  1. I don’t eat beef so I use ground turkey for everything. The lettuce I would leave out for a while but you can have ground turkey at soft foods. I had many of my usual recipes with ground turkey. Turkey chili, turkey taco meat in a soft flour wrap etc. I am not a person that rarely purchases premodern foods but I did buy the precooked grilled fajitas chicken from Sams or aldi as they are great for throwing a little bit in microwave with a slice of cheese. Or microwave till cooked. Put on a flour tortilla with cheese and put in the air fryer till cheese melted. I buy the small flour tortillas and don’t eat it all in one sitting. It’s still soft and so good to have real food. I also use the little slider buns for lunch meat or grilled chicken and usually share the last bites with my dog. As he is loving my surgery. Lol. I am six weeks out from surgery tomorrow and honestly it doesn’t feel like I had surgery. I just eat less and no complications. Only issue is if I don’t eat something later in the evening I can wake up from being so hungry. So I usually have a yogurt or shake in the evening.

    Food Before and After Photos

Ok, so I'm trying chia seeds to see if my guts are behaving after taking a little break this week. I have a current love affair with "yogurt chia pudding" of any flavor profile. But this current one is peanut butter slim powder with strawberries and cream PP + Greek yogurt (plain) and chia seeds. Mix it all up, let it sit until chia swells into delicious crunches and enjoy. Bought some Reese's Reddiwhip with great hopes and was sadly disappointed so now am just trying to use it up. It works here...Love this! I don't anticipate survivors, but this is very much like a pbj sammich minus the bread! Totals 183cals; 19g protein; 7g fat; 12g carbs; 5g fiber; (7g net carbs); 4g sugar
  3. I’ve seen some hospital webpages say only clear liquids for up to 2 weeks after the sleeve! My surgeon said clear liquids the first 2 days, then full liquids starting on day 3 if I can tolerate it. Nonfat Greek yogurt is the thickest full liquid on the list of full liquids. I’ve been eating the Greek yogurt since day 3 and it stays down. Takes me about 3-4 minutes to eat a 5oz container.
  4. wow! I am same as you and the Dr, has me on no shakes or yogurt…… Lucky lol
  5. I had mine August 8 and yogurt is on week three of the gastric sleeve but if you had the gastric bypass it is on week 2.
  6. We can have yogurt on the liquid diet. Did you have the sleeve or bypass
  7. I'm 5 days post-op, and I've been hitting my protein goal (70g) with 2 premier protein shakes per day, plus 2 light and fit greek yogurts.
  8. Yes, you can put it in just about anything. I haven't tried it in eggs (there is a good protein balance in eggs already) yet but I have put it in ricotta bake/soup and didn't get a bad taste. Triple zero yogurt has about 16 grams of protein as well as 20 grams of protein in premier clear drinks. I have a good supply of that now. There is a buffalo chicken dip/avocado & spinach dip I love at Publix's I intend to eat a little of during the mush stage that has about 7/9 grams of protein as well. I have been scoping out different items for past 3 months. Make a green smoothie and add protein powder!! That's a great source of protein with spinach, a few frozen berries & hemp seed for energy! Keep us posted with your progress love ; )
  9. CONGRATS to you on the 29 pound drop!! AWESOME! As for the protein intake, try putting some protein powder into your yogurts, cottage cheese and soups (attach is brand I use). I also purchased several broths, soups on this site that included a good bit of protein. I'm sure more sleevers will offer other suggestions shortly. Keep losing and I will be joining you soon!!!!
  10. Feeling hungrier. I put some light whipped cream on jello, but my stomach didn't like it. I'm guessing because of all the air in the whipped cream. Still living on yogurt, protein shakes, and Gatorade Zero. I've tried broth a couple times, but hot liquids just don't taste good to me right now.

    Pre op diet!

I begin my pre op diet next Thursday. This is all great information. Thanks so much for sharing. Is anyone allowed to have greek yogurt?
  12. I came home last night (8/15) and showered. Now adjusting to life again. Sip sip sip is right! I thought I would be so stoked for something other than liquids...so far no desire for food or liquid of any kind! I am hoping to try thinned yogurt in the morning.
  13. I’ve had no trouble keeping clear or full liquids down, and I’m tolerating nonfat Greek yogurt, jello, and V8. I actually consumed almost 600 calories today with no discomfort, and I’m starting to feel hungry again, which worries me...

    JULY SLEEVERS

Hi, that is wonderful! You are doing great! I had my sleeve July 8th. I am on the regular bariatric diet / no restrictions. I don’t have any problems eating or drinking. Sometimes it is har dot get all the fluids if I forget to keep drinking. I stalled from weeks 3 and 4 (I only lost 4lbs those weeks) which the nurse practitioner said was normal and some even gain a pound or two. I was told I should lose between 8 and 10lbs a month and that’s about where I am at. I really feel normal for the most part and sometimes forget I had the surgery. I do eat mostly protein, the triple net zero Oiko’s Greek yogurt and I also have a premier protein shake a day. I also mix in protein powder in my crystal light. I weigh myself constantly too which I shouldn’t. Lol

    5'7ft 130 pounds, starting at 280 pounds.

My surgeon said 65% excess weight would be lost if you do nothing. No exercise. So, I exercise my ass off. I work out 5 times per week. I push myself out of my comfort zone routinely. I hired a trainer, I do spin classes, I do yoga, I go hiking, I am constantly looking for ways to sweat. I added in several athletic performance supplements to my diet. I also follow an extremely strict diet; much more strict than is "necessary" for bariatric patients. However, I also get sick VERY easily so it's a mixture of me purposely being strict and me just getting really ill from basic foods. I do not eat complex carbs at all. I do not eat sugars (except naturally occurring). I do not really eat any fruit. I buy everything reduced fat, low sugar. I eat well under 40g of carbs a day and always hit at least 90g of protein. I typically stick to BariatricPal Lite Entrees for lunch during the work week. I eat the same thing almost every day of the work weeks. Yogurt, jerky stick, BP meal, light snack, cottage cheese or turkey patty. I take a ton of vitamins - about 15 different ones. I convince myself that if eat the wrong foods it will cause dumping so I never even put it in my mouth to try it. And it probably will cause dumping for me because virtually everything makes me ill. I consider this a positive, however. I look at food as a chore necessary to live now. I was never given a goal weight. I arbitrarily picked mine. I compared myself big time to others in the beginning; it was really depressing. Once you FEEL good... you're there.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

On the food topic, I personally stayed away from sugar up until a couple weeks ago (aside from yogurt in the morning). I was scared to try anything with a large amount of sugar for 2 reasons... 1, I would have dumping syndrome, 2, I wouldn't and that could be a slippery slope. Needless to say I was out at an event and they had ice cream there and I since I was heading home I decided to have a small chocolate cone. I had no issues. Slippery slope here we come, I was out at another event and they had baked goods and I thought, hey I had the ice cream I can have a few of these too, so I bought them and brought them to a friends to share with her. I didn't have that much but I was in a world of hurt not long after, so sick, no dumping. I had to leave her place and rush home, thinking I would have to pull over at any time and another weird thing is I was yawning a lot. By the time I got home I had to lay down with a cold cloth on my head and just breathe until it passed which was about 45 mins or so. So now I am back to being scared of sugar which is probably for the best.

    Trader Joe’s favorites!

I posted this list a while back ago: They have tons of hummus and an eggplant dip that is basically baba ghanoush, (and is low cal) Their Kettle Cooked Chicken Soup tastes homemade, but has significant chunks of chicken in it. It's in the refridgerated section near the premade wraps, fresh pasta etc. Check the date, it's always super short coded near me Their Plain Greek Yogurt 0% Fat, in a 32 oz container (blue) is really high protein. Downside it tastes really really yogurt-y. They have individual size flavored yogurts that are similar to Oikos triple zero I like their Soy Ginger Cod in the frozen section & their Argentinian Red Shrimp Love their Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Soup, in an aseptic box. Other soups in that area are good too, like Chicken and Wild Rice and Split Pea (Miso in the box is terrible). Lots of people love the butternut squash, but I find it a little sweet. For a sweet treat, their Latte Bars are only 40 cals, in the ice cream section. Frozen Gyoza, chicken and pork aren't too bad calorie wise, and hit the spot for an asian craving. Chicken Cilantro mini wontons are also delicious (doesn't really taste like cilantro though) Frozen meal of Fish Korma and Chicken Tikka are at or near restaurant quality. Not bad if you don't eat the rice. Their Traditional Marinara sauce is the lowest cal I've seen, tastes great. Turkey Meatballs are good. (Frozen) Egg white protein powder is a good flavorless mix in, but doesn't blend great Green Godness salad dressing in the refrigerated section near the bagged salad is good Precooked steamed beets are good. (near salad mixes) Jarred pickled beets are good (might be seasonal) They have interesting, well priced season grinders or shakers with the spices to jazz up our sometime unexciting food Mahi Burgers and Lime Chili Chicken burgers. low cal and high protein, good to eat on their own. That have lots of varieties of chicken & turkey sausage
  18. Today Breakfast 1 egg, 3 slices of bacon, and 1 package of grits. I was too full and could not drink for 2 hours. Lunch cantaloupe and cottage cheese Snack Chobani key lime yogurt Dinner will be Tyson chicken fried steak patty baked, mashed potato 1/4 cup , and peas. Like before I wont be able to eat all my dinner and will save for later tonight. Calories hit around 1200

    Protein shakes

I would probably prefer to pour the ready to drink shake into my blender & add a cup of greek lowfat yogurt to thicken it a bit.
  20. I think if it isn't too inconvenient for your to take the time to post this, that THIS type of information is completely vital and useful to vets, sophomores, and newbies alike! Cuz we can "see" what someone is eating at X point in their life post surgery. That is so vital to make sure we're on track! I am gonna continue posting my quantities cuz I do it anyway and record it in MFP, so maybe it will help someone see that you can "usually" eat in a controlled manner and still get TONS of healthy nutritious food. But not everyone does that normally (tracks) and that's OK too. We want EVERYBODY here, even if they don't weigh/measure and only say things like: b-protein coffee msnack - Oikos cherry yogurt l-tuna sandwich (1/2) snack - gs apple + peanut butter d-don't know yet Just my opinion!!!!
  21. I bought unflavored protein powder and add it to soups, yogurt, purΓ©es. That had been helping tremendously in trying to achieve my daily goals. I went to GNC and bought Genepro. They were very nice and helpful to find the right protein that would work for me.
  22. Today I am having Breakfast 1 egg scrambled and 2 or 3 slices of bacon Lunch 3 oz stuffed pork chop and asparagus ( last night leftovers ) Dinner teriyaki chicken with rice ( 3 oz chicken, 1/4 cup rice, 3 to 4 pineapple chunks ) If I have a snack it will be Chobani key lime yogurt and/or almonds. If I cant finish a meal ( which happens a lot still ) I go back and finish it later. Totaling everything up with the yogurt I am hitting 841 calories. 72 carbs 29 fat 71 protein . Sure does seem like this should be more than 841 calories and this is why I quit tracking. I would make sure I was getting in 1200 to 1500 calories and my weight would stay 10 to 15 pounds heavier then I am now when I tracked. I quit tracking this past Christmas and I still get my protein, so I happy.
  23. Things to have with you: cottage cheese, yogurts, soft cheese, broth cubes, eggs (microwaved eggs are easy and quick!) Eating out: Hummus plates minus the pitas etc (if allowed) always eggs (if tolerated), yogurt, smooth soups, etc. Take a strong look at you plan then double check by calling you NUT/Team to see exactly all the variation of foods you can nave at thos stage tell them you are traveling for work and NEED suggestions. Good Luck πŸ’œ
  24. 3oz Greek yogurt with a squirt of sugar free vanilla Torani syrup. It was damn delicious!

    Starting Purees today!

Until you have your poopy stuff figured out...stay far far far away from cheese! Seriously. I just sauted them gently in a pan with a TINY bit of olive oil. Kept them wet but above 165degrees for safty. Took them out and ate them. You can add a spoon of Greek yogurt or sour cream at the end to keep them moist. Add nutritional yeast for a cheese flavor.
