    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I just had my first NSV....We had a death in the family, so I had to go shopping for something to wear to the Funeral. Before surgery I was a size 22/24. The dress I just bought was a size 16!!!!!!

suzzzie GREAT total WL. glad you were able to get your ticker updated, the visual helps Celebrate:whoo:!! Enjoy your NSV with the clothes!! nv you most likely need a fill. Like the others said, it takes a while to get there. I have 6cc in my 10cc and feel some restriction but not to the point of only accepting 3 bites! However, I want to get to the sweet spot, but I don't want to be pbing either. Some docs will put in tiny bits at a time. if you only have 1cc, I am thinking your band size is not a 10 but a 4 something? when is your next appointment? My three fills were 4 weeks apart. I don't have another appointment until December, 8 weeks, and my NP told me to make an appointment for a flouro fill in between if I feel I need it. All docs are different. stef/suzzzie I looked at the bracelets, they are designer!! Like you suzzie I never thought of wearing one because I did not want a sign on me for that, but now that I see the nice ones, I think I will go for it! I wish I new a beader like Stef to make me different ones! I am thinking at the mall and some stores, you could buy the beaded ristlets that are availbalbe for watches and they would be the same? Stef, what do you think??

Stef thanks for your support! I truly appreciate it. After posting this morning before my shower I got on the scale and I am at 197? so who the heck knows. I will take it! When I went in to the lab for my fill yesterday, there were about 5 woman all waiting, it was all their first. One woman said to me, wow you look great, and did not even think I had it. When people give you what are seen as positive, can turn into a sabotage! Stef do you ever slip into that trap, when your family tells you to stop losing, giving yourself permission to eat? I try to prevent it, but it can give you a green light to be off the goals. Suzzzzie You are doing FANTASTIC!! 75 big ones! that body bug is really giving you the positives isn't it? Julie great NSV, clothes that are smaller makes you feel fantastic!!! thanks for the group support, it is great. Speaking of, where is Toni, Dan, Margo, Heather?

An EXCELLENT NSV, Suzzzie.! I've never flown Southwest and after watching the A&E series Airline, I never will. I'm too scared I would be one of those people they pull out of line and make try out a seat, and I'm not a fan of herding folks like cattle onto a plane as a free-for-all for seats. I can't stand General Admission concerts, I really don't want my plane to be General Admission, too. I could be totally wrong about the experience, though. One of these days I'm sure I'll get on a Southwest flight. I mostly fly American. I'm also a big fan of Ryan Air and AerLingus for their level of service internationally.
  7. Haydee – get well soon! Laura & Terry – I am extremely tight today as well. I don’t know if it was the overeating and aggravating it yesterday – or just scaring the stuff from slipping thread. I have been getting in 128 oz of liquid a day (gulps are fine) – today not even 64 oz – sips every 15-20 minutes. Could it be the full moon? I haven’t had a fill since 1/10. Scale was up today 3 lbs and rings that barely stay on fingers – tight as can be. TracyK – Happy Birthday! – I personally am so proud of you to be close to goal – and know that just because you have a few pounds – it is no different that the 70 lbs – if anything more frustrating due to the fact the scale moves even more slowly the closer you get to goal. And for the record – some doctors recommend you indulge like you did today occasionally! You are doing great – this was just one day – for the overall good! Terry – How is your Mom doing? Judy - how wonderful for you to find such deals on clothing and having NSV’s! Laura – wonderful NSV for you as well. Kat – How is the tooth? You are so brave to go through the pannectomy – I can’t even think about another surgery. Tracy – love the hair/highlights! You are beautiful. Jenn – Monday will be here before you know it. Your Mom sounds wonderful and what a wonderful NSV on the sizes and that will make you even more confident on Monday! HAVE A GREAT DAY TOMORROW EVERYONE!
  8. Welcome Crystal. Join in when you can. I'm all in for the liquid diet and I'm shooting for all week. Jenn and Judy, you need to keep me going. I'll need the extra help this week. Our Sunday was wonderful and so was the food. My sister and attended Mass and I was also one of the Eucharistic Ministers for the Mass. Ended up sending food home with everyone which will really help out. I got lots of compliments today. I guess spending a little extra time on my hair paid off. NSV. I discovered today that I have very boney elbows. And I found that out when I found that my thighs were hurting form my elbows digging into them. It's amazing, I actually have thighs to put my elbows on now. I even find myself putting my hands on my knees and pushing off when I stand up. Never was able to do that before. Glad everyone had a great day and hope that this is just the starting to a very wonderful week for us all. Jenn and Judy, hope we get more to join us on the liquids this week.
  9. Hiya girls! What a day!!! Check in has officially begun, the sea of RV's and stock trailers goes on forever!!!! But the excitement is infectuous!! The kids are for the most part, great kids! I had some really HAPPY people with the housing situation, and I got the local Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota dealers to do some loaners----Once one was in all were in!!! Competition is wonderful!!! Anyway, we were able to accomodate everyones needs so far. Actually spent an hour at the ER. One of the contestants Moms was getting out of the truck and the door closed on her leg, and she needed 7 stitches in it! I took her over, really nice lady. I remembered just before we left, to have my friend Bev, be sure she knew the son, and that they could call my cell---and he did 3 times!!! She is back out there, and going to be fine! It is ALWAYS something! Part of me really hates leaving right now....the other part of me knows if I don't I will be burnt out before my part even begins!!! So we are leaving in the morning. I think I have everything ready. Terry, Abbey has a placental tear. It is not an abruption, it is not pulling away from the uterine wall, and it is not in the area of umbilical attachment. It is just a tear of the placenta. When it first happened, she had a lot of bright red bleeding. They were able to pick up the heartbeat, without a problem so they sent her to ultrasound, and the baby did not seem to be in any distress. So slowly the bleeding eased, and just stayed a spotty dark brown old blood, he said there was a hematoma---a bruise--where the tear was so the old blood would drain off. Well everytime she does anything, the bleeding resumes. They use the doplar and are able to get the heartbeat each time with no problem, they do not want to ultrasound again for 5 weeks! They said the ultrasound bounces sound waves off of the placenta, and could further damage it. So now she is on strict and total bedrest. He said if they can get the placenta to heal, and stay healed she will not have any problems. If it keeps tearing, it will eventually become a big enough tear it will abrupt and bleed out completely which will deprive the baby, and she will have a mid term miscarriage. She is 13.4 weeks along. This is usually not an issue after the first trimester, but for her it continues to nag along. Needless to say everytime she sees red blood she goes into a panic. She was so thrilled about the pregnancy, and went through the first part so easily, not any morning sickness, or anything....this happen, and they do not know why, she did not fall, or lift anything---they have no idea. NSV.....this morning checking in kids, a friend of mine come up and we were visiting, she was with her sister, who I know, just not as well. All of a sudden the sister says "Oh my Gosh! I just realized who you were, or are!" She said she was off in space in her head counting stalls, and knew Twila was chatting with someone she knew, it just didn't click it was someone she knew too! I had not seen her since before banding!!! Was kinda nice!! The NHSFR was here 4 years ago....so I met some of the stock suppliers, and vendors and all back then, I have had some seriously shocked people today. Made me feel like a million bucks, despite the fact my left side continues to swell! Great bags Michelle, I loved the one you were working on in the car on our trip! All you creative Violets....then there is me!!! Well, I am off to fold another load of laundry. Got the house all cleaned and ready to leave. Where we are going is under a flood watch right now......might be an interesting trip!!! Kat
  10. Good Thurs Morn, Vi's~~ It's only 9:29am and I've already had an AMAZING NSV!! DS and I purchased cheap-o tennis racquets & a bag o' balls yesterday and this morning he woke me up & we went down to the park and "played" tennis for an hour!! AND... he was actually impressed that I knew what I was doing and could hit the ball (me, too, come to think of it!!)!! I had sweat pouring... & I *hate* sweating!... but I liked it!! It's been YEARS since I've hit a ball... and I realized that a year or so ago I wouldn't have been able to do that... and I was happy & proud & MOTIVATED to CONTINUE the journey that I've been "pit-stopped" on for awhile now. Everyone think of at least one NSV for this moment... c'mon, you can do it!! & share w/the group.
  11. Uh Terry? That's EXACTLY the point... a NON SCALE Victory... no scale involved!! C'mon... there's gotta be SOMETHING... Yay TracyKS!! That certainly IS an NSV!! Hey gals... remember that market bag that I was knitting in TX?... well, I've made up 6 different ones (different color combos of the varigated yarn) and I'm going to take them around to some shops downtown this afternoon & see if I can get some orders for them to sell! OMG, just typing that gives me butterflies in my tummy! But everyone keeps telling me to try, so... I guess we'll see!!
  12. Hey~ Today for food this is what I had: 1/2 c. low fat cottage cheese = 100c 1 Kashi gran. bar = 180c 3 oz tuna = 90c lettuce = ? oil/vinegar = 80 tangerine = ? 17 pretzles = 110c 1/3 cobb sal = ? 1 piece of garlic bread = ? 1 JAZZERCISE...kick yo ass class = priceless (LOL) OK...the last two entries were a bit naughty, especially the bread. My brother invited me to dinner (who could resist a free dinner w/ little bro @ fav resturaunt). I don't know what the total is. Before the invitation, I was planning on a Lean Cuisine (all for me these days, the dog is pretty upset I got an unfil...:frown: @ Michelle). Anyway, good, bad or indifferent I DONT KNOW. I am not gonna weigh for a week or two...just gonna keep doing good. I just dont want to see 250 again. I am sure you all are as tired of my 250 as I am. Anyway...that is my story. Oh yeah, about 60 oz of water! OK...have a great night. PS- Had a great NSV today. I wore a shirt that I bought tight, and wore once. The shirt was gapped at the buttons before (not sure what size). Anyway, I first put on a shirt and I was swimming in it. Looked horrible. So I see this "older" shirt, and thought, well I'll just try it and see. It looked great, plenty of room, I wore it today and got sooo many compliments. People today for the first time since April/May have said, "you're lookin good!" Woofreakinhoo ladies! Made me feel soooo good!
  13. Good Morning!!!!!! brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr cold cold cold today! TracyK you are entitled to a bday feast..... (just imagine if it were bday without a band) our version of a feast now... would of just pissed us off a year ago! LOL Gina: your rings being tight is a sure sign of Water retention... (its how I guage the scale everyday......) Judy: WHAT WONDERFUL NSV's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW JENN that is great!!!!!!!! sounds like you got a whole new wardrobe too... where are our update pics???????????? Haydee: I hope you start feeling better Suzie: BUNDLE UP!!!!!!!! Pam: Hope your day is wonderful!!!!!! Jane: How are you feeling today???? Terri: I am wearing your earrings again today (I wear them a lot) Kat: when do you find out your surgery date??? Good luck with the glasses Michelle: Hows the book fair planning? Denise: I've been meaining to CONGRATULATE YOU ON THE NEW HOUSE! and I keep watching your numbers... soooooo close to ONEderland. Laura: My mortgage interest and my HELOC interest is what keeps me in the black at tax time! I know I'm missing someone... (I STINK AT PERSONALS which is why I rarely do them) OK...... for my NSV......... yesterday I had my new DL pic taken.... It is better than my last one (which was taken during my latest regain at about 209)................ this one has 190 lbs and a pretty HAWT pic for a dl! when I get the hard copy in the mail I will scan and post.... (I wanted to take advantage of my hair and tan and ONEderland status) Also this morning....... I came out of my room and my son met me in the hallway and he say........ "oh momma you look so pretty today!" that just touched my heart. Going to try and get my water in today....... Have a good one!
  14. Hello Vi's!~~ No, Judy, I did not get to rest or relax today... not yet, anyway. But it's rain-storming here now thru tomorrow so all ds's soccer practices & games for tonight & tomorrow have been cancelled, so I'm thinking that in a few I may crash on the couch & finally RELAX!! I had a MAJOR NSV today!! Today 2 friends & I went to "Let's Dish!", the food prep kitchen where I used to work part-time 'til last Fall, to dish up some tasty meals for the month. Even tho I don't work there, I still go there 1x/mo to dish dinners & chat w/everyone. So I'm there and in walks a former co-worker, Tammy, and I say, "Hi Tammy!" and she looks at me and... ready for it?... SHE DID NOT RECOGNIZE ME!! This is the first time that this has happened to me since banding! I've had people notice my wt loss (esp. this past week @ school, I've been basking in all the compliments, actually), but not completely not know it's me! Of course, once she realized it was me, she freaked out & wanted to know ALL about the band. She could use it. Not being mean, just honest. Hey, if a former fattie can't be honest w/a current one, then we're all doomed! So that was WAY COOL! But then we went out to lunch @ Red, Hot & Blue (a BBQ place) and I got the Chop salad w/chicken on it and I barely ate 3 or 4 bites and BAM! I knew I had to PB it all up... so off to the bathroom I go, and we all know what happened there, so I won't bore you w/the details... WEIRD! My 2nd full-fledged PB in a week! Of course, I didn't eat any more, brought it home, and am now starving (my tummy's even rumbling loudly) & I'm scared to eat it!! Grrrrr. And that's my day! How's yours??
  15. Tracy~ I used to get my lip waxed, and then about a week later, I'd have a dozen horrible blisters. I thought they were fever blisters, until after about 3 times, I realized it is from the hot wax. Now, I bought Sally Hansen Lip Dipilatory Cream, and do it at home about 3 times a year. Does not burn and more importantly does not blister. I must have sensitive skin there cause I get eyebrows done about 2x a month and beside some redness, no problems. Are you going for the Brazilian??? LOL Anyway, that is my 2 cents. I am sooo pissed again. I need a drink already and it is not even 11am. Oddly enough I don't drink but a few times a year...maybe I should start. NSV...3 large PINK BOXES full of donuts...walked right past them about 6 times already. Not worth the calories. Now chips, kickin salsa and a margarita...that is worth the calories!
  16. Here's some pics. First, the NSV!!!! Legs crossed COMFORTABLY on the plane.. and I got lots of legs. And the seatbelt is no where near tight. HOORAH. This was me BEFORE I had to bundle up. And then these are taken in Central Park.. And I'm not sure where we were for this one.. The coat is an NSV too. Last time I bought from Burlington Coat Factory (about 6 years ago with parents), they had the patchwork suede coats, and I remember crying because the only thing in my size were ladies coats.. boring black trenches, etc. The day before the trip we went to BCF to find a warm coat. I was looking in plus size. I am 2x in coats I guess, I saw ONE cute coat in 3x.. and ONE cute coat in 1x. The 3x was just way too big. There was nothing in 2x that was trendy at all. I was really getting frustrated. So I decided to try the 1x coat. And Voila. there it is! I'm wearin a 1x coat!!
  17. Tracy... Happy Anniversary!!! And congrats on all the NSV's! You deserve them, for sure!! Enjoy your weekend. And never you mind about the hot tub. What goes on in the hot tub, stays in the hot tub.

Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Laura! I loved the pictures! Congrats on ALL your NSV's! There's plenty more to come, too!! But crossing your legs is a HUGE one! You look sooooo cute in all of your pictures and the snow is so pretty. Kat - What's the difference between a pannectomy and a TT? I thought they were the same thing! Sorry you're sick....yuck. Take care, ok? Tracy - I'm curious, why did your doc give you prednisone? For your ear infection? That's kind of odd, I think. Hmmm. (I used to be a nursing student, can you tell? LOL) TracyK - hope you and DH are havin' a great time! Judy - Where are you going for your cruise? Somewhere WARM I hope! Suzie - thanks for the words of encouragement...and you're so right. When this is all over I will feel better knowing I did all I could for her, even if right now it just doesn't seem like enough. My sister stayed with her today and I went by for lunch...but tonight I'm at home with my kiddos and all is right with the world...well, at least on our block. I have been living on cottage cheese and oatmeal all week. The stress along with a new fill have made all else just about impossible to eat. I did manage to get a cheese enchilada down my pie hole tonight. It was delish. The (slim) lady at the table next to me polished off three of them, along with rice, beans and chips! Did we used to eat that much??? I am totally exhausted tonight. I can't wait to go to bed!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  19. NSV. I ordered an Obama O8 long sleeved t shirt, XL. It arrived yesterday and it's tooooooooo big. But I'm wearing it anyway! I'm proud to be a Democrat, proud of Obama (sorry, Laura) and WAY proud that an XL is too big! Suzie... the pool heater is IN. Now it's waiting for the guys to dig the gas line. The pool guy said one of his customers had their pool open through November and it cost them $400 a month to heat it that last month! :smile2: I'm aiming to have it open through October and that's it. But at least we can open it up in April next year instead of June.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

I agree Carol. It is amazing shopping at a normal store, off the shelf!!! And it's a lot less $$$. For me, the NSV's are my main source of motivation... way more than the scale. Right now the scale is my main source of frustration. I've only lost about 4 lbs in the last 2 months, but have dropped several inches and 1-1/2 sizes. So I know I'm losing fat and gaining muscle... which is great... but I really also want the scale to drop. Does anyone know what fat % is considered normal for a woman?? I know I'm still too high, but would like to know where I need to stop.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Whosya... careful... if you relax at all, your heart might stop completely! OMG how fit are you! Congrats! Georgia... great NSV! Lacey... how'd your surgery go? Congrats on all the great progress everyone's making, especially those on the C25k... you guys are doing so great. Ok, I've now taken the full week off. Even though my strep is gone, the medication really did a number on my stomach. I've pretty much been on full fluids for the last few days as nothing stays down. I took my last dose this morning, so hopefully the irritation will stop and I can get back to myself... be able to eat and actually have some energy!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I know my clothes feel better and my daughters teacher said my shirt looked really nice on me, I wear it ofter, but she was looking at me like she was trying to see what was different about me. I did have a NSV today! I wore my size 12 slacks and they felt very comfortable, not snug at all. I am feeling more hungry and can tell my restriction is pretty much gone. If it wasn't for South Beach, I think I'd be in trouble!!!:faint: I feel like I am eating a little too well, but it is all on plan, so I will know for sure when I weigh in.
  23. Frustr8

    Smooth Sailing for Anyone?

Oh I did have a seamless surgery, for the first 2 weeks except for having a bleed across my Fat tummy from a small skin blood vessel I was moving right along, losing back down my su4gery water weight and then more! I thought I had the bad things of Baiatrics beaten. And then suddenly I stopped and every time I attempted to eat anything expected except fluids, surgeon told me at 2 weeks I could handle stage 3 , keep moving along my diet. All the sudden I was not his " happy normal RnY camper" any more. After whining a little, okay 3 times a week, to shut my lips up they scheduled an Endoscopy, surprise surprise I was the unhappy step- mother of a stomal stricture and a bunch of ulcers in my jejunem, I knew something was WRONG, it wasn't just post-surgery swelling because that's what his Nurse Practioner kept saying. I might not have the Fancy degrees--- but Baby, I knew ME. Been living in this body a Good Many Years! And after 5 months I still haven't let go of that Tornado's Tail! But I will, maybe a couple more dialating Endoscopies, I'll be all better, the PZICC line can come out, and I will be eating like all the rest of my surgery day twins! The difference between me and them? Even when I am all better , I will not drop out, go away, because my Bari- brothers and sisters have been so supportive I will remain a Bariatric Pal person. Maybe I might not post as much, but I will still cheer on others as they did me! No regret, no sorrow, even with the Minor Bumps in My Roadway I shall be a Proud RnY, grateful for my remaking, even at 73 I am still living better, healthier than I could prior. My PCP has to now admit I saved me from Death by a few years, I was getting That Bad, of course he wants to take credit for suggesting it to ME, nope I brought up the subject in 2015, when he and I were certain I would never make it to 2020 alive, at the very least I would be in a LTF, also known as a nursing home, because my body would be so broken down. Now I am thinner, not as much as I desired, the TPN has slowed down my weight plummet to 3 pounds a month, but I now grow healthier each and every day, that may not be a spectacular NSV to everyone else, but even outsiders say "You're so looking so much better," must have been as ugly as a pile of mud before, I smile And say Thank You, only my peers on here know my stuggles to get, this far, if they ask I MIGHT tell them about the surgery, otherwise they canbthink,i came to my senses and did it all MYSELF, good for my formerly battered Ego and sense of pride. I'm doing much better as a Happier Smaller Widow than I did. a mentally abused. despondent wife, big as the side of a barn, afraid to step outside without protection, cause I thought every other person loathed looking at me. Now I am emotionally strong enough to stand up on my own, if I make mistakes they are mine to make, don't have to live in someone's shadow apologizing for even existing. Mine is somewhat a difficult story, but be True to Yourself, in the long run, that's the Only Boss you'll need, as the Late Ricky Nelson wrote " If you can't please Everyone, better please Yourself!" Frustr8 out, have yourself a dyn-o-mite day.😛👍

    February 2007 bandsters!

LOL I love this thread! It's flat out gorgeous today here in north central Kansas, so I'm going walking on my lunch break, too! I've had a Curves membership for about 7 months now, and I've had every excuse in the book to not go. Well, I'm re-committing to make myself go at LEAST 3 times a week, and I'm aiming for 4 or 5. I really love the ladies there, no one ever makes you feel like you shouldn't be there, they're always encouraging, and they always have a smile on! GO ME!!! Oh, by the way, I had a MAJOR NSV last night! I went down a pant size!!!!!! I'm down from a very tight 24 stretch to a very comfy 22!!!!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
