  1. You sound so much like me .... LOL I'm 2 months out and I've been stalled for 3 weeks.... ugh. I keep thinking ,hey- as long as I'm not losing or gaining-maybe I can pig out on junk food while my body is deciding what to do.
  2. How is your weight going now I was doing good until I got 3 months then my scale started going in the wrong direction lol I was like give me my stomach back if y’all gone act like this. I’m so frustrated and I seem to never be full for longer than 30 mins
  3. I don't mean to laugh, but I told my surgeon the exact same thing ! I gained weight at my first appointment and I told him "if this keeps up,I want my money back !" ...LOL He said don't worry about it - your body will adjust and you'll start losing . They pumped me FULL of liquids in the hospital , too . I guess I just had to play the waiting game. Are you writing down what you eat ? Sometimes it helps to see things in black and white so you can figure out what's happening.
  4. I had the surgery 4/28/23 At 209 month one I was 189 month two 177 month 3 185! I this is so disrespectful. I feel myself going backwards. I have spoken with the psychiatrist surgeon and nutritionist they said not to weigh myself but I feel like I am consuming more than I am suppose to this is so frustrating nothin satisfies me.

Has anyone gain weight after 3months of surgery?
  6. Did you have excess weight to lose before you had your revision? My doctor actually recommended the revision for the extra weight loss

Thank you for your kindness! I didn't have much GERD, but they did do a hiatal hernia repair that I didn't know I had. My dietician said it can take a few weeks to see weight loss, but it's frustrating when I lost 15 lb before surgery and nothing now with barely eating. That's a good suggestion.

    11 Years Post Surgery

Thanks for posting this. I really needed to see this post and I'm sure a lot of us who are just starting their weight loss journey will feel the same. You look great and I'm sure you feel great too.
  10. My Goal weight (185) was just picked by the Normal Height and weight for 6' Tall guy. But I know from experience anytime I got down to about 205 lbs I thought I looked and felt great! I figure though this time I will probably make it down all the way to 185 lbs.

    11 Years Post Surgery

Thank you so much for sharing. So many people have posted about weight regain, especially with VSG. It is inspiring to hear your testament of long term success. Lifetime vigilance and dedication in embracing a new and healthy relationship with food seems to be the deciding factor. BRAVO!!!

    Is it just me or…

Is this by family and friends? Medical team? I'm lucky that I live alone with my 16-yr-old. She very much minds her own business except to ask how I'm feeling and to encourage me when I'm feeling down. I have 10 living brothers and sisters, but they know I've been through this before. They mind their own business except to text me to ask how I'm doing. They mostly have questions rather than "reminders." I do have 2 sisters who have 20+ and 40+ years experience as RN's, so I do ask them a lot of questions about nutrition. Maybe they're just looking out for you. If they don't have personal experience with weight issues or WLS, they may not realize that their reminders can get frustrating. You could let them know how you feel. Just a thought.
  13. Does anyone have any good questions for me to ask my doctor? This is my first post op appt. An RN commented that it’s too soon but hey 🤷🏾‍♀️ it was already scheduled in order per the coordinator. Surgey date 7/24/23. Post op appointment 8/3/23. I will be 9 days post op by then. SW: 279 CW:265 Goal weight: healthy❤️
  14. I’m really struggling lately with head hunger. I’m about 8.5 months post op from mini bypass and the sickness and nausea has subsided (yay) but the restriction has also eased a lot. I find myself wanting to just eat because it tastes good. I know I’m not hungry but I’m really having a hard time with it and looking for any advice on how people handle it. I’ve gained four pounds in about a week. I know I tend to fluctuate at this point but I’m getting nervous that I’m going to mess it all up.

    Waist training anyone?

Absolutely! Amazon has a few with good reviews. I made sure to search for surgical compression garments. They are a lil pricey but it seems worth it. Several bariatric patients told me in person that I need to wear a girdle of some sort to help with the excess skin amount and weight loss . Told me it will help out a lot for contouring without having to get a lot of surgery.

  17. Hey all, I had my GS done on 6/21/2023, and I feel like I’ve been going through hell ever since. My surgery went great and the healing process went normally. But the weirdness started happening around 3 weeks post surgery. SEVERE nausea and vomiting 3+ times daily. My Dr has me on Zofran which only works sometimes and I’ve been living my day to day barely eating or drinking ANYTHING. My body REJECTS water (tried all different kinds and temperatures of water, along with different flavorings; nada), and it comes right back up. Food stays down a bit easier but even the thought of eating most things makes me gag. I’m prepared for the backlash on the comment I’m about to make but honestly all my body lets me keep down is Sprite and occasionally some cereal. I know I know, I’m supposed to be avoiding sugar and carbonation. But honestly I’d rather get Sprite and cereal down than throw up water and chicken over and over again. My Dr says I’m part of the 10-15% of patients who experience severe nausea weeks after surgery, and that it’s something that goes away on its own.. Has anyone else experienced this?? I’m scheduled to get a CT scan on the 9th of Aug. to see what the heck is going on. I’m almost 50lbs down a little over a month past surgery and to be honest I’m a bit worried I’m losing TOO much weight? (TMI?) But I haven’t gotten my period since the surgery (I’m 20 so my period is usually pretty consistent). Brain fog is real right now!!! I take 30 seconds to process the things people say to me right now and 30 seconds to form coherent sentences. Is this from lack of food? Lack of water? Who knows, but it’s really annoying. This post is all over the place, but I feel the confusion of this post connects perfectly to where my brain is at right now. I have no idea what’s going on, all I know is my stomach hurts and I’m nauseous and I just want this nightmare to end so I can start LIVING. Thanks in advance for reading.

    Alcohol consumption

I was told 6 months by my doc, but made it 2. Went on a trip to Italy and drank 2-4 glasses of wine a day (never more than 2 at a time for lunch and/or dinner), then another trip to the beach where I consumed quite a few frozen cocktails. I learned pretty quickly to stay away from the heavy cream type of cocktails as they filled me up and made me not feel great. With the cocktails, I also got a real dry mouth sensation an hour or so after stopping. Now that I am back home, I'll stay away from the empty calories until at least 6 months, but hopefully until I am at my goal weight.

Hi there, I just found this site after googling because I haven't been feeling very good and haven't been losing weight. My sleeve was 7/20. I had to go to the hospital the day after for uncontrolled vomiting and dehydration. Since then I've been struggling with nausea. I'm hungry but if I eat anything that seems to control the hunger, I have dumping syndrome- pain, nausea, spasms, feel terrible. I know the first week, I gained weight from all of the fluids and that has come back down, but I haven't lost any more. I'm worried that I made a mistake.

Losing weight before surgery - how

Are you required to lose weight before the surgery?
  21. As long as I kept my hands busy , I was okay. I was a big "sit in front of the tv with a bowl of something and keep shoveling it into my mouth" type person. I stopped buying the tempting stuff and instead bought myself a bunch of markers, pens, sketchbooks , coloring books and kept that next to me while watching tv. I also had water with me at all times. Not gonna lie - the first couple days are bad ! Pretty soon my brain switched gears and I really got into my doodling. Lost a good amount of weight, too !
  22. I had to have a revision for other reasons, but I can tell you that you lose a lot less with it than the initial surgery. I'm 5 weeks post op, and I've lost 16 pounds. This time last year, I had lost 30. So you lose roughly half as much with a revision as you do from the initial surgery. Revisions tend to be worth it more if you have complications from the initial surgery (like I did). Additional weight loss isn't really a huge reason since you lose slower and less than the original surgery.

    August 2023 Surgery Buddies!

I should have mentioned in my initial post that I had a sleeve in 2018. Had horrible GERD since and also never lost the most weight that my surgeon said I could possibly lose. Fast forward through COVID, loss of a family member, major job change l, etc etc - I actually gained almost ALL of the weight back. It very embarrassing. I would have never thought that I would gain it all back - ever. As the day goes, never say never. I have a new surgeon now and she is amazing and did not make me feel like a loser. Since I have GERD and never lost to my potential, and have the hiatal hernia, I am having a revision to gastric bypass on 8/11. My highest weight was 250 and my lowest weight after sleeve was 169. I’m 5’4”. To say that this second chance means everything to me is an understatement. I haven’t even told anyone (besides my husband) that I’m doing the revision because I’m so embarrassed.
  24. Hi! I'm at the very beginning of the process. I keep trying to stick to any diet so I can lose weight before the surgery and I have been struggling. I'm just always hungry. It's so hard to not just walk in my kitchen and eat something. I've never struggled so hard to just get started. Anyone else? What did you do? Thanks!!
  25. Hello guys, Congratulations to everyone on their weight loss journey. My surgery date is August 3rd (Sleeved) and I am so excited. Tomorrow starts my pre-op liquid diet which I’m a little nervous about. But other then that I’m ready to join the losers bench. Good luck to everyone and look forward to hearing our success stories 🫶🏾
