Got your message this time!! I don't know what happened , maybe it is the weather. Boy!! You sure are doing good in your weight loss! And you did that without a fill!! That is awesome! I sort of dread my fill, I DON'T like needles! Of any size, but if it helps me lose some more weight, I'll try not to be a big baby about it! Well I need to go, I'll catch up with you next wkend!!

Hi from Australia. I was rejected for back surgery last tuesday because my surgeon says it would be safer to operate on me if I can lose some weight first. I just read your story & now wonder if trying Optifast 1st may be easier to try being a liquid diet... rather than cutting back on normal food? I have so much back pain & sciatica now & need slow release 'Oxycontin' plus Panadeine Forte for pain as well. Would taking slow release meds be a problem after being banded?

55 lbs lost but I have skipped out on my workouts the last two weeks. I am 5 lbs behind my goal weight, but that's my fault. I better pick up the workouts again!

Hi There
I am a little the same, have been trying to keep myself busy. I have decided its cleaning out the kitchen day tomorrow I cant believe we are almost there to our date 14/5 its come around so fast. How long do you have to be on your pre op diet? What do you have to do in your diet? Im just on 2 Optifast a day and a meal at dinner time. Small peice of protein and some vege or salad. Its not too bad, Its weird to say it but the Chocolate Optifast actually tastes quite nice
I have been feeling really crap the last couple of days, the optifast seems to bound me up pretty bad Its not nice, But at the end of the day its working I have lost quite a bit of weight. If my scales at my gym and the ones at the doctors are the same Ive lost 12kg.....kinda exciting....Im just hoping my liver shrinks enough
But hey like you said WE can do it!!!
Thanks heaps for writing to me that was really nice
Talk soon Trish

My next dr appt is may 6 next week, I was banded on 3/20/09 and saw my dr just to remove my white strips and checked my band and it was good. I hope I didn't gain any weight since I was able to eat solids. I guess it will be my first fill, I hope I've lost some weight since I being going to the gym and trying to be more active.

TVASQUEZ,
In Ticker Factory, once you choose the pictures you want for your ticker and you get to the page where you have to enter your starting weight, goal weight, current weight etc. there is an area where you choose to show "weight change" or choose to show just "weight".
If you check "weight change" your ticker will show how much you lost and how much you want to lose.
If you check "weight" your ticker will show your actual staring weight, your current weight and your goal weight
Hope this answers your question.

I usually am starving when I eat my meals, so...Today at lunch I started out with what I thought was slowly eating, but it wasn't and I had pain, but eventually after a few bites got the hang of it - slowly and chewing thoroughly. I guess I just need patience! ! I am scheduled for another fill on 5/14 so maybe I'll get on track and be able to get a 2nd fill then. I really love my band and the weight I am loosing. I think of it as my "permanent monitor" for eating less and losing weight. I also have noticed that in the mornings I can not eat first thing like I used to so I drink 1/2 cup of coffee while getting dressed, then more on my drive to work. I've been eating Cheerios for breakfast and they seem to be agreeing with me, so far. I guess only time will tell. I'll keep you posted on my progress and status! Again, thanks so much for your help! I feel better about it after talking with you! Thanks, Laura

Well during my 2 week preop diet I lost 19 lbs. Then the week after surgery I lost 11 more. I had surgery on Feb 5th. I have actually gained back a couple of lbs becuase I am still not filled to the correct amount. I had a fill on March 16th at 4cc's but I was up all night getting sick so I went back on March 17th and got 2 ccs out. Then on April 14th I got another fill of 1 cc so I am at 3 now and I still don't have very much restriction. I just called today to reschedule my next fill to May 12th. That is the soonest they can get me in because I have to see Deperi or Webb because neither Welchel or Hagen could find my port. I really like Webb anyway because when he gives a fill I don't even feel the needle! I don't know how he does it! By the way I was very skeptical about going to Memorial for the surgery but I was very impressed with the whole thing I hope that helps

Hi there Crime Kitty, I love that you guys are doing this together. What a great support system! I understand the insurance thing. I have my consultation today, but I already know I have to start the 6 mos. doctor supervised weight loss program before insurance will pay for banding, soooo I guess I am a long way off. Baby steps is the way to go. good luck to both of you and keep me informed on how you are doing. All of these stories are so inspirational that is helps me to keep going even though it will be a while.

Hey there!! Was so glad to hear from you! I know what you mean about being out in the middle of the desert! I lived in Gila Bend for about 2 years when I was a kid. Do you know where that is? It's pretty close to Yuma. I am doing good, went back to work this wk. and that was rough. So if you don't hear from me now, I probably won't have much time to get on-line until the wkend. I go on reg. foods tomorrow, so the weight is coming off more slower now but that's o.k. I knew it would happen. That is just awesome that you are doing so good!! And congrats on your gift to yourself!! You deserve it!! Well I gotta go for now, you have a good wk.

Good to hear from you. I am doing great, I have lost 22 lbs. since my surgery. I had my first fill on the 20th of this month, didn't have as much restriction as I thought I would have had. I got 2cc and Lori did a great job, didn't feel a thing. I am excited to hear how you and your husband are doing, let me know how much weight you guys have lost. I would also like to know what you are eating. I am sticking to high protein - low carb, but I am getting tired of eating the same things, maybe you can give me some ideas.

Congratulations! Losing weight and looking sexy always seems to create a pregnancy. The same thing happened to me four years ago (but wasn't on the band). Glad to know that you are able to conceive and still have a normal pregnancy after banding. )
