    Slowest looser ever

4lbs a week is 2-3 lbs above the recommended amount a person should lose a week. 4lbs a week isn't slow. I know it seems like a lot of people drop SERIOUS weight in the first few weeks but not all of us do. You CANNOT make your body do what it isn't going to do so, in order to NOT go insane, keep your eyes on your own paper. Look at your own history, your own journey, your own success. You're down 13lbs from your surgery date and that's fantastic. I NEVER more than 2 or 3 lbs a week after my first week post op. NEV. ER. But now I am down 102lbs. You will keep losing! You are right on track. Keep your thoughts positive, follow the rules, do the work. your sleeve is WORKING. Also keep in mind you may be dropping inches, and probably from places you don't even realize like ankles, wrists, knees. One of the first things I noticed, 4 days post op is that it no longer hurt like hell to climb the stairs. Start counting your NSV's and relax. It's working.
  4. First of all, congrats on all of those NSV's! I recently had some of the same experiences so I totally understand. The realization that those stupid gowns actually fit me was amazing...in fact, they're way too big now. The first time that happened, I found myself wondering if they finally got wise and invested in bigger gowns for us fat people. Then it happened again at a different office and it finally dawned on me that it was because I am smaller and not that the gowns are bigger!haha... Anyway, good luck with all of the testing! Hope everything goes ok for you!
  5. Congratulations on all your nsv 's ! Big or small, weird or not, they're all related to your hard work, so give yourself a big pat on the back ! You go girl !
  6. I went to the hospital this morning to have a stress test. I need a colonoscopy and my doctor wanted something checked out regarding my ECG. I've been through hell and back in terms of my health so I'm not going to worry about anything unless or until I have to. But the visit was chock full of NSVs from the gown being too big on me (rather than my having to hold it closed, or even wear two of them, back to front and front to back) to the nurse being blown away when she saw my pre band photo once she pulled up my electronic records to fitting into the echo machine. One time I had to have a special part put into the MRI machine so my huge trunk-like leg would fit into it. Talk about embarrassing. I remember with such intensity, worrying about almost every situation in terms of my once obese body. Would I fit into something? Would I break something? Would someone say something nasty to me? Would I embarrass whomever I was with? Right now these feelings are very strong because the weight loss is new. I need to find that balance so I don't focus on it, but I don't lose sight of it either. I don't ever ever ever want to be heavy again.

August post op sleevers: Check in

Glad to see everyone is doing well here. I have no idea where i am in regards to weight lose. I do notice that my stomach is getting smaller, YaY! I have my energy back, it doesn't matter because I am still lazy, lol. I am so over the full liquid thing. I hope to be cleared to the next next phase on Monday. I also did not exercise yet. I need to be cleared for the recumbent bike, once that happens I am going to take off with that. Still doing the Flintstones Complete. Four out of five of my terry strips came off. The biggest incision is closed. I was really concerned with that. All in all I feel like I didn't have the surgery. But I must note that I did not have hernia repair so that could make a difference. My pain after surgery felt like a bad tummy ache. And the pain on day 2 that I had felt like an alien was coming through my chest. Talk about Aliens part 7, lol. That pain was terrible but was controlled with narcotics. I also suffered from nausea and they gave me Patches to take home. That nausea really set me back. they kept bringing the Optisource shakes and they were terrible. the only thing I did like was the broth. I wasted those shakes and felt bad about it. I am so happy that so many of the August folks are getting their walking in. As long as we stick to our doctor's plan we can accomplish our goals people. Just remember to measure and take your time eating and drinking. Any NSV's (non scale victories) yet? Please share.
  8. Mine isn't so much achey as they are sensitive to the touch. I can't sleep on my sides now because my knees poke together and my collar bones are so sore if I push on them. Puts a slight damper on the "ride a roller coaster" nsv. I've been sick the last few days and everything was achey. Way more than it's ever been in my entire life. I would rather of had surgery again than go through what I went through Wednesday night. My entire body hurt from my head to my knees. I thought I had the flu for sure, but it's just a sinus infection. I broke out in a rash after I started antibiotics and my heart has been doing weird things. I get sinus infections 3-4 times a year and usually get through it without a doctors visit. At the least I'll get a few days into it before I go, but I had to go immediately this time. I don't know if my immune system is still compromised or what but it's been a rough few days. My heart was fine btw and they have no idea what the rash is from.

    Feeling discoraged july sleever

Today was "Weigh-In Wednesday" (that's what I call my weekly weigh in) and, just like clockwork, 3 WEEK STALL!!! Literally exact same weight as last week (344.2). I planned for this so I am going to do measurements and photos later to remind myself of the NSVs, but man, it really is disheartening. I know it will pass, but it's the first break in momentum post surgery, so it's a little bit of a reality check. I a, so thankful this board is here to have warned me about it!! I would probably be losing my MIND right now if I wasn't prepared!!!
  14. #NSV 1 for today - girdles actually work... before they just would smooth out the fat - now they actually hold stuff in. #NSV 2 - folks at the meeting this morning were all "you're losing so much weight" :) Feels good... gotta keep it up.

    September 8 Sleeves Thread

Sooo....since we still have 6 days of fabulous pre op diets to survive, I'd like to focus on some of the NSVs that we're looking forward to. I know we all have several we could list, so let's share what you're excited about. Me? I can't wait to wear a pair of jeans (or anything for that matter) without my "front a**" hanging out! (I have a lot of extra skin from my pregnancies/ c-sections, and that coupled with carrying around extra fat...gives me a big pooch in front...like an a** in front. HATE it!!!) I wanna feel good and look good in my clothes! What's yours??
  17. I finally bought my first Victoria's Secret bra! I've been trying not to buy much in the way of new clothes, but today I bought a smaller bra, and some smaller pants and blouses for work! I'm down 33.2 lbs so far (I'm 5 weeks post op today) and things were starting to get big enough that they looked funny! I'm so happy with how everything is going!!!!!!! Here's me back in April vs. now.
  18. That's one of the best NSVs I've ever read on any WLS forum. Congratulations to you. That's the closing scene in a WLS success story movie!

    And So Our Journey Begins...

My birthday was on Friday, and it was pretty emotional for me, since it was the first one since my divorce this year but I didn't make bad food decisions I also am 1 lb shy of my goal of 25 lb down since surgery. I am 24 lb down since July 24. I'm not sure if I fall under the slow loser category or not but I'm pretty okay with my progress, especially since I know it's only a little over a month out. I still have a long way to go! I decided to give myself a break from protein shakes, they make my mouth taste funny and they aren't delicious. I've been concentrating on getting protein in food form, and I've been doing okay. I can definitely do better, I just don't have the room, or the desire to eat! I went out to dinner at Applebees for my birthday last night with my friends, and I had an AMAZING time, it really reminded me that I have great friends and people love me. I had the quesadilla burger and I half the patty with some salsa, it was really good. They brought out my birthday dessert, a scoop of vanilla ice cream with some chocolate sauce and whip cream and I ate two spoonfuls and wanted no more. That was huge for me, as I was a big time sweets addict. When people would say they don't crave sweets after surgery I didn't believe them and now I see that it is true!! We also went to bar and I had half a small drink that didn't hit me at all alcohol wise, though I still feel the post drinking dehydration hitting me this morning. I went on a shopping spree with my mom yesterday with all my happy birthday discounts and I went to Ross and bought three future shirts. I'm looking forward to wearing them in a month! They don't look too bad on me now actually. They are all 2x from Ross and I use to have a problem finding 3x shirts that fit at Ross, so yay NSV!!

    NSV shout outs

I had a great NSV at the Elizabethan Theater in Ashland a couple of weeks ago. On my first visit, a year ago, I couldn't walk up the stairs to the balcony without stopping to gasp and rest. This year, I just walked right up without giving it a thought until I was at the top and remembered how I felt last year. I am ecstatic that I can now walk and climb stairs without difficulty.
  24. I found you guys! I get lost on this site sometimes, and it depends on whether I'm on my phone, ipad or computer. I just posted today that my NSV was doing my own pedicure. Not great, but done. I have a lot of arthritis in my left knee, so that foot is hard to do. Lindalue, when is your surgery scheduled?

I just did my own pedicure

Good for you! I do mine now as well. Love it! Keep up the good work and write down those NSV so that you can read them later to remind yourself how far you have come!
