I have a IAT, (it's about time) Precious Pouch decided last week that she would tolerate Greek Yogurt, so that gives me an additional protein source, now if she would only condesend to tolerate. cottage cheese, I used love and eat a lot of 1% milkfat kinds. And I might be able to stir in pineapple, something with a higher fiber content. I teeter on the border of another milk and molasses enema, even with 2 Miralax a day. Not so much hard firmness as the fact my rectal muscles are tired, weary and 73 years old. Everything gets crammed down there by peristalsis but then they refuse to push it out into its designated receptacle. My hips have gotten smaller but at times I stagger like a toddler with a Full Diaper. And having to ask professional people for help when it is something your body should do on its own? EMBARRASING extremely EMBARRASING! Who wants "Lady with colon full of excretement" on their medical paperwork?

What do you do when you don’t want to eat?
Sosewsue61 replied to CurvyMom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your hair will fall out more on low protein! Do clear protein drinks maybe ready-made blue raspberry Isopure? Greek yogurt topped with walnuts. Bone broth soup with some onion, celery, bits of chicken. Yes it's a pain to force yourself, but try to get a little more intake. -

February 2019 weight loss buds
TheMarine79 replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am losing about 2-4 pounds a week. There have been a couple weeks where I have gained once. Then the next week I lose it. I am down almost 70 pds. I don’t feel like I eat to much. Everyday no. Somedays here and there yes. If I lost any faster I would be broke from having to buy new clothes. Do I wish I would lose faster. Yes, but I am happy with the weight I have lost so far. If I do decide to snack it is calories that contain protein like yogurt and beef jerky. Sometimes, I will eat skinny pop popcorn. I still stay away from as much dairy and bread as possible. Try to keep carbs to 120-140 grams a day, and I do not drink milk. -
When chia seeds get wet, they expand and are not crunchy. If you put them in yogurt overnight and eat the next day they will be soft. Look at receipts on Pinterest for over night oats. You can follow some of those just leave out the oats if you don’t eat them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I am really interested in chia seeds, after reading about them. However I've only seen people use them in shakes (I don't do) or in yogurt ( not too fond of crunchy yogurt). Does anyone have different uses, recipes, etc for consuming chia seeds?

how often did you feel buyers remorse having the surgery
BlueAngelEyes replied to johnedwin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Biddy zz I am now 1month post op. Sad to say i still feel so much regret getting my surgery. Ive lost 27 pounds. I hit alot of stalls in the beginning not eatting enough protein and water so finally i have everything going ok im starting to adventure to new protein foods. These protein puffs from this bariatric store are actually pretty good with 21g of protein in 1 cup so when i go to the movies or i want to munch i put a cup in a bag and go to town. I need to excercise more i only walk to the park and back everyday and play soccer with my 5yr old. I guess i feel alittle not motivated right now which i need to get out of my head. Anyways i am doing 1 tbs of peanut butter in the morning on a spoon and that helps me drink lots of water then 2hours later i have a protein yogurt and for lunch i have a tuna albacore/ tuna packet. I need convenience so the packet that is just the albacore in water is nice and only 80 cal tons of protein and i can take it to go. I also have the 100cal tuna salad sometimes as well it just has alittle more fat and a few more cals in it. I have pudding in the evening and dinner some chicken cut tiny or canned or sometimes scrambled eggs. Ohb a d my favorite thing i have to limit is 2 sugar free caramel candies i will still lose if i only suck on 2 of them. -
Hey, Sleeve Sister! My doctor isn’t as strict on the liquid diet 2 week pre-op as others. He said that I should avoid carbs- cut out the pasta, bread, etc... you know, the “good” stuff. LOL! He allows soft foods, yogurt, scrambled eggs, etc. I’ll probably do what I did before my date was changes. Do the soft food thing for a week & switch to all liquid for the final week.

Protein suggestions I finally found a good protein powder
Darktowerdream posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I had such a hard time finding protein shakes I could tolerate, they made me feel sick. My nutritionist kept suggesting things that had added iodine (I am allergic) and kept pushing isopure protein because it’s 100% whey protein Isolate. But just the smell alone just made me nauseous. And I couldn’t find a powder that mixed well. I tried several RTD proteins some made me sick, some barely tolerable. I still need protein shakes due to some swallowing issues so I kept looking. I get a lot of my vitamins, protein, and a lot of other things on a site called Vitacost because I get good deals and coupons and I’m on a tight disability budget. I was searching the site for a certain flavor protein powder. Im posting this for two reasons one being that I finally found a protein powder I like, my gut tolerates and seems to be working out so far. The other is the misconception that only pure whey protein Isolate is healthy. It’s old science. The right blend of protein types is better. This protein is a blend of whey protein Isolate and casein. The company researched how the combination offered more benefits. Because not all whey proteins are equal. One brand might make you sick or trigger lactose intolerance even if they claim to be pure. I haven’t had either with this. And despite my taste buds being out of whack, it seems to taste like it should. the brand is PEScience Select, I got peanut butter cookie, and cookies & cream. Macros on it for example cookies & cream is 110 calories for 24 grams of protein and less than one gram of sugar. I mix it with 6 ounces of Ripple Milk (a pea protein milk plain unsweetened) that adds 6 grams of protein and about 50 calories no sugar. I mix a little water usually 2 ounces. It can spoon mix but I use a little milk frother I got for $11. So it’s 160 calories, 30 grams of protein and less than one gram sugar for cookies and cream. It makes a good breakfast. They have other flavors, I’d like to try white chocolate peppermint. They also have cake pop, chocolate cupcake and some others. This is their web site for information. Though I bought from vitacost because they have extra savings. And if you sign up they sometimes send email coupons. The powder comes out more affordable than RTD protein. Even adding the Ripple milk. https://pescience.com/ I also found two other things. a RTD protein called Koia it’s a plant based protein drink but tastes good. Particularly the cinnamon horchata flavor. It’s almond milk and plant proteins. Is 18 grams protein in 12 oz. a little more sugar but 4 grams. Didn’t upset my stomach. I just wish it was a bit more reasonably priced. I managed to find coupons and a sale price in target. But it’s good for a treat and still get protein. the other is skyr Icelandic yogurt. It’s not cheap. But it’s healthy. 5.3oz of plain is only 3 grams of sugar, 120 calories but 17 grams of protein. I just wish I could have nature Nate’s organic honey or even Manuka honey (if I could afford it) i hope this is a little helpful to someone. I tried to make protein ice pops with the protein powder, yogurt and ripple milk. I didn’t taste it yet through ... this is the little blender. I spoon mixed it and then finished blending with this. I got it for my mom to froth her milk for her tea. But tried it out in the protein shake. https://www.amazon.com/Zulay-Milk-Frother-Handheld-Operated/dp/B074ZL35DH/ref=pd_bxgy_79_img_3/145-9322182-5156025?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B074ZL35DH&pd_rd_r=9a08ac3e-9b96-11e9-a63e-3ffd9178b097&pd_rd_w=DHbOE&pd_rd_wg=lxSwK&pf_rd_p=a2006322-0bc0-4db9-a08e-d168c18ce6f0&pf_rd_r=27R5Q0P0JYPH4QT8N3TV&psc=1&refRID=27R5Q0P0JYPH4QT8N3TV -

Some of the things I've had are Oikos Triple Zero yogurt, hummus, ricotta bake, black beans with taco seasoning and cheese, beef barley soup that's been run through the blender, mashed up tuna salad, and bananas. Haven't done much other cooking yet. Sent from my SM-G970U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
Cl@ireyBearry replied to Alvinchicago's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hope things get better for you. The changes I have made in my eating habits have been the simplest daily decisions of my life. It is not EASY, but this surgery saved my life. Emotionally, physically, mentally, I can have a positive relationship with food and water- see it as fuel for my body to carry me to do the good wonderful work I want to do in my life. Simply sitting comfortably in a chair now, only 4 months out and 57 lbs down. Running after my nieces who are my favorite people, having the energy to play, being able to get down on the floor and crawl around, walking my dogs again, putting on makeup, feeling like a person in the world. Yes, surgery isn’t the solution, but if I knew how to do it and it had worked with whatever diets I tried before I wouldn’t have gotten to 297 lbs. I really hope you can find support with meals you enjoy, chocolate protein shakes that taste like milkshakes!!! Try the vitamin patches!! No yucky pills!! Get support from your loved ones.... I can’t imagine they would rather judge you and have you feel embarrassed, when they could support you and watch your health improve. It is so much more embarrassing for me to not fit in a booth, or get out of breath, or get dirty looks in fast food places or restaurants- the dirty looks of a fat shaming society. I’d much rather take out my protein bar, order a salad and eat half?! (Yes to leftovers!!) and I get to eat 6 times a day!!! I add sugar free strawberry topping to the plain Greek yogurt and all of the sudden I’ve got STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE!! I love shrimp, and it’s less expensive now because I only need 4-5 to fill me up! Cheese sticks wrapped in honey ham lunch meat are my go-to! I don’t always follow the 20-20-20 rule. But all I can do is do my best! And I know I would rather eat cottage cheese with mandarin oranges every day, than struggle to clip my own toenails. To not have my seatbelt lock every time I move because it’s not as stretched out. I can use armrests on chairs not, and not have to look for the bench. My feet don’t constantly hurt dragging around 60 extra pounds! There are so many ways to individualize this new eating lifestyle to fit YOU! And I believe in you! -

Not sure how long you are between purée and soft food or what your dr calls the difference but mine never did a purée phase. Today is the first day I haven’t had cottage cheese in a few weeks. Tuna salad(basically with a tiny bit of relish and lite mayo) at lunch, eggs with cheese in the am, and I try to make fish or shredded meat for dinner that everyone can eat but some days I just send them for pizza and I have tuna again or leftovers. Canned green Beans and cauliflower and broccoli even if it is just a bite. I like veggies more than meat so I have to get them in after my Protein. I did bean Soup with ham. I have the stuff to do the ricotta bake but it just doesn’t appeal to me in the heat. And I only got the cues twice on liquids. Once very early with yogurt when I ate too quickly. The other with grits and I thought I was dying. I had to go lie down🤦♀️😕 I’ve not made that error since. -
Ok this is key... Sneak in string cheese, protein chips ir puffs, yogurt cups, hummus, jello cups, pudding, root beer water enhancer (any water enhancer really) Or eat right before you go! Works everytime...

I've always done Centrum (or the generic equivalent) and haven't had any issues. Lots of WLS patients take them. As long as a vitamin meets the ASBMS (American Society of Bariatric & Metabolic Surgeons) requirements, it should be fine. for calcium citrate, I have three ways I take it --- Upcal D (a powder which I mix into things like yogurt), generic calcium citrate tablets from Walgreens or CVS, and Bariatric Advantage calcium chews which are great for traveling or for when you're out and about and not near your regular calcium stash (I always keep a few of them in my purse for that reason).

Peanut Butter Has Ruined My Life
Frustr8 replied to wallpapermusic's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
And it turned out to be one of the things Precious Pouch refuses to continance. But I have not given up hope, just this week she conceded to allow Greek Yogurt after 10 months of vehement refusal. So perhaps banana and Peanut Butter will return. Before my surgery Greek Yogurt, Cottage Cheese, Peanut Butter, the Good Kind, I live near Columbus Ohio, the home of Krema P. Butter, so fresh it separates into oil and solids, learned as a Small Frustr8 to screw on the lid tightly, and store it up side down. And when it is time to eat some , turn it upward, stir it with your table knife, spread it on good homemade whole wheat 🍞 bread, nothing better unless you slice bananas on it! Yum Yum to infinity and beyond! And I was an EXCELLENT BREAD MAKER if I do say so, one sandwich of that filled me well enough I didn't munch between meals. Don't know if my bossy little turkey- egg of gastric Flesh will let those days EVER to RETURN? But as the old song goes, and YES I AM OLD " Ah Yes, I remember it well!" -
Transitioning to soft foods
kitty0422 replied to kitty0422's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m so afraid of trying new foods that I’m eating just yogurt, mashed potatoes and pudding. -
I mostly eat the same things for breakfast and lunch B: either Quark (a yogurt-consistency cheese) or Oikos Triple 0 Greek Yogurt with 1/4 - 1/2 c. frozen blueberries (I eat it at work, so the bb defrost just a bit on the drive in so they're not SOOO frozen) L: eggface's ricotta bake with spinach baked in. I usually make a double recipe, cook it in a mini loaf pan that makes 8 mini loaves. Keep 4 in my fridge, freeze 4. Sometimes I'll have leftovers for lunch, but typically its ricotta bake. Snacks - the Sargento nut/cheese packs, cheese slices, almonds, parm chips with guac or hummus (sometimes I'll have this for lunch as well)

Fruit juice-really the enemy?
Sosewsue61 replied to Butterfly#7's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
What protein are you consuming at this point - Greek yogurt, shakes, bone broth, etc? I would dilute that one serving - which a juice serving is 4oz - with water and ice. The culprit is the acid in juice - you are healing and acid at this point is not good. Plus nutritionally it doesn't have fiber and raises blood sugar immediately, then can send you crashing really fast. If you think you need 'something' puree a couple strawberries or cantaloupe and add protein powder and ice. -
I can tolerate anything – I do a combination of clean foods (I meal prep) and little to no prep foods. To save money, freeze leftovers in small batches for convenience meals later. I meal prep proteins. I can refrigerate some and freeze the rest. I don’t eat the same things all week, I have items that are little to no prep on hand. (make sure any of my examples are on your plan) Breakfast: Mix up your veggie cups with other items, Dannon lite n fit Greek yogurt, For out the door convenience in the morning – Protein iced mocha shake – (Instant decal coffee, sugar free chocolate syrup and vanilla protein shake and ice) fried egg and precooked jimmy dean turkey sausage links. Lunch: With what ever you are meal prepping for lunch – Keep flavored tuna pouches, I make chicken salad (Canned chicken, chopped celery, onion, apple and dried cranberries and olive oil mayo) hard boiled eggs bought in a bag in the deli section. I can make deviled eggs or egg salad. - I eat veggie trays and strawberries dipped in sugar free cholate syrup for a snack Dinner I have my prepped dinners- my little to no prep is precooked john soles beef or chicken meat from frozen section – Its Easy to chop and Sautee my green red peppers and onions add fajita seasoning. (They also sell frozen peppers and onions) Precooked chicken and frozen stir fry vegetables. Last night’s quick meal was ground turkey, canned deiced stewed tomatoes, deiced green peppers and onion, frozen garlic roasted riced cauliflower and four cheese spaghetti sauce, I log and keep within my calories and macros. Breakfast is a tough one to prep. It just doesn't taste the same reheated or will have a nauseating smell when reheated. I usually do a protein shake, cream of wheat or Greek yogurt if I can't cook breakfast every day.

Hey, Marine--we haven't heard from you in a while! I was thinking of writing so see how you are doing. As for dumping--I've had four or five incidents, the most recent earlier this week. In one case I know what the culprit was (a refreshing low-sugar frozen yogurt), but otherwise I have no idea what caused them. And yes, the do indeed suck. -
Vegetarians(or Vegans!)
notmyname replied to despacit0w0's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a pescatarian, but mostly eat vegetarian. Some of my veggie go-tos are (I eat far too much cheese, which may not work for you with the autoimmune - not sure): greek yogurt Quark (its a cheese that is yogurt consistency - but thinner than greek yogurt) I almost always have quark with frozen blueberries for breakfast - by the time i get to work, the bb are still a little frozen, but not hard) cottage cheese (there is one that is higher protein) My favorite lunch is ricotta bake (google "Eggface ricotta bake") - I always add some sauteed spinach. I make a double batch and cook them in a mini loaf pan (makes 8 mini loaves) - freeze half of them. beans/lentils (although not a lot of protein here) tofu - I either buy extra firm, drain it, and bake it or buy the baked tofu from places like trader joe's eggs - mostly scrambled Veggie sausage (I like morninstar farms) egg salad (2 eggs, 1 TBL greek yog, 1 TBL may) Veggie burgers (look at the protein content, some are low protein/high carb) Snacks almonds Sargento nut snack packs cheese fairlife milk -
Is this normal? 2 Days Post Op
CashmereAndBones posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, Yesterday I got my surgery and was in the hospital all day yesterday and most of today. I just got home today. I've been burping but they seem to get getting stuck and not forming a full burp. I'm also so tired all the time, maybe it's because I didn't sleep the day before my surgery and the day of my surgery I was woken every 2 hours to walk. I drank 7 oz of water and 1 oz of pedialite, had half an oz of cottage cheese, 1 1/2 oz lowfat yogurt and I'm sipping my Premier Protein throughout the day. I am so full but I know I need to try to get liquids in. Is this good for now? I plan on eating an egg later. I'm so scared life will never go back to normal. -
