It's another multi level hustle. Not saying it won't work, but it's really not any different than the slim fast diet or the Hollywood diet. It greatly restricts calories by controlling eating habits. You an creat the exact same results much cheaper by going to the local health food store buying high quality supplements and creating your own system. The promise of financial rewards is where the real problem is. This is why you are hearing so much about it. The company gets everybody hyped about the program by promising unrealistic rewards so they go out repeating the companies pitch hoping to get in on the business end of it. However like every other MLM out there you will never make any money selling this overpriced product. You make money recruiting a downline.

I feel the same as most of you on this thread. Nothing I have eaten bothers me at all. I'm able to gulp Water. I drink plenty of it, but just starting wondering if drinking too much too fast could stretch the pouch? I'm afraid to try sweets or fried foods. I'm just telling myself they'll make me sick, but I have my doubts. I stalled for a couple of weeks. I added more exercise into the day and added a Protein shake to my day and have started loosing again. Exercise is the key. You have to burn more calories than you consume to loose weight.

How Long Does HeartBurns last?
Butterflyhigh replied to mindy79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had heartburn nearly daily for several monhs after surgery...maybe 9 or so. It was almost always because I wasnt chewing my food enough and eating too fast. It was a real motivation to SLOW DOWN while eating. I am now 11 months post-op and only occasionally have to eat tums or rolaids. It does resolve itself in most cases. -
"cheating" (A Concern)
SleeveDreamer replied to Indymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel so lucky that my doctor has a great dietician for me to work with right in his office. It assures me that I will not be "jumping the gun" and eating someting I shouldn't be. I agree that you really need to follow your doctor's requirements and eat at the stages he recommends. It's true the first couple of months are boring but remember, we didn't gain all the weight in just a couple of months, and we are fortunate to be able to lose at a fast pace after the surgery. We certainly couldn't lose this fast on our own, so we have to weigh the good with the bad and appreciate that we are already much healthier than we have been in years, and that a month or so is nothing to contend with! -
Welcome to Bandland! Hope you recover fast!

I had surgery yesterday and have been having some issues with Water. When I drink it I feel discomfort, and a tightness in my chest. It only last a minute or two and then passes. 1. Is this just because my surgery was so recent and there is swelling? 2. Am I taking too big of sips or drinking too fast? 3. Is this being "stuck" and is it bad for my band? 4. Will I be able to drink bigger sips/ faster after I heal? I'm just realizing how hard it's really going to be to drink and eat slow....I thought I was already. :wink2: TIA!

One week post-op and hungry!
magpie26 replied to Darin'Sharon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're not alone. It's common. It's "head" hunger and it isn't. I'm 2 weeks post op and I know exactly how you feel. I came home and I felt hungry, but I still would get full quickly. Do you feel hungry at all just after you've eaten? It's a weird thing that happens to me that it will feel like a hunger pang but my dietician said my body is out of sync and I'm eating too fast. Eat slow! My hunger feeling is SLOWLY going away, but it's all your brain and everything not understanding what the heck is going on. My roommate from the hospital (we found each other on Facebook) has the same issue so I'm glad it's not me. -
Absolutely log your food. It keeps you accountable to yourself. It is amazing how fast one can get off track even after a week of not logging. Also have you tried the 5 day pouch test? Google it, lots of folks that have been stuck that long are able to get kick started using this test. It basically puts you through the food stages and your body starts kicking into to weight loss mode again. If I ever get a stall that lasts as long as yours I plan to use that to pouch test to get me started again. Good luck to you!

So I am going to preface this by saying I work in surgery at a hospital affiliated with the hospital I am having my WLS at so not telling people was not an option for me. I have to do six nutrition appointments for insurance approval and have my last appointment next week. After that appointment they submit to insurance and will call when approved (they say a few days our insurance is fast I am told). That is when I will get my surgery date. My mom had surgery at the same place last week and when they called her to set a surgery date it was two weeks out...so I will not have a lot of notice. I work directly with one other woman, she is a huge gossip so I didn't tell her I was having WLS until about three weeks ago, she assured me she would not tell anyone else since I am anxious I won't get it for some reason but she told everyone, and she complained a lot about me, saying I was selfish to have this surgery in the summer and I was going to screw up her vacation in September... I was upset, IMO understandably so, but I am hoping to have my surgery early in July so even with 6 weeks off work I would be back in time. I came in to work today and she starts grilling me on a surgery date which I still don't have. (I called her out on telling everyone so I believe she thinks I will no longer tell her anything which outside of a surgery date and work info I will not be sharing anything with her). She informed me she is taking off two weeks in July now too... So after stressing and counting out weeks to try and accommodate her September vacation, she is throwing more time off in around when I need to have surgery. Does anyone have any advice, I had fully intended to take first available surgery date, is that selfish? Should I schedule later to accommodate her July time? I know right now I am running what ifs through my head they might not schedule me as early as I had hoped...but I feel lik she has pushed me into an impossible situation. Any suggestions on what to do and how to handle her jealousy?

Hi all! Yes, I am a Newbie to this site. I had asked my surgery coordinator just this morning if she could get me in touch with someone in my area (West Virginia) who had the lapband done. When I got home this afternoon, I had an email from a very nice lady (lbj5362) who recommended this site. This nice lady included her phone number in her email so I called her and we talked for and hour and a half! A little about me...I attended the seminar in November, had a consultation in December and on Wednesday had an endoscopy done. I've also had and EKG and blood work done. In the next couple weeks, I'm scheduled for a sleep study and psych eval. I'm not sure how fast things may happen but I'm so ready for it, especially after talking to lbj5362. She was such a help!

I eat between 2-4 oz depending on the item. I have to weigh my food or I eat too much. When I eat too much I get pain between my shoulder blades and if I eat too fast I have a lump in my throat. When you ate your pancake, if you felt satisfied and not in pain or stuffed, then you did a great job getting full without getting overfull.

Eating out or at others homes...
JanJan19 replied to DanieHall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I super appreciate your reply it so hits home and helps me! How are things going for you with your surgery? I have almost a month out and while I haven’t lost what I consider an awesome amount of weight I just simply feel great - I used to be a huge binge eater and fast food junkie, I could absolutely not pass up French fries no matter how much I wanted to! I would eat massive amounts of unhealthy foods until I felt sick but then would just keep eating. I do not feel that way at ALL now! It’s so refreshing! I took my kid to McDonalds and got him a meal and got some unsweetened iced tea for myself and had absolutely zero desire to order something bad for myself and just went home and had some low fat cottage cheese and went on my merry way. It’s really helped me change my frame of mind and I’m so grateful for that. I was very nervous about eating in restaurants but honestly now I think it’ll be fine and am so happy!! Thanks again! Everything has been picture perfect since my surgery. I too thought I'd have lost more - but I think I based that on this forum & seeing people talking about losing 30 pounds in a week. That has never been the case for me. I think the highest week loss was 6 pounds. I hit a stall a couple weeks ago & lost 1, this past week was 3.4. Surgery date was May 23 & my total loss is at 28 pounds. There's an app called get-2-goal which has been helpful in terms of where I should be. According to that I'm more than on pace. My doctor is happy with my loss thus far as well. Thus far, nothing has bothered me. I really don't think anything is going to bother me. I haven't yet had sugar (other than grapes or strawberries) but I'm pretty sure it won't bother me. So for me this sleeve is a tool to eat less, but it's not going to make me sick the way it does some people when they eat bad things. -
So pissed and discouraged by Blue Cross
meggiep replied to needachange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second that- ask your doctor to help you fast track as you are a teacher and need to do it at that time. Also, doesn't starting in November count? -
Just know that your Aetna policy could be different from others. They can provide you with the specifics of your plans coverage of bariatric surgery. It should say what types of bariatric surgery they cover and what the criteria is for gaining approval. They need to give you something more specific than just saying it must be medically necessary. For my insurance, it's a 6 month process. According to my surgeon, even if you are self pay, it's still about 3 months. I'm sure they are exceptions, but it's not a fast process. I agree with sweetpea - it's time well spent. I'm 4 months into the 6 month process for my insurance company. I'm trying to be very careful to meet all of the plan requirements, but I'm so worried I'll miss something that will result in a rejection.

What is your definition of feeling full?
Strangefruit replied to taffyscorner76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 10/22... I still don't have a good understanding of FULL...but know exactly the feeling of OVER full... With me, it's a feeling as though something is stuck in my chest, not my throat... and the difference between full and this horrible feeling can be as little as one more bite. My NUT jokingly says, "Eat until you are full, but stop two bites before..." That is exactly what I have to do... I am getting better at eyeballing the amount I should eat... and I stop before I feel "full" because I don't exactly have this feeling. But I know if I eat ONE BITE past this ... non feeling, then I was have the uncomfortable pain feeling in the chest that is only alleviated by throwing up. I also get this feeling if I eat too fast or don't chew well enough. Such is the life of a sleever. -
Saying goodbye to fast food
clc9 replied to About time for me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Binging is always a bad idea. As is thinking you will never eat certain things again. There are some healthier items you can have at fast food places or eating in much smaller quantities. Some people have a burger without the bun. Or chili at Wendy's. Or grilled nuggets at Chick Fil A. -

Hernia POST-OP?? MAJOR HEARTBURN PLEASE HELP!
LeighaMason replied to MrsShannonDennis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hernia that they fixed at surgery but I never knew I had it. I burped alot before but I rarely had heartburn. If I eat too fast now I feel like I have heartburn. Maybe just not having as much food in your stomach is causing the acid to burn more than before. Have you tried pepsid (chewable)? It works for me. -
When I do intermitten fasting I stop eating foods but I may have a cup of tea, or coffee before my workout in the morning. I was taught that you can drink whatever you want but as always limit your sugar intake to about 60g during an entire fast (16-24 hours) and If you must eat something let it be no more than 100 calories within an entire fasting period. NO ALCOHOL I generally stick to Water, tea or coffee. It has helped me finally reach my water intake, because I'm usually still awake 6 hours after I begin a fast.

First bad food experience :( - Guess it's too early for tuna
Daisee68 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 weeks post-op tomorrow. Been on pureed foods since Friday (6 days). I am supposed to be able to have "soft" foods which included tuna, but not sure if I ate too fast, ate too much or didn't chew it well enough but it hurt a lot behind my sternum after about 6 bites and then it did not stay down. Think I'll stick with pureed foods for a while.... -
Nearly 2 Wks out...Going to Disney World??
Bhageerah replied to Alicia Duncan's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I really would stay away from any and all rides that have any sort of health advisory on them. At only two weeks out you are still healing and will not be able to ride anything that is extremely "fun" and fast moving. You should be fine with walking around the park, we went to a local amusement park and by the time we were done we did well over 6 miles. Of course I did not ride anything other than the train and sky ride but at least the kids had fun! As far as moving on to the puree stage, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! And I am sure that you should be able to find something there that is acceptable, of course you will not be able to have something to puree the food but my advice would be to stick to what the Dr says is acceptable. You should be able to find things in the park that you are allowed to eat such as just a chicken breast and cut it into small bites and chew thoroughly before swallowing. I know that it may not make much sense right now but you may want to take some plastic bags in order to put food in. I know it may sound crazy but trust me you will not even be able to finish a kids meal. I am almost four months out and there is NO way that I can finish a normal chicken breast in one sitting. Depending on what it is I may be able to eat 5 oz of foods that are soft like salad but things like protein are about 4. (just a fyi) Good luck and please make sure that you have a blender bottle and plenty of protein packets with you!!! -
Maybe I can help you. I have the lap band and my husband had GB along with his mother and his father. I can tell you why I did lap band. I am a nurse and have seen GB that have gone bad I could go on and tell you the morbid details but you can just go on the internet to do that. The band was out patient and if it goes wrong you can take it out. My family all suffered with intense pain for about 2 weeks after there surgery. I had very minimal discomfort. GB and lapband have the same goal. LB is a slower weight loss and does envolve more will power. GB weight loss is faster because say I ate a turkey sandwhich and my husband did too, my sandwhich goes through my entire digestive system. My husband is missing about half of his digetive system (hense the term bypass) so my body took in all of the fat and calories were his took in half. My husband did awesome with his bypass and has lost 180 pound but has said numerous times the he wishes he was aware the LB. This is a personal choice for each of you. The GB is 95% more risky than the LB. We had small children to keep in mind and they need parents (fat or skinny). I do not want to tell your husband what to do, however if he as patience the LB can be just as successful as the GB. My husband also had huge health issues (as most of us do) so the surgery makes it that much more of a risk. But we are a gastric bypass and a lap band household. In the end we both have lost weight and that is the goal. Also, I had LB in Aug a week before my father in law had GB he has lost 65 pounds and I have lost 73 pounds so it is possible to loose weight just as fast or faster than GB. P.S. I know it sounds good but I would stager you surgery and not have it at the same time if possible. There are complications as we have all told you :>
