Hi Dee, You asked on my blog how long I've had my band and how I'm doing.
I've had my band since 10/16/2008 and I have lost 87 pounds. I love my band and I know if I followed the rules better I would have a larger weight loss. I have been excersing and I think I am losing inches but I have been stuck in the same area for a bout 3 months now. I haven't been to my dr. since Dec but I have an appt and hope to have atleast a 1 cc fill on Wednesday. I hope to get the weight loss moving again soon!!
Thanks for responding!!!

Ugh yeah I am in college too, plus working two jobs so I am so busy it is hard to find time to work out. I just started doing the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred dvd thing because its only a 20 min workout, but omg it has been kicking my butt haha it was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but i've never been much of a workout person so I am probably just so out of shape haha. I am starting to get a bit frustrated because all of my pants are really too big for me but the next size down is kinda tight :/ so that sucks I feel like I am losing weight but not really seeing much of a difference haha

Hey girly-
How is everything going for ya? I have a nasty cold right now . First time being sick since being banded, wow.
I made to the onderland world! I weigh less now than I did at my highschool freshman physical by like 33 pounds! Crazy huh? I've been heavy my whole life. I'm no longer in the women sizes! YaY! I can actually fit into a size 16 Misses (jeans), I got my first pair of Levi's! Too bad they are already saggy in the booty.
I wouldn't mind doing the professional picture thing once I hit my goal weight (I still have a alittle ways to go). Do you think Megan would possibly do mine?
Take care-
Tammy
P.S. I wish I had a the lifesize thing of Edward! I can't wait til New Moon comes out on DVD & Eclipse hits the theater this summer!!!!!

Hi Matilda,
I went to my two nutrition/information classes on Thursday. Kaiser requires that we take a ton of classes and by the time we have the surgery we are really ready for it. I am 6 pounds under the weight they required me to lose for the surgery too. I am ready I think. My job isn't really sedentary. I am a teacher on special assignment for our district and I do a lot of filming and work out at the different school sites. I think 2 weeks will be enough time off, but I will still have to be careful not to over commit myself when I come back to work. At the class on Thursday they said that the first month or so expect to be tired like a toddler and to expect to fall asleep easily at night.

Ok it is March and I have decided that I don't want to lose any more weight I am a size 9 and weigh 157. This has been a very easy journey and I would not trade it for the world. If any of you are out there thinking about doing this stop thinking and do it... It will save some of your life and give some of you new lifes... This is not the cure all and end all you will still have to have self control and will power but alot less of it. I love being able to wear normal clothes and not be tied down to three fat stores that you can shop at.... So if you are thinking about it take the next step and change your life...

In June 2006 I was sitting with some friends talking about their experience with the LAP-BAND?, and how their life changed a lot to the better. So I decided to do the LAP-BAND?, I had it in August 2006, and till May 2009 I lost 68 lb, my life was organized. After April 2009 due to the type of my new Job (all day desk work) I stopped going to gym, my eating habits went from better to worse (chocolates), my life was in a mess. I gained around 30 lb.
Now I am fasting for Lent & no chocolates since Feb15,2010. I lost around 4 lb so far, & planning to go to gym next April. I decided to lose 37 lb. by end of August. I want to have a good life. Also since I am still single & never been married, hope I will find my soul mate after I reach my first target, I don?t know where he is now but I am sure one day I will meet him.
Take care all & God Bless

Holy crap! I think we're like soul twins lol. I write songs and perform too and everyone tells me to go on AI too. I've just always wanted a band because I'm very much into rock music, but I'm starting to think if I don't even try on my own no band is going to want me regardless of my weight. It's what I love to do but I'm just scared of failure...and people judging me. Yeah you're right it is mind power...but we should always start sooner rather then later, because this change isn't fast and as we're just letting the change happen, dreams and opportunities can pass us by...

Lol rambling is good for the soul. I think this experience will definitely be one to tear you down before it builds you up confidence wise though. Because about a week after I had the surgery I already started realizing. "What the heck am I going to do?" It's hard to gain something that's invisible and you've never had to know how it feels. I've always faked confidence, gone for things people will tell me not to and been a people pleaser, but at the same time I've never thought about what I've wanted to pursue. If I could actually make my dreams come true etc. Like I've always wanted to be in a band. But "who wants an overweight lead singer?" soooo overall I just...I'm wondering so much lately about what's possible now. And I hate not knowing...so it's a break down you know...it's weird

I do to, and it kinda makes me feel like im an alien or something cause they don't know what its like and can't relate. Yeah it will, we will be all happy about the weight we lost and how we look, and feel good about the work we've done. And they will sit there and pick and poke at themselves to try and get the attenion we will be getting lol. =.]
Oh I see, I will check that out lol. Psh, I wish I had the "underweight" issue lol, then I could eat pretty much what I wanted and not feel bad about it, or a pig. lol. Well I have very broad shoulders, and my bones are set to be bigger, I guess, that what I was told, so im never going to be a size 4-7 like my mother. =./

This site is a great resource for help, encouragement, and reassurance. I was banded in September with a Realize Band and have a very conservative Dr. I am just now experiencing my first signs of restriction. The procedure itself is over and done with so quickly....best of luck....you'll be fine! Best (unasked for) advice...don't be passive and sit and let the weight come off....as soon as you are able to get around, start walking! Life was fun before, but now I find it exhilirating!!! Good luck again and if you have any questions, just ask!

Hi Elleaitch, over 6 stones, thats fantastic! I bet you feel like a new woman? And you are still losing? I'm not too stressed about losing the weight fast but at the moment I dont feel like I have had anything done at all. I can eat anything. But I am hoping once I have a fill it will start to work. How many fills have you had? I am so happy for you. You are right, seeing others succeed is a great incentive. I am looking forward to next year when I can maybe say the same

Everything is going really good. Getting fills every two weeks, really starting to feel real restriction. On the 18th I'll be 4 month post-op and even with the 15lb muscle weight gain I had last month I'm still ahead of the curve when it comes to losing, so I'm doing really well with a weightloss around the 60lb mark, I was closer to 80 but I look better and feel better, scale is up but measurements and dress sizes are down no complaints here. Hope October hurries for you! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Hi thin-at-heart,
Keep the faith girlfriend! I, too, am hopeful that the lapband and weight loss will help with other health issues. Let's pray for wonderful HEALTHY results! I'm getting banded on 4/23 so we are super close! We can do it!!!!!

You'll do fine at your doc's appointment! I can't wait to hear how you do. I was down 14 lbs at mine last week but I think I've lost about 5-6 since then. The scale is REALLY moving all of the sudden. I'm still sticking to a pretty strict regimen. I drink a protein shake every morning for breakfast. Lunch is something small and packed with protein. I eat a TON of chicken and turkey. Protein first! Dinners are less than 1/2 of what I used to eat. Last night was 1/2 of a chicken wrap. Sadly, my hubby has GAINED 5+ lbs, but I think it's because he keeps finishing my meals. I have to get him to stop that.
I'm worried because I'm going out of town this weekend and will inevitably bloat. I don't want to go into my doctor's office on Monday for my first fill and be up or not show any more weight loss. So, I'm trying to figure that out.
Good luck to you! HUGS!

I'm good... a little nervous about my post-op visit with the surgeon on thursday... I told myself that I don't care how fast I lose weight but I hope after all the liquids and will power... I will have lost a good amount. I lost almost 15 pounds on the 12 days before my surgery.. I am hoping that I will have lost at least that much in these last 3 1/2 weeks... Keep your fingers crossed. It's a struggle getting used to my new diet... especially before my band gets it's first fill. How's your diet going?

Cont'd...
To be fair though I should state that I was solid to begin with, even at my highest weight I was solid not loose and flabby. After my last major weightloss (pre-surgery) I started to get cellulite, but I've found massage and exercise quickly gets rid of it... in fact I was able to wear a jean mini skirt again yesterday, totally made my day lol! - As women of color we definitely have an advantage in this weightloss battle when it comes to skin, muscle helps build (and rebuild) the connective tissue that the skin is connected to and burns that layer of fat between the muscles and the skin - once the fat is gone the "saggy" skin look WILL vanish. Let me know if you have an other questions - Good luck!

Sorry for the delay in response. I certainly hope that your surgery went well. Dr. Fox was an excellent surgeon and has great aftercare. As long as you follow what you are supposed to do you should not have any complications. I haven't had any issues physically with the band. The only thing that I have had problems with is in the morning I have to drink something hot before I eat because I feel super restricted during that time. I have finally given up all bread and pastas and Dr. Fox will stay on you regarding those. I like hime because he is very honest and doesn't baby like some other surgeons I know. He has stayed on me with my weight loss. Some other things he tells you to stay away from is cheese. I am here if you have any questions or need to talk. I am so happy I had the surgery. I am 16 months post op and I have lost 45 lbs which is my halfway goal. It is a slow process but that is the way it should be. Let me know how things went! And Congrats!!!!
