Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
msdrea24 replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone! So it has definitely been a while since the last time I shared. I am 26 days out... 4 weeks to be exact on Monday. A week prior to surgery I weighed 245 lbs., the day of surgery I weighed 234 lbs and as of last Monday I weighed 219 lbs. I am 15 lbs. lighter since surgery and wildly confused about my latest eating experiences. For the first two weeks, I was basically on all fluids, Soups, Protein shakes, sf popsicles and Water was not well tolerated at all. After my two week follow-up appmt with the surgeon and the NUT I was cleared to eat "pureed" foods. I was given the green light on lots of different types of food, except rice, bread, Pasta, and other "carbs" that my NUT didn't think would help my supposed "high protein diet" that included Beans, oatmeal, Cereal, cooked carrots, corn and potatoes. Also, she said no to creamed soups, because they have too many preservatives or additives. I tried to be good and so far I've been cooking almost every night pretty healthy meals including baked skinless chicken with veggies including carrots and corn (lol), baked salmon with veggies, ground beef with red, green peppers, small pieces of potatoes, onions, sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese, parmesan crusted- pan seared salmon fillet and veggies and soups including creamed soups. For fluids, I am still having the "stuck" feeling with water and yet sf popsicles are super easy to eat and my personal favorite drink green tea with unsweetened lemonade and two splendas goes down super easy as well. Plus, since I commute to New York City for work Monday through Friday, I walk about 30 minutes at day at a fast pace (in other words, that is my exercise)...Lol Soooo, for the most part I stay on track not eating those "no no foods" however, lately it seems like I've been more relaxed with the rules and I've eaten everything from popcorn (at the movie theatres), to an 8oz slurpee, and a few Oreos (without the cream). I've taken bites of some junk food here and there, though I steer clear of bread, rice and pasta no matter how much I want to chomp down on them....and finding accompaniments for meat and fish has become a creative process. Lol. Sort to say. So with all this said, I am pretty worried, because many times I have been able to eat everything that I wanted at pretty high portions like 6oz of meat or fish and 3 or 4 oz of veggies even though it takes me a few hours to finish, but I get it down. Lately I've been asking myself if I'm even sleeved?? Geez! I'm almost sure I am. Lol, but I am so scared to gain weight, I have gone through the weight loss/ weight gain thing wayy too many times and I should be sure that since I'm sleeved I will go down, but I am not 100% confident. Is it possible to dialate my tummy already???... Our sleeve is a tool, I just hope I'm using it the right way. I'm sure that I don't even get half of the liquids that I am supposed to be drinking, TMI ALERT: my pee is way dark and definitely no enough at all times due to my lack of liquid in take, but I'm sure eating. My goal is to be 160-165 lbs. much sooner than later. I hope it happens. Good luck to all of you out there, reading your posts helps me immensely. I wish all of you that are having serious complications and financial issues blessings and that all gets better soon. I'm having financial issues too. But it will get better! ...and to all of you that are doing good/great keep it up! =) -

Check your Protein levels...how much are you getting each day? AND your Fluid....almost more important than the protein. Also, and not to share too much tmi....could it be your TOM? And it could just be that something you ate, just did not sit well inside of you and caused you to bloat. Water, water, water. Try to not eat too many processed things. Just because you don't know exactly what is in it unless you cook it yourself. I'm just trying to give you different ideas to help. May just be something with you. You may still be bloated from surgery. I am also 4 weeks out from surgery and there are days I feel more "puffed" out than usual. Honestly for me, those are days when I haven't had enough water. And my body is holding on to what it has and not giving it up. Hang in there:) -
Sorry, this is a bit embarrasing, but since ive been home from the hospital my stools are loose. Is this normal? Oh, and a bit dizzy once in awhile. Is all this normal?

October Bandsters?
journeygirl28 replied to Ms. Blue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is anyone taking anything for fiber? I feel like I'm constantly sipping on something trying to get all of the protein in. I also feel like I constantly have to burp but can't get it to come out. And I know this is TMI, but I would be so happy if I could poop.... -
Hi I dont know how far out you are but this seems normal to me,happened to me as well.I've often wished I was one of these people that now feels no hunger and forgets to eat and complain that they dont get enough cals..blablabla...lol But at 7 monyhs out I have made peace with it.I still buy a big tasty burger once in a blue moon, sit down with it,take a big bite of the burger, try a little of the bun, just to have it come right back up in my mouth and have to spit it out..TMI,I know, but I somehow dont feel the frustration of not being able to eat it anymore.I just go and make a protein pancake with lots of sf syrup and Im happy. It will come, you'll see. Some of us have real food issues that takes a little longer to resolve. Also the closer I get to goal, the better I feel about not eating a lot anymore. Just hang in there.Make your food choice daily.Dont decide for forever today.Just choose every day to choose to eat right for this one day, dont know if this makes sense but good luck and remember to be nice to yourself with things oer than food.

Ok abdominal pains feels like I worked out to hard kinda soreness Plus the gas has kicked in. The nurse just gave me my first cup of ice. I will take it slow though. I'm able to get up on my own with no assistance to pee(maybe tmi) but I think it's the small things pre opers may want. Grateful for the advice given here about splinting with additional pillow. So far so good.... -
Sorry tmi but how long post op was it before you had a bowel movement ? I had surgery 10-9 and haven't had one ... Starting to worry about it . Thanks

Anyone Have Suggestions For A Liquid Diet?
LizTex2587 replied to LizTex2587's topic in Liquids (stage 1)
Thanks so much for sharing a part of your journey with me! Jello sounds like a good idea, but I am not partial to it at all. I have a problem with certain textures in my mouth, and I just can't eat them without gagging! I can usually handle Jello if I let it dissolve in my mouth and then swallow it and I'm ok with apple sauce sometimes. Needless to say, I am not looking forward to pureed foods. yikes...TMI about my digestive woes!! sorry yall! -
Thanks ladies...I know this is TMI but if I could just pooh I would feel a ton better!

Oh please forgive me for this post! Had anyone else had the problem with their bm smelling way different and yellow? I KNOW TMI but its really gross and I'm concerned.

Hey - I just had all my 4.5 oz removed from my band because of an upcoming trip to rural China. We were concerned about issues I may have over there (and no way to get help). I will have it put back in mid-November. Anyway, I never even thought to ask my doc but has anyone else had a removal of Fluid? I am very nauseous and having diarrhea/gas (sorry if TMI). Is it just my stomach getting used to more food at one time? It is very strange feeling. Any help advice/appreciated. I am leaving the country and 36 hours and want to know if this is normal. Honestly Dude Im going to put it like this. I haven't told my friends yet either. not becasue of what they would say but I just haven't. but when time comes for me to tell them, Im going to put it all on the table and you know what I have to back it up with? I am 4 months post op. I feel better than I have in at least 20 Years. I have dropped 4 maybe 5 pant sizes. the sex is better than has been in my 11 years of marriage. Im like a porn start dude and my wife can't get enough of it, son. and the morning wood is something serious. your woman will wake up to a sweet surprise. So let your friends throw insults, in a few months, you'll be throwing something else.....Im done. TMI? I don't care cause its real. -
Awkward Question
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to ameliamaebe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
coffee has always made me (find the bathroom after about an hour after drinking it) still does (sorry TMI) if you are on soup/broth on your liquid phase, it did the same to me. i still have a change of clothes here at work,,,just in case. i learned quick i think if you are concerned, call the dr. they operated on you and know what is going on. they will either tell you to chill out or come in for a looksee. so give them a call and see what they say -
Anyone who has been through it and passed... can you please tell me what to expect? I read somewhere that someone tried it years ago and was diagnosed with depression---does that mean you can't get the surgery? I also read that they give you a check off list to show how weight has affected you---what is this truly trying to get at? I know it's seeing are you emotionally/mentally ready for surgery, but I'm just scared I won't pass as I do see a Psychologist already for bi-polar (which is in my charts) which has a depressive side to it and currently on meds for that. :- / A little TMI, but I'd just like to know what I'm getting myself into here.

How Long Before I Can Stand Pressure On My Tummy?
beefalogal posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sleeved on 9/20. I need o go back to work on Monday and I can not stand any pressure on my tummy. I have been wearing my elastic waist pants and choosing ones that will stay up but have plenty of space in the waist. I have been wearing my grown up work clothes for several hours a day but the panty hose ( tmi I know) and pants with defined waist and tucked in blouse is very uncomfortable after a couple hours. Any one here just have to just suck it up and wear it? If so, how long does it take? -

RN, I was given medicine to make me loopy before being taken into the OR. I barely remember getting on the table. I wouldn't worry about it. They were just probably trying to help you relax. This might be a TMI question so my apologies beforehand. I'm now on my full liquids. I have a protein shake for breakfast and snack. Every time I drink one, I have to go to the bathroom. What in the world could be causing diaherria (I know that's not spelled right lol)? I am almost to the point of giving up on them. The shakes did not do that to me before surgery. -
I am going through the same thing. I have been banded 2 years and lost 135 lbs. I had a painful episode in April, went to the emergency room after being in pain for 3 days. And was told nothing, must be gas. Also went to my gastro dr. he said nothing was wrong, to take Miralax everyday to make sure I am not constipated. Since I have been taking the Miralax on a regular, I have had no problems going to bathroom or passing gas. Everything I eat was coming out in about an hour (sorry tmi). On Friday, I came to work and had to be sent home in car service the pains were so bad. I had to open my pants, I looked like I was 5 months pregnant. I went to my primary dr. she sent me to the emergency room to have a Cat Scan. They found nothing. I am going to watch what I am eating also. I have been eating a lot of cottage cheese and greek yogurt for breakfast. I definitely will try going dairy free. I think I will stop eating that and see what happens. If anything has any good suggestions for us, please let us know. Good luck to you.

Questions About Post-Op Flight Home
slatond replied to AngelEyesInNJ's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Wheelchair -- No I didn't request wheel chair. It was actually WONDERFUL to be able to walk. It was a long day w/ 2 flights. We left @ 8:30AM from hotel and didn't arrive @ destination until almost midnight. I was anxious to walk every chance I got. Early boarding... I'm not sure early boarding is needed. BUT I HIGHLY recommend making sure you get an aisle seat. So if flying SW or an airline that doesn't assign seats then early boarding might be best. I did request early boarding on the 2nd leg of flights as we were on SW and I wanted to make sure I got an aisle so I could get up to go to bathroom or walk if needed. It was a 5 hr flight. Sick or not?: No, Never felt sick @ ALL. I did pay extra for pain medication for day of flight as original prescription from Dr was finished day b4. However, I think I could have done w/o it. Never felt pain. TMI -- only other thing on the day of my flight... It was my first BM day and I am so GLAD I had my gatorade that day. I would definitely make sure you consume your liquids and if you think u might need the electrolytes purch a gatorade to sip on after you check bags! -
How Often To Lap Banders Pee I'm Worried...
FLORIDAYS replied to goingfoit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my experience....Going to the bathroom before wls is no different than after wls except that now I go more because I drink more Water. And it might be TMI but my bowl movement are much more pleasent because they aren't promoted by fatty foods. I have a hard time with the water... So I fill up a pitcher of water with 32oz every morning and don't go to bed until I finish it. I take bottles to work with the other 32 oz in it... And make sure they are done before I get home. Yes that would be me you see downing 2 or 3 bottles on the way home because I have to finish them....lol -
