I hear you. I think this may be partially due to the interruption of routine. But I also think it's about progression and maturation of your surgery. And depression. The crap foods/no exercise/no light stuff all breeds depression and inactivity. I'm a few months ahead of you and I went through this phase. The difference is that I was expecting it coming. It's like the other shoe that I've been waiting to drop. You know? So I was on guard for its arrival. And had a cunning plan in place. When I feel the "doldrums" coming on and I feel disgust with things I've let slip back into routine from the old dead ways, I immediately know to "SWITCH GEARS" and change the game up on myself. This does something huge for me...it gets rid of boredom and complacency immediately, cuz it's a new game, with different rules. And then I deep dive into researching the newest changes. For me it's mostly about doing the headwork. It truly helps. And it helps to be involved with a real life face-to-face group (online) who have the same mentality. For you it might be taking baby steps to dump your triggers (ahem...movie popcorn ) and start to clean up the diet. And it might also be adding new workout routines you are allowed to do--even if it's walking in short sprints. You can fast walk after this surgery can't you? And then getting back to doing what you love, running, when released to do it. It's a scary realization that you can have regain, especially when you've enjoyed so much latitude with your maintenance diet composition. I'm only one bad meal/bad day away from regain. So it's a real see saw and can be a mind f**k. But it also keeps me on my toes. LOL. And it's not a big shocker to me. Cuz well...been dealing with it forevs. But it's much easier mentally and emotionally taking off 2lbs than it is taking off twenty. I'd rather eat miserly for 2-4days rather than 4-8 weeks or longer!

For me it seems to depend on quite a few things if I feel good on a fast or not. -

Just finished day 2 of the 2 week pre opt diet. Doing okay so far.But I can see that these protein shakes are gonna get old fast. I'm making some of my own protein smoothies. My doctor's okay with adding a bit of fruit or leafy greens like spinach so I'm making some with apple or grape or bananas. They also allow a little bit of yogurt or cottage cheese which I have been doing at the end of the day It was dessert.12 more days to go. dessert.12 more days to go. -
Hope y'all enjoy long posts as much as me!!! Lol so Monday and Tuesday I did long fasts and only ate blended/ smoothie food. I would've loved to continue Wednesday but since my adorable nephews woke me up at 530 a.m. and fasting on almost no sleep is very difficult for me. You would think waking up this early (2+ hours earlier than usual) I would have time to prepare food, but they kept me busy. So I had to grab food at local supermarket. I did my best to choose right foods. Surprisingly enough I didn't really feel hungry until late night thankfully I was able to control myself. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday feb 5 29 months PO/ 5'2" / CW 173 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 600 a.m. coffee + almond milk 945 a.m. lite greek cheese snack 100 p.m. veggies + 1 oz tuna + mayo 500 p.m. 1 oz cheddar cheese / coffee + almond milk 630 p.m. 1 oz tuna + mayo 845 p.m. plain Greek yogurt + pb powder 1130 p.m. nugo slim protien bar / coffee+ almond milk + whipped cream --------------------------------------------------------------------- Totals- 790 cals / 71g protien/ 41g net carbs / 35g fat Sent from my SM-G950U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

Okay so fasting update: Monday thru Tuesday was my 18 hr fast, but both Monday and Tuesday were low cal days. Looks like I got in 500-ish Monday and 750-ish Tuesday. Yesterday I felt like eating every 3-4 hours, and I did. Oddly enough, I was also craving alcohol, but didnโt have any cuz i do 5:2 most weeks and it wasnโt the weekend. Trying to figure out where my intense wine craving from yesterday came from. Even though I ate every 3-4 hours, my โfeastingโ was moderate. I supplemented with extra protein shake and had an extra serving of veggies and hummus for an afternoon snack. The wine craving was so bad last night that I broke down at 9pm and made myself a chai latte with a dollop of whipped cream on top (only 100 calories, but it shocked me how much I โneededโ it) -

Lol, Fluffy. How many times per hour do you have to dash to the restroom? I think Iโd have to pee 2x/ hour. Youโre awesome. Seriously though, fasting days= frequent hourly trips to the bathroom once my body realizes no calories are coming and it has to start dumping glycogen -

Can you ween off of it by cutting it with fresh brewed iced tea? Or freshed brewed with lemon in it? I drink it all day during a fast, but I drink hot in winter and iced in summer. I use decaf and unsweetened. I especially like a combo of decaf green tea and decaf Earl Grey. Yummeh!!! -
OK, so if 90+ lbs from goal weight do I just wait or start researching dr's and procedures now?
GreenTealael replied to KarenLR75's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I agree with starting to save the ๐ฐ now but using your research as a motivating force to make it to your goal. You're absolutely right that you'll have no clue what your body will look like after 70- 90 lbs more of loss but problem areas now will not improve so that is at least an indicator. Also you'll be surprised how fast plastics can happen if your paying out of pocket โค Good Luck ๐ -
Scary stuff.... i hope im ready for this

@BigViffer Oh i know for sure i am not at maintenance yet. I should have mentioned her end game for me is 2500+ cals. What she wants me to do is start slowly building towards it as i approach it, and introducing more foods into my diet, because right not i still do a shake for breakfast and lunch. Her first goal for me is 1500. Ill still be in a big deficit and losing weight. I still think ill probably reach close to 200 if not lower. But i also have been struggling with my energy and sure my eating only 800-1000 cals a day has something to do with that. Its just scary how fast it showed up and i really hadnt really thought about where i was weight was and how fast this whole journey is going. But yeah im loving the gym right now and today is 5x1 dead lift of 85% max so ill be pulling 345. I dont want to lose that strength. Im definitely nervous about the rebound gain and all that, but hopefully with preparation and getting down to about 200-205 i can settle in at 215 when its all said and done, Id be real happy there. Just more toned. We will see what happens! Thanks for the advice man! -
lol.. thanks, but I don't have any. If you click on that photo it will show the un-cropped image which has the granddaughter in question standing with me when she was 6- 7. So I have aged some. The reason I chose that photo is because that is how I saw myself in my head before my weight gain started. I was always the tall skinny girl. I could eat anything and never worried about my weight. Fast forward a few years and my immune system started silently attacking my thyroid and all hell broke loose. I gained 100lbs from the 145-150 I probably weighed in that photo. The metabolic dysfunction that took over ruined my health. So that photo was my inspiration post-op. It was from the last time I remembered feeling truly healthy and great. I should update it.

Maybe will do a 20 h today. Not really sure though. I'm on late shift today. I had to drive to work late last evening and wasn't back just before midnight. Fasts after a busy on-call duty are either a breeze and feel really good or I'm nervous and restless as f*ck during the fasting window. Going to try to sleep a little bit more before having to go to work I guess. -

I am also insulin resistant and I have PCOS. so I defiantly have to watch my carb intake. But I love chicken fish broccoli spinach salad with lemon. Etc. when I was younger I didnโt notice that all the bs carbs I was eating was not good for me and I was on the Fast track To obesity and addiction. I can drop my weight and I do by myself but I always always always crave sugar and fight my growling tummy. So after I had my baby I immediately got to work on the VSG surgery. Knowing my BMI would be high enough to qualify for surgery. I have the tools cause I have done it for years. But I wanted a little help. And I could never get below 200. So I am hoping to do this with the sleeve tool. But I totally understand what ur saying. I donโt eat keto but I watch all my intakes. And I make healthy choice. I do not eat pasta ( I am Italian and my family looks at me with disgust every family dinner) i never have drank soda or ate chips etc. because of pcos and I know it will pack on me. My hugest weight ever was 336! It was when I was a lot younger before I found out about pcos and insulin resistance. Then I controlled my weight at 240 for years. Got pregnant with baby 3 and decided this is my golden time weight was 275. And I qualified. I am so happy to have this tool to help me. -

Iโm also doing the intermittent fasting. No food after 6pm and no liquid after 9pm (to help me not wake up every two hours to pee). I wake up between 6-6:30 and have decaf coffee black or hot lemon water until 8:30 and a protein shake at 9am for my first meal. Iโve wanted to be able to do this for years so I am so happy to have this tool to help me vanquish my late night eating. -

Hi all, everyone seems to be doing really well! I'm down about 6kg or 13lb since I decided to tackle my regain as a New Year resolution. I have to take a lot of medications with breakfast and with dinner, so I was struggling a bit with IF. I get nauseated and sick if pills aren't accompanied by some food. I had to adjust everything so I'm now doing 14 hour fasting window, with a 10 hour eating window. Unfortunately, due to my long working hours, sometimes it's 12:12 by the time I get around to eating dinner. Hopefully, I'm still getting some benefits from this IF approach. It's early days. My long term goal is to find an approach I can use for the rest of my life. It would be great to lose some more weight and then finally figure out this maintenance business! -

I loved sonic ice and I would put a little lime salt in it or I would spray a little liquid juice like mio on itinerary was a life saver the first week. For the injections hold the fatty area inject (do not remove needle yet) hold skin for about 2 second then Let the skin go and remove needle at the same time and that will help stop bruising. Also inject fast not slow kind of like a little stab. Can u have strained soups on ur liquid diet? Egg drop soup is yummy and wonton soup to switch things up. Keep your head up you are doing great and these tough stages will be over very soon!!! -

I was scheduled for 22nd. I had my pre-op Testing on Monday. And I got a call yesterday moving my surgery date up to19th. Things are starting to move fast. I start my liquid diet today but decided to go ahead and have breakfast. I had cream chip beef on toast and a couple of poached eggs along with a grapefruit. Was delicious. Now comes the hard part. But let the journey begin. -

๐ Completed a 24 hr modified wet fast ๐ May try another... During my wet fasts I have tea w & w/o cream, water & enhanced water, At about 18 hrs I had a spoonful of peanut butter because I thought that's when I'd start eating but got super busy and never did ๐ Ended up eating around 10 pm so it became an OMAD fast ๐ -
I reach my protein goals on a fast day. I think you should still target your protein and reach it on fasting days...even if that's the lower end of it. My RD is totally ok with me having some days in the 50s on protein. She said, as long as that's not every day. So it fluctuates with the ADF. If I end up doing a 20:4, then it will always include breaking the fast with a protein drink, then having a meal or two in that 4 hour window.

Never have tried that. I have had a protein shake, 2 ounces red meat and 1 oz Brie since breaking fast and Iโm pretty full even though I ate my last food almost 4 hours ago
