My thoughts, even with weight fluctuations, I see you as tiny in the OOTD photos. You are maintaining and itβs reasonable to enjoy the occasional indulgences. Is it weight gain? bloating/water retention? Insulin response? body image or TMI constipation? I have no idea. Iβm older, I will never look like @ms.sss. I'll never have six pack abs. *laughing* You asked "Question for you...had you started weight loss shenanigans with food/sugar and booze at 137lbs?" The example in the photos is body composition. The link below will explain. https://8fit.com/fitness/weight-loss-vs-fat-loss/

February 2019 weight loss buds
Everything replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi November! Welcome to the convo! Goody - Thanks for the advice. I shouldβve checked this earlier to see if you responded because he got the braces this morning! But at least itβs done. Weβll just figure out the details as we go. They were only paying for $1500 of it anyway. He had to have some oral surgery in the hospital etc. etc. etc. so really in the long run $1500 isnβt the worst. Sheri you are looking lovely as always. My mom would have loved your shirt. She was a huge OU fan. My husband a huge Texas fan so that was always a fun conversation. My mom was from Okmulgee Oklahoma. Ever heard of it? Congrats Pattianne! 2B - youβll have to define βbad daysβ for me. I still puke now and then and sometimes I even still spit out that last bite of food. I get a little ahead of myself rushing. OK last thing and this is super personal but has to do with weight loss surgery so Iβm sharing. For the last four weeks I have been battling symptoms of a urinary tract infection. I have been on antibiotics and they have sent my samples to the lab twice. I get the new results later today. The last time I gave a sample they said I was extremely dehydrated. So I have been chugging water which seems to have really helped all the problems I was having. Just something to think about because we focus so much on food. I was literally only using the bathroom twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. So I am actively forcing fluids now. Hopefully that will resolve the issue once and for all... (Hope you enjoyed that bit of TMI!) My hair loss has finally stopped! It was weird itβs sort of just all fell out at once and then stopped immediately. So I got my hair highlighted and I feel pretty now. I have been trying to increase my calories and stop the weight loss. I gained a pound in the last couple of days and thatβs exciting. Between the dehydration and the (almost) scary weight loss- it was a little concerning. Iβm starting to feel better now though. Nice checking in on everyone! Hope everyone is well. -
I think everyone is different but for me i was able to go (TMI but it was like water) wishing 4days out of the hospital. And real solid #2 once I was advanced to soft/solids stage 3 but just this weekend I suffered from constipation to where I cried (yup it was that bad). Today marks exactly 4 weeks Post Op :)

My Plastic Surgery Thread
Stella S replied to sillykitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
TMI Alert. Before my LBL there was too much excess skin for easy intercourse. Something folded or bunched or just got in the way. It was better after LBL The inner thigh work though returned intimacy to the magical level. -
Hi all. Iβm due to have my period right smack in the middle of my scheduled surgery. I know, tmi, however I ree-he-heely donβt want them to reschedule me. Is this something that would stop the procedure from going on as planned or is it a non issue? Anyone else have Aunt Flo during surgery?

Sorry if this is TMI but did anyone else have diarrhea trying to increase calories? I am not sure if it's the general increase in fat or carbs. I thought I had a handle in trying to stay at this weight or maybe lose 5 pounds over a few months. It was working but now I am back to losing 2 pounds in 5 days. I am 5' 2.5 and now 129. I know I can still lose more and be ok however I have a lot of muscle and excess skin from prior weight gains and loses. I feel like I am getting too skinny. My face looks tired and gaunt, my wrists are so bony. Here's what I eat and I am trying to increase calories but heavy meats fill me up for hours. I have to graze all day to get this in: meals: premier shake and 5 oz of milk (1-2%) 1 egg with 1c sautΓ© spinach using olive oil, 1-2T cheese 4oz. premade chicken salad (130 cal with 3.5f, 13g protein) 1.5 oz ground beef with 1/4 c veggies (green beans or broccoli) 1-2T cheese snacks: 1T peanut butter 1 cup of milk 1/2 c berries (divided up all day long) 1-2 servings (5 oz cups) of low sugar yogurt sometimes the one with nut butter mixed in 1/4 c pumpkin seeds or walnuts lentil crackers, nut thins crackers, or 1 sheet of graham cracker harvest snaps green pea crisps --- it all averages to 25% carbs (80g), 33% protein (97g), 40% fat (44g) for an avg. of 1100 calories I know some of the processed snacks are not the best but I am trying to increase calories and carbs without the volume. I have a hard time getting in water since I always feel like I am eating but I figure the milk and yogurt as snacks helps somewhat with fluids. Any suggestions?

constipation Help please! Which soft phase foods are best for constipation?
CrowLuv posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had gastric bypass last month and I've been doing really well recovery wise. Warning - there is some TMI in this post, but I really need help... Background info: My BMs since surgery have been regular but...flaky? Not liquid diarrhea, but just - kinda powdery. Didn't think much of it since I figured well, I've been eating so much less and, blah blah. But then, the past couple of days I could "feel" the constipation was oncoming (I've had it my whole life, I know the feeling). I took some stool softeners, no bueno. Fast forward to last night - I was on the toilet all night off and on, crying out in pain, almost passing out and nauseated and feeling like I was gonna puke. I could "feel" this rock hard huge BM was right there at the edge, and even having to urinate was hell bc it would put pressure on it and I could feel it trying to come out but, it was NOT gonna come out. By 4am, I was close to having husband take me to urgent care bc I knew it was "impacted" in there. I tried a couple of enemas, as hellish as that was - absolutely no help. Finally later this morning I managed to pass the monster-brick-hard BM (TMI - this involved my awkward digital breakup attempts, also hell) that has probably been in there this whole time I thought the "flaky" BM's were "normal." π¨ And I felt relief, but then next time I tried to go to the bathroom, a couple of hours ago, I can tell there's more, and it hurts. π° Oh and I did call the doctor (first thing this morning) and he said to take Milk of Magnesia and drink lots of water. Done. But research on this wonderful site has given me all other kinds of good advice regarding routines and products, etc. etc. - . I will be using it. Where I need guidance/advice: So, I'm in the "soft/mushy" foods phase of the post-op regimen. I've been continuing with at least 1 Premier Protein shake a day, sometimes two - to help get in enough protein (it's so hard to reach my daily goal!). Then for dinner I've been having one of the following: Mushed up lowfat cottage cheese - OR - hard boiled egg blended up in my mini-blender with a tiny dollop of lite mayo and mustard - OR - also using my mini-blender, ground up moistened chicken breast with a tiny bit of lite mayo and celery salt (my version of "chicken salad" lol) - OR - watered down and mushed up refried beans with a bit of green salsa. I'm also meeting/ exceeding my 64oz fluid requirement daily (mostly water, some herbal teas) - and in fact usually surpass that. Are there any soft foods phase "meals" y'all can recommend that can - along with the other stuff like MOM, Colace, etc. - help prevent constipation or at least not actively contribute to it? Are my foods listed above not "ideal"? I'm going by doctor's list of recommendations - but admittedly only sticking to a very few of the choices. I try to keep things simple basically. I've had constipation issues my whole life, even as a young child - and nothing is more terrifying to me honestly - I even had to have a hemorrhoidectomy last year it got so bad - and if this crap continues (ha ha, get it) I know I'll be headed down that road again, which is a nightmare I never wish to repeat. π© ANY advice on what other soft foods that could help with avoiding constipation I should start including in my diet would be really helpful, thanks so much in advance! -
Im too shy to talk to anyone about this. I have not had my period for over a year now and today I was surprised it came back. I heard that having Bariatric surgery sometimes helps women get it. Does anyone know why? This may be TMI and if so sorry!! Today was just horrible day, I didnβt drink not even half of the water Iβm suppose to and i know itβs a must. So I didnβt have to use the restroom till tonight (thatβs how little I drank today, I know thatβs bad). Who knows when I started because not even an hour ago (itβs 8:44 as Iβm typing this) I had to use the restroom and thatβs when I noticed. Thank Goodness I didnβt leak through my jeans at work. Because I havenβt had it in so long I couldnβt pin point why 1. I was craving sweets (had a SF popsicle to help with that since Iβm a little over 2 weeks post op from VSG) 2. I was moody/emotional and lazy 3. Just uncomfortable

Iβm on the Dartmouth diet to prep for surgery per order of my surgeon. The basic break down is cream of wheat, soup, protein shakes and jello/pudding. Iβm on day four now and Iβm just getting progressively more sick. TMI- but nauseous, gagging when eating, diarrhea, exhausted and cloudy. Iβm not sure what I should do? My surgery is Thursday 8/29/19 so I have 3 more full days of this left. Iβm open to experiences and suggestions.

Pain on left side, sometimes under my ribs
beautifuldaymonster replied to lspringman's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hope this message isn't too late to be helpful, but I had those. It turned out to be a serious kidney and bladder infection. I had to really push all of my doctors and visit the ER three times to find out. The cause of the infection was gross and TMI: I'm overjoyed with my surgery results, but I have to be truthful and admit ultimately the gastric bypass surgery was behind the infection. As you know GBS requires you to eat in a way that makes you vulnerable to constipation. As a result I became very constipated. My stools became dense, hard, round, grayish and heavy like large smooth stones, around jawbreaker size. When these plopped down into the toilet bowl, toilet water containing stool and thus BACTERIA splashed upwards into my underparts. Over time, despite proper hygiene, this created a bad UTI. Moving to a new apartment with a taller toilet bowl helped, as did liquid Keflex, increased water drinking and cranberry juice. But the infection announced itself with sharp, stabbing bedtime pain worse than shingles, under my left ribcage. Later the pain traveled down my back and spine, then to my right side, then back again. It was a very stubborn infection. If you still are experiencing this pain, check for a UTI and kidney infection and make sure that isn't what it is! This was my experience and it started with pain identical in type, severity and location to yours. -
New food intolerances after revision?
Shells_Almost_There replied to GingerSlim's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I find that I can't have the protein bars or shakes that I relied on before and after VSG. Now, they are too sweet and (sorry, TMI) I almost immediately get the shakes (dumping) and will probably have to run to the bathroom. And really, that's what's changed the most after my revision to RNY - I haven't had more than maybe 5 normal BMs in 19 months. -
*Bursts In* Am I Late? No, cool π I've noticed that whenever I ate a lot of watermelon, as opposed to other fruit, I lost more weight. Maybe its all the water and fiber for relatively low calories or that it also kept me very regular (also TMI) I didn't start eating it until maybe 6 months post op. Ask your Team about it.
-
Came on here to ask the exact same question. I dieted hard core about 6 years ago and lost over 80 pounds and during this time I ate a lot of watermelon. Helped keep my bowels moving (sorry, tmi) and the scale moved down every day. I am a month and a half out and I can't use the bathroom at all, and have tried everything. I'm thinking to try and eat watermelon and wanted some input from anyone who has experienced positive results from eating watermelon. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

@Healthy_life2 thanx for the "revival" - I feel like singing !!! i was sleeved one month shy of turning 58 years old, 7+ years later, i am 65 years young!! used to be 5'3" - now i stand 6' feet TALL!! (still cute as a button!!) inherited kidney problems from dad - about 15 years agoπ, good looks from mom LOL Dialysis started one year ago -no prob - no pain - sleep fine, "hooked" up in bed at night for 10 hours.(hmmmm, sounds kinkyπ) dialysis then does its stuff and i'm good to go. (small catheter in stomach / attached 30' hose) i can reach/walk to the bathroom - phew!!! (hmmmm - probably TMI, but when you are in renal failure - your kidney functions - urinating - decrease/STOP) buttt unfortunately you still feel that need/urge to go to the BR (you try, but will be unsuccessful) i eat like a "normal" person, Moderation used to be a big problem. all good now - watch how and what i eat, i no longer keep track of my day with MFP - but i am very mindful of what/how much i eat & drink, calories etc. weigh daily after i shower- weight fluctuates 5+ lbs here and there GOAL - was 130 - now 135-140. NEVER have gone over that dreadful # of 140. that's my story and i'm stickin' to it. π€£ (film at 11:00, coming to a theater near you!!) hugggggs to all my BP family holding a glass of water up to your/our health kathy

β€My Revision Storyβ€
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
ππππππππ Updates ππππππππ 24 days post op & doing pretty well. Lots of vitamins in my routine. I also realized that i need to open my PPI and swallow the beads as opposed to taking the capsule whole otherwise I get strong reflux like symptoms late in the evening. I don't think it GERD returning but post op I was placed on the PPI for 3 additional months to calm things down the evaluate. Also figuring out my new food intolerances and so far just heavy cream based soups (will not try again) As far a diet i am progressing on schedule but I have had beans and tubers which is not on my NUT plan. She failed to take into consideration: 1. I'm already at goal (she wanted me to eat pure protein nothing else π) 2. I have prior protein intolerances so they need to be rotated in/out or I get constipation/aversion 3. She hasn't dealt with a revision patient that was already at goal, didn't have regain So I kindly injected the food in the appropriate stages that I remembered from VSG π (yup I still have my packet almost 2 yrs later) β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°TMI TIME β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β° *squeamish please exit stage left* At one point last week I experienced terrible constipation from eating only/too much protein and called my team to confirm the plan. I was told to increase the stool softener and laxative until it resolved. If that didn't work I could use MOM or an enema. I had to use all of them to fix it π. But it worked and I have been regular ever since This week was much better, likely from the natural fiber balancing out the protein plus increased SS/L, however today...diarrhea. No good reason except my cycle is approaching. Oh Joy. This has reduced my weight to 150lbs. I just need to make certain this isnt a stomach flu or lasting thing as I have a Wedding next week But so far so good π -
β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β° πππππππ *TMI TIME YAY* πππππππ For my revision surgery, my BF pretty much stayed with me non stop to help me recover. Prior to that I cleaned my refrigerator thoroughly. It was completely orderly. Because I wasn't always cooking he usually ordered out and my refrigerator was wrecked/stuff to the gills with things no one would have eaten for leftovers. B-Side Questions: How often do you clean out your refrigerator/pantry? Anyone in particular that ruins it?

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
GreenTealael replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have done a modified version from the start (~2 oz of pp in coffee 1x daily-breakfast) It helped ease me into the lifestyle and I was able to do it for 5 days straight my first go Ive also done purer fasts wet and dry. What I noticed was the dryer the fast (consumption of no calories or liquids) the faster hunger dissipated and the quicker I lost weight (so I reserve these for religious & medical reasons) These days I have given up coffee entirely π, but my tea has a little cream in it. I did IF by accident yesterday and ended up losing 2lbs overnight (likely from water weight but TMI: im in the luteal phase of my cycle where I traditional gain lbs) HAPPY FASTING EVERYONE -
Diarrhea and work
Sharon B A replied to Sharon B A's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks @FluffyChix, I'm hoping its not an infection but i don't want to be lactose intolerant either! I've got about 3 dozen different types of protein shakes that are all dairy based and i just love milk, that would be heartbreaking! We'll see what happens, whatever it is, I'm just going to have to deal with it. I'll definitely go get the raw sauerkraut or kefir, hopefully something will help it as yesterday was probably the worst day for the big D, i was literally in the restroom a few times an hour. I'm keeping hydrated tho so thats good but my bum is so sore, the medicated wipes do help. TMI! Thanks for the advice!!! -
TMI time: A former lover had such firm taught muscle tightened skin that I use to touch it obsessively. I'm sure he thought it was some insane sexual attraction when in reality I was extremely jealous and trying to find out how to imitate it π

Yesterday's Menu - July 31st 5'2" βοΈ 9m post-op 115.1 lbs (maintaining) It's after midnight, so I figure I can write this up now. Spoiler alert: the day ended with a big downer... 10:10 am: 2 cups black coffee (10 cals) 2:30 pm: *only ate 2/3 of this* salad + 2 oz grilled chicken + .75 oz duck breast + 1 oz feta cheese + 1oz carrots (227 cals) 4:40 pm: *ate the remaining 1/3 of my 2:30 meal* 6:30 pm: 1/4 cup low cal ice cream + 1/4 cup brownie w/ frosting (330 cals) 7:30 pm: *drinks and apps at a bar* 1oz beef jerky + buffalo cauliflower + blue cheese dip + 1/2 a vodka caesar (550 cals) Totals: 1117 cals, 53g Protein, 66g NET carbs, 79g fat 10:45 pm: suspicious tummy rumbling begins... TMI ALERT!! So the ride home from the bar was pretty stressful as 2 minutes after I got in the car, I suddenly needed to get to a washroom BADLY..something apparently didn't agree with me and I had some explosive poop as a result. Luckily I made it home before the explosion happened in my pants. I suspect the dumping was due to the blue cheese dip, but it could very well had been the cauliflower, it was especially greasy and I ate quite a bit of it. Or...it could have been the brownie I ate beforehand. The onset of this, however, was much later than my previous dumping experiences as those started within 10-20 minutes of eating the offending food...so yeah, i feel pretty crappy right now

I try hon. It's all a mindset. Swearsies. So I am just trying to occupy my mind with other things and trying to school myself to go back to liquids. It's so odd how resistant I am to it and how much I want to deny this is happening. I love food so much and have a full ice box! Gah! LOL. Rationalize much? Right? ((hugs)) TY for the good vibes hon! It's all gonna be fine. My guts just have to learn who's boss. I'm just not willing to be its little bio*ch! hehe. (Oh and stay tuned, I may do a "workout" outfit today that is form fitting. LOL. Prolly WWWWWWaaay TMI! LOL!) -
Had surgery 6/24. Lost 21 pounds so far - can someone tell me how long it took to lose your weight?
HopefulonLI replied to HopefulonLI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Guys I also found a free app called βMonitor Your Weightβ that allows you to add your weight daily, set your target weight goal and target date goal. Itβs what I was looking for - I wanted a daily log to look back on. This may be TMI (so stop reading now if youβre squirley) but as we know, this process definitely leaves us constipated. Someone on here stated they use colace when needed. Well after 3 days of usage, last night I finally went and I literally felt like my life exited my body! :). In all seriousness, not going for that long made me feel sluggish. Anyway - long story short - I lost 2 POUNDS that next morning. Crazy. -

Iβm so happy to hear this! Iβll be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and Iβm DRAINED! Iβm tired ALL the time... I can sleep for hours. I was starting to feel a kind of way thinking how long will this continue? Especially during the time of the month... I couldβve slept for 24 hours (sorry fellas for the TMI lol) -
Hi guys, Sorry for this TMI but I donβt know who else to ask. Ever since my gastric sleeve surgery, after I eat (no matter how much) I produce a LOT of saliva. So much so that I have to keep spitting it out. And itβs also really really thick. This just seems so weird to me. Has anyone else had this?
