  1. Sorry for the delay in response. I certainly hope that your surgery went well. Dr. Fox was an excellent surgeon and has great aftercare. As long as you follow what you are supposed to do you should not have any complications. I haven't had any issues physically with the band. The only thing that I have had problems with is in the morning I have to drink something hot before I eat because I feel super restricted during that time. I have finally given up all bread and pastas and Dr. Fox will stay on you regarding those. I like hime because he is very honest and doesn't baby like some other surgeons I know. He has stayed on me with my weight loss. Some other things he tells you to stay away from is cheese. I am here if you have any questions or need to talk. I am so happy I had the surgery. I am 16 months post op and I have lost 45 lbs which is my halfway goal. It is a slow process but that is the way it should be. Let me know how things went! And Congrats!!!!

  2. I am excited for you! I am humbled that I am an inspiration because I really just want to get to healthy weight. You will be amazed at how the world around will change when your body changes. The best advice that I can give is NEVER doubt your ability to succeed with the LAP-BAND?. Tell yourself you will succeed and this is not like anything else you have ever done to try to lose weight. Please keep in touch...anything at all! I will keep you updated too :)

  4. WOW, so glad to hear you are doing well honey...I now have 6cc in me and feeling ok but notice eating less and less but the weight is coming off and boy does it feel great....Although I have one friend well so called friend who is I think a little jealous I don'[t think that is much of a friend she is not supportive of this at all towards me and is jabbing me with smartass comments....I promise to try to keep posting I am so addicted to Facebook damn games on there if you are on look me up Stacey Birch Chaney...Smooches honey and so glad you are doing better.

  5. I'm doing great. It's as if I never had surgery. The weight loss has stopped though and I am falling back to old habits. Need that fill soon :)

    How are you doing?

  6. How exciting to see someone who shares the same day of the surgery! My husband also has always been good with staying in shape too. He actually goes to the gym almost daily. We went thru 9mo with out the gym and he gained some weight but nothing compared to mine. I've always felt big even when I was a senior in high school but now looking back I would do anything to be that size again! Ive primarily gained my weight after I had a full hysterectomy 2 yrs ago and its been a struggle ever since. Not looking forward to the preop diet either but I guess it will help the shockness that happens at first from eating food to liquids. My step mom had this surgery and stated after 4th or 5th day she started eating mushy foods. She said that every body is different and you just have to do what your body tells you. I figured the longest I can follow the diet they have as a guide the more I would loose. Talk to you soon! :rolleyes2:

  7. Right now I have the "too good to be true" feeling going on as well. My insurance through my employer will not cover WLS, so I got creative and picked up my hubby's insurance in January. I am fulfilling the 6 month waiting period right now, and as I said, I am struggling to make any progress with losing weight before surgery. I compare myself to others and am reading how a lot of people lost 30-50 lbs before surgery on their own. I'm just not able to get it going right now. I think it is a psychological block

You are truly an inspiration. Congrats on a job well done. Thank you so much for taking the time to message me. :)

  8. I try to get to the gym at least 3x a week and i lift free weights at home. I also hit the speed bag and heavy bag on the days that i dont do cardio at the gym. I jog 3 miles when i go to the gym.

  9. Hi Lety! 20 lbs in 6 weeks is great! My tips for you is....take a pix of yourself every 10 lbs at loss, in the same outfit! For my before pix...I used a shirt and shorts that were to small on me....because I wanted to them get loose....then to the point where they just fell off of me! Find a workout that you love doing and do it!!! Mine is Jazzercise, its a GREAT TOTAL body workout and its so much fun! I do that 5 to 6 times per week. When eating....think about how little you can eat...vs. how much food can you get down....if you think like that, you'll never lose all your weight! Stay positive, some months you might lose 6 to 8 lbs....some months you might not lose any...it's very normal!

I wish you the best of luck! Keep in touch and let me know how your doing! =)

  10. Congrats on your surgery Thursday, may both of our surgeries go well!

I am getting a bit nervous right now. I have researched this, attended support meetings, and am positive in my decision to have the band.......But now I am having last minute jitters.

I am a volume eater and I can't seem to get over that last hurdle in my head about never going to receive comfort from eating giant volumes of good food. I know that overeating is bad, but what do I replace it with now?

I know that these last minute doubts will go away. I know that I need the band to help me lose weight and get off of all the medication that I have recently been put on to control my diabetes and high blood pressure.

I am 38 and married with two little boys (1 & 4). We live over here in Rio Rancho, New Meixco.

Whoo - I feel better just venting that! I would also love to share this journey with you. You take care and please let me know how you are doing!

  12. Hi Mary, My name is Lynn and I was banded January 31st, 2010. I had my first fill 10 days ago and am having difficulty drinking all the water and keeping the food down. Seems to be too much saliva. How are you doing with the food. Do you have any suggestions for me. I'm really excited about loosing the weight. I am much older, 63, but young at heart.

  13. See!! I told you!! Congrats on losing again, that's so great! I'm okay, still trying to get into a routine of doing weights and resistance to tighten up some of this flappy fat on my arms and tummy lol. Hope all is going well with you!

  14. Thankfully enough it's just Nausea and with no vomiting. It really gets worse when I meet with another doctor. Always the thought of will I mess up and this doctor not reccomend the surgery. But so far I have been really complimented on my goals and everything I am doing for myself. I get a lot of workouts in during the week. Usually a mile on the treadmill, and 5 miles on the cycle. Then my rounds on the weights. I am really working on the midsection and the glutes. I do not want loose skin after loosing weight. Biggest fear after the band not working at all of course. I never got sore after a workout maybe because I chase after 2 little ones and am constantly cleaning house. Which by the way I was looking up on the internet did you know doing normal housework can burn up to 199 calories per hour. Sometimes more if it's a strainous job.

  15. Yes! I am pretty happy with the results, Love my band. Your weight loss is pretty awesome as well, keep up the great work.

  16. We will do great! I am so glad I don't have to do that dreaded liquid diet. My office doesn't require it. They just require you to lose a 5% body weight prior to surgery. Keep me posted on how your doing and I will do the same!

  17. hey! just saw your message about the arms...i didnt do anything special. in fact i need to work on them more. they are flabby but you cant tell just by looking at them from the side...i have to hold them out like a hug and then you can see the small bat wing...lol. but they have gotten better...i sit at my desk with these 3 lb weights and do my arm exercises...that's about all i do really...oh and when i walk sometimes I walk with weights and swing my arms really high.

  18. wow 14 lbs. away from your goal weight! That's awesome!

  19. My “wish list” keeps getting longer. I rearrange the list all the time so that each goal/objective is listed in the order it will be achieved! I have had several surgeries, but those 5 minutes between being wheeled away from pre-op & being asked to take deep breaths & count backwards always feel like the longest minutes of my life. I immediately start praying & telling God that I'm not ready to come home yet. I reached my max weight of 360lbs in 5/07, when my ex-husband and I separated. I lost 100lbs within a few months, thanks to a diet of Jack Daniels (admittedly, not the healthiest way to lose weight). After my "divorce diet" I began gaining weight almost immediately, even though I was eating healthy (which my Dr. attributed to PCOS). Once I reached 325lbs I decided it was time to do something about my weight, only this time I want to do it the right way. I finally feel like I am at a point in my life where I am ready to begin this journey! So, what grade do you teach?

  20. Hi Leigha

Thanks for checking on me. I have been busy and haven't made time to get online the past few weeks. Also I kinda had a standstill for a couple of weeks and I was a little embarrassed I guess to check in and update my progress. I am about 4.5 weeks out and havent had much restriction the past couple of weeks. However, I have really been able to stay on track with healthy eating and exercising at least 5 days a week. I am down a total of 33 lbs since the pre-op diet period, and down 15 lbs since surgery day. So I feel good and will be having my first fill Monday morning. I had to readjust my expectations, because they were unrealistic with what I should lose initially.. but I am pleased with my progress so far. I think in the back of my mind I still fear that it will be like prior diets and I will fall off of the bandwagon and gain it back, but I am determined to prevent that from happening.

Thanks again for checking on my progress. I hope all is well with you!

    Christopher

  21. So I get my fill today so depressing to learn I gained 2lbs and according to Dr. Office scale only lost 9lbs. So far I have a total of 4.5 cc's in my band. He wants me to wait 3months for fill #3 no way I said so he said two months. I said ok schedule it but Im sure Ill be back in 1month. My Dr. is cool but way to conservative. My sister was banded in Texas and 5cc was put in her band at the time of banding.

  22. I just saw your weight loss ticker! You are doing incredibly great!!! Keep up the good work. :)

  23. Hi - had a bad fitted on 13th Feb'11 but i've lost no weight. I had my 3rd fill two weeks ago and am now at 6.7ml. I know everyone is different but shouldn't I have lost some weight by now? I eat sensibly and exercise sometimes but to no avail - help.

  24. Nope, we don't allow smoking in our house. I don't think I've even been around anyone smoking lately. I work at a hospital, so no smoking allowed there. It must be a lab error. My doctor was confused, too. It said "positive" then the words "canceled due to duplicate." He said he didn't know what that meant, there wasn't another nicotine test in the results that would be the "duplicate." I see the surgeon Thurs. Guess i will find out then. I'm not going to worry about it cuz I know it's a false-positive. How are you doing? I bet you are just in a tiny stall & the weight will start going down again very soon! It can't do anything else, right? My gosh! You're only drinking milk! I started my liquid diet today, got tired of being tempted with food and just decided to start....so far so good!

  25. GOOD LUCK!!! Just remember to FOLLOW THE PLAN!!! I have been off for a week have have gained close to 10 lbs back!! JUST WATCH YOUR EATING AND REST :)
