    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Well sais, Fenton There will always be ups and downs. And we will learn to deal with them. I had a great NSV the other day. At the dentist I could never lean over to the "spit" sink and hit it, I usually had most of the yuck on the "bib" they strap around your neck. But this time!!!!! I leaned over and had no problems. I felt like jumping out of the chair with glee  It felt fabulous.

Yesterday was a good day for me also. Used weights, arm curles, lunges and knee bends (thighs are talking to me about it today) Did my sit ups YEA, 100 total. Today is good so far, working on my first round of Water, 33 oz bottle. Almost got it down. That is always my goal before lunch. Having Healthy Choice Soup for lunch and salmon for supper tonight. NSV - I can fit into size 10 pants, and still breath, and no muffin top. I am so excited. OH and bought a Medium size sweather yesterday, and it FITS. OH I also have additional motivation. Found out the my DH's daughter (from previous marriage) is graduation from college in May. I have never met the X-wife, and she will be at the graduation. So, I must look HOT, I mean real HOT. So that is my motivation to drink my water, exercise and to not eat junk food. X-Wife eat your heart out, I will be some kind of arm candy for my DH come May. Take care all, Laura

Boy, I sure wish I had your dedication Lynn! Exercise is my weakness right now. I try, really get on a roll, and then I get busy for a day or two. Once I miss one day working out, it gets very easy to miss day two. And so on.... What's sad is that once I start working out, I love it! I feel great afterwards. But just getting dressed and actually walking down to the basement to get on the treadmill, man, that is harder than actually working out! I try to talk myself out of it at least 5 different ways. I have yet to understand why. Very nice NSV potatie! I can't wait to buy myself something obnoxiously expensive when I hit goal. Maybe a hot, very expensive pair of stilettos???

A pat on the back to all you St. Patty's Day Banders!! I think Jonathan is on the slippery slope. He tends to stay away when he is doing poorly. I hope he finds his second (fifth?) wind and pops back in soon. Interesting NSV for me. I was looking though some old pictures (circa 2004) and was commenting aloud about how good I looked them. My husband asked what I weighted back in then. I said about 217. He then asked how much I weighted today. 208 I said. Then it hit me. With the exception of a few more wrinkles, I look that good- now. One of the reasons I knew I needed to do something about my weight was because I saw a picture of myself (at 284) and was disgusted. Sometimes when I look in the mirror I don't see what is really there. It works both ways.

I think I have plastic surgery in my future. I'm sure the tummy will have to be done. I'm young enough (and vain enough) to want to have the girls done too. The girls have never been very attractive, at least to me anyway, so I think I'll treat myself. I have a long way to go though. Excellent NSV this weekend. Went shopping for my birthday and bought some new summer clothes. I'm down 5 sizes. I haven't been this size since college. It was very inspiring. Sounds like everyone had a good Easter. Mine was nice and quiet. I didn't cook, so there was very little temptation. Lisa - I hope you get those pics working; we'd love to see them. Scrappy - you have to cut yourself a break. You're top of the class when it comes to this lapband stuff. You deserved a reward. I do however tip my hat to you for being so hard on yourself... it's probably why you are so successful. Kudos to you!!!

Scrappy, those family things you shared were precious. Congrats! I got to see my good friend tonight for dinner and when we set up where to go she was so worried I wouldn't be able to eat anything or enjoy dinner. I said, heh, I'll be fine. Let's just go and have fun. I ended up with some meatloaf and mashed potatoes which was a real treat and she was amazed I could eat that even though it took me twice as long to eat half as much as she did. My freind saw me and the first thing she said is I bet you weigh less than me now! I didn't want to say yes, I probably do, and make her feel bad, but I want her to lose weight too but like Scrappy said, she has to think about it and become convinced in her mind when she is ready. I got three more pages put together for my weight loss journey scrapbook. I put a page together about my 100 lb milestone celebration day with friends where I passed out 100-calorie snack packs. Another page is from Easter where I was able to wear the same fancy pink two piece top/skirt set I wore at my sister's wedding 21 years ago. AND... it fit loosely and the two pictures of me years ago versus today is pretty neat. Last scrapbook page I did was my Seatbelt Success story and pictures I posted about from when I went to Florida in May. I took pictures of me with the seatbelt with room to spare and that is a precious NSV I won't forget. Part of the reason I am doing the scrapbook to remember the good times along this journey is so that I will always have that to look back on. In the past when I lost 100 lbs two prior times, sadly so, and regained it back, when I was heavy again I would think how the heck did I lose that 100 lbs and why did I let myself gain this back. I am still plateaued on this same number in the -110-112 lbs range but I got alot of compliments at work especially this week about people who see me in "skinny" size 22 jeans now and can't believe my transformation. I want to get to some magical "12" jeans maybe in a year??? Who knows. Just taking it a day at a time.

This morning I had a small NSV! I got out of the shower and used a regular, standard size bath towel to wrap around myself. There was enough cloth to overlap it in the front! Nothing was gaping (if you know what I mean!) LOL! I guess now I will have to use the beach towels I had been using after showering for... oh I don't know, maybe the beach!!! I had another NSV last night. I went to Lane Bryant to look for a couple of tops. Well, I thought I would try an 18/20 to see if I could get into it. Surprise surprise, too big!! Had to get a 14/16! Amazing to me that back in August, before I started my 6 month, med.-supervised diet and before my May banding, I was wearing a 26/28 top at LB. And sometimes it was tight in the hips! In any case, I had a little weepy moment in the dressing room. I can't believe how proud I am of myself, and of all of us! :whoo: Margaret

Lizrbit, Your right, I didn't eat six of the donuts like I would have before. And good news. I got back on track for the weekend and I can't wait for my monthly wght in on the 1rst. Remember I was 196 on Oct 1. I hope I am in the 180's now. That would be wonderful. My NSV today was that I had my back to my office door this morning and a coworker (dosn't know I had the band) walked in and gasped and said man, your loosin some wght! I said can ya tell...and she said yes! Loved the gasp! Wenjea, I know that it must be so frusterating not having the scale move. My encouragement to you is that you are changing your shape. Isn't it amazing how weights do that. You are probably in better shape than most of us. Looks like you are doing everything right. Just keep doing it. Maybe stop wghing on that scale and worry only about the inches. I am amazed at your wght loss! You should be so proud. Don't worry about rushing the numbers. It will happen, it really really will. By next May...these days will only be a memory! Your gonna be hot! blessings, Weazer

Was getting discouraged again and then WHAM!!! Three, I said three, NSV's right in a row. #1 a former student didn't recognize me while pumping gas on Monday. #2 My 4 year old was playing in my hair and said: "Mommy, your back hump is missing" #3 I had to take off all of my rings, or secure them with smaller, ones because I lost my wedding set in the laundry on Sunday. I was also able to put on my highschool graduation ring. So funny - I was more excited that it slipped off than I was worried that I'd lost it. (I was pretty sure where it was... If I hadn't found it as soon as I noticed it missing this might have been a whole different story) I also went to the October lapband thread and checked out their weight loss since I didn't have any restriction until October 6th. It looks like I'm a little ahead of most of them. So here I am feeling good about myself, and wondering where I will let this take me... hhhmmmm.... I know - I'm on my way to collar bones!!:tt2:

Hey All.....I had an NSV. I tried on a size 12 pants and they fit!! Not sure if I would wear them out of the house yet but they are on and zipped!!!! Scale is not moving much but I have been doing better on the exercise....thanks to Sandra for kicking our butts in gear!! I had a bad stuck experience yesterday, going to the docs in a couple of weeks, not sure about another fill after yesterday!!! I guess you are supposed to chew your food and not inhale it like the old days!!!! How do I forget like that????? Wenjea....good to hear from you again! Maureen

ROTFLOL!! Remember in "Friends" when Joey found his hand-twin? Well, Diva, I think we're arm-twins! :cursing: But seriously, did you say you ate 5.5 (bunless) hotdogs? Or was that a typo? I finally have my first NSV to share: I went back to the gym for the first time since surgery, and after my workout, I was able to stretch much farther than before because I have less belly in the way!!

I hit 50# this AM...so I think I'll go look for a new shirt to treat myself (not sweets like b4band), well, maybe a SF NF Decaf Starbucks (pricey colored water) Last couple of days I decided to get a couple new pairs of pants. I have to put on 2-3 pairs each morning to find one that will fit, then 1/2 way through the day that pair is hanging. I had to go to the regular women's department!!! I actually had to stop myself from gravitating to the Plus department, but those clothes don't fit!!! NSV...My DH (160# soaking wet) sat down on the edge of the bed last night and the side rail (oak) broke (I couldn't help it, I had to smile). If it would have been me I would be sure it was my fat old butt, I would have felt soooo defeated...but it wasn't me!!! :whoo: LOL LOL LOL

Hey Everyone, Melissa - way to go on the size 16. YEA you are doing so great. Cindyluhu - Med PJs-- way to go with the NSV. Sue - thanks for your comments conserning the reflux. Doc appt on thursday. Will see what he has to say about it. I have been takeing notice the past few days, when does the heartburn start, what did I eat before etc. I have found that I get it most in the morning. After I take my allergy meds. I have been taking them on an empty stomach. Wonder if that is what is some of the cause? Will try in the morning taking it with food and see. Ragdoll - I can fully relate to you with the funk issue. I have been in this funny place lately. Even my DH has noticed. It is not that I am doing real bad, but I have not been doing real good either. What do they say "This too shall pass!" We have started down the road of a very long journey. It will not happen overnight, there will be pitfalls and downfalls, we will get side tracked. But, we have our band to keep us on this road to a better us. And, we have each other to see us along this journey. Hang in there! Oh, I am having to sweep up hair also. It has slowed down a little, also noticed while I was blow drying my hair yesterday, little new hair growing out. Take Care All Laura

Hi Everyone, I've been reading here, just haven't had much to say the last few days, so that's my reason for not being here. I'm still on track but finding it harder to eat the right foods, but I'm down another 3 lbs this week for a total of 22 lbs lost since surgery and a grand total of 42 lbs since January, so I can't complain. I'm shooting to lose another 8 lbs by end of May before we leave on our vacation June 1 and I'm on track for that. Fenton, congrats on the 6" loss in pants size, that is an awesome NSV. I'm looking forward to my 2nd fill on May 23 and hoping for more restriction as I seem to be able to eat probably a cup or more of food right now which is more than I've been able to eat in the past. I just make myself stop eating and so far so good. I do think I have a little restriction since my first fill on April 25, but know that I need more. Everyone keep up the good work, I know it's hard, but we can do it.

Hey, I just came on to post a NSV and I saw someone had beat me too it! Way to go Cindy! I went and had lunch today..they had some baked talapia (fish) I thought would be a good thing for me to eat. Well, ate about half of it, but I was going real slow cause I could feel it kinda sticking. Sure enough I had to get up and run to the bathroom, praying the whole way i would make it ontime. PB'd that so went back and had a couple of slices off pickled beets that came off the salad bar..nice and soft so I thought they would work... again, I had to excuse myself and run to the bathroom (sliming and trying not to look like it). So I went back to the table and grabbed a to go box and told the girls at the table who were all looking at me like...do I need to worry about you? I just told them I was having some gastro problems. Anyway...I have some yogurt and a bananna in my office, I will try that later. wow, this third fill is really different...I have to get used to it. I am hoping it settles in a bit better than this. If not..I am going to lose weight fast. My NSV is that when I was walking back to my office...I got chased down by a skinny coworker who I havn't talked to in several months she said, (no hello how are ya) I need you to write down everything your eating because I want to loose weight too! Can you believe it...someone noticed! Yeah! Yippie....she made my day. Blessings

Lynn, you can't let yourself sweat plateaus! They're going to happen, they're a natural part of weight loss, and while the weight may be staying the same, you're still losing fat. You have to keep that in mind when the needle becomes lazy, and focus instead on NSV's. Like how good you feel, or a suddenly useless belt! My brother's overweight too; I'd like him to get a band. I didn't say that Tuesday night, but I talked about how important it is to lose weight, and how the band is pretty much foolproof. He didn't say anything about the bread; he had the same amount of bread as I did, but he had a bass ceviche appetizer and then a big steak entree, while all I had was half of a crab entree. I'm going to work on the band idea with him next week. He's one of these high-powered businessmen, huge salary, millions of dollars in bonuses, and that's all very well, but it comes with huge amounts of stress. I think it might be hard for him to take a week off to get banded. He's talking about going back to the famous medical weight loss center where, after his last visit, he lost 60 pounds. But statistically, supposedly, when you have more than 25 pounds to lose, it's almost impossible to keep it off without surgery.

Congratulations on the NSV's! Special K you have done such a good job. You must have felt awesome getting on those rides. When was the last time you were able to do that? Fenton....WOOOHOOOOOOOO 24 pounds! Wow. when you focus you really can get the weight off. Awesome job! I have to move my appointment. I have to work tomorrow, so I can't make it. I will reschedule for next month after DH leaves for Afghanistan again. I know it's going to slow my loss AGAIN, but it will be OK. Amanda....How are you doing? Chica how goes it? Any date yet? Good Sunday Afternoon Ladies! It is NSV time for me! (Non-Scale Victories) (but they are because if it wasnt for the scale going down, I would not be able to experience these!! LOL) We had our church picnic this morning at the Park...of course concerned in what to wear, i.e. with it being so hot, sweating, uncomfortable, etc. Welll...I had a blast! Yes, a Tank Top, of course the arms look big, but it was cool, started out with an overshirt, but as it got warm, as I ran through the water sprinkler park and played, and then even played Volleyball for a round! With energy to boot! Keeping hydrated, and bringing a little bit of my own meals to eat helped with lots of fluids. I used to dread this kind of outing, can't believe how much fun I had! Reggie, woman, you are on deck! "It's time to make that change", and you are gonna do so well! Heather & smallerj continue to prepare well, Candra too! Candra, no you don't need that much room at all for the Wii Fit, just like a square box round the fit board, and you'll be fine. Tina, you go momma! I know what u mean about the baggy clothes, somethin I also deal with, because if the fat is not there to 'protect' me, something needs to! But I wore a tank top today and worked it (wearing it, not feelin bad). Candi skinny momma, you go, can I have your 16's? lolol Hope the rest of our group is doing well, keep up the liquids with all the heat and get ready to feel less of it with losing more and more 'insulation' (I always had my private supply. lol) Have a good sunday eve.

Oh, Lee - was just thinking was a nice NSV it would be to have less luggage when we go visit the inlaws! Good one!
  23. Tracy... Happy Anniversary!!! And congrats on all the NSV's! You deserve them, for sure!! Enjoy your weekend. And never you mind about the hot tub. What goes on in the hot tub, stays in the hot tub.
  24. Haydee – get well soon! Laura & Terry – I am extremely tight today as well. I don’t know if it was the overeating and aggravating it yesterday – or just scaring the stuff from slipping thread. I have been getting in 128 oz of liquid a day (gulps are fine) – today not even 64 oz – sips every 15-20 minutes. Could it be the full moon? I haven’t had a fill since 1/10. Scale was up today 3 lbs and rings that barely stay on fingers – tight as can be. TracyK – Happy Birthday! – I personally am so proud of you to be close to goal – and know that just because you have a few pounds – it is no different that the 70 lbs – if anything more frustrating due to the fact the scale moves even more slowly the closer you get to goal. And for the record – some doctors recommend you indulge like you did today occasionally! You are doing great – this was just one day – for the overall good! Terry – How is your Mom doing? Judy - how wonderful for you to find such deals on clothing and having NSV’s! Laura – wonderful NSV for you as well. Kat – How is the tooth? You are so brave to go through the pannectomy – I can’t even think about another surgery. Tracy – love the hair/highlights! You are beautiful. Jenn – Monday will be here before you know it. Your Mom sounds wonderful and what a wonderful NSV on the sizes and that will make you even more confident on Monday! HAVE A GREAT DAY TOMORROW EVERYONE!
  25. Good Thurs Morn, Vi's~~ It's only 9:29am and I've already had an AMAZING NSV!! DS and I purchased cheap-o tennis racquets & a bag o' balls yesterday and this morning he woke me up & we went down to the park and "played" tennis for an hour!! AND... he was actually impressed that I knew what I was doing and could hit the ball (me, too, come to think of it!!)!! I had sweat pouring... & I *hate* sweating!... but I liked it!! It's been YEARS since I've hit a ball... and I realized that a year or so ago I wouldn't have been able to do that... and I was happy & proud & MOTIVATED to CONTINUE the journey that I've been "pit-stopped" on for awhile now. Everyone think of at least one NSV for this moment... c'mon, you can do it!! & share w/the group.
