    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

I'm at the end of day 4 and feeling 100% on each day before. The gas is the biggest pain/annoyance. But being less tired I am as others have said walking walking walking and sip sip sipping the water. The gas is slowly coming out. On creamy liquids today more protein has helped a lot with energy. Had a bit of a scary thing happen last night. Kept waking with terrible headache In hospital had O2 at night due to not breathing well (abdominal gas) anyways woke, killer headache and then started dry reaching felt so sick went on 10mins now thing it was my bowels shifting as had a BM the next morning. But was scary and hurt tears were streaming involuntary down my face, slept up in a couch once I stopped wrenching. Had a coma like sleep then BM and was fine had a few BM's sorry if this is so TMI for some but may interest others and I didn't understand what the hell was happening.

    Bm Question

The first time I went was about 4 days post op I had diarrea the first 2 weeks then the 3 week I didn't go at all. Then I was so constipated I though I was have to go to the ER to get it removed I know to much TMI but it was so bad I never felt like that ever. I took mirax and senokot still nothing the next morning my husband made me a cup of decaf coffee and that did it!!!! I never want to feel that way again. So I take senokot every other day and that seem to be working.

    Hi, Im New Here!:))

Hi everyone. What a great place to come to share stories and get advice. I am one week 3 days post op. I have a question for everyone. I had nausea really bad the first few days. I mean, I couldn't even drink 15ml of liquid lortab that they were trying to give me for pain. I'd gag so hard and had the dry heaves. I know, TMI. But it was horrible. Now, I don't have the nausea as much, but as soon as I put anything in my mouth, which is liquids now, or pudding, etc., I get really nauseated. Has anyone experienced this? I called the nurse and should be getting a call back soon.

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Hi everyone! Long time no see sorry lol I wanted to say hi to Lila & congrats on the recovery so far! Good luck to all of you on pre-op diets! I'm currently fluctuating up to TEN kgs depending on whose scales I use, my lowest is 126, my highest is around 132.5 or 144! Incredibly frustrating since all three of those numbers are from medical grade scales! I just had my implanon removed yesterday so hopefully the hormonal fluctuations will stop- I'm expecting to drop 10 kgs or so in the next month just from that! I also got my copper (non-hormonal) IUD in yesterday, and have to admit it did hurt ALOT but only for about 60 secs then only mild cramping in the afternoon and fine now! Best decision ever, so far the nurses were so lovely, held my hands, and I have to admit (TMI) that the obgyn was lucky my legs were strapped down or he probably would have got a decent kick to the chops lol Anyway, I have another app with my surgeon on 8th and hoping to get the go-ahead and date for next year, but honestly may just have to be patient and keep trucking. We're discussing trying the new endo-barrier in the meantime, but id be the first for my surgeon so well just continue to consider options... But hey, maybe is get a discount for being the guinea pig lol!!! Peace and safe travels!
  5. I'm doing alright but Today was a tough day. I got into it with my husband who was threatening me about cutting me off our insurance so I can't get surgery. He's a spiteful jerk. Sorry for the TMI but it sucks having to deal with the crap. Anywho I wasn't able to find out my date because the one who schedules was out but I do find out on Nov 2 so I'm excited! I pray everything goes good with the insurance and I get approved for the end of dec. Did you get your surgery done yet?
  6. This may be too much information, but I've noticed that my BMs are considerably smellier than they were pre-surgery, not that it ever smelled like roses. Is this due to the surgery, or is it because of all the protein I'm taking in?
  7. HI! I am responding to this because I was just at the DR. 20 minutes ago for the same thing!. I was WAY constipated ( I am 3 1/2 weeks PO) and it was AWFUL. I drink my 64 oz of water and my Dr. told me to take 25-35 g of fiber a day ie. Metimuci or Citracil, take 1 and 1/2 tbs daily of Miralax AS WELL AS a dose of Senakot. I thought that was alot!!! But she said that is ok and I should have BM every day because the longer it sits the water is sucked out of the stool and you get more constipated. Sorry TMI but thats what she said.
  8. This might be TMI but if I had known that just 60 pounds would make that big of a difference between good sex and hot damn great sex then I would have this sooner....Lol. I'm just saying...dont judge me. Lol

  9. Hi Rox! It's me in Bako:) I'm still super gassy, and my BM's are liquidy and dark too. There is no such thing as TMI on here! We need the honesty and the support! I'm bloated too. Wonder when that will all get better?

    Nsv! Sorta

It is fun to be able to buy sexy bras that actually fit. However, I do have to stuff my breasts in them and rearrange some of the sking (sorry TMI). I do buy my bras from VS.
  11. Does anyone else feel their stomach & tolerance for food are very different during your periods. Feeling a bit nauseous.....Ugh. A month sleeved..
  12. I've been MIA on VST lately. It's just kind of how it is once you're so far out from surgery! I'm seventeen weeks and feeling pretty good. Here's the reality (for me) of being pregnant with the sleeve: 1) My diet is seriously disrupted. Meat makes me sick. Dairy makes me sick. What does that leave me to eat? Eggs. Brothy soups. Protein shakes (already causes a little nausea but not too bad). And the big baddie: carbs. Lots and lots and lots of carbs. I am not a carb avoider - I eat a very well balanced diet normally. But for the past twelve weeks just about the only thing I can hold down are sandwiches...and sweets. I normally avoid sweets, not because I don't want them but because they're not as appealing as they used to be. That changed with pregnancy. Since eggs are "safe" I've been eating lots of egg salad, fried egg sandwiches and homemade egg and cheese McMuffins. I cannot drink any coffee, even decaf, because it makes me incredibly sick. This makes me very sad and probably a little more irritable than I'd normally be. 2) My capacity is about double what it used to be. What does that really mean, though? I've had a very small capacity the whole time I've been sleeved. So for lunch today, I ordered salad made with vermicelli, carrots, cucumbers and a oil/vinegar dressing (got about 1/2 cup) and borscht (got about 1 cup). I was able to eat less than 1/4 of the salad and about 3/4 of the soup. Total intake: less than one cup of food, and part of it pasta, which is still an issue for me. But unlike six months ago, I can now eat an entire egg salad or sandwich. Before, I could only eat a whole sandwich if it was grilled cheese on super thin bread. 3) It is hard to get on the scale and gain weight, even if you're doing it "for a good reason." And it's even harder to see that you're gaining more rapidly than you'd hoped. Darn those hormones I was on for months! I'm seventeen weeks and up roughly fifteen pounds. It's more than I'd want to gain, HOWEVER, I can still wear my size six skinny jeans buttoned up under my belly. I'm still a size small in maternity clothes and I'm still able to wear a lot of my pre-pregnancy shirts, they just look different with a bump under them. So while I'm mentally struggling with the gain, and while I wish I had gained about half what I've actually gained, I'm not the chubby girl I feel like I am some days! All of that said, I have gained only two pounds in the last five weeks, and I hope to keep on at this slower pace but it's really out of my control. I have to eat and now isn't the time to try and diet, because the baby comes first. I did want to share that it's definitely more of a mental struggle than I expected, though. 4) I don't care if it's TMI, but I'm so happy to have boobs again! HA! That's a perk I'd been missing for sure. I joke that half of the fifteen pounds I gained are in my chest and upper arms. I'm glad to be back in Bishkek, honestly. I was in the states for seven weeks and was guilty of using convenience to eat, especially when I was feeling so sick with morning sickness. I can't even buy a decent loaf of bread here: I make all of my bread, English muffins, etc. from scratch. So I know I cut down a bit on the junky stuff by doing that. And produce is CHEAP here and good quality, all local stuff. So it's nice to spend $20 for 15 pounds of produce, instead of paying $2.50 for one bell pepper! My diet has improved since being home and making everything myself again, which is possibly related to the fact that I've been home a few weeks and haven't really packed on pounds. Something to consider. In any case, I'm comfortable, baby is doing well and while I've never been a glowing, cheerful pregnant woman I'm doing well and feel pretty good overall. I'm scheduling an ultrasound for sometime between 19-20 weeks to make sure everything is okay and to hopefully get a peek at gender. Hope everyone else is doing well! ~Cheri
  13. I feel the same way!! I am 16 days out. The urge...Please send me a message if you find any info on what to do. My nurse said to talk milk of magnesia, but I dont want to have to take it just to have a bowel movement. Sorry...TMI

    Constipation?

I'm preop and I wanted to go on the liquid diet that I will be on 2 weeks before my surgery. I stayed on it for a full week, WOW! It was so painful, I didn't go for 5 days!!! It was bad!! I have had 3 children and all three were easier than that! I had to use suppositories, sorry TMI!!! So my recommendation is to have all of those thing on hand, when I do it before my surgery I will take maralax everyday! I drink over 100 oz of water everyday day and that didn't even help!! I hope it's easier next time! I meet my Surgeon this Thursday!! Yay!!!
  15. I'm having it as well. My other banded friends seem to think that it's gas, but when I think gas I think bubbles and bloating, discomfort - not actual pain. TMI, but I haven't had a BM since Thursday night (surgery was on Friday morning) and I'm thinking that maybe that could be it. I've taken a stool softener laxative, but nothing. I'm not too concerned since my diet is all liquid. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using LapBandTalk
  16. At my highest I was 286, at surgery(3/2010) I was 252. My last fill was 11/ 2010. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1/ 2011 so no fill allowed while going through surgery & chemo(caught early, no spread, I'm fine). Weight went back up to 243 during treatment thanks to steriods, but took it off within three months of my last chemo treatment, which is when I started taking Arimidex(breast cancer preventative med). Arimidex plus menopause for most women means there's that last 10 pounds that won't budge. For me it seems like an endless weight circle of 217-223. Complicating and causing me more than a little concern is the, for lack of a better word, "rules" my seems to have imposed: *Can't eat before 10am; thankfully, coffee goes down okay. *Can't get Breakfast down(1/4c oatmeal, 1/4c egg sub, 2 slices turkey bacon or yogurt and fruit) in under 45 minutes. *Can't be wearing a bra or anything remotely fitted around my waist - food will not go down. *Can't sit down to eat - three bites and I'm backlogged. *Attempt to sit down to dinner - see above - then run to the bathroom, throw up food plus a nasty looking mucus ball(TMI-I know!) Then - surprise! I can eat..as long as I stand up to do it. *Hungry all the time - and it's not in my head - my stomach growls so loudly my co-workers crack up in meetings. *Obsessed w/chocolate - never was before. It's either because it will go down and gives me instant(temporary) energy or because if the serotonin release. *Vomitting can be triggered by something as small as the thin slice of a radish or a 1/4 tsp size piece of chicken and can go on for hours. *After throwing up, the area around my port seems to puff up. Despite having my haital hernia fixed a surgery, I feel like I have acid reflux. I dread going back to my WLS and hearing that I just didn't try hard enough. Yet when I list it all, it does seem like there's something more going on here and it's a bit ridiculous for me to continue to suffer. Anyone been in a similar situation?
  17. A high protein diet can be hard on the kidneys. Check with your doctor. I don't have any symptoms except for a very high ammonia content in my urine. Sorry if TMI, but it's something to be aware of.

It's Deja Vu All Over Again!

Still hanging at the 216-224 range. It's gotten to the point that I have "rules" that are so bizarre that my husband is pushing me to see my WLS. I don't want to go back for fear I'm going to hear it's my fault I haven't lost more... Jill's Rules - not really mine, what my body is dictating: *Can't eat before 10am; thankfully, coffee goes down okay. When I list it all, it does seem a bit ridiculous for me to continue to suffer. I guess I should just be glad that I'm no longer 286 pounds. Healthier with well-controlled blood glucose, but still the biggest gal in the room. Still not taken seriously or talked down to because I'm plus sized. I suppose it's time I just suck it up and accept that this is as good as it's going to get.

    Getting Hit On After Surgery

Hmm. What an interesting topic! I think that you should ask him when you go out (if you do). "So, what made you ask me out after you have known me all this time..." Maybe leave the weight out of it and see what he says. I think that there have been great points above about this topic. I also have not dated men that are morbidly obese. I know it is a double standard and I don't know maybe if I really liked the person I would have gone out with him. Married now and my hubby has a bit of a belly but great arms and butt;). TMI I know. Gotta have some muscle though, you know? I don't think you should hold this against him. Go out and see what happens if you have a mind to. Like it was brought up before, maybe you are smiling more. Maybe you are putting yourself out there now in a way you were not before. Best of luck and go rock that sleeve;). Dee

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Yippee! I made it to my 4 week surgiversary! Hard to believe that 4 weeks ago right now I was lying in that pre-op bed waiting for my i.v. to be started. It has been one hell of a rough month to say the least. I finally feel like I am on the road to getting back to my normal self although still having episodes of shakiness (like right now), puking, and acid reflux. Saturday was probably my best day thus far. Hosted my twin daughters' bday party, my other daughter had a sleepover, and TMI warning: had sex again for the first time! The hubby says that skinny sex is better! Ha! Ha! I go for my one month post-op on Wednesday and then I think I am cleared for solids. I am ready but not so much. I am so bored with my mushies but scared of the unknown. Supposed to go camping with family and friends this weekend but still on the fence about that one because I am not sure I am ready to be around all the yummy camp food, s'mores, and beer. Any tips for me on camp friendly food for sleevers? OK, need to get going with my day now. I get to go pick up my new set of SMALLER scrubs for work as I am returning to my first shift at work (ER nurse) on the 27th. My 3X scrub top is too big now. Yay!
  23. I was just banded on Oct 12 - and had a rough first 2 days- probably TMI..but I had bouts of naseau and gagging.. although I had nothing to come up. Needless to say it was quite painful!! But I am now sipping my liquids, drinking my jello, excited about pudding haha.. Curious as to what everyone lost in their first month- if you followed the liquids..
  24. I have seen a wide variation of posts on this topic, from not having a period at all, to having very heavy periods. I was curious though if anyone has had a similar experience to me. I have been on my period on and off for the entire 3 months since I've had my surgery. At first it seemed like I was just getting it more often, but now it will start at the drop of a hat. I have just started seeing a new guy, and would love for things to progress in that department at a normal rate, but I'm kind of terrified that it will start up, since it does any time my hormones seem to get going. I knew hormones going wacky is normal, but this is really getting stressful. I started the Nuvaring today, which has been prescribed to me for the last couple months, but I'd been afraid to take it. I'm hoping that might have an effect. At this point I am even willing to go through a stall if it puts me on one just so that I can have a few weeks off! I have an appointment with my gynecologist in a few weeks, and I have my 3 month follow up next week so I will ask my surgeon, but I was hoping maybe anyone had a little insight on it or just to know whether anyone else is having this issue.
