  1. I know the feeling! I gain some times too. What I do if I feel like I'm getting out of control I go on liquids for a couple of day to get the band back in order. It's a constant struggle but I'm here to help you let me know if I can!

  2. That's great that you have been pre-approved....as I understand it, I am still in the "getting approved" stage? My carrier has to approve the consult, so I guess that means that are tentatively "approving" but still need the rest of the info to make an "approval, approval"...too confusing. Had my psyche yesterday. Not sure how it went. The clinician stated that he need to note that I am still dealing with some "unresolved issues" from childhood....great, huh? I could have lied about who I am/my thoughts/feelings/etc to get a "pass"...but b/c I am trying to honestly deal with my weight issues, then I get flagged as a "maybe"....go figure. It just never ends...1st you go through it, then it becomes a barrier later in life. We'll have to wait and see what happens next.

  3. Hey girl, I started at 255lbs. So far it has been just a little over a year an I have only lost 50 lbs. I must add though that I do not have time to exercise. So all of this is just appetite control. I am sure if I had the time to exercise I would be hitting that goal of 80lbs or more. I am disappointed, but I know I am not using this tool to the full 100% yet. Once I get done with school I plan on hitting the gym. Also, just today I spoke with my Dr. who understands my extremely demanding schedule and has prescribed me Meridia. I will let you know how that goes if it adds to my weight loss and update you as soon as I see some results.

  4. Hey Destined! I'm doing great I got approved after 2weeks from the time they submitted my paperwork. I have my surgery date Mon, March 1st! I'm so excited I just can't hide it I'm 'bout 2 lose some weight & I know I love it! (Borrowed from fellow bandster but I remixed it!..giggles) I know time is near but I wish it was already here!! It's okay w/the late response glad you got back 2 me I'm not nervous 'bout the surgery @ all this will be my 2nd bariatric surgery (gastric bypass 2004) did really great until the meds which caused me 2 pick up 2 much weight 2 fast only thing scares me is the fills, I seen the needle! My dr numbs the area 1st but I hate needles w/a passion!! I am a straight punk!! lol!!

I pray that your next fill is better than your 1st one Mama!! Are you getting in all your protein?? How much are you getting in, in a day? I have some really cool info on extra protein I can give you if you like. Looking forward to chatting with you soon. Keep me posted....Smooches!!

  7. Hey Bobbie! Happy Happy Birthday!!!!

Sorry I haven't been on here much lately. I finally made it past my 6 month plateau. I've lost 10 pounds in the last 4 weeks. I too am now around 212 / 213. And I agree we should have been in Onderland by now. But I am still very happy to be where I am. It's so much better than the 281 I started at. Don't get discouraged. I started to drift and go back to old habits. I have since kicked it into high gear and eating healthy again and the biggest part for me is exercise. I have learned that is the ONLY way I can lose weight. So I have to stick to the basics and what works for me. I hope you had a good birthday and treated yourself! :) stay in touch

  8. Hi Ab, I totally forgot about this sight. I am doing okay, I went from 300 lbs down to 260 lbs. I am not thrilled with the slow outcome but my doctor is . He says that slow mehtodical weight loss lasts longer. I lift weights alot so my ideeal weight is 180, but the doc says 200 is fine (not). I hope everyhting is going well with you, if you ever get a chance email me at jimkilc@yahoo.com. I like that site much better. have a great day.

  9. Happy B-Day. I'm sure you're feeling younger because of your weight loss. Don't beat yourself up bout not being in Onederland yet. You'll get there. Just keep on plugging away at it. I'm doing well. I'm back at work and glad to be away from the house more. I'm having a little problem with nausea and burping when I get hungry. I'm gonna post something about it and see if anyone has any suggestions. Take care.

  10. For me a huge learning curve on what I can and cannot eat. It is now my way of LIFE and I love it. Best WL tool out there. My sister had GBP 9 years ago and she lost lots but has also gained some back. I have been going by the book. Just call me an over achiever. LOL Keep me posted and we can be friends. Also go to Fat Frog Diary she has many recipes and read The Sweet Spot blog these are two of my favorites. Best wishes, Love Kathy imaluckydog

  11. Hey girl! Our Bandiversary is coming up very soon!!! 2/25/10! I can't believe it's been a year already! I just celebrated 40 lbs. this week. I thought I would never meet that mark! The last few months have been hard and the weight has been slowwww to come off! But I am still hopeful that it will keep moving down the scale. I have had 5 fills so far and have a total of 5 cc. I don't think I can take anymore, my band is tight enough for now. I sure hope that you are doing okay and that you have found a good spot (with the band). Love to hear from you!

    Shelley

  12. Wow! You have done great without having the band yet...I think the best thing about the band is being able to keep the weight off easily. And not really ever being on a diet!! Good luck, let us know how your surgery goes...AND what happened to the hamsters?

  13. you have done really great! I gotta catch up with you! I keep getting close then gaining what i lost back! :-( I'm still working on my re-motivation and getting back in the gym.

  14. I lift weights as well as do arm exercises that work both inner and outer arm till it burns like hell every other day

  15. Well I had been at a plateau for a few months. So I totally revised my eating choices and hit the gym every other day for about 2 1/2hrs give or take a few mins I have a routine that I do 1hr cardio then weights, abs, arms and inner outer thighs, and back. At 1st I was just loosing inches, now Im loosing weight too.

  16. Good luck with the removal. I just got mine put in, and its not so fun at the moment, I hope I never have to get surgery again!! Anyways, keep your chin up, your weight loss is going great!!

  17. Hi, thanks for the compliments. I do workout a lot - about 5-6 times a week. I do cardio 3 times, weights 3 times (1 of those times is with a trainer), and abs every day. It's a lot of work and dedication, but totally worth it. I feel so much better about myself and I used to have serious back issues, which have faded along with the weight. The 65 lbs I've lost is a lot of weight and strain to be carrying around with you every day. Are you banded?

  18. First Dr's Visit: 07/28/2009

    Weight: 255 lbs

    BMI: 44

    3-Month Diet/Nutrition Program

    Insurance Disapproved: 12/2009

    Insurance Approved: 01/2010

    Surgery Date: 01/21/2010

    Pre-Op Weight: 247

  19. Correct, depending on your size - I weighed about 280 and mine was about an hour.

There is a combination of soreness and discomfort, a lot of which is dealing with your own mind. I had a fear of hurting myself so I was afraid to sit up.

Actually diet before surgery was important for me because I had a fatty liver so losing some weight before hand helps shrink the size of the liver and makes it easier for them to work on me. The diet before consisted of high protein shakes, broths and non-starchy vegetables. From the reading I've been doing every doctor varies so if they didn't mention it, it is probably not necessary.

After surgery, I have two week liquid, then move on to purees for another two weeks, then soft foods. So your six weeks seems normal to me.

    Hope this is helpful.

  20. Congrats on getting your band!! Thanks for the visit to my profile. Good luck with the weight loss, I'm sure you will do great!!

  21. Hi JoJo, I live in Shelley...small world! My surgery is on May 5th, next Wednesday. Dr. Chamberlain in Idaho Falls is doing it. Where did you have your surgery done at? Did you go through New U @ EIRMC? Keep in touch....you have lost so much weight, you look awesome!!!

  22. We've lost almost the same amount and unfortunately had pretty close starting weights. :P I'm doing great. I'm loving life, ya know? I've fallen in love with working out bc I can really kill it in the gym now - I just feel strong. I've lost 104 with the band (banded July 10, 09) and 119 total! What do you do in STL? I work for the State Senate...policy & budget nerd. Haha.

  23. Izaiahsmommy-When are you starting your pre-op diet? I am starting mine on Sunday! What are you doing for yours? I am able to have 3 protein shakes and some other "liquids". I will get about 800 cals a day for pre-op! Oh boy! May I ask how much weight you want to lose?

  24. Hi there, Crissy!

I am getting mine done at NorthWest Weight Loss Surgery Center in Everett. All they do for weight loss is Lap Band. Hearing that you are going to Swedish for yours makes me wonder if I have made a mistake. Just because Swedish is such a wonderful hospital. NWWLS has been wonderful. They have support meetings twice a month and open appointments for counseling so that part is nice.

I read about your infection... best of luck with that! Hope you are making a quick recovery and getting on top of it. I am on my post op diet. Three 110 calorie protein shakes and one 400 calorie meal a day. It is crazy. However, important because it shrinks the liver to make the surgery easier.

Thursday is my surgery. Should take four hours and then I can go home.

I will let you know how things were for me.

I am more nervous than I thought I would be. About the journey after the surgery and not the surgery itself.

    Cheers,

    Tanya
