How about some NSVs!?!?
Lthomas replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first NSV!!! I am 1 and a half months post op from RNY. I'm 4 weeks into a C25k (zombies run app). Just ran an entire mile nonstop! Woo! Granted I ran a 15min mile but hey it's a start! it feels great! keep up the great work everyone! -
Wonderful for you kid! Keep swimming and this is only the beginning of your NSV. Write them down so you can look at them later and read all the changes you have made and where you are and who you have become and then you will find you will never want to go back...

I am now two months post op, down 38lbs but *I* can't really see it. Today I was sweating away in my barre class and had to keep hiking up my tights and tank that once fit snug was bagging. First I looked in the mirror and thought how silly I looked, then realized "holy crap, my clothes are falling off!" Time to go shopping

This has to be my favorite thread to read! Brings happy tears to my eyes. I'm six days post op, and I can't wait to post my own "NSV" :-) -
Looks like fun! Good for you-great NSV!
-
That's awesome. I usually just trail ride (and I have no doubt my horse appreciated carrying 90 less pounds on our 20 mile, 3500 foot climb to a lake basin yesterday) But I do join in on sorting and team penning for fun in the local arena in the winter when our trails are under 10-20 feet of snow. Love your pictures....great NSV!
-
Finally, after loosing 94lbs got up the courage to do Team Penning for the first time!! This is chasing numbered cows into a pen in numerical order .. It was a blast and I'm so happy I can finally do theses things.. Maybe next month I will join my friends barrel racing!!!

What an amazing NSV! -
Bulwookie, congrats on your NSV !! Way to go ! It's the little things that happen that really make you think " wow ! This is really working !!" Great job !!! Lisa, you get by on 3 oz or whatever the amount is because thats all your stomach can hold ! I bet if I asked you how many ounces your dinner was tonight, I bet you could'nt give me the correct amount, but you ate until you were full, right ? Lap band works the same way. I was banded 2 yrs ago, the rules were so easy to follow, and im very happy with my weight loss! Id do it again in a heartbeat ! Best decision ever ! I occasionly think of 2-3 foods that Id like to have, but I dont miss them when I think of my healthy , happy, strong body ! Good luck ! Go for it !

OMG! I just bought a 12!
joatsaint replied to AR40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your NSV!!!!!!!!!!!! I know how you feel. I found an old XL size T-Shirt in my closet and put it on just for fun AND IT FIT!!!!!!!! Here I was thinking I was still a 2XL kinda guy. Now I have to rethink my whole wardrobe. -
Nice NSV! These non-scale victories are really where it's at. I haven't really lost in a couple of few weeks. What does that mean? My pants are starting to get really loose. I have gone from 18 to 16 to 14 to 12 in the same kind of jeans. Now I am looking at 10? OMG! So who cares what the scale says..... it wil go down, I know the pattern now. First the loose pants or other NSV then the new number. You are doing great!

What are some NSV's you're looking foward to?
vsgjourney replied to Kquinn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am looking forward to fitting in chairs and not having to call ahead to see if places have adequate seating. I am also looking forward to the positive change in my sex life, the increase in mobility, going to theatres to see plays/shows (before I could not fit in the seats), being able to cross my legs, being able to dance, having room in my driver side area (now the seat belt is so uncomfortable and my belly touches the seering wheel), running, people not starring at me, not being the big girl when I go out with friends, and simply being able to fit in (chothes, cars, airplanes, crowded places, desks, and the environment as a whole). My surgery is scheduled for July 22, 2014......This will be the day that my life changes forever. I am determined to accomplish all of these NSVs. -
Any other August 5th surgeries!?!?!?
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Alex C's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! Every day is a rollercoaster of "I'm so excited, I want to do it NOW!" and "omg, what have I done, this will be terrible!" Reading the forums has mostly helped me lean towards excitement, especially with the number of great success stories and the fun NSVs but some of the problems do make me worry. It will be a huge change but I guess if what I had going right now was working, I wouldn't be here in the first place. -

NSV & officially overweight
lifestartsnow4me replied to onlybroomegirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good for you! That is so wonderful. I'm looking forward to those types of NSVs. -
Today is weigh in day. My scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks. But this am I lost 1 & 1/2 lbs. I am officially OVERWEIGHT! I have never been so happy to be overweight! Obese no more! My NSV... I wear a lab coat at work. Before surgery in February I wore a tight 2x or a loose 3x. My boss had bought some extras & I tried one on yesterday. It is a medium & it fits!! Hubby said it looks a little big but smaller probably wouldn't fit my shoulders. Asked my boss if I could buy it & she just gave it to me!! Yay!

One year out and only 50 pounds down...I feel like a failure!
gowalking replied to CAishaGA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Why oh why do you feel like a failure? You've lost 50 lbs. And you have to remember that without WLS, you likely would have gained quite a bit of weight so add that to your total. Also...get off the scale. It's just a number and you can lose even if the scale doesn't show it. Look for the NSVs instead of the weight loss. Are you wearing smaller sized clothing? Do you have more energy? Can you fit somewhere you couldn't before? These changes are as if not more important that the numbers. Don't concern yourself with what you thought you would lose...only concern yourself with what you have lost. 50 lbs. is nothing to sneeze at. Try to pick up something that weighs 50 lbs. I bet you can't. Remember...this is a lifelong journey so don't get bogged down in the time it takes to 'get there'. Good luck my friend! -
Boy do I get this NSV. To not have to worry about fitting into the gowns, or a robe at the spa... I was always so mortified to be reminded of just how fat I was...
-
I had the same experience a few weeks ago. My hubby even gasped when they brought the little cotton dress out..i stared at him in fear..It fit with room to spare...i love NSV of my own and love hearing others ...WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats! Where I live they have made huge brown ones for the fluffy people and I tell you I could swim in those ones. so I have no idea who decided on using 25 yards of material for those..So glad I am not wearing them now!

I finally managed to lose 70 pounds!!!!!! This is a milestone for me, since I haven't been at this weight for almost ten years. After being in a rut and at a plateau for several months, I decided to get back to the gym on a regular basis. That helped, but once I decided to push myself for an hour on the treadmill and watching my heat rate, I was able to burn 800 calories in an hour and resulted in some fantastic weight losses that showed on the scale. NSV, and like many bandsters, we've fought for and earned every damn pound that we've managed to sweat off and keep off. Ideally, I need to lose another 80 pounds according to the BMI calculators, but the day I reach 250 pounds (46 to go) will get me back to where I was 35 years ago. I just hope there aren't too many plateaus between where I am, and where I want to go...I really get angry at folks who think that WLS is a cop out, and an "easy way" to lose weight. I'd like to slap them across the head several times whenever I hear those comments. Every pound lost is a victory over fat, and it is a hard fight, regardless of how you do it.

Went to the doctor today for my annual check up. Remember those little gowns they give you to wear?? Well, I am so excited to say that it fit for the first time in years!!! Woo hoo! Loving life with the band.
