  1. I have not been here in quite a while, and I have been having some struggles with my weight lately, so I figured I could get some support here!

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond - holiday distractions!

I am so sorry all that has happened to you! You have had a lot going on and a lot of disappointments. I am struggling a bit too (especially after Easter weekend) and am going to go back to basics And write things down. I am going to go back to basics and try to get to my next goal. What was your goal weight? Mine is kind of a moving target lol. I now am aiming for 160 since I hit 170. I am sure I gained a couple over the weekend but am back on track today so far :-)

Barb, I was originally going for 156, but now I would be happy with 165 pounds I think. The lowest I got was 172 pounds, but it did not last but a day or two! The lowest I had got that actually lasted a bit was 175. However to do that I was all my feet all day and doing a lot of walking, bending, going up and down step ladders at that job I had in Family Dollar. That job was just to hard on me physically though at my age of almost 58 years old with the problems I have with my body from Celiac and Fibromyelgia. I have been getting out and walking a lot lately, and I walk between 3.5 to 4.20 miles at a time with our dogs, and I have improved on my time, and can do it in less time than I was doing, so that's good. My weight however seems to be STUCK at 192 pounds! I'm at least down 2 pounds though since was 194, but I just want to be back where I was like yesterday! LOL It was so much easier for the weight to fall off that first year after surgery! I wish it would still come off that easy! :( My Gastric doctor, and his staff all think I have done a great job, but I'm not happy with myself lately. I know I'm doing what I am suppose to do, but my stupid body will not do what it's supposed to do!

It sounds like you are doing all the right things! I have been going through the same struggles. I think our age has a lot to do with it unfortunately. It sounds like the walking and being active are helping - it may just take a bit longer. Good luck to you and try to enjoy where you are at!

  2. Over the winter I have found myself getting off track. Within the last two months I have gained almost 15 lbs back. So I am currently back at 150. Today I started the 5 day pouch test. Have kept to it all day , yay me! Thought maybe being back on this site would help me get back on track... I do have to say I miss the old site with the chat room :(

  3. Hold it! I just realized Ive lost 1/3 of my excess weight. And only 59 days post-pre-op-diet... Gotta take advantage of this honeymoon period!

  8. Will be 3 years since surgery on March 5th!! Still maintaining my weight goal of 145 lbs. I am eating healthly and exercising everyday. My life is mine again and if I want to do it I do, my weight doesn't hold me back from enjoying life anymore! Thank you Dr. Seger and BMI of Texas!!

  9. Surgeon follow up- 6wks post- So far I have been doing good. I asked about the stricture with solids. He advised it is normal. The way my stomach was designed it will stretch eventually little by little so solids will go down easier. It takes about a year for the stomach to reach the size it was intended to be. He said 6mths from now, I should be able to eat solids comfortably, just very little portions of course. Am allowed to start weights and I have to increase my water intake. That's all for now.

He also advised that drinking before food is not that crucial. It is drinking after eating that is crucial. The 30 minute wait is more important after eating then it is before eating. He used the analogy of a straw. Liquid first, food after, no problems. Food in a straw, then add liquid, problems.

  10. Next Tuesday is my 6 week check up. Hopefully I will be able to change my weight on my profile!!

  11. Ugh so disgusted with myself, I gained 2 lbs for the first time in 7 months and I am so upset. Looks like it's time to re-evaluate what I am doing and eating!!!

    1. pink dahlia

      pink dahlia

Instead of being "disgusted with myself " over a tiny , normal fluctuation of 2 lbs, how about giving yourself a pat on the back for your progress so far ?

    2. BladeFox

      BladeFox

Pup, it happens to the best of us. This is what happens when you realize that you can eat a certain food that you hadn't been able to eat..or it could be hormonal or salt. You have been doing so great and I am proud of you, so you better not beat yourself up about this!!!

    3. pupichupi

      pupichupi

@Miss Mac good luck with your appt., @BladeFox thanks girl, I am really trying not to beat myself up, just chocking it up as a learning lesson, I havent found anything new I can eat, so I don't know how this happen, but I wasn't feeling good at all yesterday sharp pains in my stomach so I am wondering if that had a part in all of this? So I will just keep plugging along with this and see if next week is better? I was only 4 lbs from 200 and that is what discourages me, cause I am so close to onderland? lol

  12. Dr.s office called and rescheduled my 6 month check up. it is about 3 weeks earlier than I expected. I really wanted to be under 200 by then. With my weight loss slowing down, I may not make it. But on the bright side...I haven't been this light for years! It will be great to lose through the holidays for the first time EVER!!

  13. Dreading doctor visit today -- weight loss great -- labs (iron) not so good...

    1. shmily

      shmily

are you taking a separate iron supplement? I do. I believe it is 27 mg daily in chewable.....

    2. Beni

      Beni

I am taking 18mg of iron twice per day - it's what is on the two multi vitamin Centrum pills . I just decided to have them 12 hours apart 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM because vitamins that aren't used are tinkled away and this way I was spreading the load. This does mean I have to take pills 4 times per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime). Were you taking about this amount? Please let us know what the doctor advised. You'll get it right, no worries. This is why we get tested.

    3. jodie1961

  18. Little depressing - went to buy new jeans (just one pair) I have some smaller ones but they just look too tight. Problem, my legs and around my knee apparently have not received the update I have lost 50+ pds. I have a size 16 butt and hips and size 20 legs. I darted the old pants till it looks stupid (like something moved out of the ass of my pants). Glad the weight is going by dang wish it would kinda loose from everywhere at the same time.
