Some recent NSV's: 1. I fit in an airplane seat without my butt squishing onto the next seat. lol 2. I put on a pair of size 16 jeans and they fit!! (I started at 24) 3. My boss and co-worker keep telling me how jealous they are of my hourglass figure and how they wish they had a tiny waist like mine.

I ran into a few people at work that I hadnt seen in a long long time......Some comments that were made to me.... * " Where's the rest of you???" * " If you lose any more weight you're gonna blow away." * Hey-"look at you- skinny-minny" From personnel ( we have to have our pics posted) * " We need to update your picture- the one up doesn't even look like you" She was very right! But I dug out my FIRST pic..... and OMG. I didn't know it was me...... was a SHOCKER!! I smile and really don't know what to say to some comments. not sure if it's a good NSV or not.....:thumbup1::lol0:

Carol Quabeck Boyer replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just had my first NSV....We had a death in the family, so I had to go shopping for something to wear to the Funeral. Before surgery I was a size 22/24. The dress I just bought was a size 16!!!!!! -
OMG I am so Em BARASSED.... literally the last part...
Bettina replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Rants & Raves
I don't know, I'd call it a NSV myself. I'd personally be thrilled to lose so much weight that my pants fall...lol. Congrats on the weight loss!! -
I forgot a few NSV's. So on my flight to CA I almost missed my flight I had to run from security all the way to the farthest gate (of course) last year I would have missed the flight but I was able to run the full length & made it!! I also did not need an extension seatbelt and I didn't get that "your too obese to fly" look. I enjoyed my flight for the first time in 7 yrs!!

Chrissy, that's an awesome NSV! You must feel so good and should be proud of yourself for all your hard work. I have a job interview tomorrow, wish me luck, and thought I had some slacks I could still wear in the closet. Good thing I tried them on because they were 18's and they were swimming on me! All 3 prs! I ran out to SteinMart and was able to get into a 14 but right on the edge of being a little too tight so I went with the 16 and that was ok. They were a totally different cut of slacks, not like Lane Bryant's forgiving curves, they were all more straighter but with a little curve so I was pleased with that.Actually didn't mind going shopping and trying on clothes. Oh yeah, I had an NSV the other night. I flew home from South Carolina Saturday night. This was the first time since I flew 2 weeks before surgery and I was able to sit in the seat with room to move around and I was in the middle seat between two strangers!!! No bumping into them feeling like I was spilling over into their space to boot! I know others' here can relate to this NSV as a major accomplishment and a comfortable one at that. Like you Chrissy, exercise is key for me. Even though I felt active without working out, I could see my body becoming flabbier where it was once starting to tone up. I also made some poor choices last week with eating. Found out I can eat one of my favorite past times without any problems, Cheez Doodles! Ate a bag in two days instead of finishing it in one sitting. Not good. Oh well, I think I got them out of my system for now. Not bad after not having them for 7 months. Anyone else here have some of their old favorite's rearing their ugly heads to entice us lately>

It was my turn at work to be the weekly meeting's "door greeter" today. I work with about 100 people and many hadn't seen me in months. I had no less than 5 people say "You've lost a lot of weight have'nt you?" and "You look slim and trim!" Happy NSV for me!

Tiff....... I can relate to the car seat thing andddddddd........ I also just out of "curiosity" pulled my seat all the way up and my belly still did NOT touch the steering wheel!!! AWESOME!! I got an unusual NSV... I was out in the local bar last week... and this guy was talking to my friends daughter and she has seen my before pics and still can't believe I was ever that big..anyway we got to talking weight and I just blurted out I was damn near 400 pounds........... I think I did it for the "shock" factor......he said NO WAY....... and I said.. yes. I am a fat girl.... and my friends daughter said yes I seen the pics.. but she's not now but you can't convence her she is skinny....... My head is still a "fat girl"...... I am still having trouble with it. How can I feel so good? and still think I am fat? I remeber you saying how you seen "light" between your legs when you put them together......... When I stand up and put my feet together....... I can't even get my knees to touch each other! I see LOTS OF LIGHT!! I know I still have 20 pounds to go to.. and wonder where it will come from.. I havn't been "working" my sleeve........ I hope I didn;'t get too comfortable where I am... or maybe my body is just telling me I will always be a "big girl" I am 5'8" and very big boned... but everyone is telling me I am "tiny".... I am so mentally confused......

My latest NSV has to do with my dancing. I have posted that I started ball room dance classes last September. They are so much fun. Lately after our Wednesday lessons, a group of us have gone to a bar so we can dance some more. I have never been big into bars and I don't drink but I do love to dance. The past few times I have gone, I am not even in there 5 minutes before I have some guy wanting to buy me drinks and asking me to dance. This just seems so odd to me. Years ago when I use to go out, I felt like the biggest wall flower sitting around watching everyone else have fun.

In order to help me stay focussed to goal, I joined a fitness class yesterday, which meant I got weighed in and then had a motivational talk, and did 45mins aerobics. I am RUBBISH at exercse, I hate it, I avoid it, and become incredibly embarrassed having to wobble around in front of others, so whilst worrying about all of this I managed to wander into the "HIGH IMPACT" half of the class - this is my frst aerobics class in at least 10 years, so I realised I was trapped and about to be humiliated - GREAT!! Anyway after a couple of minutes embarrassment I look around a realise that I am actually doing well, I'm working hard, but its not killing me, I'm working up a sweat, but I am not woofing like a walrus just to get my breath, and before I knew it the class was over, I'd high impacted my way through it without a hitch! MASSIVE NSV! I held my own, had fun, and at the end the instructor came up to me and said "wow Claire, I can really tell how often you must work out, you were great!" - I didn't have the heart to tell her that I move less than your average sloth most days! Needless to say I'll be going back next week

Here are my NSV's 1. I can share clothes with my sisters again! 2. I can fit into a park swing 3. I can wrap a towel around my body 4. I can cross my legs! (just a little though) hehe 5. I feel more energetic 6. I am more confident 7. My 11 year old son can finally wrap his arms around my waist (by the way, most of his friend don't recognize me since the surgery. A couple of them have walked right by me without noticing whose mom I was. It's cute to see their shocked expressions when they realize it's me!) 8. For some reason, my memory has very much improved!

I loved reading this thread. It is so encouraging. Even though I just learned what a NSV is, I had a great one this week. (My surgery date was 3/16/10 and am down 42 lbs) The last time I saw my cardiologist was in November to talk with him about the sleeve and get cleared for surgery. He totally supported the idea, but I could tell he did not think I would follow through. He was so pleased when I saw him the other day. After telling me that I need to stop one of my meds because my blood pressure was too low, he told me that "MY HEART WAS HAPPY"!!!! I love my sleeve!:willy_nilly:

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log
Kiap82 replied to RunningA5K's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't wait for that moment! I can't even remember the last time I could cross my legs comfortably. It's gotta be more than 10 years. Congrats on that awesome NSV!! -
Okay I finally have another NSV moment! So My sister and brother in law were in town for a few days, and I had not seen my brother in law in about 8 months. We sat around visiting for awhile, then I excused myself to use the restroom. My brother in law says to my sister "WOW she is skinny" So of course my sister tell me as soon as I got back from the restroom, I went straight across the room and gave my brother in law a kiss!!! I sure love that man!!! Made my whole day, week, month!! Have a great day!

OMG I am so Em BARASSED.... literally the last part...
mousecrazy replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Rants & Raves
Keep your tickets! Most of them were probably too drunk to remember anyway! LOL! Think of it as a very firm reminder that you MUST buy new clothes! You are going to lose weight very steadily, so you will need to have the basics in your new sizes...I didn't lose so fast that I felt I didn't get to wear my new clothes long enough...and it's better than losing your pants at a football game! Thanks for the great story, and I do think it's an NSV! -
Hi all! Checking in with some NSVs! We went on vacation to Myrtle Beach 2 weeks ago and I didn't gain anything! I was conscious of what I ate but I didn't limit myself (red velvet donuts are delicious!) but I still didn't gain. In my pre-band life we'd be talking a minimum gain of 5 pounds! I also wore a 2 piece bathing suit! Probably to the horror if the rest of the resort, but who cares! I'm okay with my stomach, my thighs and arms are my trouble zones and they would have been a problem in a one piece! This weekend I'm doing my first 5k! I won't be running, but I'm still amazed I signed up! I'm surprising my best friend in NC who was just diagnosed and treated for breast cancer; I'll be walking on her team. Also - my parents were up this past weekend for a quick visit. I saw them in June and had lost 35 pounds, but I'm up to 73 now. My mom said if she had passed me in the mall she wouldn't have even recognized me! Is that good or bad??? Ha! I think I'll be okay for the holidays. I really feel my restriction and try to avoid at all costs the pain I get from overeating. Does anybody else get "ice cream headaches" when they eat too fast? I get pain at the band but also a horrible forehead headache if I cram it in! I'm okay with a bite or 2 of DH's dessert. We'll see how it goes though.

Hi Ladies! Just got back from a beach trip to Hilton Head and I'm leaving for another 11 day vacation starting Thursday. Lucky me - two vacations, back to back. Great for the mind, but bad for my body. I went with a couple of friends and we were all in vacation "eat whatever we want" mode. So I gained a few pounds over the weekend. I'm back on track today, however I will be vacationing and eating out for 11 days straight, I know I will gain a few more pounds. I am such a slow loser, but a fast gainer. Does not seem fair! Anyway, MY birthday goal, which is only 9 days away, is to drop the extra few pounds I gained over the weekend and not gain anymore on the next vacation, and hopefully drop 2 more pounds (total of 4 pounds in 9 days???). I want to get down to 213 and I am at 217 today. Maybe it's liquids for me for a few days to kick start a loss. Anyway, I will check in to see how everyone is doing with my birthday goal. Let's hope the birthday girl meets her goal. Oh, almost forgot my NSV ....... I really liked one of the vacation pictures taken of me, so I posted on Facebook and received LOTS of awesome comments and likes. Made this soon to be 49 year old grandmother of two feel wonderful. Can't wait till I gt to goal and start posting some full body shots!

whew! What a Saturday...busy busy. Hi everyone! Well...I've decided that I am definitely at restriction. Just made taco salads for everyone for dinner. I measured out a 1/2 cup of the beef mixture. Added a tbsp of salsa, tbsp of sour cream, tbsp of sliced black olives and just a few tortilla strips. I really didn't think it added up to that much but it must've been a full cup of food. Oh my word...I am absolutely stuffed!!!! But I'm also satisfied with that. 8 months ago...I would've gone back for another cup full. Today was 1/2 price day at Goodwill, and DH and I both had OT on our paychecks this week...so we went shopping. Well, I shopped more than he did. LOL. We went to two GW stores. I came home with three kitchen towels, two toys & a t-shirt for my son, a t-shirt, golf shirt and a pair of LEVI's for the DH, a pair of slacks, 4 skirts and 6 blouses (one of which can be worn like a jacket also). I didn't spend over $45!!! But the big "WAHOO!" NSV of this day is....all of the clothes I bought were 14's!!! You have no idea how long it has been since I've worn a freakin' size 14! I still have 17 pounds to go for my primary goal. I'm now thinking to myself that I might actually see a size 12 again!

Hello ladies! In one week, I will have a fill! I find myself counting down to it, just like I was counting down to surgery! Did I mention I can eat like I did before too?! AAAAGH! I did have a fabulous NSV today, though...was finally able to buy some Alex and Ani bracelets, as they no longer look ridiculous on my fat (no longer as fat) wrists! I got one for each 5 lbs I lost...which came out to 4 bracelets...and I'll be due for a new one soon!!

NSV shout outs
BigGirlPanties replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
found this post and LOVING it... about halfway thru all the NSVs.... so I'd like to add of few of mine: 1. was able to cross my legs was HUGE when I realized I could do that...but I was able to cross them in a movie theater and had room!!! 2. the pants falling down issue happened with me too, my new friend-a belt!!! I never used one before. 3. smaller EVERYTHING... donated to GW and cleared out closet...the other day I was wearing one of my newer blouses and my friend told me to get rid of it, it's too big and made me look frumpy! I'm sure there have been many more, but just being able to walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath speaks to the healthier side of me...LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!! -
I'm 25 days post-op and these are my first NSV's: - 7" gone from my waist - 5" gone from my hips - two people at work did a double take when they saw me last week - two people have called me out for wearing clothes that are "too big" - I can see my collar-bone I'm sure there will be more to come... lovin the sleeved life!
