  1. Okay - I just knew this was going to be the right fill. I do seem to get full quicker. However, I just don't feel it? I know, I should just be happy that I eat less. In the past it has taken a few weeks for my fill to really kick in, so I'm hoping that will happen. I'm very hopeful it will work, but I'm also scared this fill doesn't work. I'm running out of room for any further fills. So, I'm not going to give up. I had weight wise oatmeal this morning, only ate about 1/2 of it. Lunch Tomatoe soup Dinner Protein shake, maybe some smashed up beans I made too. Exercise - 10:00 am 15 min on elliptical machine 3:00 pm - 15 min on elliptical machine

  3. I am 10 days out, can some help me. What's good for constpation
  4. So true, Sleepy! Of course, I have to be the oddball. Since my "technical' post-op weight loss period, if I don't include the liquid diet phase, then I think I technically lost more weight more quickly in my 2nd year, but that was because I was better restricted. The first 9 months, I wasn't well restricted at all. In the next 6 months, things started chugging right along. Now I'm down to maybe 5-10# of my doc's (too conservative) goal, so things are going a bit slower. I would prefer to lose at least another 10# more (a bit more might even be OK, but we'll see). The weight loss is a wee bit slower because my body is finally realizing it's losing it's beloved "buffer weight." But this excess flab is being evicted - so it better pack up and get ready to get out! :clap2:

    Hunger

Praying yours goes away soon! Mine was instantly gone, I haven't felt hunger since my surgery 10+ months ago.... I also didn't take a PPI before OR after surgery. I don't know if I'm just lucky or what, but my hubby is sleeved and in the exact same boat...no hunger, no PPI.

    Fluids post-op

I'm fighting with fluids too. Doc wants 10 1oz cups per hour.... yesterday I maybe got a total of 30oz of liquid in. Today is day 3 post op for me. I'm scared of dehydration but it still hurts to drink. Sip sip sip

    Fluids post-op

On day 1 I probably had 1 oz. Day 2 it was 10 oz. Yesterday was day 3 and I think I got up to 30 oz. My nurses said to aim for 32 at first. Last night was the first time it didn't hurt and it felt like I could drink decent sized sips. I just try to increase liquids each day. My lips aren't dry so this seems to be fine, although I know I need to get to 64 soon.

    Pre Preop Diet!?

Yes thats right , I said it! I'm outraged at myself for gaining so much weight . I went from 272 last may to 232 last october. NOW, today....I'm 272 again. Back to my highest. I have been eating like a horse since i found out my surgery was scheduled and everything is a GO. Now, I'd like to lose 10 lbs before I start pre op. Does this sound stupid or logical? be honest , i love all of your honesty!!!!

    Lap Band-Pseudo Tumor??

Hi, new here, but had to put in my 2 cents. Have had PTC for about 10 years now, diamox, LPs and (unfortunately) loosing weight to within 15 pounds of normal/goal did not help,I have been shunted with multiple revisions. I have also unfortunately regained most of the weight lost, leading to my decision to get banded. After 3 attempts to be approved for the band I was successful in getting approved and was banded on June 1 so am still early in my band journey. Honestly my hopes are to improve my overall health, if my PTC were to stabilize that would be a bonus, but I am not optomistic. I am really curious to hear other peoples experience and outcomes. Good luck to all who suffer the PTC beast.
  12. I'm also getting my band out due to problems I'm having with it. Personally, if someone can get their head around removing half their stomach (which I'm still working on), the sleeve seems a better option. Yes the band is less invasive, but with the sleeve you're not constantly trying to find that sweet spot. Plus, I discovered on my last doctor's visit (maybe I was already told but forgot) that these bands were not really expected to last for life...that at some point many will find their way back into surgery to have them removed/replaced within 10 years or so. They still don't know how long they'll actually last. .

    DENIED (BCBSIL)

Yes I spoke with the Claims person. She said that WW was not enough that I needed a doctor supervised plan. I started going to the doctor 3 months ago and the information she submitted wasn't enough. They wanted a food Journal and notes on how my exercise was for example if I could only do 10 leg lifts in one month then the second month I could do 15 leg lifts. That kind of documentation. When I spoke with my Insurance Coordinator at the Bariatric clinic she told me that I had a really tough claims adjustor and she was surprised they were being that strict but she was going to wait on the denial letter and see what I need to do. Just Bummed me out
  15. I am wondering the same thing. My surgery is June 8 and my son is graduating university on June 15th. My problem is that the ceremony is 2 hours away and my son needs to be there 2 hours before it starts. The ceremony is for several programs and could last 3-4 hours. That could mean it will be a 10 hour day away from home one week after surgery. My surgery was booked for several months before we knew the graduation date and cannot be changed now as it took a lot of planning to get time off work.

What to expect from my 1st fill

I got my first fill last Thursday, 07/01/10. It doesnt hurt at all. They put me on the table, laid me back. He felt for the port then swabbed & cleaned the area with hibiclens. He gave me a shot numb the area then inserted the needle for the fill. He let the nurse know the measurements for where my port was located, then filled it with how ever many cc's. He then had me sit up (with the needle still inserted, didnt hurt at all) and had em drink some water to ensure it went down with ease, it did. That was it. He pulled out the needle and put a bandaid on. The pain is less than getting a blood test, that simple. The whole thing probably took 3 minutes total from prep to finish. So, nothing to worry about.
  17. I'm a tummy sleeper too and I still can't do it 10 days after surgery. The port side is where you'll feel the pain. I do sleep on my side but I have to carefully place a couple of pillows to feel comfy. One bad thing never fails for me, once I'm comfy I have to go to the bathroom :wink2:

  19. My liquid diet starts this money. My meal plan is 4 shakes a day (which I took a sip of muscle milk and wanted to gag) and I am allowed to have vegetables with a 10 calorie dressing. And broth. Any ideas on things to eat that taste good and are allowed? Pre op recipes if you will and any shakes that actually are tolerable. Thanks in advance..
  20. My name is Haley. I'm 19 years old and I got the vertical sleeve gastrectomy on October 22. My surgeon was Dr. Boorse at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania. I choose to get the surgery because I have dealt with my weight all my life. I tried taking diet pills, did weight watchers and so on. But I always seemed to gain the weight back. What really hit me and made me choose to get the surgery would be my doctor telling me I was at a high risk for a heart attack. It made me think do I want to have a heart attack at the age of 19? So from then on I decided to change my life to a healthier life style than what I was use to. My highest weight was 265 pounds. The day of surgery I weighed in at 245 and as of today I weigh 180 pounds.
  21. Maybe your husband could be a little more sensitive and not eat them around you. Atleast during your early stages here where you haven't broken your bad eating habits and you are still learning how to eat with the band. I am lucky because even though my husband is thin, he prefers to eat healthy, which makes it easier for me. I'm only 10 days banded and just started mushies. But I didn't go through this surgery to not be successful. So good luck to you. Take care of yourself.
  22. I make butternut squash soup One squash cubed 3 apples peeled and cubed 1 small onion 1 can of low sodium vegetable stock Cook on low until soft Then with a hand mixer to purée right in the pot. If you don't have one of the high speed hand mixers, transfer to a food processor or blender. Then back in the soup pot add 2 Tbsp of reduced fat peanut butter 1/4 cup of lime juice 1/2 cup of fresh cilantro (chopped) I just use scissors Cook for 10 more minutes and your all set.. Easy and so good Hardest part is cutting the squash so I buy the precut if my hubby's not around ... Enjoy!

    NSV

Aggie, I had the same experience yesterday. I was getting dressed to go to church and I couldn't find anything to wear. All of the clothes in my closet are BIG! I had no choice but to go into some storage bins that contain size 10-12 clothes. By the way, the clothes in my closet are all size 14-16. Anyhow, I picked the first pair of jeans I saw in the bin, looked at the tag and they were a size 10. I thought, these won' fit me yet. But a little voice inside dared me to try them on. It was a miracle! They fit! My husband and daughter were cheering me on.....I could not believe it. It felt so damn good!
