    Having a great day!

Hi I would be happy to be one of your many new friends. We are sisters in this exclusive club and need to share with each other and support each other. I was banded on the 27th of August and I have lost 19 lbs since my surgery. My clothes are getting baggy and I feel so much better all ready. I am so excited about losing weight and looking better. It is a matter of me living longer and enjoying life more so I am totally committed.
  2. I made a posting on here a few days ago concerning my right eye and retinaoschisis. I can never spell it right. Went to the eye doctor today and I have a bubble in the central vision between two layers of the retina. I got another shot in the eye which is normal, please don't freak out. It is now noted in my chart that they may now be considering surgery on my right eye. The surgery would require a gas bubble to go where the vitreous gel once was and for me to lay facedown for approximately 10 days. The hope is that the gas bubble would help get rid of the bubble and put the retina layers in place. In June they're going to do a die test on my eyes which I have had before. . The purpose of it is trying to determine where the Fluid is coming from. They are also going to be trying me on another very expensive medication which insurance will cover in my case. It may or may not help. I have about 100% sure that I'm not diabetic or that high cholesterol plays a role in this My eye doctor is aware that I am considering sleeve surgery and she actually told me that I may want to consider putting it on hold and focusing on this eye. It basically boils down to which is more important. We will know more about this I in a few months. I'm still planning on my May 4th consultation. All I know to do right now is pray and continue going forward.

    Im back !

K, so after a very bad period of time in which i had to have the fluid removed due to it being too tight, I have reached a point in which I cannot get back to where I was. I had lost roughly 70lbs. And was doing great, felt great, and was starting to look great. I went in for a routine upper g.i and the barium I drank dripped through like an I.v. So they said they wanted to remove half and then see why happens. Well what happened was I now weigh more than I did before the surgery, I am so disgusted with myself it's unreal. I work out, I thought I was eating better, I even tried the joe cross reboot program. Lost 10, gained 15. So I pretty much have up. But after realizing that I need to fix things not just for me but for my family, I am back ! I had a full today, I am at 8 cc on a 10 cc band. I was at 7.5 and felt absolutely no restriction. So I'm hoping this helps. My hardest part is I don't have a lot of money, and I'm not sure what foods to eat for breakfast, lunch, and I work in a prison so it's hard to eat a lot so I'm wondering what exactly do you guys eat and how much for lunch breakfast and dinner. I need help and remember I'm low on funds. I have unlimited eggs due to my chicken lol

    Inexpensive Protein Suggestions

I really like the EAS Vanilla Soy proteing powder from Wal-Mart. I bought the small container for $10 to make sure I liked it. I also bought chocolate and strawberry sugar free syrups to change up the flavors a bit every now and then.
  5. 10 months out from RNY: I feel hungry all the time, pretty much except for the hour or so after I eat. For example tonight I ate at 6:00, had a chicken breast and some salad, now I'm starving and my back hurts - lower middle of my back. I'm assuming it's connected? It's like a dull ache. I don't understand why I'm suddenly feeling so hungry? Basics: RNY 1.19.15, lost 85lbs so far, tolerate most everything I've tried, drink lots of Water, slacked pretty badly on my Vitamins the lasts two months but am back on track with them starting yesterday. Any insight?

    H Pylorie test

So I made it thru the weekend. It's crazy that I can't find a trigger for feeling bad. The doctor's office is hard to get to a nurse. The voicemail message even says they are busy due to trying to process patients and schedule them by the end of the year. I started back on my GERD meds and today was fine. As I was leaving the office I was thinking about how I had to fast for the blood tests but they had me drink this sweet drink for the H Pylorie test and then 5-10 minutes later drew the blood. I'm guessing that in those 5-10 min that my blood wasn't affected. I guess if it comes back with a high blood glucose then that could be the drink.

    Protein Cookies

That's a lot steep isn't it? I thought higher than 10 grams of sugar was a no no?
  9. I live in Alabama also and I used Dr. Cottingham at Brookwood and he was wonderful. His office staff were very nice and quick to get the ball rolling. After my 6 mo. diet ended, his asst. summitted my info to the ins. co.and I had an approval that same day. Then she had me scheduled for my dietitian, phys. therapy, etc. within days. Ihad my surgery 10/20 and I would recommend Dr. Cottingham to anyone.

    Severely Light Headed!

Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate it. ..However I'm not on any BP meds, I'm only 19 and I think it may be from not enough food; )
  11. Tomorrow, I check in with my surgeon, 1/2 way through my soft/purée stage. I was hoping to be down 10 more pounds but I wasn't going to stress over it. I am happy to say, as of this morning, I am down 9 more pounds PLUS I ventured into the next set of 10 digits on the scale!! WOOT!!! For work today, I am rocking a shirt I haven't worn in 1.5 years because it was too tight. Not today!! AND I can put on/off my jeans without unzipping or unbuttoning them!! Can I say I LOVE my sleeve!!?! I am feeling so lucky, I think I need to buy a lottery ticket!

    Newbie here

As a self pay, I was able to get signed up on the night of the seminar I went to, and two weeks later I was on the operating table. In that two weeks I had to have an EKG done (10 minutes), a psyc review (2 hours), blood work (15-20 minutes - Had to fast for it for 12 hours or so), and a general health physical by a nurse practitioner (2 hours). I was able to get all of this done within about 3 days time, but I had to schedule as soon as possible. I have heard that it takes a while longer if you're paying via insurance on account of them possibly requiring more tests, etc. On going back to work - Well, I had my surgery done yesterday and right now I wouldn't feel fit to go back for at least 3-4 days. I'm probably not the trooper that some people are, but when it comes to being cut open I'd like to make use of as much time as I can before I have to go back to work.
  13. I had my surgery 1/18 last Friday. I'm feeling good pain wise. Getting my protein and water in. In fact I really feel like eating something. Tired of drinking. But my biggest complaint is I'm just so tired. I slept 10 hours last night and feel like i could go back to sleep. Some days I do and take a 3 hour nap but then cant get to sleep at a decent hour at night. I just have no energy. Been making myself walk for 20-30 minutes a day though. Anyone else have this problem? Is this normal? Oh also i am taking my vitamins.
  14. My name is Demetra and I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I was banded on July 14, 2010 and have lost 86 lbs so far... I still have another 25 to go according to my doc. Weight loss is at a stand still right now. No weight loss prior to surgery so my starting weight was 273 and am currently at 187 give or take a few pounds day to day. Was wearing a 20/22 to start and am down to about a 10/12... Very happy with my progress. So I would love to hear from others that had surgery around that time!

    Weight loss avg

I’d say I’m a fairly slow loser. I lost 16 pounds in first month and 1/2 of it was in the first week. I stalled at weeks 2-3 but since then I’ve lost 2-4 pound per week. I’m about 10 weeks out and have lost 32 lbs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I'm right there with you. I haven't eaten since Sunday and am not the least bit hungry. The most I've been able to get down in a day is a 10 oz Muscle Milk, 20 oz of Water and a bit of broth. I'm sure it will get better but this is a seriously odd feeling!

    Sisters!

SISTERS! I have three sisters. One is 10 years older than me, one is my twin, and the other is 6 years younger than me. At first, I was hesitant to tell them I wanted to have surgery. My eldest sister is the cute, stylish, and always put together one. My twin is the tiny petite one and my little sis is the young and hip one. My title has always been "the fat one". So I was a little apprehensive about sharing my desire to have weight loss surgery. My thought was they would think I was taking the easy way out. So I did not say anything right away. When I finally got word that insurance would cover the surgery (after being denied first and resubmitting) I new it was time to tell. To my surprise they were all three very supportive and excited for me. Even in the beginning after surgery they would congratulate me when I told them how much weight I was down or would give me rave reviews about how I looked. This all sounds great doesn't it?????? Times have a changed! I am nearing my goal and have officially gone down a whole size smaller than two of my sisters and I am the same size as one of them. Talk about a complete turn around (there attitudes I mean). I get comments like "What size are those jeans???" it the snottiest of tones. My younger sister even said to me "You are no better than a bulimic, because if you eat too much you get sick." How RUDE! So I am at a loss for what to do or say. I have gotten to the point where I don't even want to spend time with them. So the question is, Is it better to be "the fat sister"? and still have your sis's or be the "slim sister" and have them green with envy? I wish I could make them realize that none of this ever had anything to do with the way I look, but with the way I feel. They should be able to realize that I am happier and healthier than I have ever been. My hope is that eventually they will get over the jealousy and embrace the fact that how we look is not a competition! I think of the many times my weight made me feel miserable and my sisters new just how to make it worse. I will give one example. We were at our Aunts for our grandmothers birthday. We were all sitting at a table and it was cramped. I ended up sitting in a spot that had a cabinet behind it and I was so squished in it was uncomfortable. I quietly asked my sister to switch spots with me, as there was nothing behind her giving more room. She refused and on top of that she loudly made such a stink about it that my cousin across the room offered me her chair because she could see how embarrassed I was. I was completely humiliated.
