I love wearing it...it is truly a "symbol" for me even tho no one else sees it LOL -

I have a great NSV!! It may be a little mean spirited, but if you only knew......... Lately I have been feeling those negative mid-life crisis feelings. The ones like I still look bad and I hate getting old.........Well, last night my son showed me some pics of his dad (my ex of many years ago, very bad marriage) The pics were on my ex's step-daughter's web page and were taken this last x-mas. OMG! The man looks like hammered shit! The years have not been kind to him at all! I know it may be a little mean, but I know I have weathered better and that makes me feel so much better!!!!! -

NSV!!!!!!!!! WOOO! Last night I was looking for clothes to wear to work today and buried at the bottom of one of my drawers was one of those pairs of jeans that I bought slightly too small forever ago and maybe fit into for about 5 minutes so even though they're probably something like 7 or 8 years old they still look brand new. Being that before I was in a tight 24 or a loose 26 I didn't these shiny new 20's (small 20's :tt2:) would fit. And as I started sliding them up my legs I thought to myself "You're just setting yourself up for some disappointment. Wait another month or so!" but those 20's kept sliding on all the way up over my butt and lo and behold, the button and the buttonhole were united easily and I jumped for joy and ran around the house screaming like a little girl! I scared my poor puppy. He ran under the bed. And my husband just laughed at me but I could tell he was happy for me  I've been in them all day and they are sooo comfy! -
Awesome NSV. Congratulations. I was a tight size 26 when I started and am now in a 12-14 top and 16 bottom so I know exactly how you feel. Enjoy

OK … entering into 'Onderland' would not be a NSV … so my new #1 is when I can say my size 16s are easy to just slip on and off without unbuttoning them … from there that'll change to 14s … then to 12s … and then … hmmmm … I don't know! I have never been under a 12 in my adult life! -
That's awesome Janet!!!! Sounds like a HUGE NSV and a great day!!

NSV = Non scale Victory! Way to go! The best NSV's are the ones where our significant others are the ones to realize it. Well done!

Anne-- congratulations on your date!!! I'll be counting down right along with you! How wonderful! I was so happy to read your NSV today as well. You must be on top of the world right now. Christie--woohoo! I despise that morbid word---MAJOR kudos to you for the bmi category change!!! What a terrific milestone! Bobbie--have a blast at the retreat. I used to love scrapbooking. Now it seems with 2 kids, 2 jobs, 3 dogs and a husband that's always working, I rarely have time to brush my teeth or shower these days LOL. I hope you have a great time! Betsy--how is Mark? Said more prayers at church this morning, my dear. HB-- I was so sorry to read about the snow! We had a record year here in the Northeast (PA/NJ), so I can relate to your misery! God, I can't wait to see the population explosion at the end of this year from all the snow days LOL Leigha--I'm sure all at once...BAM! 5 more lbs! You have been a freaking weight loss power house, girl! What a great goal you've set for yourself and I have no doubt you will do it! So I was finally able to have mushies today (hey, I'll take it!) I went to church around 10:30, then we went to brunch. I had most of an eggbeater/cheese omelet, a couple bites of potatoes, one piece of wheat toast all without incident. I then proceeded to have a couple of bites of my son's pancakes and was all STOP! Lol. I am thinking it was about 8 or 9 total ounces (which my doc confirmed is just fine). Needless to say I was finished at 1 pm and it's almost 7 and I still haven't eaten anything else. I am thinking I might be at a good place (well today anyway) because I was so starving in between meals before this fill I was just looking for food. Please pray this is "the one" guys. I have about 25 lbs to go until goal and I am so close I can taste it :-)! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Back to the grind on Monday! I took Wed, Thurs and Fri off for my fill appt, 6 months post op appt and school lunch with my son, so I have had a few days off. I soooo don't want to go back!!! -

Good Afternoon, my friends! I'm smiling like crazy today :-) I feel great, the sun is shining here, and I've lost the 4 pounds I gained! Soooo, where to start ... Christie - I'm so sorry you're feeling blue. I don't have children, so I can't honestly say I know how you feel. However, for those of us with fur babies, we DO understand that day we realize our babies arent kittens, or puppies any longer. When did they get so big? When did they grow up? I realize its not exactly the same, but the feeling of Loss, so to speak, is the same. ((HUGS)) oh, rabid pack of chickens? LOL I almost peed myself when i read that !! HB - a size 14 ??? SWEET !!!! I'm SO looking forward to wearing a 14. Because then you can shop anywhere! They're the biggest size in a regular store, and the smallest size in a plus store - the best of BOTH worlds... Congrats! Leigha - DON"T give up the wine! It's your one and only real splurge. Life should be enjoyed. So ENJOY it! I agree that it will just take a bit longer. But this is a lifestyle, remember? You shouldnt pressure yourself with dates, and deadlines... But i doubt you're looking much like a man!! LOL I think you look amazing! :w00t: Hey Bets - how many calories did you end up burning before nightfall?? LOL I had a great image in my head of you - chanding clothes as fast as you can, and literally running around the house, the block, cleaning, yard work, whatever you could muster up to do - all in fast forward motion! It made me giggle outloud ... :smile2: All you BB people - thats so awesome that you all got it and like it. I've been on the fence ever since MIA BOB mentioned it a few months back. I don't have the funds, but i think the tool would be invaluable if used ( for me , USED would be the key word lol ) So i ordered a Fitbit... its the same principle, but less expensive < Fitbit > its smaller also. So, we'll see :-) I'll let you know how it is once i get it. they're on back order until june 15. :wink2: And once again, a big hello and welcome to all the newbies that have joined us !! Where have all the oldtimers gone???? HELLO??? And a big WOOHOO to all the NSV's out there ! I also had one at my scrapbooking retreat. I wore an outfit i wore there just last October, and i swam in it! I didnt realize i had lost 35 pounds since then! And all the gals noticed it :-) it was sooo great for my ego at this time to have some possitive feedback! :tt2: I start my new job on monday ! I've been a grazer the past few months, and really need to get back to the 3 Squares a day ... working 8-5, m-f should be a HUGE help in that department. I'm not one to drink my meals, so I need to ask - is it ok to eat a couple / few hours after i wake up for my first meal? I know we're supposed to eat w/in an hour or so, right? But I just can't have much besides coffee. I was thinking cottage cheese or yougurt around 10 am. Would this throw everything off? I assume lunch will be around 12 or so, and i'll be eating supper between 530 - 630. I'm hoping this will work for me, and Onderland and I will become fast friends :tt1: I'd give anything if we all could meet for a weekend. Find a central spot, and spend a weekend laughing, crying, chatting, sharing and supporting ... just a pipe dream , i guess... :crying: I need to fly to tthe store, Any suggestions on portable breakfast and lunch ideas are welcome HUGS to all today !!!!!! -
Accountability thread for October Bandsters!
LeighaMason replied to kcg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
KCG--How many calories are on this diet your on? Astrasmom-- Yay for only 10 pounds! I think your Dr is right, about the exercise. I personally think that is why the band statistics are like they are, the band helps with about half and exercise does the rest. Txcloverangel-- My twin! 91 pounds is great! Major NSV yesterday. I technically have 5 pounds to go but when I had the surgery in my mind I thought: If I can get to and stay a size 10 I will be satisfied, if I can be a size 8 I would be happy, if I could get to a size 6 I would be thrilled. I thought a size 6 would be best case scenario. Yesterday I bought 2 pair of size 4 Levi's. I cant believe it. I have not worn a size 4 since I was 19 or maybe 20. (I will be 41 next month) I was scared to try on the size 6's because I knew I would be disappointed if they didn't fit, then they were too big! Unbelievable. I am going to get my husband to take a picture of me later today wearing them and post it. No matter what you do, do not underestimate the power of exercise. During the last 10 years I have lost down to this weight with diet pills and Adkins but I was never even close to this size. -

NSV i was able to put on work pants , tuck my shirt in and where a belt.. no stomach hang over -
I'm battling that right now. 3 ccs was too much (4 cc band) and even liquid struggled to get through. I've got 2.5 cc now and as long as I behave myself and chew, chew, chew, I'm fine. Like many, I've eaten on the run and on the go. To me eating was a sprint, not a marathon. I rarely have a day where I don't have something stuck. Somedays are better than others. Some days, it seems like every meal, I have an issue. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not, but I've always had the ability to vomit on command. Even as a baby, I'd have "projecticle vomiting" out of the bassonette. When something is stuck, I simply "dislodge" it and move on. It's easier than putting up with the pain. Now if I could just convince myself to slow down. I'm getting better and it's happening less frequently, but still more often than it should. I can tell as soon as I swallow that it's going to be an issue. Sometimes, I can feel it going through, ableit painful, others, I need to remove it. On the positive side, last week was a good week scale wise. I only made it to the gym once but I did LOTS of work on the barn so did get plenty of exercise. The scale was down 5 pounds since last week. I'm now down 47 pounds in 17 weeks. I'm 18 pounds from my original goal but I think I need to reset that. I'm in the top size slack I wanted to be but I still see WAY too much of me. I figured with my body structure, which is large framed, I couldn't get much lower than a 38 waist slack. Rethinking that now that I'm there. And another NSV. I had to buy new underwear and I bought L. Not only not multiple X's, no X at all! Maybe I'll switch from boxer briefs to thongs! Tom

How is weight loss for people over 50?
crabcake replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's interesting. We didn't have much of that, mostly 60's, 70's and 80's. Although, now that you mention it, I think there was one tape similar to that. It doesn't bother me as long as the beat's pretty good. And we always asked them to change the music when it's not to our liking, mostly due to a slow beat, unless someone objected and I don't recall anyone ever doing that. I think MGIAAG is kind of slow anyway. Ok, I have a NSV (non-scale victory for the neophytes) to share. I knew I'd lost a little and am very close to Onederland. My clothes have been a lot looser, but when I try on the next size down, it's a little snugger that I want to wear. I work at a college and today we had a convocation where faculty march. A few years ago the chapel was refurbished, and whoever the idiot was that put the seats in thought we could just all be mashed together (I mean even the smaller folk aren't that comfortable). Frankly, I'd like to mash his head in one of those tiny little seats :heh: ...but I digress. Anyway, when we march, I usually have to kind of scoot along w/ one foot in front of the other or walk sideways, but today, I could actually walk like a normal person w/out any sidling or scooting! I was so proud I wanted to yell hey, look at me! I'm not as fat as I used to be!!!! :whoo:But, that's what you guys are for!!! Thanks for letting me share. I haven't lost a whole lot, but wow, I was smiling like a jackass eating briers! -

Friday was my 6 month (at 7 months? post op follow up visit. My BP was 110/57 HR was 76 Amy cholesterol 135 overall LDL 43 HDL 85 all other blood panels were in the normal range A1c was 4.1and my body fat is down to 20%! The Dr. was extatic about my results! He said that by far I am his most successful patient at the VA! My skin is healing well I have some loose skin but looks like it is still young and will probably not need to have any removed as it is not hanging and my muscle building will help for it to "go back to normal"! Another NSV is my energy level, my family and are are getting ready to move across country (for me to continue my education I was accepted to Colorado State University) and I have been loading the moving pods all weekend and have done most of the heavy-lifting myself. I am not tired or sore I worked all day both Saturday and yesterday and was like the energizer bunny, I just kept going and going. -

I had a couple NSV tonight. I want to a class at my church and ran into an old friend (hadn't seen in 15 years). I got a "you look great...haven't changed" if she only knew. I love the idea that I'm back where I was 15 years ago! Oh, and I sat in the meeting and crossed my legs...1st time in 14 years (before my last baby).
