I'm 25 days out of sleeve surgery today, down over 31 pounds from my surgery day weight. I woke up at 4:30 this morning to my fiancé hugging me. He said, "You were sleeping so quietly that I wanted to make sure you were okay." He was half joking, but the truth is that I really was sleeping silently! Considering the fact that he was sleeping on an air mattress in the living room in June because my sleep apnea/ snoring was SO BAD, I consider this a huge victory! Yay!

Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

Hi sorry I have not updated on this thread in a while. So first my stats as of this am: Sw 189 Pre surgery weight 183 Current weight 153 So I was in colorado visiting my family (who all live there now). We had lots of fun, plenty of different activities and lots of walking! I also asked my sisters-in-law and my Mom to take me shopping at places like Ross, gordmans, clothes mentor, and other lower priced clothing stores to find clothes that fit me. Now keep in mind I have bought plus size for years now, and so I automatically went towards plus size clothing out of long habit. Everyone hollered at me to get back to the misses and juniors side, I started to look in the XL sizes and they were like "humor us and try these things on instead" sizes medium, smalls, a few larges, 10s, 12s, and even 8s! I then would go try stuff on and come model for them... I was completely shell shocked to learn that size large was actually too big on me! They kept telling me I had hid in oversized baggy clothes for so long, and they said I have been working too hard to hide my body now. They reminded me that I used to love to wear fitted clothes that showed my assets off a little bit more (I am a naturally curvy girl even when I was 90 pounds soaking wet). They also let me know how proud they are of me (which made me a bit teary eyed). So I ended up coming home with new clothes that fit, in a wide range of sizes (it is true, a size 8 in one brand is not a size 8 in another). I then went to my closet and did some serious cleaning, planning to wash and take clothes to sell at clothes mentor in a few weeks. I even found a huge stash of clothes I had stored in the hopes I could wear them again soon- and I can wear them now! I am sorry I just went on and on in the paragraph above, it is just that it is such a huge nsv for me, and a very emotional thing at that. I am actually typing with tears running down my face right now. Both for fitting smaller clothes and for the absolute love and support from both hubby and kids, as well as my extended family. I am so very very blessed. -
Big NSV today. I had to take my daughter shopping at Old Navy…it’s back to school time and she needed school clothes, so since there was a sale there on school clothes, and I had a ton of rewards saved up, I managed to get all of her back-to-school clothes for $2. But that’s not the best part. While we were there, I looked over the women’s clothes. Now, I haven’t shopped in a regular-size store…probably since I was a teenager. So that’s quite a while. I have bought from Old Navy, but only from their plus-size (online only) store. But while I was looking at their clothes, I started thinking hmm…that looks like it might fit. And it DID! I bought a few shirts and a pair of compression capri. All size XL from the regular store (last things I bought for myself from Old Navy were 3x from the plus store). So two active-wear tank tops, one pair of capri and two t-shirts. I can not believe how good it feels to shop in a store and not have to slink to the plus-size section. I don’t CARE that I’m still in an XL…it’s a regular XL instead of 2x, 3x, etc. And it feels good.

Today is (hopefully) a banner day. 3.5 months after surgery, I spent the night culling my closet and have three full clothes hampers worth of casual and work clothing to donate to Good Will. Went from 3x and 4x shirts down to XL (so far) and 48/50 pants down to a 42. That, I think, quantifies this as a personal NSV, and makes the whole experience worth it. How did you feel when you got to that point? Wayne

My first NSV!!! I am 1 and a half months post op from RNY. I'm 4 weeks into a C25k (zombies run app). Just ran an entire mile nonstop! Woo! Granted I ran a 15min mile but hey it's a start! it feels great! keep up the great work everyone! -
Wonderful for you kid! Keep swimming and this is only the beginning of your NSV. Write them down so you can look at them later and read all the changes you have made and where you are and who you have become and then you will find you will never want to go back...
-
I am now two months post op, down 38lbs but *I* can't really see it. Today I was sweating away in my barre class and had to keep hiking up my tights and tank that once fit snug was bagging. First I looked in the mirror and thought how silly I looked, then realized "holy crap, my clothes are falling off!" Time to go shopping

This has to be my favorite thread to read! Brings happy tears to my eyes. I'm six days post op, and I can't wait to post my own "NSV" :-) -
Looks like fun! Good for you-great NSV!

That's awesome. I usually just trail ride (and I have no doubt my horse appreciated carrying 90 less pounds on our 20 mile, 3500 foot climb to a lake basin yesterday) But I do join in on sorting and team penning for fun in the local arena in the winter when our trails are under 10-20 feet of snow. Love your pictures....great NSV!
-
Finally, after loosing 94lbs got up the courage to do Team Penning for the first time!! This is chasing numbered cows into a pen in numerical order .. It was a blast and I'm so happy I can finally do theses things.. Maybe next month I will join my friends barrel racing!!!

What an amazing NSV! -
Bulwookie, congrats on your NSV !! Way to go ! It's the little things that happen that really make you think " wow ! This is really working !!" Great job !!! Lisa, you get by on 3 oz or whatever the amount is because thats all your stomach can hold ! I bet if I asked you how many ounces your dinner was tonight, I bet you could'nt give me the correct amount, but you ate until you were full, right ? Lap band works the same way. I was banded 2 yrs ago, the rules were so easy to follow, and im very happy with my weight loss! Id do it again in a heartbeat ! Best decision ever ! I occasionly think of 2-3 foods that Id like to have, but I dont miss them when I think of my healthy , happy, strong body ! Good luck ! Go for it !

Congrats on your NSV!!!!!!!!!!!! I know how you feel. I found an old XL size T-Shirt in my closet and put it on just for fun AND IT FIT!!!!!!!! Here I was thinking I was still a 2XL kinda guy. Now I have to rethink my whole wardrobe. -
Nice NSV! These non-scale victories are really where it's at. I haven't really lost in a couple of few weeks. What does that mean? My pants are starting to get really loose. I have gone from 18 to 16 to 14 to 12 in the same kind of jeans. Now I am looking at 10? OMG! So who cares what the scale says..... it wil go down, I know the pattern now. First the loose pants or other NSV then the new number. You are doing great!

What are some NSV's you're looking foward to?
vsgjourney replied to Kquinn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am looking forward to fitting in chairs and not having to call ahead to see if places have adequate seating. I am also looking forward to the positive change in my sex life, the increase in mobility, going to theatres to see plays/shows (before I could not fit in the seats), being able to cross my legs, being able to dance, having room in my driver side area (now the seat belt is so uncomfortable and my belly touches the seering wheel), running, people not starring at me, not being the big girl when I go out with friends, and simply being able to fit in (chothes, cars, airplanes, crowded places, desks, and the environment as a whole). My surgery is scheduled for July 22, 2014......This will be the day that my life changes forever. I am determined to accomplish all of these NSVs. -
Any other August 5th surgeries!?!?!?
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Alex C's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! Every day is a rollercoaster of "I'm so excited, I want to do it NOW!" and "omg, what have I done, this will be terrible!" Reading the forums has mostly helped me lean towards excitement, especially with the number of great success stories and the fun NSVs but some of the problems do make me worry. It will be a huge change but I guess if what I had going right now was working, I wouldn't be here in the first place. -
