  2. Ok, I'll jump in. My menu for the next week or so will be kinda jacked. I'm having some let's just say, "intestinal issues" as a result of the gut surgery a couple weeks ago so am having something I don't normally--a modified BRAT diet with lots of carbolicious nonsense! So this should be very interesting how it's gonna affect my weight and rate of loss, and blood sugar. My fasting bg went from 83 to 102 in just 2 days. So yeah. There's that. LOL. My weight info is all in my left side area under my name and in my signature line. 133.0lbs this morning working on Goal #3 of 130lbs. 56 year old, 5'4" female. Here's today's jacked up menu. I'm just not hungry and tummy is having issues so it's doubtful I'll eat until lunchtime and even then, I may not get all my meals in. I may be going to the PCP about it.     Thanks! I was mostly grilled cheeses, tomato soups, reheating pizza and omelettes w/toast so the temptation was gone BUT the one yogurt parfait i prepared was what i missed 😂 Feeling a lot better today now that it has cooled down

    Maybe this can help someone.

    Heres the avocado cilantro greek yogurt dressing. Makes a little container full to last you the whole week. I only add like a tbs to my fish with some chopped up tomatoes taste very yummy. Some times i add a little chopped up cucumber as well. (I also use just a little minced garlic not garlic glove)

    Just double check your instructions, tho. I’m on clear liquids only the day before my surgery, so yogurt would be out (because that’s a full liquid).

    There are many variations But Not likely especially if they didnt specifically say you could have yogurt/pudding during your preop liquid diet. What does your info package tell you?
  7. Hello! My gastric sleeve is tomorrow, and I’m unsure if a food I like is able to be eaten today. They said I should be on a liquid diet, but I’m wondering if yogurt/pudding counts as a liquid? I ask because after my mom’s surgery, they had her on a liquid diet and gave her jell-o. Help! I just want a yogurt!

    I hear ya, so many things i didnt know going into this as well. I like to make tilapia with seasoning and mix it with a homemade cilantro avocado greek yogurt dressing. Almonds and protein packed beef jerky have also been my go too. I havent tryed salad yet but grilled zucchini and broccoli are something i have alot. Chicken everytime i eat it gives me alot of chest pain so been trying to stay away from that. Fish and pork seem to go down very well. Tuna salad is good but get sick of that more than twice aweek. I have a boiled or scrambled egg most mornings. (Snack jalapeno cheese on 3 wheat thins shh dont tell anyone). I love Gatorade zero that helps me get in more liquids. Im only losing 1pound or 2 a week thought it be faster but hoping when i add in some cardio that will help as well. I bought a taebo dvd to workout too so i can do it with my kids around.. I have so much more energy now than i did before surgery. I am loving that.
  9. Don't eat that, it's just filler food and not very nutritious - concentrate on your protein goals and liquid goals. You are better off with ricotta bake, Greek yogurts or soups with protein at this food stage - unless you have a milk allergy or something. Cream of wheat/rice are just processed carbs - no value. If you feel you need a carb try a baked sweet potato.

    Needy worry wart newbie here!

    So I had same experience as @GradyCat—nothin much jacked with me except heavy calorie dense foods. My tastes did change in that I now crave healthy, clean, light foods. Still don’t eat many casserole type high cal junk—just don’t want it. Protein drinks did taste sweeter but that was easily handled. I just dilute the clear ones with water or tea and dilute the creamy ones with decaf coffee, decaf teas and Greek yogurt and cultured cottage cheese. NBD. i have a firm philosophy with my self —it’s called “The suck-it-up-buttercup” defense. I went into the surgery with a hardline attitude that I wasn’t gonna allow my new anatomy to make me its little bi*ch. So anytime a food didn’t sit well I’d set it aside for a couple weeks then retry. I can now eat all.the.foods. I knew I wanted to get in, get out and get on with living my best life and didn’t want to get stuck in the attention/seeking loop that is our pre-surgery and post-surgery life. By definition we must focus selfishly on ourselves and I wanted to minimize that phase for the sake of my rl relationships. I wasnt 100%perfect—no one is, but mindset is important and can make a difference to everything even post op food tolerances!!!
  11. I scoured the forum for tips from people and came up with a revised list of things to try. I'll be adding to this and updating as time goes on but this is a lot to go on and gives me hope as I start my Pureed diet phase this weekend. Enjoy ! 1. Eggface Ricotta Bake (google it) 2. Green bean casserole (bariatric style) with canned chicken 3. Tuna casserole (bariatric style) with green Beans instead of peas 4. Mexican beef with cheese or beans with cheese (too carby for me--made me hungry too soon after eating) 5. Broccoli, spinach or cauliflower pureed with light cream cheese, lemon juice, s/p/g (steam the crap out of it first) 6. Smashed cauliflower with bacon and green onions (put in a food processor) 7. Any Soup or chili made bariatric style 8. Fish in foil pouches with lemon and spices/herbs. 9. zucchini sauteed with onion, tomatoes and herbs and pureed--can add any kind of lean meat.< /span> 10. yogurt/cottage cheese blends with berries. 11. Pureed black Beans with a bit of cheese 12. Yellow Split Pea Soup puree 13. Buffalo chicken Dip puree 14. Broccoli cheese Soup puree 15. Pureed Chicken Salad 16. 4 Cheese mashed cauliflower 17. Hummus - Roasted Red Pepper by Sabra 18. Eggface Cottage Cheese Bake (sub out cottage cheese for ricotta + parmesan + ps mozza shreds + low carb marinara) 19. Cottage cheese flavored with taco seasoning 20. Progresso chicken enchilada soup with mashed cauliflower & ground chicken pureed 21.   13. I am tentatively planning a trip to do a 5 day hike across Peru next Summer. The trip includes all meals, which is all local cuisine with local families or in small villages. I am concerned because I know I will need a good amount of protein and calories to do this hike (it's pretty intense), BUT, most foods make me very ill. I can't eat anything with flour, I am highly sensitive to anything with much sugar, I can't eat any fish, ground beef, most chicken. I can't eat MOST dairy (with the odd exception of cottage cheese and yogurt?? - cream-based anything makes me sick). I can't eat any fruit except berries without feeling sick. And all starchy veggies make me sick. I don't think I can carry 9 days (the hike is 5 days, the whole trip is 9) worth of my own food on my back with me (or through all the airports). Does anyone know what I can do??? I really want to be able to travel and do this! I think like "regular" trips I could probably get accommodation to have a basic salad or something, but this is a bit different since we will be in like.... the jungle and mountains. Do I just eat turkey jerky for 9 days?? lol.

    Easy recipes?

    Some of my favorite no brainer foods that I could make and keep in the fridge: tuna, salmon, or chicken salad made with hard boiled egg and cultured low fat cottage cheese (replacing mayo) with a dab of Greek yogurt and dijon, some pickle juice or relish (which i could get out of mushie phase). chicken green bean "casserole"--I made up little microwave ramekins with the mixture. Just follow the green bean casserole recipe from Thanksgiving and cut quantities in quarter or half. Add a can or two of drained, flaked canned chicken. Then split up and cover. Nuke just before serving. Add a couple of the fried onion or fried garlics from salad toppers. Yum. I also made ground turkey and mushrooms and cubed zucchini or baby spinach, and would add a spoon of Heinz gravies from a jar (any kind--I like brown gravy best). I mostly just did fish, chicken, turkey, shrimp + veg + healthy fat. Super easy to cook your meat in small batches. 1 piece of chicken could last days in the early days. Then use frozen veg cuz easy to measure and weigh and they are mushier than fresh -- until you can tolerate texture better. Hope that helps.

  16. I eat yogurt for breakfast every day. I had chicken salad for lunch and I'm planning on having eggs for dinner. I'm not eating a bunch of crap. I can now get in more food above my 80 grams of protein, so I eat vegetables and a serving of fruit. Today I will have 10 Rainier cherries as they are in season here.

    So that's where I am hitting a brick wall. I normally will have yogurt or 2 scrambled eggs in the mornings and I won't eat until I go on lunch at my work and I'll either get a side salad and a ham slider from Arby's. Then when I get home I am super hungry so I eat whatever my husband makes. Recently he has been a fan of hamburger helper or something that has either rice or pasta with it.     =p I have a soy protein isolate shake for breakfast, a light and fit greek yogurt for a snack (if I need one), a hard boiled egg for lunch, a soy protein isolate shake for afternoon snack, and cottage cheese/hardboiled egg for dinner. I randomly munch on cherry tomatoes/blueberries too occasionally.

    STAGE TWO DIET...HELP

    I just bought some Oikos zero Greek yogurt it has between 11 and 15 grams protein. It’s pretty good. I also got some soup to run through the bullet for something more like food. It takes me almost an hour to finish the yogurt.

    I need more food ideas for soft food stage

    I didn't have to do purees, only mushies. They had to be mashable with a fork and I had to chew like crazy. Also, my quantity was only 1/8-1/4cup volume at that time. So it was super important to keep things SIMPLE and with as little cooking as possible. So my mainstays were: Tuna Salad (pouch tuna + HB egg + cottage cheese + dijon mustard + pickle juice) Chicken Salad (canned chicken + HB egg + cottage cheese + dijon mustard + garlic powder s/p + ranch mix) Salmon Salad (canned salmon minus skin but with bones mashed up + cottage cheese + dijon mustard + tarragon vinegar) Eggface Cottage Cheese Bake (sub out cottage cheese for ricotta + parmesan + ps mozza shreds + low carb marinara) Chicken Green Bean Casserole (canned chicken + cream of mushroom soup + canned green beans + garlic powder s/p/onion powder + nuke til hot and bubbly) Soft Boiled Eggs with a tiny bit of butter Tilapia foil pouch + frozen broccoli cooked to mushy Green Smoothie (scoop of banana protein powder + 1oz frozen spinach + 1oz frozen blueberries + Silk unsweetend cashew milk + peanut butter powder) Yogurt Cottage Cheese Soup with Canned Fruit (1/4c Grk yogurt + 1/4c cottage cheese + liquid stevia drops + soft canned fruit or apple sauce unsweetened) SF Popsicles Protein Coffees and Protein Teas (decaff) And that's what I lived on until I progressed. So damn easy.
  21. From what I have seen, yogurt and such is often/usually considered a "full" liquid, but as usual, docs vary in what they put into what phase and how they define things, so that is your go-to source of info. We didn't even have a "full liquid" (or even liquid) phase, so what do I know?

I've just started my puree stage, so I haven't tried many of these yet, but here's my list of things to try during this stage: Pea puree Parsnip puree 4 cheese mashed cauliflower Cottage cheese Refried beans Pureed black beans w/ salsa & sour cream or greek yogurt Blended soups (Chili, Cauliflower curry soup, Indian peanut soup, Lentil soup, Chicken Tortilla Soup, Cream of mushroom soup, Chowder) Cream of wheat Protein coffee slushie Mashed avocado Mashed sweet potato Hummus Scrambled egg Pureed chicken salad Pureed spinach/artichoke dip Pureed egg salad Baked ricotta Baked tilapia I will also add collagen powder to many of these for added protein if I think it won't mess up the texture.

    Can't keep up with small frequent meals

    Each surgeon has their own dietary program but the main goal is water and protein. I just consume enough to get my daily protein and haven’t been fixed to any specific number of meals. I do make sure to have a 30 grams of protein shake in the morning which is a combination of PEScience protein powder with 6 oz Ripple pea protein milk and usually 2 oz water. to be honest I don’t usually have lunch. If I have less protein in the morning like a 18 grams protein Koia drink then I might have a BariatricPal juice flavor protein drink mid day. I get the rest of my protein in the evening. @FluffyChixI didn’t know yogurt was considered a full liquid. I have been stuck in liquid phase, yogurt seems to go down easier. I will definitely be getting more. I bought siggis skyr yogurt since it’s the highest protein with the least sugar (plain and I add a little sweet leaf stevia blueberry syrup) Icelandic yogurt only has 3 grams sugar.

    Can't keep up with small frequent meals

    Yogurt is considered a full liquid. So no need to separate it from liquid. I actually thinned mine down to a yogurt soup using protein drink. As @Orchids&Dragons said, you can count liquid protein as part of your fluid intake and don't have to wait. (psst I think 9 meals is ridiculous. LOL. I ate every couple of hours in the early days where I was consuming 1oz-1 1/2oz per meal.) Fluid is KING!!!
  25. Hi everyone! Just joined from Argentina. I had my gastric bypass on June 25th. I am at the stage where every 90 minutes I am supposed to be ingesting something... a protein shake... yogurt... vegetable soup... and for the life of me, I just can't get myself to eat so frequently. Firstly, I am not hungry AT ALL, ever. And secondly, I am so busy with work, and life, and kids, that the day just flies by and maybe out of the 8 or 9 meals I should have had during the day, I had 4. There is also the fact that you can't drink any liquids with these meals, so every time I want to drink something, I remember I am supposed to eat... so I skip the water, do the meal, and the cycle repeats, so I'm barely drinking any liquids too, and I am of course, I am not peeing... maybe once or twice a day. I tried grouping the meals (for instance, I need to do 4 ounce intakes of yogurt, so I did 8 ounces in one sitting), but the doctor told me I am not supposed to do that, because I am forcing my stomach. This worries me, I don't want it to affect my weight loss. Is anyone else dealing with this?
