Just wondering, I am at almost a year post surgery and I have been at a stall for months now. Has anyone not exercised much and still lost weight? Looking for menu ideas for day to day. I know I need to cut down on my carbs especially bread :-( I still cant eat much at one sitting and I do eat 4-5 times a day from yogurt to protein bars to protein filled meals. Do you eat red meat or did you make the switch to turkey and chicken only? I want to break this stall. I cant do protein drinks mainly because I got burnt out on them from pre surgery and post surgery. The banana one is the only one I can get down these days. I cant do the gym, I am looking into streaming the videos from beachbody.com. Just getting frustrated.

Am I eating too many POPSICLES???
heycrystal2052 replied to Friday205's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I ate sugar free fudge pop's, I usually had one or two a week. Usually to curb my sweet tooth, I'll have a small bit of yogurt w/ granola and almonds. -
So I am almost 5 weeks post sleeve and I am nauseous all the time. I can only tolerate clear liquids still and maybe a spoon or two of yogurt a day. I am getting no protein and no other nutrients really. I have tried every med for nausea known to man and even a sea band. Nothing helps. Has anyone had this experience this far out? I am beginning to worry and now really regret this surgery.

Yogurt (fancy parfait style) or protein waffles
-
for the first 3.5 years my usual breakfast was Greek yogurt - and then Greek yogurt with a few berries or some diced fruit on top. the last few months it's been protein pancakes topped with 1/3 C plain Greek yogurt and either diced fruit and sugar free syrup OR topped with plain Greek yogurt and some homemade fruit compote (made by cooking down fruit with sugar free Torani syrup and adding a little cinnamon and vanilla extract)

Binge eating-14 months after surgery
Andrejeus replied to Andrejeus's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It is compulsive eating;I eat to the point I feel sick.I can throw up(not intentionally)and eat again an hour later.I also can experience the dumping syndrom(not pleasent thing) and eat again later. But the worst happens in the morning:my stomach hurts,I feel nauseated,I can not even look on food, and I emotionally upset.I mean,it is disease, and I have to learn how to control it.I will follow my therapist suggestions(she actually specialized on eating disorders and she used to have one which she successfully overcame). This nutritionist is an idiot!!Honestly,if I up my calories and keep exercising,I will still lose weight(slower though).I am 5'6 and I weigh 141-144(it fluctuates),I am normal not overweight,so if I keep this weight I am actually OK with it.I just want to stop hurting myself. Sometimes I read other people posts and they keep eating 1000 cal even after 1 year after surgery(yogurt in the morning, shake in tbe afternoon, and etc),and I start to feel guilty.I mean, how? But we all have different bodies and issues,so I should stop compare myself with others.Thank you again for all your suggestions and support! Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app -
What shakes are good?
S@ssen@ch replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, I like Unjury products. My preference for them never changed pre and postoperatively, which is saying A LOT. You'll find that you're going to get different answers because everyone's tastes are different. I used Unjury back in my Lap-Band days and always kept some on hand. As I started the process towards the sleeve, I went to Premier Protein ready to drink for the convenience. I liked them well-enough and assumed they'd be OK post sleeve. Boy was I wrong! I couldn't tolerate them at all after surgery. I couldn't stand the taste. I couldn't stand the texture. They were just entirely too sweet for me. I had a few samples from my surgeon. I bought a few things from GNC. Never really liked them either. I went back to the Unjury and there I stayed. In fact, I still have Unjury in my pantry. I don't really do shakes much anymore, but I add it to my yogurt for an extra protein boost. My advice: try lots of brands and types, but be prepared that you may not like the same ones after surgery. And by all means...DO NOT STOCKPILE LARGE QUANTITIES. -
What shakes are good?
Frustr8 replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, my New friend, I have, through things Not All of My Intentions, been on Protein Shakes for nearly an entire full year, started my Liver shrink Diet August 1st 2018, and having had a slower than average RECOVERY because I am Much Older than Average, was 72 years and a little over 8 months for my RNY last September 5th, and we just don't heal as smooth and fast as the Younger ones. I have an extremely cranky pouch of egg-sized gastric flesh whoihave named Precious Pouch. When they did my 1st endoscopy 6 weeks in after much whining , complaining. And burning up their phone wires, it was discovered P.P. had 3 ulcers within herself which led to a stricture of my stoma opening between her and my jejunem plus there were multiple ulcerations in there as well. I have been on Carafate since last October 12th every 6 hours around the clock and the Path has been bumpy. Oh I have lost weight like " Gangbusters" but at what cost? Still hasn't been a final accounting, but I have become a gourmet protein shake drinker, as I STILL do not handle solids well. My Favorites in descending order- keeping in mind I have a Chocolate Allergy and drink plain Vanilla with a gun placed against my temple- I find it thick, white, cloying and tasteless- and I WILL NOT GO there. Strawberry Ensure High protein Max- like it and the new wild Berry. Muscle Milk blueberry Greek yogurt making my own with whey isolate protein powder and 1% or skim milk- whir it up in my Nutibullet with ice cubes, makes it cold and slushy like a real milkshake Glucerna Butter Pecan premiere protein or acts and creme- not quite as fond but it reminds me of those orange circus peanut candies I used to love . The Peach Mango shake stuff Ohio State has, don't know what it's exact name is but had it during immediate post surgery and when I got rehospitalized in late November. a tale THERE too. But of All I have tried that Ensure is hand down the BESt , tastes just like Strawberry Quik without the fakey flakey evaporated milk taste or aftertaste I grew to loathe. A lot of people swear by GNC or Unjury, never had either, refuse to frequent Jeff Bezos mega- Spider Amazon so no I DO NOT HAVE A PRIME ACCOUNT! I have ordered from Bariatric Pal Store, quick delivery, things feared always toward us even more than General Public, although I'm sure they also are welcome! Like the meaning of FUBU, for Us- by Us, that's the true Black meaning, other being F Up Beyond Understanding, and when I get mad at Me-thats where I am At. -

Friday-July 26 5'4" 56 year old female, WLM, 134.8lbs Ok guys, yesterday was a great tummy day. I say "great" cuz I had no big huge pains, rumblies, or you know whats! Woot! And things are kinda looking sorta normal-ish! I didn't notice any difference between the early part of the date only drinking fluids and protein drinks and end of day where I added low fiber food. But the one thing that I'm very dissatisfied with is the number of times I had food or caloric drinks going down my piehole. And I was hungry again all day! I attribute that to the part where the more I eat and the more often I eat, the hungrier I get and also the more carbs I eat the hungrier I am. And I think that my IR rears its ugly head in response to protein drinks via cephalic insulin response, despite being low carb--as well as the true insulin response to the carby pasta I ate last night. So today I'm gonna fine tune the diet and go back <30g carbs and try to eat only on a schedule. So we'll see. I will also just do mostly food today--still trying to stick to small servings. We'll see. But no poopies or cramping means my guts are waking back up!!! Yippeee!!! The crops ahr saved! Here's yesterday's train-wreck: B1-cultured cottage cheese + grk yogurt (plain) + banana protein drink + banana B2-cocomojoe protein latte L-beef bone broth + tropical punch protein drink AS-grilled salmon + linguine + green beans D-bone broth + smoked chicken shreds + green beans + angel hair noodles BS-part of a quest bar + decaff coffee GAH! Make it stop! ROFLMHAO! (click to enlarge...if you dare...) -
July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
alex76 replied to Mom_of_Chaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my RNY on July 3, so I'm almost a month post-op. I'm feeling better each day and learning how to measure and weigh my puree meals. Getting in enough water and meeting my protein goals is a daily challenge, but I'm getting there. I've experienced Dumping once when I mixed original almond milk with a Greek yogurt in my protein shake ( too much sugar for my body), but I'm fine now that I switched to unsweetened almond milk. It's crazy how little sugar I can now tolerate. I'm also battling constipation, so another reason to get all my water in. I've also added Miralax and Smooth Move tea to my diet. It's helping [emoji4] I have zero regrets about going thru with this and look forward to the future with my amazing new tool! Hope everyone's road to recovery is going as well as mine! Ok, I'm just gonna call this "nana" puddin' cuz it tastes as satisfying to me as nana puddin' without a craptastic load of sugar. My doc wants me eating bananas and probiotic liquids or low fiber meals right now to wake up my guts and give my potassium levels a boost. And I'm pretty carb phobic...so it's a baby step thing. This is a blend of plain Greek yogurt with Cultured Cottage Cheese, some PP (bananas and cream flavor), and 1 ounce of banana sliced thin and add a sprinkle of ground cinnamon. Delicious! There were no survivors...(about 1/2c volume) -

Thank yβall, I am following my plan to a t. 1st week was clear liquids, 2nd week is full liquids including yogurt, and pudding. Sf and FF on all of it. I just canβt stomach anything but the Gatorade and water.

I've had to do those low fiber diets before - the main benefit that I could see was that on their recommended list was cinnamon rolls and doughnuts! Yeah, right -- even as far out as I am... Been on the road this week, so that's the delay. Will start with Monday's as that was road food day. pre-breakfast: hard boiled egg (I usually have one first thing before taking the dogs out for their run. breakfast: whole wheat crepes stuffed with greek yogurt and berries on the road lunch/snack: small peanut butter on whole grain seed bread sandwich lunch 2 (sorta like a Hobbit - lunch 1, lunch 2..) small sliced beef and swiss on above bread with spinach leaves and avo slices dinner: southwest style salad - chopped spinach, chicken, cheese, corn, black beans, pepper, scallion, tomato, avo, snap peas, carrot, green beans, sunflower seeds (basically whatever is in the veg drawer)

Gosh your menu at the food festival sounds FABULOUS!! Wait, why do I feel like I already said this? Was the short rib delish?? I love your choices btw! Congrats on your progress and success at 8 weeks! That's fabulous girlie!!! And 13K steps/day very impressive!! I heart runny eggs with avocado. BWLS, avocado "toast" (low carb) + egg was my favorite brekky!! I'm totally stealing this dressing recipe! I have all the ingredients and a piece of leftover salmon from last night! Maybe for dinner tonight! Yay!!! Love the idea of using Greek yogurt to replace mayo/sour cream! Way to make lateral changes to not-so-healthy recipes to make them healthy and deeply nutritious without loss of pleasure/taste!! -

First follow up with Surgeon: Doing well so we advanced my diet to soft phase (eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, ricotta, etc) Port sites healing well, walking enough, drinking fine etc. Told no smoking drinking alcohol, lifting things over 15 lbs. (Don't do any of this anyway π) Side note: Asked the question about prevalence of GERD in VSG patients and was provided with the info that he counsels patients who are considering the sleeve that there is a ~30% chance of GERD developing (~30% chance of no development, ~30% chance of it being reversed through VSG) if there was any history of reflux. I didn't have Reflux regularly prior to surgery only during my first pregnancy He said about 1/3 of people *may* develop it after VSG. I found that really interesting... Has anyone else been provided this type information? Anyways here's the food ive made/tried so far: yogurt, cottage cheese and ricotta bake (everyone else's version featured) -
Hello. Are you sure it is hunger and not an acidy feeling in your pouch? Are you on a proton pump inhibitor? Liquids won't fill you up. Once you can have things like yogurt you will feel better. Please try not to be depressed. You only just had surgery. You need to give your body time to heal. Hood times are ahead. I promise! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
