Hi everyone, glad to see posts! Nicole- I didn't mean you should be hard on yourself, just not take a total break. Like for me, I have 1 day a week that I totally "cheat" on- for me that means lots of ice cream. Lots. So I do it once a week instead of every day like it was, and it's easier to stick with it during the week. I don't beat myself up though if I have little slips during the week or don't exercise every day....I am learning to be good to myself. Meredith- yay for you for passing by Auntie Ann's! I too would take any mall excursion as an excuse to indulge- pretzels, Orange Julius, etc. That is a HUGE nsv! Yep, you'll have to get into a routine with eating for sure- it is easy to do a Protein drink in the AM, especially now that I really am tighter in the morning! And it starts my day with a good boost of protein. Chrissy- good for you being super busy! I'm glad the job is going well. A few bad eats will not undo all the work we've done, and life will happen after all! Good for you getting back to the gym. Lady Bandido- nice to see you! I think you're right, challenges for sure. Maybe you could schedule your fill earlier this month so if you have issues you can get it resolved before you go on vacation- if you feel like you're hungry and need it. As for me, this last fill really has me tight! Not too tight, I think, I still drink just fine and eat if I'm really mindful- which I should be. I am taking way too big of bites, and not chewing enough, which had me stuck badly at a restaurant with the family on Friday night, and then badly stuck again yesterday at dinner. And I WAY overindulged in ice cream yesterday and still feel sick, didn't sleep well at all, feel sick to my stomach today. I can't workout at lunch today as my car is in the shop, so I can't get to the Y. Tomorrow our company is doing a walk for 9/11, a 5 k, so I'll get that in at least. So much stress, so many things to worry about- but I am still worth it, life is always going to have at least SOME stress, so I'm just going to suck it up and drive on, LOL. Everyone have a great day! Nicki

whew! What a Saturday...busy busy. Hi everyone! Well...I've decided that I am definitely at restriction. Just made taco salads for everyone for dinner. I measured out a 1/2 cup of the beef mixture. Added a tbsp of salsa, tbsp of sour cream, tbsp of sliced black olives and just a few tortilla strips. I really didn't think it added up to that much but it must've been a full cup of food. Oh my word...I am absolutely stuffed!!!! But I'm also satisfied with that. 8 months ago...I would've gone back for another cup full. Today was 1/2 price day at Goodwill, and DH and I both had OT on our paychecks this week...so we went shopping. Well, I shopped more than he did. LOL. We went to two GW stores. I came home with three kitchen towels, two toys & a t-shirt for my son, a t-shirt, golf shirt and a pair of LEVI's for the DH, a pair of slacks, 4 skirts and 6 blouses (one of which can be worn like a jacket also). I didn't spend over $45!!! But the big "WAHOO!" NSV of this day is....all of the clothes I bought were 14's!!! You have no idea how long it has been since I've worn a freakin' size 14! I still have 17 pounds to go for my primary goal. I'm now thinking to myself that I might actually see a size 12 again!

Hello everyone!! Here is a quick update. So i had my 4th fill 2 wks ago I thought I had found my sweet spot. But once on solids there was no restriction. Maybe next time. I can pretty much eat anything still and I know I shouldn't but I have been in a slump and I have been eatting pretty bad. I feel guilt for a little while then tell myself tomorrow is a new day but then I eat bad stuff again! I am really craving chocolate, but then I got my period (haven't had in 10ths due to IUD) so maybe that explains the sudden cravings and bad eatting. Maybe I should try liquids to get the sugar out of my system again? Maybe I'm having sugar withdrawal & that is what is making it hard to not eat that cookie or order the greasy fried stuff. Any ideas?? Well there is a NSV out of this. Normally I would feel so guilt for eating something bad that I would get upset & depressed & then binge then start it all over again. This time I really don't feel any guilt & don't feel like bingeing. I just find myself eating something sweet every day. But yeah I'm not depressed about it. And I am still working out 3-4 days a week and drinking most of my water. Ttyl!!

    40yr olds...

I am 40 and am 5 weeks post-op. No complications so far (besides, like everyone else, trying to pass a stone where you shouldn't). Just had my 1 month post op appt earlier today and doc says I'm doing well, I feel excellent, energetic, and have had tons of NSV's in a really short period of time. To the original poster - my 1 week post op appt was a post surgery class that included about 10 other people that were also 1 week post op- I would say at least 7 or 8 out of those 11 people were 40+. I wouldn't worry too much about the age thing.

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Freja, don't be discouraged we all loose differently and don't cheat yourself of a great resource, this site. This site has be a wealth of knowledge for me. I've learned a lot to add to what I already knew. Are you taking any medications still? I found that my meds are hindering my weight loss. So I know how it feels and what can do to your feelings & mind to see others going through the same thing at the same time and lose double, triple & quadruple the amount of weight! I had to tell myself that this was not a raise. I did this for my health more so than pounds lost. It will not hurt me if it takes me 12 months to get to goal just as long as I get to goal eventually. Keep in mind your genetic profile plans a big part in how your body responds. I will say don't get caught up in the pounds.Measure yourself weekly as I do you will see great change. And be rewarded with a week or two worth of NSVs from the tape measure, yourself & whomever you may have to help measure you...my husband gives the best NSVs! He cheered me up & cheers me on when I was feeling like you breifly. I have been stalled for 4 weeks, scales say not much has changed but the measuring tape says much has! So embrace this moment learn & grow from it. Plus, I'm sure it has been said but keep in mind the bigger a person is the more they will lose fast. And a plus for you to think about and this excites me...slower you lose the better it is for your skin to recover! Less need for plastics....all for that! Stay positive, keep reading because you are not alone sister. And guess what I am a December sleever, we are all in this together! Stay up beat...lol I ain't hard to find I'm always posting something....do some reflecting so you can see the bigger picture. Best of luck. Many blessings. This is a new year, time for new thinking and a new you! Shape up girl & get with the program! XOXO ~CJ

So much for doing fine. I was going to try to not watch my carbs as strictly over the weekend and just eat "sensibly". Which started off alright. I even had what I thought was the most fantastic NSV of my life when on Friday my husband announced I no longer needed to lose any weight. I was flabbergasted to say the least! It was the first time since I ever knew him that he didn't think I needed to diet, and only the second person (besides my mother that is) to have ever told me that. And that was over 20 years ago! You would think I'd be over the moon, and I was all that night. I kept thinking how happy his comments had made me and how much weight seemed to be lifted off my shoulders to know that from now on any weight I continued to lose was truly being lost just for me and not for him or anyone else. But ofcourse it didn't last. The very next day he was all over my case about something I was eating that he thought I shouldn't be able to eat with the band saying he thought it showed I needed another fill. And to make matters worse he added that it disturbed him that I had "read so much" into his one innocent comment about my not needing to lose any more weight. It made me feel like he was having second thoughts about having ever said it. I don't know if it was because he was afraid I would take it as an excuse to stop watching what I ate and start gaining again or if he hadn't really meant it when he said it but I don't think he could have said anything more hurtful to me after having made me so happy. Then just to fullfill the prophecy I had to turn around and eat 2 slices of cherry pie that he bought at the grocery store, a king size candy bar and a snickers ice cream bar to boot. And if I get a chance I'm still of the mood to go out and get a chocolate frozen custard with chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in. All behind his back ofcourse and now I've gained half of what I lost back and am so disappointed in myself. Why do I let him get to me like this?

Wow! This is a long thread with a lot of information on it! First, Tami, I didn't get the picture of the horefrost before it went a way. I thought about sending a picture of my ex-daughter-in-law, since she fits the 2nd definition, but thought better of it. It is suppose to snow on Friday, maybe I can get out the camera then. I really want all you Southern gals to see how beautiful winter can be. Also, I can't believe how fast you can lose weight. Way to go! MimIn: Thanks for doing the challenge. Congratulatons on your NSV. I lost 4 pounds this week! Hallelaluja, the platueau has ended! I also exercised 4 times this week. Getting in snowshoeing, weight lifting, treadmill and exercise videos. Happy Birthday, BJean! As far as plastic surgery goes. I really want to get a tummy tuck and breast lift when I have reached goal weight and maintained for a while. I know I am old, but what the hell... I gave birth to 5 children and I'm tired of looking like it! I don't know if breast implants are affected by weight loss. I guess I would have to know more, becuase if you're still losing weight, you don't want your nice new boob job to sag. That would be very sad. I guess try and get as much info as you can and maybe another source besides the surgeon who will be doing the surgery. He may be good, but he sounds motivated by the almighty dollar! Someone asked about software for recording diet. I like dietpower.com. Everyone is doing so well. CONGRATULATIONS!

Here is a fun NSV for me. I got a call yesterday from a company I sent my resume to on Monday and have a job interview tomorrow! I have been out of work for 14 months and it's been 9 years since I was last on a job interview. I pulled out my old work suits and my DH fell over laughing. It looked like I was playing dress up in my dad's clothes. I did finally find a suit in my closet that fits, and the suit jacket is a size 12! I'm going out today to find a top for under the jacket and a necklace to jazz it up a bit. I just can't believe the size 12 jacket fit!!! Wish me luck!

NJ2NC....what a great NSV! I know its easy to get discouraged...I get there at least once a week myself. But we just take it one day at a time. Have you tried upping your cardio while maintaining your strength/weight training?

Okay gang, I'm falling back into some bad habits and I need to break them. My hubby bought a bunch of Easter candy on sale after Easter, so the Reese eggs have been calling my name... and I've been responding! I kept thinking, "I'm eating so much less of everything else, I can have some chocolate here and there." But this week, here and there turned into EVERY DAY! I wasn't gorging (like I might have before surgery) but I still certainly didn't need to eat candy every day. I signed back up for WW online and have been tracking my points... this was the real eye opener with the candy. I haven't been using too many points on real food, but the candy was putting me at/above my points daily limits! Time to cut that out! I really signed back up to WW so I could get my pre-surgery measurements. Here's my BIG NSV - I've lost 2 feet!!!! Based on my pre-surgery measurements and the ones I took this week, I've lost 24.5 inches overall! So I didn't set a goal with you all last time, but this time I need to! I would like to be at 204 by June 1, that's 10 pounds in 5 weeks. I also want to up my exercise to 5 days a week. I haven't been good with that, but I'm going to get better! My original goal when I had my surgery was to be in onederland by June 21, but I think I'll be past that (just not sure by how much.)

I forgot a few NSV's. So on my flight to CA I almost missed my flight I had to run from security all the way to the farthest gate (of course) last year I would have missed the flight but I was able to run the full length & made it!! I also did not need an extension seatbelt and I didn't get that "your too obese to fly" look. I enjoyed my flight for the first time in 7 yrs!!

Hello All, Sorry, it's been awhile but I've been trying to read and keep up as posts come through. I hit 1yr on 1/17 I saw my nutritionist on 1/22. She said from 'our' first appointment I'm down 58 pounds. Wow, what a thrill. I went in for a fill on Friday 1/25 and oddly enough my appetite is off the charts high.. then I realized duhh stop eating and drink water between meals.. boom! down to 188 I thought the scale was broke! lol I'm still running upto about 12-14 miles per week (Weather permitting) jogging all the way! So, yes Ladybandito, every pound means a whole lot... Congratulation to all the newly banded, Olympic Training, Getting off Meds and all the other NSV's ladies..the band work for us because we work for the band. My doctor was telling how people still just think the band is a magic solution and try to live life as they did before being banded. My co-workers all call me "Skinny-Minnie" now but 1 lady said (who knows about my band) "I see you running and in your gym clothes everyday and eating healthy", you are doing well it's all you and a tiny bit 'the band'. That was a wonderful thing to say cause it proves I've changed my life and I made the band work for me! Good Job ladies, we aren't perfect and we slip often but we try and we succeed and we get up when we fall....Newbies, you may fall on your journey just remember to get back up and you'll do great!! the hardest part isn't falling it's getting back up.. this group of ladies was always here with encouragement, suggestions and advise that was a valuable part of my journey! so newbies, stick with this supportive group..you'll never regret it.

I've had a lot of NSVs lately. I had hip replacement surgery on June 17 and I must admit being in the hospital and being treated like a "normal" weight person was nice, if you know what I mean. It only took one person to help me get out of bed, when the physical therapist came to help me walk I didn't worry that the belt they put around you so they can catch you if you fall would be too small. Yesterday I had my post op appointment with my orthopedic surgeon. I had to change into the paper shorts they have you wear for X-ray. The tech asked me, "What size do you want? We have S/M or L/XL." I asked her (already knowing the answer) "What size would you suggest?" She said,"Small." They were huge on me! When I went there 11/2 yrs ago for my first appointment at 235 lbs, they just handed me the L/XL and they were embarrassingly snug! At that appointment my doctor suggested I lose wt before he would do the surgery. He wanted me below 200 lbs. He said at that current wt the surgery would be difficult and my recovery would be hard. When I went back to him the next time I weighed 149lbs. He was impressed! The day of surgery I weighed 133! After surgery, he told me, "Your surgery was very easy to do since you are so small!" Recovery, as he predicted, is going great!

I realized today I am fitting into a pair of one size fits most leggings. The NSV was super helpful as Iโ€™m in a very slow loss cycle.
  18. My new NSV: I was able to finish an entire spinning class without panting for breath or quitting early! Itโ€™s amazing how much losing weight can make working out easier! Now Iโ€™m training for a triathlon coming up in a few months!!
  19. Thanks for the NSV shares folks - I love stopping in on this thread for a little inspiration. below are some more recent NSV I've had: yesterday I was on my feet in the kitchen for 3 hours cleaning and doing food prep. I still had enough energy to go for a walk afterward. Previously, I would have been exhausted and in too much pain after that much time on my feet to even contemplate more activity. I've seen some of you mention this...revved up libido and increased "romantic joy". It's really really really REALLY true. Everything about sex is just way more fun. DH and I celebrated our 25th anniversary this week like it was our honeymoon! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I reactivated an old back injury recently and was able to do the rehab exercises much easier than when I was 60 pounds heavier and I started feeling better in less than half the time than I would have prior to WLS. I'm fitting in size 16 bottoms and large tops and was able to buy clothing for myself at Costco for the first time ever. I got a couple of cute shirts for 6 bucks, an unheard of price for the plus-size clothes that Costco doesn't even carry. My husband can pick me up and has decided that his new workout is called "wife lifting". I'm perfectly fine with this, you know...gotta support his fitness goals! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

One of the events in my life that spurred me to start pursuing surgery happened when my son was not quite 2, and my daughter would have been 4 or so. We had gone to my parents' mountain cabin around 4 hours' drive away, in the winter. We planned to get snow gear at the local WalMart so the kids could play in the snow. I brought the only warm clothing I owned, jeans and a sweatshirt (we live in a desert where it rarely snows, and a sweatshirt is sufficient for the wintriest weather at home). I quickly realized it wouldn't be warm enough to play with my children in the snow, so we spent several hours of our snow-day morning going store-to-store in this fairly small mountain town trying to find a winter jacket that would fit me. I ultimately ended up with a men's XXL skiing-type jacket, which still would barely zip over my hips/butt. We ended up having a great time playing in the snow, but the jacket shopping was truly humiliating. Anyway - long story short, my NSV is that I fit into an Old Navy Medium women's raincoat last week. This morning I achieved my lowest-ever adult weight. I am so fortunate to have this tool to help me live a longer and more fun-filled life for my kids!

Nsv Buy jeans of the rack and they always fit Not being able to buy pants at Costco because I was too big and now because I'm too small Walk around a crowded room without stress Got scuba certified and was actually the smallest there, blew my mind as this is a dream come true. I'm going on a diving excursion by myself and not stressed, boom. I went zip lining in Costa Rica I actually will eat in front of others, huge for me I'm not worried about being judged for my grocery cart I no longer wish to be or feel invisible I tuck my shirts in I love getting dressed up and going to events I can talk with anybody and be present and not focused on negative thoughts I can enjoy social settings again I can swim for hours at a time again I am not afraid of failing anymore because of my weight I am more aware of others needs and am more able to help them. When somebody drops something I quickly pick it up for them. I saved ten bucks on flannel pj pants because instead of the adult xxl I used to wear I fit into a youth size I say yes to adventures now I have the courage to say no too without beating myself up The negative self talk is being replaced with thoughts of gratitude Food is finally just food again

That's 100% a NSV. I have been able to cross my legs without having to literally pull my leg up for 2 months now and it's nice. I'm also getting bony, I notice when I sit for long periods of time (work) my butt starts to really hurt now that it doesn't have the extra padding. Anyway, good job!
  25. New nsv for me is feeling lighter on my feet. Just being able to stand in my heels for a longer period of time and noticing that my feet are not hurting.
