  1. Hi jankirby. We are on a very similar path. I'm a little envious that you get your staples out this week. Enjoy the freedom! My postop appointment is 2/26 so another week of metal tummy for me. The pretend itch gave me a chuckle. Thanks! I've been scratching areas that aren't itching but are somewhat near the itches and it almost helps. LOL. I've been taking less of the effexor, but they did change my script for the 2 weeks to make it crushable. I'm not good about the flavor and grit that comes from the crushable meds so I'm backing off a bit without stopping and will increment back up when I can swallow the pills. That reminds me that I have to call them about the Actigall that's supposed to prevent the gallstones. It's important enough that I want to take it and try to, but the flavor is overwhelming and stays in my mouth long after the quick swallow I try to take of it. I'm thinking of asking how harmful it would be to skip that until the 2 week postop when I'm allowed to swallow the pills again. It's the only thing that makes my stomach want to wretch. sorry if tmi. That said I'll go through it if they say I must. I don't want any more surgeries if I can prevent them. Surgery was one week ago and now am down 7 pounds post op. So cool. I got a little concerned that I was taking in too many calories, but read a lot all over the net and decided to chill out and go with it. The calories result from the liquids I'm ingesting to get to the 60-80g Protein and 50-64oz liquids. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and not sweat the calories. The most was 700 one day, yesterday was a bit over 600. It's easy to get caught up in other folks info, and nothing wrong with learning from it, but must not compare as we're all individuals. Unless of course I was putting away so much that it would indicate a problem with the sleeve or taking in sugary things (no thanks, the RTD Proteins are sweet enough. I think the one thing keeping the calories a hair higher is that I choose 1% milk, 2% plain greek yogurt, etc. i'm deliberately not doing FF, but also not doing anything full fat. That's a personal choice. My body has historically reacted poorly to fat free living. Dry skin, foggy brain are a couple things that come to mind. That said, the choices I'm making fall within the dietary guidelines prescribed by my bariatric program so it's all good. Wishing a good, comfortable day to all! Time to go crush that yummy pill into the last sip of Protein Drink. Mmmmmm.
  2. I'm glad I found this thread. My foamies just began last week. It definitely seems to come from eating too much/too fast. I am 3 months out, and eating too much affects me more now than at 8 weeks. I have to be really careful and slow with solid Protein. Yesterday I ate too much twice! I was so annoyed with myself. TMI WARNING: I had to make myself throw up to get rid of some pressure. It was not pleasant. I hope I learn soon.

@@CowgirlJane - before purchasing a membership, poke around and see how many active users you have in your area. I was surprised how few there were in OKC. Now if I lived in Dallas, I would have been fine. You see with eHarmony they are only going to match you with people who they think you are emotionally compatible with based on the personality test, so count on maybe 20% even being possible matches. Further note about eHarmony, before you take the test get yourself in a really good mood, or don't be in a needy or bad mood when you do it. I'm not saying that you can "game" the system, but I do know that when I was applying for a job in sales, they wanted me to do a personality inventory, and I got myself in a "Zig Ziggler frame of mind." I did so well on the test they hired me in 10 minutes. I didn't think about that this when I tried eHarmony and noticed they people I were meeting were not great matches based on my long term goals, but dang there was a great deal of sex. (I know TMI, but it was bizarre that it was happening on every date, which is really what I'm not looking for long term).
  4. I don't know what the back pain would be. Other than referred pain from your tummy or gas that you don't even know you have. I stil have pain in the larger incision. They said that would hyrt the longest because it's where they pull the stomach through. (TMI truly) But I'm glad they told me. Now I need to get walking more.
  5. OK, I am 9months post op, never an issue at all since being sleeved, I just HATE eating. It isn't enjoyable at all. In fact, it actually feels more like work now than anything. I eat slow, take small bites, watch what I eat. It just feels gross when I eat, and I can still feel my sleeve moving when digesting (tmi, sorry). Milk tears my stomach up now, but I can still have cheese and yogurt. Ya see, the issue is, I know I HAVE to eat, for health and nutrition, but I simply don't want to. My husband even mentioned that eating with me is depressing. He said I just look sad! Anyone else feel like this?

    January 14th

Hello, everyone! I also had my surgery on Monday the 14th. I was released from the hospital Tues afternoon and I'm feeling pretty good. Is everyone on a sugarfree clear liquid diet? The program I am in lets us have one bottle isopure zero card rtd protien supplement a day. I've been drinking a lot of fluids and haven't had much pain or any vomiting. I have had diarrhea since Weds so I have to go to the lab and give them a stool sample tomorrow. Sorry if TMI.

    Puking: Post-Op vs. Pre-Op

I had a dumping episode in my car once when I FOOLISHLY bought a Mocha and an apple (and a small can of Pringles, hands up, I'll confess) in a moment of weakness, which led to sliming and throwing up mouthfuls of chewed apple and Pringles. Soz TMI. I hadn't eaten lunch, I was on my way to give a lecture so I knew I wouldn't be home for ages and so in a moment of crazy weakness I stopped at the servo. I bought an apple (pre-surgery it would have been chocolate) and thought 'how bad can a Mocha be? It's basically coffee with a little bit of chocolate'). How wrong I was! I ate the apple and, I'm ashamed to say, the Pringles and they were fine. Then I started drinking the Mocha. Made it all the way through and then started to feel AWFUL. I was in a car on a motorway and couldn't stop w/o being late for my lecture. So the sliming (gross saliva) started and I was throwing it up into the Mocha cup, one hand on the wheel. Luckily it was in small quantities but I reckon I filled half of the Mocha Cup. But I was very quiet and discreet in the car so, its not like regular vomiting. I have never done this before and I will NEVER do it again. No more Pringles and mochas for this girl. Sometimes ya gotta learn the hard way. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I am a newbie, and am very embarrassed about this, but occasionally, when I sneeze real hard or after the 4th or 5th sneeze in a row, or laugh a real hard gut laugh, i may (not always) experience urinary incontinence (TMI, I know:( can anyone tell me, if after weight loss, does this get better? or not effect it at all?

    June exercise challenge

i use to say that the only way i would run, was if someone was chasing - that's back in my vocabulary. i NEVER got the rush others have written about (sorry tmi ceradad)....my double d's no matter how strapped down w/my enell bra always were tender, never got my breathing right, and my toe nails constantly cracked - so it's off the cadio menu. today - surprise - spin class, 20 min walk on treadmill
  10. Hi all... first I want to just thank all of you August All Stars for your input and support, you guys are great! I have to admit to being just a wee bit discouraged today. My whole post op recovery so far has been more difficult than I thought it would be. I had a lot of pain the first night, and then when I got home I got dehydrated... I think it was because I got behind in my drinking but also because I got nauseated from the Roxicet. Of course the dehydration just made my nausea worse and gave me a headache. Also, (sorry for TMI) both my bladder and bowel muscles seem to have forgotten how to work for awhile after the surgery. However, now all of those symptoms are gone except: I still get these weird pains (even if I haven't had anything to drink) that feel like something is getting stuck... they always go away in about 15 seconds or so, but I don't like them and I worry that they will be around forever! I know they will probably go away soon. In any case, I still don't have any regrets and I suspect that I will even look back on this post and laugh some day! Have a great weekend all!
  11. Hey guys.. thought I would update on what I've been eating as Iam so full of energy, I don't get hungry and have been out and about. So I changed what I previously said about my intake. Let me start by saying I'm on clear liquid diet for 2 weeks.. on tuesday I will start my last week. I now have only water, chicken broth, beef broth, vegetable broth.. a little jello here and there to change it up and now the most important a drink called cocotein for my protein intake. Cocotein is a clear liquid , whey protein and your body absorbs 100% of the protein and I use this to make up for the low calorie intake I'm on now. I stopped doing apple juice, cranberry juice and grape juice because I noticed it would give me a little heartburn slightly and sometimes and also the runs sorry tmi but it's for information purposes. With the cocotein i feel soo good and not deprived. I dont take any pain meds, i havent vomited thank god, I've passed gas tmi, but overall great. And i also try not to drink anything cold cold straight from the fridge, i let my drink chill a little first because if I dont I might feel it going down my esophagus slowly and that's uncomfortable, but I know that will change later on.

    Contstipation?

I have a question....Why is a daily BM not the norm for Bandsters?? This may be TMI, but I go pretty much every day. Should I be concerned?
  13. OK ladies. someone has got to help me.. i know i posted a forum before about my eh hem... labido.. being kicked into over drive.. but I feel like im a walking horn ball!!!! I almost think i need to take something to keep me from being so freaking horny! k... now im sorry but this might get a little um. R rated so be forewarned. My man and I got busy this morning.. and when we were done... we got busy again.. and when we were done.. lol.. i still needed him to do a little extra with his mouth cuz i just wasn't finished yet..lol...OMG i can't believe im even writing this.. but ok.. so the past 3 days... its been like bunny rabbits and im still having to sometimes take matters into my own hands, if you know what i mean, when he isn't around to help me!!!! Now used to think that addicts were for drugs and alcohol, but u know how people say they traded one habit for another with VSG... i think i traded food for sex.. which on any normal circumstance i would not be complaining about..by any means!!! but WHAT THE FREAKING HELL!!! im basically having to bring an extra pair of panties with me where ever i go cuz if see a hot guy...im like AND..... waterworks!!! lolololol.. Someone tell me what to do please?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
  14. Welcome to you both! I thought about the surgery for several years before I committed to it. I was scared too. I am so glad I did though! I feel so much better now. My back hurt all the time and my feet too. I was even having trouble wiping myself because it twisted my back (sorry if that is TMI but it was becoming a real problem for me). I knew then that it was affecting my quality of life! I did not want to live like this anymore. It was the best decision I have ever made and there is no way I would have ever made it this far without the sleeve! Love my sleeve!
  15. so this may be a bit TMI but i have always suffered from hyperhidrosis which is basically over active sweating disorder. my main area being my feet. since surgery however,my feet are white, dry and peeling all over the bottoms. its very embarrassing. literally they feel like sandpaper. could this be a side effect of not getting enough fluids in? its not athlete's foot trust me.
  16. It was like I was touched for the very first time !!!! Lol TMI how much calories did I burn?

Finally have restriction...but is it too much?

That we have different opinions, different ideas, but I love this support group because we always express these different ideas in such a respectful manner. That being said. I didn't have a preop diet, and because of that I always forget that people who lost 75 lbs might not have lost it since Feb. and I think. Damn it, whats wrong with MY band. But at the same time, Good for them to be able to lose ANYTHING without being banded. Jaime, Crystal, and all my other VV you are doing amazing. I might be a slower loser, but that gives me the oppurtunity to be inspired by all of you. Thank you so much for continuing to come and post, to speak. I love you guys. I gotta stop typing. I want to cry. I must be about to start my peroid. TMI? I don't care.

    Painful GAS pain!!

And that is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!! OMG!! The gas is SO FRIGGEN HORRIBLE!!! At least it was for me! I was miseralbe from the time I woke up (MONDAY EVENING 5/9) until yesterday!! Nothing really helps!! They say walking does, but it didn't. Gas-X doesn't, bean-o doesn't. NOTHING!! Only time. I seriously hurt so bad that I could not take a deep breath. I felt as if it was under my ribs and I kept getting hiccups and was about to cry. It was the worst ever!! THat was really the only side effect I had tho, so I can't complain too much! I didn't get the nausea and vomiting that other's do. I couldn't even stand up straight because it hurt so bad. I did get diahreah last night which I think helped break it up. I tooted loud and hard this morning (TMI I KNOW) and felt like I lost 20 lbs!! It was such a relief!! I still have some sharp pains in the front, but nothing like I did. I feel 300 times better! It does only last about 3 days tho, if that makes you feel better!! I begged my Dr. for something and he told me to walk and there wasn't anything to help me! So, Best of luck to you. It does suck and nothing to prevent it! Kelly
  19. My dr. had me take a colon cleaner before surgery so nothing would be in my bowel, so not having to go for a long while after surgery is normal. Also, if you've spent a long time after surgery on liquids, it'll be a while before you go. I know that my dr. told me to remember that I would be eating smaller amounts, therefore BM's would not come as frequently as prior to surgery. Now that said, I have found that the papaya juice I drink for times I get stuck has had a wonderful effect on the bowel issue. Also, I love split pea Soup, so that too has been a good thing. I tend to avoid the pill form of taking care of constipation if possible. Usually Water and a really fibrous meal help me out. Sorry for the TMI answer, but it was a TMI question...lol. Annette

WHAT TO TAKE FOR THE FLU

So I went from feverish to okay in 2 days, but now it's a stomach thing. TMI: I've been constipated since post op day 1. I've gone more times now(yesterday) than I have in the past 2 weeks. And I'm nauseous. But I'm not eating. What the hell is this?

    April/May 2018 Sleevers!!?

I got my surgery, sleeved on 4/25/18. Also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time. My Dr, said I came thru everything w/flying colors. The surgery itself took two and a half hours, I was then in recovery for about an hour, then taken on up to my room from there. I had terrible pain the first day, but learned that most of it was gas. They gave me Percocet for the pain, and I was nauseous so they gave me Zofran. I did not wake up with a drain tube or any pain pumps hooked up to my stomach. I didn’t have a catheter either thank goodness. Just my IV that they had put in my left hand before surgery started. I hadn’t been in my room(which was a beautiful large private room, with a nice view of the park below)) for even five minutes, when the nurses came in and started introducing themselves, and told me it’s time to get up out of the bed, go to the restroom, pee in a little plastic urine catcher that was in the toilet,(it looked like a little plastic white hat/ with numbers on it) so they could measure my output of urine, and then when I got thru in the restroom, it was time to take a walk! I was slower than molasses on the walking, I was so very sore and still not at myself. My husband walked with me and I pushed my IV cart around and we walked about 30 steps before I gave out. We went back into my room, and there was a nurse there to take my vitals, and afterwards she helped me to set up in a chair. I really wanted to just get to lay back down again, but realized soon enough that my nurse was right, sitting up, along w/ the walking would help relieve some of the gas pains. I know, this is probably TMI, but the more you can fart or burp, the better you’ll feel after surgery. Relieve yourself of as much of that gas that u possibly can. I sat in the chair for almost 2 hours and then they let me get back in the bed and gave me a heated blanket because I was freezing cold! Then... came the food tray... Oh geesh I thought! What the heck is this, and all these little miniature cups too?!The cups had a mark on them that said 30mL. They told me to pour my food into these little plastic cups, and to start sipping very slowly. The food was all liquids, broth, jello, tea, watered down apple juice, bottled water. and decaf black coffee. All of the warm liquids I tried made me horribly sick, but the cold ones I could tolerate. They wanted me to finish off 1 little cup every 15 minutes during every hour of being awake. And let me tell you, I couldn’t. I tried so hard to, but you feel as full as a tick and don’t even wanna look at any kind of food, at least I didn’t anyways. It took a lot of doing, but I managed to get down 8 if those little cup fulls of liquids, before bedtime, which I fell asleep about midnight, and seriously thought my stomach was going to explode. Fast forward to morning:: All of my nurses really have been super kind during the entire stay. I didn’t get too much sleep that night, and my husband didn’t either because of all the hospital sounds, machines beeping etc. So hubby got me up and started walking me up n down the halls. I felt like quitting but he was cheering me on the whole way. [emoji173]️ on our walks, we visited the nurses station, and they gave me a popsicle and a cup of ice. Wow what a treat! I couldnt wait to get back to my room to try them. Back inside my room, there is a nurse waiting there for me to give me a shot into my stomach to help prevent blood clots. It stung pretty bad, but didn’t hurt as much as the gas pains. I continued to walk with my hubby periodically, and get my liquids down me. The ice chips were wonderful, and the popsicle was good too, but it was hard to take bites off of it, so my husband got it off the stick, and crushed it up for me in a little cup and I ate it slowly with a spoon. Heavens! [emoji173]️ That was wonderful! Oh, and while you get to lay down in your bed, you most likely will have these little grayish blue velcro wrap around things on your legs that gently squeeze them every so often to further prevent blood clots too. These felt really good and relaxing to me. Fast forward even more, I am now home. I got to come home about 2:00 pm, one day after my surgery. I am still having a lot of gas pains, but am taking gas x to help with that. I’m still up walking at least every 2-3 hours, for about 5 minutes at a time now —snail pace but active. My dr. sent me home with zofran, to take one dissolving pill twice a day, and also sent me home with a script for Percocet with 0 refills on either med. I go back to see him in 2 weeks for a checkup and weigh in. I’m gonna get off of here for awhile and try to rest for a bit. I hope this has helped anyone who hasn’t had their surgery yet, I know it’s a really long post. I will update later on today. [emoji171]

    Scared to have surgery!

I am doing really well honestly. The worst part for me? I have had the poops (sorry TMI). I don't really have a want to eat (probably because more of the bathroom issues lol). I didn't have pain but some mild discomfort. I feel so good - I am 6 days post op. I have to force myself to drink but that is OK. My back is hurting a lot less, the swelling in my legs have gone down tremendously, I am sleeping better - overall I feel great! I do like a mid afternoon cat nap this past week 😊😊😊😊

    Constipation

I have an issue with constipation. I take 2 colace in the morning and 1 at night and after talking to my team about it last week I've added fiber gummies with some success. I was going 1-2 weeks with no bm and then pooping what felt like solid boulders(I know TMI!!!) Pushing to the point of almost passing out. I eat food, healthier food but food. Definitely no longer on the liquid stage. Thing should be at least every other day. Hoping the new gummies will help. Sent from my SM-F926U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Closet Bandster's pt. 2

I have told all that will listen other than my own father. Gosh that sounds bad. But its true, my mom let it slip once but he has never asked me about it or brought it up so when he wants to know i guess he will ask. As far as what you can say I am scheduled to have my Gall bladder out lap. The insicions are the same as the bands except the is one less. (only 3) It also has the same recovery time and hospital stay. 4-6 hrs. So if you are cofortable with that tell your kids as far as anyone else just say a "rutine procedure" Not a lie and not TMI lol good luck...

I'll be wishing him good luck Shiny. You guys deserve all the best. I admire your willpower to resist the scale. I can't, gotta see it go down even when I know it will come right back up. Anyone else watch "You Are What You Eat"? After a good "poo", it's straight to the scale. LMAO - I know TMI, sorry.
