I'm scheduled for surgery with Slimband on April 7th and I'm wondering what people think of their post-op program. Has it been positive? Are they proactive, helpful, easy to get a hold of? Do you feel well supported in your weight loss journey? I was originally going with the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Mississauga but I switched to Slimband and I'm really nervous that I will regret my decision. Any feedback on Slimband (good or bad) would be much appreciated.

I am planning to have my surgery and fills through the canadian company Slimband. I have joined their forum, but for some reason cannot post or communicate with anyone, My consultant is looking into that for me. But I really want to connect with people who have used them and how it has worked out. I am from Alberta. If anyone is a slimband patient please respond. I would love to be in touch with you!!

I am going to do this!!
dramamommy replied to dramamommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the response! I never thought of his "silence" as his way of letting me make the decision. Of course he is concerned about the whole thing, but he has also watched me do plan and after plan, lose the weight and put it back on. He knows how much of a struggle it is for me. I am working on the money aspect tomorrow and then I think hubby and I need to sit down and talk it out. I hope he follow your hubby's example and gets 100% behind me. I am going to need his support. But I also know that I am confident in my decision and ready to do this and do the work involved. It is such a journey already. It is always on my mind, and I always find myself coming here to read everyone's stories and get an idea of what lies ahead for me. I know most of you are from the US, but any Canada Slimbands or Alberta people out there, love to hear from you! -
after researching and reading the pros and cons, and going back and forth on my decision, I have decided I am going to do this! Get the Slimband (canada company) This week I am going to work out the money aspect and then I am moving forward with this decision, I am ready to do the work and I have faith that this is what has been missing over my 25 year battle with my weight!!! I love this forum and it has been my support as I make this decision, My hubby is being quiet on this one. not supportive or discouraging, Just quiet..... anyone else have this experience with their spouse??

Hello - New Here and Considering WLS - lapband
dramamommy posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Everyone! First off let me say that I have been lurking here for awhile and I can not thank you enough for all the posts. They are really helping me with this decision. I am considering the Slimband (Canada) and I am just trying to make sure I have done my research. I consider myself a professional dieter. I have been on them ALL. And when I say all I mean ALL. I do not think there is one left that I have not tried. I can lose the weight on pretty much any program, but it never stays off. Am I scared of surgery?? Of Course, but I am also scared of going through a great loss and another failure, it is having a devasting effect on my moral and self esteem. I told myself the last time, if I gained it back then that was it, NO MORE, I just had to accept myself as is and learn to live in my body and like it. Well here I am and once again I can live like this, it rules so many thoughts in my day. What scares me more than then money or the surgery is .... is this just another "weight" related thing I have tried. I am battling with myself on that one. Will the band be the tool that I have needed all these years, or is it just another thing I try... I would appreciate any comments or suggestions and thanks again for the support you have shown others, it has been a huge comfort to me. -
Starting to get nervous. I'm scheduled with Slimband on Wednesday afternoon. We fly in (my wife and I) from Nova Scotia in the morning. Excited about the change - afraid of failing - again. Fingers crossed. Thanks Glenn

I think most of us in this thread went to SWLC and not Slimband so not really sure what their protocol is once you have decided. With SWLC, after we speak with the surgeon and make up our mind, they set a date then we speak with our patient coordinator who walks us through everything.

Hi, I saw my doctor today and he had received and read the package from Slimband. He said that he thought the whole thing was a good idea and was very encouraging. So what now? I have emailed the girl that I had my phone consultation with and am assuming she will reply tomorrow. What happens after you have made the decision to go through with the procedure? Vicki

Hi Doddie, I appreciate your responce and input. The more I read the better I understand that this is going to be a lot of work but well worth the while I believe. You are right, there will have to be a change in my eating habits but it is my hope that Slimband will indeed be the right tool for me. Thanks again. Vicki

I don't know which company I should use
confusedneedshelp posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I am very new to this I have only been looking into it for awhile. I need help I am reading so much information on this blog on goods and bad surgeons. I do not what company I should go with? I am looking at slimband as it sounds that they can get me in the quickest ( I hating when I really want something). But I have heard good and bad things I would just like some advice from people who have been banded recently. Also does anybody know if someone does banding in Calgary and how long does it take to get in if they do? Any advice would be very helpful at this point. How do I research the surgeons? Thank you Very confused -
Hello, I have just joined this forum and find it most informative. I am very happy to see that most of you have had good experiences at the Slimband clinic in Toronto. I am visiting my own GP tomorrow to get his input and then I will hopefully be able to book my own surgery soon afterward. Best of luck to you all and I look forward to sharing my own experiences with you soon.

Hello everyone, I have enjoyed reading your input and found it all both interesting and informative. I am at the point of visiting my own GP tomorrow and hope that he sees no reason why I can not proceed with the Slimband procedure. I really hope that this is the answer that I have been looking for. I have dieted since I was 16 and am now 52. I have 3 grown children and 1 absolutely wonderful grandson . To be perfectly honest, this procedure sounded too good to be true, but since I have read your postings, I can see that it isn't going to be a walk in the park! There is going to be a lot of work ahead. I have lost hundreds of pounds over the years and of course have put it all back on, and then some. My hope with procedure is that once I have reached my goal this time that Slimband is going to make it impossible to gain the weight back.

Anyone being banded at Slimband in Toronto soon?
Scoobie posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wondering what your experience with their people has been to this point. Mine has been mostly positive but somewhat mixed. I cannot get them to send me a copy of a receipt for $8000 I've already paid. Getting frustrated with that. It's a big chunk of money, I don't understand their resistance. Also when are you being banded by Slimband and what made you choose them? -
hi the info I got from Slimband in Toronto is there is a clinic in Edmonton which is located at 10020 101A Avenue NW. I don't have a ph number but maybe the TO office could give it to you. I was told they do fills there for Slimband patients.
-
Hi: This clinic is realtively new, but we have a few that have had surgery with them. They have a good followup aftercare. Their dietician attends our meetings. Please feel free to come to our meetings and get a variety of opinions on all clinics, Mexico, Slimband, Woodhead, Leung, NWLSC, and soon a new clinic will be opening up put on by Dr. Colbourne. We welcome everyone, pre or post surgery. Doreen

Just came back from my family doctor's and got a 1/2 cc fill which takes me back to where I was before they took out 2 cc June 29 at Slimband. I feel quite restricted and have only had water in the first couple of hours since my fill. I will stay on liquids today and tomorrow, then mushies before trying solid food. I hope this takes my hunger and craving for carbs away. I want to lose what I gained (almost 30 lbs) and then finish the last 10 or so after that to goal. Wish me luck.

I am currently booking my surgery with SlimBand and was told that there is no credit check as they personally finance your surgery through their clinic. If you call and speak with them they will give you all the details:thumbup:

Has anyone gone with slimband? What kind of credit would you need for their financing?

I had my band done through slimband, and it has been a pretty good experience. I'm from alberta, so i get my fills done in calgary- slimband calls and does some follow-up and then i call the fill clinic and set up a time that works for me. Dr.Cyriac did my surgery and he did a pretty good job.
