Your cheery NSV came at a good time, I was having a PLOM morming, counting up my ready cash, if I pay the majority of bills and utilities, I'll need to call my landlord and tell him I can't pay my rent in one lump, I'll have to space it out. Rough when you can't pay perfectly for shelter and yet can't afford to move. Not between. a rock, and a hard place quite yet,but feel like I'm slipping into the crack quickly. Don't have someone from the older generation to talk to about it, when I had my back turned, I suddenly became the older generation. So hearing of the sweet small victories you're having somehow encourages me to stay the course. Just enough milk for 1 bowl of cereal so I'll let my son have that and I ate a bowl of leftover soup. I'll go to the supermarket and stock,up on what I'm low on.And maybe the PLOM cloud will dissipate. PS PLOM stands for Poor Little Old Me, guess even I get those kind of blues. 😭
  2. I had a really odd NSV that ended up being a bit expensive lol. I’m only 4 weeks post op, but I was forced into a corporate meeting where I was going to have a wear a suit. I was PISSED. I have smaller and larger sized suits, but I was between the sizes I currently owned. Wasn’t about to invest in another suit. I managed to find something halfway decent at Kohls, and I was able to fit into a X-Large or Large off the rack. (the large size was generous and stretch, of course). Then I freaked out because all of the dress shoes I have are too narrow and small. I went to DSW and they were having a boot sale. Well, I went wild. I was so happy to be able to fit into tall REGULAR calf sized boots that I bought, ahem, SEVERAL pairs. 💰💵💸🤑. I couldn’t find pumps that fit, so I resurrected a pair of old pumps I had for the suit 🤣. My husband was confused because I went to buy dress shoes and walked out with two HUGE bags of boots. Lol. Good thing he loves me. Pic of me with a Christmas dress I’m planning to wear, and red knee high boots!
  3. You guys! I just realized a NSV that I have to share!!! This is something that I've been wanting to achieve - forever (not forever, but for a little over 7 years)... The keyboard tray on my desk is at the same height as the arms of my chair. For as long as I've had this chair/desk combo (a little over 7 years), my tummy has stuck out farther than the arms of my chair. I could squish my keyboard tray in and touch the arms of my chair, but my tummy would be touching the tray. Today - I noticed that my tummy isn't touching the keyboard tray, but the tray is up against the arms of my chair!!!! There's only about 1/4-inch of space, but it's there!
  4. I CANNOT believe that I stand here in a size 10 jeans, I’m not sure I EVER even THOUGHT I would wear that size jeans! Talk about a NSV!! ( down from a 24/26 Jean)
  5. My surgery was in July, but My favorite NSV so far is: Went to universal and fit on every ride easily. Last time I went I couldn’t do two of the rides!

Last week and I went and bought new jeans as the ones I bought last fall (32”) are just too baggy. I bought and fit into 29”. I can’t believe my waist is now smaller than my 32” inseam. Awesome NSV for me as the scale is pretty stagnate. Then I was sharing this story with one of my close friends (who affectionally calls her self a skinny bitch) and she tell me she has pants in that size too. I literally stopped walking and just gave her this look of WTF and commented “I just have no idea how to process that”. Seriously a year ago I was two weeks post op and today life is completely different.
  7. Yes!!! That towel NSV nearly made me cry when it happened. I still tear-up when I say that I'm no longer diabetic.

Well, I made it to support group and weigh in today. I knew it wouldn't be that great since I have been stuck for a while, but I at least lost 7.5 (yes the .5 matters) since last month. It is feeling very slow when I compare to some of you, so I will not compare! I also know I am slowly getting closer to the last part of this - today when they asked how far away from goal we were. I had to think about it, but it was really strange to say 35 pounds. I was also getting closer to making an appointment for a fill. Yes, I might actually get over those fears yet. But then people started talking about how often they get stuck, PB, slime - mind you happily talk about it - and I decided I could wait a bit longer. Sometimes I do worry if a few people have traded one eating issue for another... When I walked in the meeting, I was feeling so good in my new, well-fitting clothes. Then a women who was at the meeting just to gather information asked me if I had had the lap band surgery yet. I think that is what they call a Non-NSV...

Y'know, looking at people's tickers here, I have to say that I'm really impressed - you guys have done a FANTASTIC job! I started from a much higher weight than you, and lost quickly at first, then backslid, but you guys have just held steady, losing the weight. You've done amazingly well - but I'm sure you know that. I want to hear more NSV stories! Why the heck isn't that item hopping, women???

Well since I'm on a roll, I'd like to share an NSV. I was so excited. Sunday a friend and I went to the outlets. I decided to buy two pairs of Size 12 jeans at Eddie Bauer to look forward to (I'm doing the 14 now). Well, for the heck of it, I tried them on later that night when I got home to see how bad they'd be, how far I could pull them up, etc. I CAN WEAR THEM. Oh ya, the muffin top is there but I was so excited. If I feel the urge to wear them, I can wear a loose top! It's funny though. It's taking longer to go down in top sizes. You would think the weight loss would be distributed. I don't think I look lopsided, but maybe so.

Great NSV at Cedar Point, Special K! You're strong, and you can beat the eating from boredom thing while unemployed. Maybe dance around the house when that feeling comes over you? I know it's tough... just keep making good choices when you're eating. Christine, I heard something interesting while at a consultation with another surgeon the other day. He and another doctor were discussing what sounded remarkably similar to your delayed gastric empyting thing, and one of the solutions they were looking at was first to try dilating the pylorus (the muscly opening at the bottom of the stomach, I think), and if that helped the patient, then Botox (!) that muscle to help keep the pylorus open and make the transiting of the food out of the stomach and down to the intestine easier. Does that make any sense in the context of your issues? Clearly I'm no doctor, but I immediately thought of you when I heard it. Maybe you can ask your doctor about the idea? Fenton, I loved your "blowout" dinner -- yum! But I'm really amazed how you just drop weight!

Why can I not say "NO" to sweets. I teach pre-k part time................Valentine's parties galore today. This is so rediculous! You would think I could say "NO" by now. MelissaO- Congrats on the LB NSV. I think I will still be there until after my TT. I will thank the kids for that one! (like it's their fault) HA!

Oh, I had a good NSV today! I discovered that my belt, straining to cinch me in 2 and half months ago, needed to be tightened another notch! And, when I went to tighten it, I discovered that I've used up all the holes! It is dead to me now! My lapband killed my belt!

Hi All! long time no post... Fenton - CONGRATULATIONTS!!!! I am so happy for you to hit your century mark!!!! Harley - 70% to goal... I am so envious:) I have been reading, trying to keep up with all of the postings... lots to Celebrate NSV's all over the place. Kudos to all!!!! I have had some life changes going on the past few weeks...back to school part time while working full time has been quite an adjustment itself!!!! Then, just to complicate things... my MIL had another health crisis she went unresponsive while on dialysis, ended up low HR and low BP and deteriorated enough to need the assistance of a ventilator and transferred to a large heart center. Ended up with a pacemaker and fortunately was able to be weaned off of the vent. This left her weaker than ever and is currently in an acute rehab unit at my hospital. Nothing brings out the FUN in family dysFUNction... like a crisis. I was so not eating right the last week and not going to the gym... just couldn't find enough time. But, this is a new week and I am determined to get on track...went to the gym last night and I need get back into the groove and make better choices. I haven't gained anything this week, but also haven't lost. I have had a few PB episodes from not chewing well and eating too fast, so I need to get that under control too. Thanks for listening!!!

Hi everyone! Christine - I am sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have a good handle on things. It sure is a lot! Harley - I thought your dress was beautiful. I bet you looked great! I have a picture of a dress I want to wear on my bedroom door. I look at it daily. Mostly, it is inspiration! SpecialK - Way cool about the NSV. I love it when stuff like that happens!!!! Tess - lol, my birthday is April 15th. We are birthday mates! Well, I went to the party and had a fabulous time. I took a nibble of some rum cake. (holy cow was that stuff potent) and took a tiny bite of carmel apple cake. (yummy!) and drank 1/2 glass of wine. The rest was all good stuff. I felt wonderful. I actually didn't want any more of the cakes or booze! I had a little, enjoyed myself a lot and danced the night away. I can't think of a better way to enjoy the party. Last year, I enjoyed it, but felt so huge and like my skin was too tight. This year was so very much better!!! Another good thing was that the scale didn't go in the wrong direction. I am a little nervous about the 22nd. It is my official baking day. I bake tons of Cookies and make this stuff called "white trash". The white trash is sooooooo good. Most of the stuff will be out of my house by the next day, so that is good. I just have to maintain my willpower for one day! It is very sad that cookies can just slide right through the band! But, I anticipate that I will eat only one cookie. I'll allow myself one and then put all the goodie bags in my car. (hopefully, it will be as cold as it is today and no way will I go out there! lol) Have a great day fellow bandsters!

Well, It wont be a NSV for me until they actually fit but it made me feel good anyway. A really thin girl at work had a baby about a year ago and said she had some clothes she wore after the baby that she had bought at GAP or somewhere, she asked what size I was in now and I told her 18's and some 16's. She brought me these clothes which are 12's and 14's!! I am not even able to squeeze into them I am sure but it made me feel so good that someone else thinks I will be able to soon. My scale still hasnt moved in a while and my trainer is kicking my rear at the gym so I know with the muscle weight will start coming off too. Way to go on all the NSV's!

NSV - Yes the dropping clothing size is a big boost as they go down. I was told the other day to start buying more fitting clothes/tops, I still tend to buy looser fitting things: A mental block on having something cling to me!! I have bought a few new things this week and they are flattering, if I do say so myself :tt1: WTG for everyone in thier successes. Let us all keep up the good work over the holiday season

Thanks, A - I like how I wrote the city, too. (Patting self on back...) In Naples, I'm staying with friends - the county's Chief Medical Examiner is my BFF since we trained together in Miami, and her husband is an ex-cop and a gun nut, so they're perfect contacts for S. Florida murder and mayhem-type stuff. But they're not real restaurant people, so I've managed to avoid that world. Although, in fact, paying too much money for tiny perfect plates would probably be better for me than paying very little for the massive quantities of food that is the custom at most chain restaurants. One NSV: when I look at my photo on the hardcover of PRECIOUS BLOOD, I can recognize how much weight I have lost.

Wom, Mim, great loss for the week! I know the fill has been a little challenging, but it sure is great the see the results! lisalee, I know what you mean about NSVs. They are really much more important than a number on the scale. Just knowing that I'm making progress has taken a load off my shoulders. I think I was in a low-level depression for many months (years?), and I've pulled out of that. I don't know if it's the weight loss, the fact that I'm getting better nutrition, or a combination of both, but it seems like my mind is clearer, colors brighter, and it seems a little easier to face problems and stop procrastinating. Mom, I'm down 2 more pounds this week. Good luck to all of you for a great week! Tami

Meredith...I posted a pic in my gallery yesterday. JDI130...I've hit a plateau...well...more like a yo-yo. I can't seem to get lower than 215 and then I'll bounce back up to 217. Its back and forth, back and forth. I'm trying to mix up my menu and my exercise but nothing seems to be working yet. However, I do have the NSV of the unexpected size 18 jeans! Still moving forward! Going to the 2nd Harvest Food Bank (Nashville) to sort and fill boxes of food for families that need them. Have a great day everyone!
