  1. I went to the ER on friday was extremely dehydrated and potassium super low. But there no short comings that happen for a reason. I was changed prescription and given naseau medicine. Now I am actually eating tiny tiny amounts, but starting to feel human and not so weak. My energy is going up, and want to start taking vitamins now specially B12, D, and A which I am low. Which do you recommend? This is my routine right now. Wake up at 5 am or 6 am: feeling super thirsty I decided to eat first so I don't have to wait the thirty minutes. But I think I should drink first. I found I love infused water much better than plain but has to be ice cold. What do you do when Out and about? I was looking at infusing bottles but they don't keep the water cold. I am still figuring out what to eat, really don't like eggs or yogurt right now which sucks. Got some silken tofu let's see what I do with that. And for everyone that has supported in my last posts thank you so much!

    What is your eating routine?

First things first - if you wake up thirsty - you are thirsty. DRINK FIRST. You can eat later. Your body is trying to tell you something and you are ignoring it. Are you getting enough fluids in? If you were dehydrated, the answer to that is likely no absent an imbalance in your system. I understand the temperature issue - when I was first sleeved, I went through that as well. I found this after a quick search on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/asobu-Flavor-Stainless-Infuser-Classy/dp/B07F5ZJ9JD/ref=asc_df_B07F5ZJ9JD/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309830947124&hvpos=1o13&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7765904790629826689&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007306&hvtargid=pla-582081574514&psc=1 You seem to be about a month or six weeks out from surgery. Are you allowed anything beyond puree's on your plan at this point? I loved Shelly's Ricotta Bake at that stage (still love it.) But there are some great recipes here. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html I'm 2 years out but still start some days with a protein shake because it works for my schedule trying to get out of the house quickly in the morning. I do love both eggs and yogurt so I ate a lot of those during purees. What about tuna or chicken salad? Refried beans? Ricotta or cottage cheese? Creamed soups? Give us an idea of what you are allowed on your plan and we may be able to be more specific with help for you.

    Buys at Costco

How far post-op? First phases: Yogurt, cottage cheese, milk, protein shakes (for me, it was premier protein) Later phases: fish shrimp (shrimp is so good - easy to defrost and you can easily tailor the amount) sargento balanced breaks nut/cheese snack packs string cheese canned veg Tuna frozen fruit Parm chips (sometimes they have single serving bags, sometimes they just have a big bag Veggie burgers
  4. Honestly.....I use no special recipes and don't stress over it. I make dinner for my family and only eat the protien and veggies. If I make spaghetti and meatballs, I only eat the meatballs. chicken, green Beans and potatoes for dinner....I just skip the potatoes. For lunch I usually eat rolled up deli meat, tuna or egg salad or lentil Soup. Breakfast is a Protein drink or greek yogurt. Once you get to solid protein you will feel full on a small amount and if you do not drink to quickly after eating you will stay full for quite a while. You will be fine.
  5. On my doc's nutrition guide, he wanted all protein shakes. But when I had bloating/nausea with them, he said greek yogurt was okay. Generally, carbs should be under a set amount for a day, but realistically, it is okay to have a few if it helps you meet your protein goals. Eventually, you will have to integrate healthy carbs back into your diet, so I wouldn't get this rabid NO CARBS EVER mantra stuck in your head. I value learning to have a healthy relationship with food over religiously sticking to a diet that might not be working for me.

2 yrs since lap band need help

I agree that Zumba is fun and it's an added bonus that it's exercise! I like Dannon (Oikos) Greek yogurt. LOVE the Key Lime Pie flavor. The yogurt has 11 g protein, so that's a good way to start the day. I don't eat it until I have been at work for an hour or so. I just don't eat breakfast as soon as I get up, but I often have an Atkin's protein drink on my drive to work. (Cafe' Caramel) is my fave. I don't drink coffee but It's like my coffee in the morning, on my way to work. (actually made with coffee) and it's giving me 15g protein right there. I sometimes boil eggs earlier in the week so that I have several days worth, to take for breakfast. I usually make it into an egg salad. Easier to eat that way. Sometimes scrambled with a little bacon bits and low fat/fat free cheese. sometimes i put in minced celery to add a few veggies early on.

2 yrs since lap band need help

Stop the protein shakes and eat food. Liquid calories do not keep you full nor is it healthy this long after surgery to still be using protein shakes. Start by having a real breakfast even if its greek yogurt and a real lunch and real dinner.

    Whatcha eating today!!! Thursday

Bfast: coffee with cream, Protein bar Lunch: piece of quesadilla, green salad Snack: yogurt, cookie Snack: another piece of quesadilla Dinner: birthday debauchery at a place called CHOCOHOLIC BUFFET. Yup, promises to be interesting. Doubt I'll eat too much, though - if I eat too many sweets these days, it just makes me feel gross, so I'm bringing some tupperware to see if I can haul some of the loot back home. Workout: day off, but I did join this impromptu 20-min yoga session at lunch.

  12. Omg I am SO with you! I'm 13 days out- full liquids- bit can have yogurt, hot cereals puddings too. My problem is just like yours. Eating fills me so fast! I have zero problems getting my liquids in, though my tummy prefers them to be warm. Room temp water is so-so , therefore I tend to drink more hot tea than anything. Crystal lite is ok. Anyway- I'm supposed to have 3 meals of 4 oz each and drink liquids and protein shakes in between. I much prefer having one meal and upping my protein to make certain I get it all in. It is so darn hard! I felt "real" restriction for the first time today. Trying to get liquids in 30 min after I ate and each sip almost hurt[emoji20][emoji20][emoji20]. Spoke with my NUT today and she said that for now it was ok to do "food" as an in-between and protein shakes as main source. Said it may take a few more weeks for my new tummy to get used to food. She also cautioned me that she did not approve of this as a long term solution. Who knew?[emoji4]

I feel bad cause I've been bad

I had surg on 4-11-08. I doing really good. Felt pretty sore but not as bad as i thought! What did shock me was that about 4 days after i was hungry!! stomach was growling!! But im ok!!! i have had soft pastas and one egg over easy. But very little amounts. My kids eat more than me. Its only been 2wks. I shouldnt be doing softs yet!! I do protien shakes, yogurt, soups, runny oatmeal and jello pudding. all sugar free. Its not bad. I have just started mashed potatoes and egg beaters this weekend. It all went down ok. 14. I was banded on 3/4 and I cheated a little yesterday. I used my pointer finger to scoop up Key Lime Mango Pie. It was so delicious. It was a small piece and I only ate the pudding & whip cream. It was such a pleasure to have some thickness in my mouth besides, BROTH!@$!! I think it even filled me up. I wasn't hungry for the rest of the night. Since my preop I have lost 20lbs. and I keep loosing, I just can't handle the broth clear liquid thing no more. On Tuesday will be 2 weeks post op and I can go FULL liquid diet, which includes creamy Soups and yogurt. But I have a strong feeling, this FULL Liquid diet will begin this weekend, I ll just do it slowly and carefully. I just keep telling myself this is TEMPORARY, you will soon be on solids and on your way to loosing more weight and making nutritious food choices. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

    Pre-Op Diet

I was told the point is to drink liquids/shakes. The liquid process is for the liver to shrink, so that they can perform the surgery more effectively. Additionally, to train you to survive off of liquids post-op. I was told that even though you are on a liquid diet you should still try to drink as close to 1,200 calories as possible. so 3 shakes at 160=480cal. And last thing they also told me that I can have some limited things; like vegetables (once a day), yogurt, cottage cheese. oatmeal, everything has to be plain. no butter, seasonings, salad dressing, sugar, etc. I got a lot of info from the internet also. Search "shrink liver" Lastly, NO soda or caffeine.

    Binge Eating Food Funeral

I'm on my pre-op diet and have 6 lbs left to shed by April 8 th . I have been eating protein bars for meal replacements and they really work well with a cup of coffee . I try to stick to the 200 calorie ones and then I will have a container /!serving of Greek yogurt . I find this makes calorie counting easy .

    Gain 40 Pounds

@WifeyMaterial. Soda and chips? Seriously girl? And you stated you have no energy. Well, soda and chips! Boiled eggs, shrimp (if you are able to) get a rotisserie chicken and keep it in the fridge, cheese sticks, almonds, greek yogurts with sugar free fruit preserves, fat free milk for protein shakes, homemade tuna and chicken salad. Ok, so you see where I'm going with this. Keep these things on hand at all times. Soda and chips.....never! All the best.
  18. Not crazy at all...it is amazing tho! Enjoy it and keep up the compliance. I had to do a 2 week pre-op diet of Protein shakes, sf pudding, light yogurt and Water. Week one post-op was 3 Protein Shakes a day with all the water I could do. Week 2-4 was soft foods (including eggs, flaky fish and deli chicken/turkey. One Protein shake a day and fluids. Week 5 was reintroducing regular foods slowly. No nuts til 3 months. Mine was relatively easy compared to some but I did tolerate everything well and have had no issues. 4 months post op and down 61 pounds since surgery and 91 total from pre-op to now.
  19. I start purees tomorrow as well and go back to work. I have stocked up on baby food (no judgement!! It's easier and convenient, and on SALE!), pudding, Greek yogurt, and apple sauce.

One week post op protein makes me sick

After my surgery I could never drink the protein shakes. I still can't. I am 11 weeks post op. Right after my surgery I barely drank protein. I waited until I got to the puréed stage and I would eat cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, puréed beans, and I even puréed certain meats. I just tried to get as much of those high protein foods in. Skim milk has like 9 grams per serving. I would try and drink milk as much as possible even though I hate it. I still don't get enough protein. I try but I can't only eat so much meat. I have actually began to hate meat. I want to become a vegetarian but I would never get any protein because I can't stand the shakes lol.
  21. At 5 weeks I was still having a Protein drink for Breakfast daily. Lunch/Dinner/Snack Staples that are cheap and easy: Tuna salad, Chicken salad, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, Scrambled egg with cheese, refried Beans with cheese. I found Tilipia and Flounder very easy to digest, and super quick and easy to cook in a skillet with a touch of olive oil and some seasonings. A package of turkey meatballs are very convenient as a meal or protein snack. String cheese, Laughing cow, or sliced cheese with a piece of lunch meat make a great roll-up. Beef jerky is always handy and keeps well. A boiled egg is just about the perfect size for a meal or snack at 5 weeks.

CONSISTENCY *If the food you are eating is keeping you full for 3 or less hours you must increase the consistency/thickness of your food. (Generally when you are on clear liquids and ready to move to full liquids, full liquid to mushy, etc) *If the food you are eating is keeping you full for 4 or more hours your food is at a good consistency/thickness. *As soon as you feel full (this may feel like discomfort in your chest) STOP EATING. Typically, in 30 minutes the food will come up or go down. · Special note: If all you can eat is soft/mushy foods, you are too tight and need fluid out of the band. ADJUSTMENTS · You are ready for an adjustment when you are eating good solid nutritious food (the highest consistency) and it is no longer keeping you full for 4 hours and/or your portions are increasing, and/or you are not losing weight. DAILY ROUTINE · Upon waking drink 20 oz of water (anything 1 calorie or less, no caffeine, no carbonation). The first 8 oz may need to be hot clear liquid. This is also a good rule to apply when preparing your meals. (If you feel pressure/tightness, you need to loosen your band before you eat with hot clear liquids and deep breaths, then repeat water process) · Wait 10 minutes. (low fat chunk cheese, T of peanut butter, nuts, turkey jerky) · Once you get close to your ideal body weight you may have to pay closer attention to your calories. You should not have more than 1200 calories a day. They also recommend when drinking right before your meal to drink/gulp to see if it moves smoothly. This will let you know if you are ready to eat yet. Also, my doctor's office does not recommend snacks.

2nd fill: on the verge of misery

Hey, i know what you mean...EXACTLY. Yesterday i got my second fill. My first fill was almost a month ago, so they gave me an aggressive 3.25cc fill in my 10cc band. I wasn't feeling as much restriction as i felt i should so i scheduled my second fill. This time i was given 2cc and was fine with the Water afterwards, heck i even ate a bit of cottage cheese later that afternoon, but something happened between then and dinner, because when i attempted a little egg salad, it hurt. Then even the liquids were hurting. I tried a little yogurt a while later, no go. More liquids...still that pressure. So i gave up for the night. Now this morning i'm still feeling that tightness and i'm wondering whether, like you, i just get swollen after my fills or whether i am, indeed too tight. Oh, i've since started avoiding spicy foods for that reason. I tried a bite of chicken curry after my first fill..like a day or two later, and it was misery! At least i now know what "sliming" means! hahaha Good luck, chica. As for me, i'm going to ATTEMPT to wait this out over the weekend and hope it's just a bit of swelling.
