Way, Way, WAY TMI! I don't think I would have wanted to see that...Wow, just WOW...

    Post op march sleevers

Two new issues: my hands are FREEEEEZING!!!! I'm usually hot and now I'm COLD! Wasn't expecting that! And (maybe TMI) watery diarrhea....ugh!!! But otherwise doing great!
  3. TMI moment coming... I suffer from Endometreosis and PCOS. Before I had my surgery, I had my period for 4 months straight and the time before that about 3 months!!! Since I had this surgery and lost a few pounds, i'm actually on a normal, monthly cycle. It likes a miracle every month :smile2: Best, Lauren

    7/11/09 I'm OVERWEIGHT!!!

WOW, I had an all food day yesterday. I was amazed everything went so well. I am taking it slow. With the head ache are you getting all the water. Yes, that's a dumb question, you probably are. I get head aches when I do not drink enough. I had a 37 pound loss but that is from first weigh in at Pre op to post op first visit. I am Happy. Ok BG what is TMI? Have a nice day. Kathy imaluckydog
  5. So I had my vsg Tuesday the 17th..its been rough these past few days! Gas is killing me, I feel it all over my body it seems! Also, (maybe tmi), but my left butt cheek has been hurting sooo bad! I just felt of it to see if it feels bruised, but it actuallu feels numb. What in the world? I'm confused. Also, how long did it take for you to get hungry for anything? I came home yesterday, and I've been sleeping for the most part, but I am not hungry at all!! I've been sipping Water..but nothing else..just not hungry yet. Idk?

    Falling into bad habits

Oh, I found it! I'm not going to do that specifically but I gained a lot of insight from it. I am going to stick to my tight feeling proteins from now on and lay off the carbs. I guess in my mind I thought I was one of the lucky ones who could eat more. I'm realizing that just because I can, doesn't mean I should. I feel reassured, in kind of a sick way, that my pouch is working. I was a good girl at dinner and ate broiled tilapia. But, I ate it at the rate I was eating my wheat thins. Well, guess what! Sorry to give TMI, but I barfed in a ton of napkins. So, my pouch is still good. Just need to let it do its job without cheating around sliders.

So how did I fair a stomach virus

Well I was always told by my surgeon that lapband patients should never throw up and this question has come up many times on the forums what happens if you get a stomach virus. Well I haven't had one in about 2 decades so I was kind of hoping I wouldn't ever get one again. Well last night after dinner my stomach felt like crap. I only ate a small amount of pork but I took some prilosec and went to bed. Holy crap at 2 a.m. I woke up heaving up what I thought was all my internal organs and had massive amounts of diarrhea I know TMI. The good thing was the only thing that was coming up was gas so it was just horrible dry heaving. I was home alone because my husband was away and I knew I could not drive to the hospital with a bucket heaving as hard as I was. I figured I would take some compazine I had from my gallbladder surgery and I called my surgeon. He said drink water even if it comes back up because it will make the throwing up less violent and meet him at his office at 6.a.m. Well so much for the compazine because that wouldnt even stay down. My doctor met me at his office at 6a.m gave me a shot for the nausea because he is nice like that and sent me for a stat ct scan. By now I was only throwing up about every hour. My little band was fine thank God. He said at three years post op that it is probably well adhered to the stomach so it would take more than this to move it. Of course I have major swelling so he told me clear liquids for the rest of the week and through the weekend and not to try to put any food in there even if I am hungry. He gave me a shot for the nausea which thank God has gone away and told me to drink plenty of gator aid for now. He didn't think there was a need to remove the fluid, just resting the stomach would do fine he said. Well the one good thing about all this is I hate more then anything to throw up and I was thankful that nothing came up. So now ya know if you have a stomach virus the first thing to do is call your doctor to guide you. He is there for me no matter what. I dont feel embarrassed to call him and this time I needed him. I don't like going to the ER's for things like this because there are worse off people then me in there. So now if the other end stops I will be fine. Trying to eat some italian water ice slowly just to get some fluids in. So my hope is to not have a stomach virus for another 4 decades now lol.

    2 days to go.

Good luck to you all. I couldn't sleep last night. Went to bed at nine, back up at 11 for 2 hours then tried to sleep again. Finally asleep at about 3. My stomach is freaking out with all of this anxiety. Cramping, rumbling and not to mention what is coming out. Sorry, TMI. Cleaned my whole house this morning and my mom will be arriving within the hour. 2 more sleeps!

    2 days to go.

A TMI question but I don't anyone else to ask. Are either of you experiencing menstrual bleeding. I also have PCOS so I'm not sure if this is caused by the surgery it self or not. I haven't been able to take in all the Protein or Water. One shake is 30 grams protein but 20 oz of liquid. What do you have planned for protein intake ? I ordered injury protein Soup but it won't arrive until next week.
  10. I know this is totally TMI, but I'm in some serious pain here. I'm 9 days post op....and it's been 10 days since my last bm. I was advised that constipation is normal, and to be expected, but this is getting out of control. I started a few mushies yesterday and today with no trouble, so it's definitely time for some action! Unlike while I was on the pre-op diet, I do at least feel the need to go now. But it's just not happening. I'm nauseated and am getting chills. I've tried apple juice, orange juice, applesauce, and even 2 doses of Milk of Magnesia, which was only used as a last resort this afternoon b/c I was told to avoid laxatives. NOTHING is working and I am to the point where I am hurting so badly, that I can't stand or sit. Does anyone have any suggestions? Going to the store isn't an option right now (3 kiddos), but the hubs gets off work at midnight, so he can make a dash if necessary. I'm ready to try anything!
  11. so this may be a bit TMI but i have always suffered from hyperhidrosis which is basically over active sweating disorder. my main area being my feet. since surgery however,my feet are white, dry and peeling all over the bottoms. its very embarrassing. literally they feel like sandpaper. could this be a side effect of not getting enough fluids in? its not athlete's foot trust me.
  12. I had the same problem after I had the lapband, back in 2008. (I had the band removed in Dec. 2013) I don't know how you do swallowing capsules, but I swear by this stuff I was recommended to try by a nutritionist. If you search for it on Amazon, search for Aerobic Mag 07. It's basically a big dose of magnesium. I had to take 5-6 capsules at the beginning to get things moving, for about 2 days. Now I take 4 capsules each night. I have a BM every single day now. TMI warning.... It basically turns your bowels to liquid, but it's NOT diarrhea. There's no cramping, or pain. when you feel the need to go, you just go--and it's done! I usually got 2-3 times a day now. I used to go, maybe every 4-5 days and it was hard and painful. I'm scheduled for gastric bypass on Oct. 20th and I am concerned about not being able to take the capsules. But I've heard I might not need to either.
  13. So I haven’t pooped in about 9 days and I have been throwing up and getting extremely dehydrated. I have tried 3 fleet enemas and there’s nothing. Should I go to the ER for help or just wait it out? I have a really bad lower stomach pain and I can feel really thirsty but can’t keep fluids down still. My doc said do an enema a day but it’s not helping...

    05/20! 05/20!

So glad to hear it gets better!!! I had my surgery last Friday (5/31) and it has gotten a bit better each day but by no means am I feeling great. I'm able to get 10-12 sips of Protein drink in at each meal and am constantly sipping Water. I'm still having some gas pains (yes, I'm walking like there is no tomorrow) and sleeping is still a challenge. Oh, and did I mention the liquid poop that's coming out every 2ish hours (sorry TMI!!!). So glad to know that you are much better 2 weeks out. I know this is just the toughest time and that it will get better --- sooooooo ready for that. Oh, in response to your weight lost question - I'm still up 10 lbs with hardly any calories in the last week. I'm told this is from all the liquids they pumped into me in the hospital -- I just got out yesterday afternoon. Hope I'll drop back down soon. Congrats on your progress and good luck at work today.
  15. Just wondering if I could get some words of wisdom or some encouragement. I decided to reach out to my "Family of Sleevers." I started my one week of pre-op all liquid diet on Fri March 11th. My surgery is March 18th. Since Ive been on the liquid diet, which consists of soups, protein shakes, sugar free pudding/jello, water, and juice. I have felt sooo sick to my stomach. I feel so sick right now as I am writing this. Ive been curled up on my couch all day. I dont feel well enough to really drink anything else. I keep feeling like I am about to throw up (TMI-I know). I feel very nauseated. =/ I was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions as to feeling better? I will call my dr tomorrow to see if there are any other options. I dont know if my body is experiencing withdrawls or what. PLS help. Thank you!
  16. After posting that I had the same thought as you... walked in to the bathroom and let it out. (Sorry again, tmi)... I must have chewed really good, because it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be... tummy is happy again. Wheeeew. SLOW DOWN SABRINA (<-- note to self! >_< )
  17. Greetings Everyone! Hope folks have been well. I have one of those 'delicate/TMI' type of questions, and who better to ask then you fine folks. I am almost 4 months post-op, (surgery on 01/27/14). I went in at 272lbs. As of this morning, I am 203.4 lbs, (ugh, I am sooo close to 'onederland' I can taste it, haha). Anyways, I have noticed over the last month or so, that my bowel movements are changing a bit. I have been having the "long thin ribbon-like" bms. I initially thought it was simply cause my new stomach was long and thin, but reading online that doesn't make as much sense as it first did to me. Since only my stomach was changed, wouldn't my normal bm size/shape remain? The thin ribbon like thing is a sign of a blockage/colon cancer, so obviously I'm cautious now. I wanted to see if anyone else post-vsg noticed a similar change to their bms. Look forward to hearing any replys, especially if your experiences match mine. :-)

    I just wanna potty!!!

Take a stool softner, not a laxative, because a laxative will cramp you up something wicked. Drink LOTS of Water. (TMI coming in 3... 2...1...) If you can feel the feces near the exit but just can't go because you're too constipated, you may want to try a suppository or enema. Neither are pleasant options but they're not painful either. They both work pretty quickly, too. Hang in there.
  20. I got lucky, I had my first stool since Halloween surgery, but....(sorry TMI), it looked a little too dark? Not sure if I should mention it to the Nurse practitioner on Monday.

    Tmi. Runny during preop?

Yeah it's totally normal I'm afraid :0s As other poster said never trust a fart. Lol. This can also be a problem post op. I know its prob tmi but I would recommend getting some botty cream in as it can get a bit sore. Xxx

HOW BAD DOES IT REALLY HURT after surgery?

This is definitely the question I wanted answered before I was sleeved. My surgery was on Dec. 21st so I am on day 7 today and i feel great! But just yesterday, i was still feeling kinda yucky...day 7 was definitely my sweet spot! The pain was never more than a 2 on a scale from 0-10 at the hospital (good drugs!) and when i got home and i ran out of my precious vicodin , the pain went up to a 5 or 6 at times but only when i overexerted myself (which meant simple things like turning over in bed, getting up from the couch or even washing my own hair). I was also having nausea. I went for my post op appt yesterday...my doctor prescribed me some anti-nausea stuff and that has helped alot (btw, you can ask for a prescription of this before your surgery so you have it ready...it can be in a small pill form...thats what i had). today, i would say my pain is at a .5 when im just sitting and a 1 when i have to move around...i wouldnt even call it pain...maybe just soreness on a couple of the incisions and discomfort because of my constant bubbling stomach. I havent had children so I have nothing to compare this to but i thought it was going to be a million times worse than what it was. But for sure, everyone's experience is different. I was expecting crazy back and shoulder pains from the gas and got none of it. I was expecting soreness and discomfort from the drain tube but the doctor never even left one in. I have to say that my surgeon seemed exceptional in his work and came highly recommended and i think that his expertise also has contributed to a whole lot less pain and side effects. (His name is dr. ganta from austin texas....owner of AIBL if you want to google it). And in the spirit of tmi - i felt so good this morning that me and my hubby had some great sex! oh yeah - day 7 is definitely my sweet spot! Good luck on your sleeve! You'll do great!!
  23. I know this is TMI but I'm now dealing with the morning after of all that sugar and seriously, worst I've felt since surgery! Sugar is EVIL!

    What kind of pets?

We have a smooth coat border collie named Cosmo, and a tuxedo cat named Elwood. Cosmo is a little over a year old, quite the handfull, and still a jumper. He doesn't get to spend much time with the kids because he plays too hard. We are hoping to send him to training after my banding is done. Then he can get some outside help that we can't provide. Elwood is about 8 now. Elwood is what i call my "little fire kitty" because he came and alerted me when our house was burning down and I was in the shower. If it wasn't for him, I would not have gotten out. I still have the scars on my chest from him digging his claws in and hanging on. We had two dogs and nother cat at the time, and he and I were the only ones that got out. DH was at work. Elwood has since had his claws removed. LOL Now he is my fat tub of furry love that I will never lose. He made the cross country trip with us and did so well. He is loving and a snuggler. He has this weird thing that he does that when he gets really relaxed and is snuggling he drools. A lot. it is really gross, but funnier than hell. He is huge too. He stands on his hind legs and can open doors if it is a lever handle. Even if it opens towards him, he knows tograb it and walk backwards. We have to keep a lot of the doors in the house locked so that he doesn't open them all. The funniest is when he does that to someone who is in the bathroom and doesn't realize. He will just open the door up and come on in to run on your legs. Another weird thing he does. And y'all are gonna think I am nuts. But if he comes in while you are going to the bathroom, he will come in and rub on your legs, then get into your pants as they rest around your ankles. and just sit there and purr. If they are not pulled down far enough he will paw at them till you lower them. OK TMI I know but it is hilarious!!!
  25. I don't really come on the forums as much anymore, but I'd like to keep a record for both myself and those who are looking through posts to find information about surgery. So I'm trying to at least keep my blog updated once in a while. I had my 3 month appointment last month, which went well. According to my labs I am high on Vitamin D, so I'll be stopping my supplements. I am also low on my Vitamin A, which kinda surprised me because I never really considered it would be something I'd be low on, so I am going to be taking a supplement for that for a while. Aside from that I guess everything was good. I haven't actually gotten a copy of my labs yet, I'm waiting for them in the mail, so when I do get them I'll have a better idea of where I'm at. My weight loss has continued steadily. I am down 76.2 pounds now. It's hard to believe really. There are days I feel thinner and there are days that I feel like I'm still the 325 pound person in the mirror. It's trippy to fit into new clothes but not see the difference when you look in the mirror. I am solidly in size 24s and just on the verge of being able to fit into some 22s. I have not been following the diet as well as I should. I know that I have not been getting in enough protein lately, so that's something that I'm actively working on. I also have not been doing workouts, but I have been walking a lot. School has been busy, and I've been going to stay with the guy I am seeing almost every weekend, which means I am almost never home nowadays. I need to make it a priority again. I don't think I get enough in to eat in general. I have not regained any of my hunger, which is a great thing for my weight loss, but it makes me at high risk for being tempted to skip meals when I'm busy. I have been doing better the past week or two, but it's very easy to slip into the "I don't feel like eating" thought process nowadays. It's really kinda strange because I never imagined it was even physically possible for me to turn into one of those people who just didn't really care if they ate. But I don't. I have had my period for almost 4 months straight now. It started a week or two after surgery and I've had maybe one week off of it. It's not heavy like a normal period, it's on and off moderate/light, but it's annoying. My gyno thinks that it's all the hormones and the fact that my pcp told me I could use 2 nuvarings in a row without having a period. She sent me for an ultrasound to make sure there was nothing else that could be causing it and they think I might have a cyst on my right ovary that they're going to take another look at in 4-6 months when I have lost more weight, but that there wasn't anything that would increase my bleeding. I've got my fingers crossed that it will stop any day now. I think it has been one of the hardest parts of the surgery for me. It's physically and mentally taxing to be on your period 24/7. I know this is probably TMI, but I wanted to vent a little! My life has been good. Things are going pretty well with the guy that I've been seeing, which has been great. He loves to share meals with me, which I think is fantastic. School has been crazy. I am doing pretty well though, and I just can't wait for this semester to be over. I am really not cut out to be a pediatric or ob nurse. While I have had a ton of really interesting experiences this semester, I am ready to go back to adult care. I never thought I'd say it, but I kinda miss medsurg (I know I'm gonna be eating those words next semester). Anyway, overall things are great, I love my life, and I'm gonna keep working on keeping myself on track. Can I just say, VSG changed my life in a way I never thought possible. This Thanksgiving it is one of the things I am endlessly thankful for. Thank you modern medicine.
