I made that! I used greek yogurt instead of mayo, but it was soooooo goooood!!!!
-
I couldn't do shakes, so my second week consisted of high protein milk and yogurt. I used fairlife and YQ. I've seen a lot of people can't stomach it after surgery, so keep these in mind if you have problems. Good luck!

What soft foods are you allowed? I was 5/23 & I'm on cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs, ground chicken, ground beef, veggies, cheese.

I’m on day 5 post op and I agree it is major surgery similar to what I experience having my gall bladder out or a c-section. I am doing things little by little and feeling better everyday but need to take tests in between and focus on healing and how my new stomach communicated with me. I’m on phase two which means I can introduce yogurt but I’m scared and still on liquid proteins. I don’t have hunger like I used to although my stomach does have another sensation that comes and goes... trying to figure out if it’s too much liquid, it’s empty or it’s just shocked I’m putting something in it:)

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
djgirl19 replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will go look for them. I thought Walmart carried the Premier clear but they didn’t have any. What’s the best place everyone is finding variety? I bought a ton of yogurt, soups and sugar free pudding. I’m so ready for my next step. I’ve been lucky I guess. Had very little nausea. No vomiting. Just some tightness when I go a little fast. Just some pain in my incisions LOL I have follow up Friday. -
I did. It was tasty. Also good with half mayo and half greek yogurt.

Ms.sss, I'm nowhere near maintenance (2.5 weeks post-op) but love reading where everyone is at in their journey & so scanned this thread & now I've been thinking about it ALL DAY. I think you said it takes you an hour to eat a meal? And you're struggling to get above 800 calories? At 2.5 weeks it takes me 10 min to eat a meal and I could easily eat 1,000 calories. (I don't, because I'm trying to keep the calories as low as possible as long as possible). I guess I'm both fascinated that it takes you that long to eat & terrified of my own future if it's already this easy for me to eat this close to my surgery date. And I'm really curious what exactly you eat that takes an hour? Is it something dense? A half sandwhich? I I'm still in soft foods which are all so easy for me. Yogurt, eggs, veggies, ground meats, cheese. I can eat 4oz without issue. And I'm getting 65oz of water a day. I'm actually at 60oz of water & 600 calories today & it's only 6pm. I hope these questions don't sound rude because it's not my intention at all. I just can't get this off my mind. I scour these threads & see people saying they're 8 months out & can't get down a 1/4 cup of food & I'm like... maybe my surgeon only removed half my stomach because I am already more fine than I'd like to be. If that makes any sense at all.

Restriction Feeling 2+ years out?
Diana_in_Philly replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 3 years out. I eat about 1500 calories a day because I work out like a maniac (I'm a nationally-competitive fencer in my age group so I work out either doing weight lifting or fencing 2 hours a day 6 days a week.) If I weren't working out like this, I'd probably eat about 1000 calories daily. Here's what my 1500 calorie days sort of look like Breakfast - Skyr Icelandic Greek Yogurt with Granola Factory Granola and 1/2 c. fresh strawberries Lunch - 4 ounces of protein (chicken usually) and about 2 cups of green salad stuff with 1 tablespoon of dressing Afternoon snack - Protein shake made with A2 milk, handful of frozen tropical fruit and protien powder Then I usually have my workout from 6-8 or 7-9. Dinner - 4 ounces protein and a serving of a green vegetable. Sometimes, I'll add a carb - like half a baked potato. I vary what I eat with the following macros - 115g protein, 115g carbs. I can usually eat no more than 4-5 ounces of protein at any given time and then I'm not hungry for a while. If i have eggs in the morning, I'll scramble 2 eggs with a bit of taco cheese and have one piece of whole grain toast. My stomach still makes it very clear when I over-eat. Your mileage may vary. -
but don't understand (the week when I was at 1000/day, I lost 2.5 lbs?? 1000 calories is still your weight loss calories. 2.5 loss is because your body needs more calories. See article below. https://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20140529/fast-weight-loss-may-mean-muscle-loss What are your fat percentages? I consume enough calories to build muscle mass. my body fat percentage is in the 19-24 zone. I'm athletic in the fit/lean zone. do you put any importance on this statistic to yourselves, personally? I put importance on my goal of healthy. I don’t pay attention to my body fat percentage. Many of us lose muscle with rapid weight loss. There is a difference between a low body fat percentage with burnt muscle and with muscle mass. My personal experience after goal, I continued to exercise and not consume enough calories. The result was I burnt muscle and dropped to the 120’s. June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
starladustangel replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's taking me hours to down 1 11oz premier shake right now. No cream of wheat or yogurt or grits or cream soup until next week. I am still not physically hungry but I am missing food right now -
I'm 10 months out and I still drink Miralax in my tea every morning and will make sure I'm getting plenty of fiber in my diet. I'll throw benefiber in my yogurt and premier shakes when I drink them. Congratulations on your poo!

Good luck tomorrow! I just had mine on 5/23 & honestly - it's been great. First 24 hours were way more painful than I expected. Everything else has been easier than I expected. The day after when they finally gave me fluids, it was not hard to get them down. I did the 2oz sipped. Watched the clock and paced myself, but easy. The first 2 weeks of nothing but soups I was climbing the walls. I'm literally... 18 days post op and no complications. I can easily easily drink. I woke up this morning & probably drank 8oz in one sip. I'm being careful to never drink at least 30 min past eating & have made it a personal challenge to get down 65oz of just water per day, but it's not been hard. Liquids go down super easy for me. Meals, 4oz. I'm eating eggs, ground meats, yogurts. A lot of quiche - eggs and cheese & veggies. I've also had no issues whatsoever with swallowing any pills.

5 days post op—the things they did not tell me
Jessviera replied to Jessviera's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hate the fake sweeteners too. I’ve started adding a little garlic powder, salt and pepper to Fage 2% plain Greek yogurt and it’s a nice break from sweet. But oh man, do i was some eggs and cottage cheese! Hang in there!! -
I don't know what a GLP is, but generally with any of these procedures there can be a wide variation between patients as to how rapidly one can progress through liquids into thicker and more solid foods, as well as tolerating different individual foods. A key factor is the amount of inflammation one gets in the stomach and other surgical areas. Liquids may pass through very slowly (thus the usual advice to sip, sip, sip our liquids constantly) if things are swollen inside, or they may pass with little restriction if not. Likewise with the ability to progress on to thicker liquids and purees. I had no problem with thicker and soft things like yogurt or eggs even the first week (yes, that was on our program), but my wife was much slower to progress through those things. It's a big YMMV thing and we all have to go at our own pace

What can you tolerate and when
SusieQ2019 replied to always's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am in my sixth weeks after sleeve and my meals includes, yogurt, bean soup with vegetables, eggs and protein shakes. I had a little chicken yesterday and it felt stuck, so I am crossing off chicken for now. I stopped eating cheese because it was causing constipation and plus high in fat. It't looks like your tiny stomach is telling you what it likes for now. Continue with sipping the soups, and drink protein shakes if you can until you can tolerate other food. Don't force it. Good luck! -
KETO? After surgery
med28thmed replied to njcardi97's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After my surgery, I stay away from carbs because I tend to get full very, very quickly. I can eat a huge bowl of chicken salad, lots of yogurt and fruits, but one or two bites of pasta, I'm done. I eat cheeseburgers w/out the bun, if I want to keep eating. I've been on diet all my life, I'm trying not to restrict myself again with anything. It's working for me. Once I crave something, it's gonna be in my head and ultimately drives me crazy. With the WLS, I can have a taste, satisfy my craving, but not overindulge. You'll find out. It's going to be exciting, and You'll be amazing! Good Luck. -
5 days post op—the things they did not tell me
JanJan19 replied to Jessviera's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
God the cottage cheese craving week one is REAL. The protein shakes made me want to vomit (mentally, I was never actually sick) and was so over soup that week. My week one was no yogurt unless it was drinkable. Actually I think that was supposed to be two weeks for me. -
5 days post op—the things they did not tell me
djgirl19 replied to Jessviera's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey! I’m in the exact same boat and was sleeved on 6/4...lol! I woke up thinking I was dying. LOL a few drugs later and about 8 more hours and I was ok. I literally had a few dreams about biting into food I was so hungry. While liquids helped for awhile I’m now super hungry again and dreaming of cottage cheese and egg. Protein shakes, soup and yogurt are not doing it now. Im super hydrated. This girl wants food. And the overkill of artificial sweeteners is a little much. It’s in everything but the broth. Can’t wait for a little variety. I have another week to go. -
Any ideas for crunchy toppings to have with yogurt? I want something like granola but the protein and carb numbers aren't good.
-
I have purchased several "snacky" high-protein foods, like protein puffs and chips, in single size portions. That said, I almost never eat them and still treat those like a treat (i.e. going to a movie). I find that mostly I eat basic protein-rich meals, veggie omelet, yogurt and berries, peanut butter and thin, whole-grain toast or apple slices. And because I can eat so little, I find I almost never have room or desire left for snacks anyway. My program encourages whole foods, with a focus on protein and fibre, and pretty much no snacking unless it is more than 4 hours between meals. I love the simplicity of the program that my surgical team promotes.
-
More water (not every rumble is for eating), pure protein (meats, tofu, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs) & fat (cheese, nuts, added oils if allowed etc) Good luck 💙
-
Snacks I like: Banana Light Greek Yogurt Light String Cheese 1/4 cup mixed nuts (I know some people can't eat nuts.) Quest bar Protein shake (Some programs do not recommend after a certain point, not sure why?) Besides the banana, protein seems to be the key here if I'm hungry.

Gas and bloating 3 weeks PO
Fazzini Bee replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a small fortune invested into protien powders. I just can't seem to consume enough in a day. I am very restricted even with full liquids. I spoke with the surgeon and he said it will improve. He put me on carefenate (sp-sorry) it's an ulcer preventative and coats the stomach in case of inflammation. I am waiting for my insurance to approve the medicine, which is really annoying. Funny you mentioned probiotics, because I literally just started the Activia drinkable ones. I cannot even eat half a yogurt. -
I snack on hard boiled eggs, mozzarella cheese sticks, thinly sliced cucumbers, carrots and apples. Also Greek yogurt.

Thank you💖💖💖 And I know...Yogurt !!! I wouldn't have guessed i would give it up. I feel so lost on what proteins i want to eat now 😭😭😭😭
