  1. Hi, Wow Janette, thin enough to slide past, how wonderful! I am not sure about NSA or NSV, but I thought if A stood for Advantage, then it should be A. I have posted two new pictures from today, and two from the day before my surgery. I can't quite believe it myself, I don't seem recognisable even to me. Take care Claire

    Isn't it Ironic

...on this same topic...a little NSV...is I can get matching bras and underwear...no one sees it but me (and my hubby), but it feels SO good! Anyone else feel "good all under"?

    Isn't it Ironic

I also have gone back to makeup, nails done, and hair cut stylishly. I wear dresses at work because I look nice in them again instead of looking short and fat with tree trunk legs. It's not about vanity. It's about taking care of ourselves. I don't do this for anyone but me. Yes..I know I'm being looked at and I know that I'm getting attention both male and female but that's just the perks. I feel good about me and that's what counts. Keep on getting those nails done GF and remember that this is a huge NSV.

    Tampons!

Okay ladies, I hope I'm not the only one who had this NSV lol, but using a tampon used to be a struggle for me to get around my big stomach! (When I actually had a period) I'm down a total of about 50 lbs from my high weight, 26 since surgery, and it has made this and so many other things easier! I also did the dishes without having to lean over the sink with my back killing me! Woohoo

I hid my scale this week to concentrate on some NSV's. It is time to give up some tops, the neckline drops below my bra at not the best of times☺️

I think I have a few pics, I'll try to add them later on. I do have some awesome new NSV's too. Thank you for your encouraging words

Funny how many things were sized to us and need resizing! Great NSV.
  10. That's a NSV Janice and much more satisfying than the number on the scale. Please remember not to compare yourself to others. If you do, you will always find something lacking in your journey. It's your weight loss journey and it will come off however it comes off. Also...you did not get large overnight and you won't get small overnight either. Just follow your doctor's directions, eat healthy, exercise, and you will get there, I promise.
  11. Happy 4 wks everyone. How's everything going? Officially hit the 30lb mark and having many more NSV which to me has been even better lol. I was never much of a numbers girl (until that number was too big) so those sometimes motivate me more than the scale does. Anyone taking weekly pics? That has helped as well. Hope everyone is doing well!

    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

Just wanted to share a new NSV from this morning. I've been using short handled pocketbooks lately because I don't need to keep a hand free since I don't use the cane anymore. But I still have plenty of shoulder bags so I switched my stuff out last night for a bag I haven't worn in several months. I put it over my shoulder across my body this morning and the darn thing dangled low at my hip. Huh? Oh yeah...the strap doesn't have to go across the same expanse it used to. LOL. I made the strap as short as possible and now it's back at the waist where it belongs. These unexpected NSVs are so much fun!

@Mayaresearchmom - THAT IS AWESOME! You need to post that in the NSV too!!!

    And So Our Journey Begins...

It has been...14 days since my last update. My 3 month surgiversary was on the 24th and I hit 50 lbs down!!! What a difference my entire life is from 3 months ago to today. I'm adding an updated photo for comparison. I'm still sometimes making some eating mistakes, for example eating too fast, But it is very few and far between. I pretty much eat whatever I want, but I concentrate on protein. The guy I'm dating really takes my eating habits into consideration when choosing restaurants and activities and so do all of my friends/family. Went to a party this past Friday and I did drink. I'm not a big drinker to begin with but I had this surgery to live a fuller life and sometimes that includes alcohol, I got pretty drunk, and it didn't take as much as it normally would but it still took a decent amount. I have found that I get a buzz fairly easily, but it is very short term. Just had a big NSV for me, I just spent the last hour going through my closet to pick out a cute skirt/legging/boot outfit and I actually had fun. I normally would try on outfits and feel completely annoyed, but now I feel optimistic and guess what?! I don't hate my knees anymore!! I was trying the skirt on the shorter side and I loved how it looked. I'm starting to get some really nice legs, collar bones, and shoulder blades. I have leaner ankles/feet/wrists and I'm happy with my progress. 50 lbs in 3 months and you can really see it. I am happy everyday that I chose this.

Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?

I love reading these!!! My recent NSV's are: my son being amazed that my legs are "straight"! He actually was checking out my legs the other day and said "Mom, your legs look so great, you used to have bumps, but look how straight they are!" LoL! I also had to buy new dress shoes and tennis shoes because my feet aren't as fat anymore! I've put about 3 pair of slacks and several tops in the Goodwill pile...YAY!!! And I'm wearing clothes that I haven't worn for years! The best one yet though, my girlfriend's husband called me "Slim" the other day! This is soooo fun!!!

    numbers

I'm one of those folks who reminds people that we are more than numbers and to focus on NSVs during our weight loss journey. But even I am speechless this morning. I weigh myself weekly just to stay accountable. Yes...I know when I've eaten well and when I've not, but the number on the scale reinforces what I already know. Since I don't let the number rule my outlook for the day, or even the week, I am OK with the weekly weigh-in. Well...got on the scale this morning and it said 119.2. I had to look at it for a few moments because I couldn't take in what I was seeing. I'm under 120 lbs. That's unbelievable. The very first time I went to WW, I was 15 and 127 lbs. I got down to 113. I was 125 lbs. when I got married and have never been close in all the years since. Oh...I got down to 150 in the early '90s but of course ballooned back up again. Yes...I know it's just a number but it's also a watershed moment for me. I've accomplished something I never thought I would. I'm as small as I was as a teenager. I'm not a teenager though... My skin is terribly wrinkled and I only look good with my clothes on and in long sleeves and pantyhose. I hide the flaws same as anyone would. But...I'm alot smarter than a teenager now and feel that I'm mature enough to make good choices in my life and find future success in ways I thought impossible just two years ago. If all goes as planned, I will be visiting my sister-in-law in China over Christmas. Imagine that...me going to the Far East. Was a time I couldn't hardly walk and now I'm going to the other side of the world. I'm dating again. It's scary for sure, but I'm starting to get comfortable enough with my body that I can appreciate what others see. Not always mind you, but sometimes... It's still a work in progress. Mostly I'm just grateful and happy to be mobile, healthy, and appreciate my life. I give all the credit to the band because that's where it started. Have a great Monday everyone.

only lost a pound and stalls...

if you are able to walk.......that is a NSV if you can wipe your ass.....that is a NSV if you can put your own socks on.....that is a NSV if you can sit on a chair or bed no longer fearing it breaking...that is a NSV these are some of my personal NSV's after i had WLS i did not care what the scale said (still dont as i go by losing inches/clothes getting bigger on me) i did not care if i ever got to be a size 2 i wanted to be able to do those things merely WALKING without fear of passing out due to heavy breathing merely sitting down somewhere not being scared the chair would break (like in the movie shallow hal) trust me, those NSV mean a lot MORE than a stupid ass number on a scale when you go from wearing a TIGHT size stretch 30 to a snug 12/14 ......you understand when inches lost means losing TRUE weight... only lost a pound? how about being able to live comfortably its about health not about being skinny or a size...

    NSV shout outs

Went shopping with my bestie today. Headed straight for the size 12 pants even though the size 12s I already own are loose. I just couldn't imagine that I could wear anything smaller, so I wasn't even going to try on a smaller size. Well, guess what? The size 10s were a little loose, too! This is a literal NSV because I made this discovery in a week in which I lost no weight.

    NSV

My sister is obese and she used to complain that she was getting fatter because I wasn't eating all my food and she was eating hers and some of mine when we would go out to dinner together. But last night, she suggested we share the entree as it was part of the dinner menu so it included Soup or salad along with two side dishes. That and the free stuff like pickles and cole slaw was plenty for her and more than enough for me. If I can change her eating habits for the better, even if it's once in a while, that makes me happy. Is this then considered a NSV?

    Feet!

I've been wearing 11s for a while, but I think I was really a 10 1/2 wide. Now 10s usually fit. This is beyond feet, but I bought some boots last week - and not wide-calf! That was a total NSV for me.

    NSV shout outs

I finally can cross my legs!!!woohoo!! It actually happened unintentionally during discussion with colleagues and I just realized it a few seconds later that my legs were crossing! I was like, whao! What I'm I crossing my legs? Almost forgot the work lol I usually don't sit crossing legs even when I was thinner, but now I'm like a crazy woman, I cross my legs every chance I get because I CAN!! LOL PS I showed my husband my leg crossing NSV and he was a bit surprised because he didn't know that I couldn't cross my legs when I was fat.

Ok I'm wearing a size 12 this morning!

Nothing to be sorry about. A NSV Is a Non Scale Victory.
