Banded Today
JerseyShoreDisneyDiva replied to JerseyShoreDisneyDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, yes you all were right. I did get enough pills to last me several days. I just wound up taking one. Hopefully, they will make me drowsy and will fall asleep. Maybe this is TMI but I have been peeing so much because of the IV fluids and every time I finally get comfortable in my chair, I have to get up to use the bathroom. I just had a really nasty protein shake (chocolate mint) but of course I am still hungry, lol! The shake was just a sample I purchased. Thank God it wasn't a big container. -
Post Surgery - Tom Came Waaay Early!
Boofster posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't believe it...my monthly friend has arrived only 18 days after my last one. I was sleeved on 11/19. Guess those hormones are all out of wack - hopefully this means that the fat burning has begun (though I heard that somewhere). Sorry if TMI, just had to vent to my sleeve sisters! (Sorry guys) -
4 Weeks Post Op.. Issues
kisersassy replied to jnygrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jny I am going through same thing. I am a month post op as of today. I feel like I have attacks every other day and it leaves my stomach feeling like someone used it as a punching bag for a day afterwards. I was not sure if its foamies or gallbladder or stricture. but I am pretty sure if it was a stricture it would happen all the time not just every other day. but I did call my surgeon this morning and I go in tomorrow so he can scope me. when you have your "attacks " does it make it hard and painful to take a deep breath? mine does and when I do makes me more nauseated. and it lasts about an hour and last night (sorry tmi) I vomited about 15 times -

Cher... We are the same My surgery was on Nov 12th... and I'm down 20 as well!!! I am feeling good... still tired and weak... as for Protein I am using the costco shakes too... I also found a great product called "Protein Blitz" it's like a Gatorade... each 20 oz bottle serves 30 grams of protein. You can find it at "The Vitamin Shoppe" or other places like GNC. This week I have stalled :-\ - Don't know if its the "3 week stall" everyone talks about or cuz I started my cycle... (TMI) Double-whammmie Lol o_O Oh well... 20 pounds is a Great start... keep me posted... Good Luck!!!! -
Talk Me Down Off The Ledge
castiel replied to cmaloney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could possibly be water retention. Have you had anything with a lot of sodium? Broths, canned veggies, etc.? Also do you weigh in the morning after going to the bathroom? a little tmi... but that's the best time to weigh after bowels/bladder has been emptied. If you do it at night, you could still have stuff inside you which makes the scale go up! 1.5 pounds is not something too major especially if you're exercising. If the scale keeps going up and up, then you should talk to a doctor/dietician -
Well here is update number 2 out of HOPEFULLY 5...I am updating my experience every 20 pounds and I honestly didn't think it would be at WEEK 20 before I got to 40 pounds. Yes i am VERRRRYYY happy that that 40 pounds is long gone BUT i am creeping up on that 6 month mark. I really hope the slow down doesn't kick because I am already going very sllllooowwww, pretty much this whole time I have been. I really think that it has to do with my hormones tho (PCOS). I am working out, doing my Protein, and drinking my Water, there's not too much more I can do really-maybe up my workouts some more but that is going to be really hard for me to do.... I did have a 6 week stall that I just came out of and that was no fun at all:/ I also think that had something to do with my SEVERE BACKUP LOL! I was using suppositories, Fiber, prune juice, smooth move, you name it and nothing was working. I Took dulcolax 3 nights in a row and finally it all came out....sorry if tmi. I instantly lost 3 pounds of waste...grosssss but I felt so much better. I have had no problems the whole time pain or eating wise though, I can eat whatever I want and have no problem, sometimes beef gives me a bloaty feeling but most of the time it is ok as long as I go slow. I will update my headless picture as soon as someone comes home to take it lol:P BTW I am a size 14 now, 5'4 and 188 pounds as of today!

What Doctor Do I Call? (Tmi Warning)
Texarkolina posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am nearly 4 months out and I am sick--like really sick--with I guess a stomach bug?? I am not sure that is what it is, however. I have had 20 + watery clay-colored BM's today. I have taken Imodium and pepto--no better. If I drink a sip of Water I have to go again in less than 2 minutes. I am nauseous, weak and shaky. So, is this something I call the surgeon about or go see my regular PCP? I realize it could be a stomach bug or gallbladder issues. Anyone else have this? -
November 2012 Members Post Op
Teklvr replied to crstalww's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had one of my worst days post-op. I guess I let myself get dehydrated and unfortunately constipated. Soooooo painful.. Magnesium citrate eventually cleared the way (sorry for TMI) after 10 hours of writhing pain. Don't want to have that happen again! -
So sorry for such a TMI post, but I've noticed lately that mine is very light in color, certainly not brown like it used to be. It's also very thin. I am almost 4 months out, lost 40 lbs, have 20 more to go. I've Googled "color of poop" and basically everything I've found is either bile duct obstruction or colon cancer. Well, I tend to think that it's neither since I am a WLS patient. Any thoughts?

I have NEVER been able to do 64 oz of liquid a day even without a pouch. Im just not a drinker. I'm drinking as much as I can and making sure my urine is pretty clear which means I'm hydrated. (I know TMI) I try to do no less than 40. The PA told me that was the min. It's just hard...

I'm 46 and am peri-menopausal. I haven't had my period since January. I've since forgotten when you get the signals that you have your period. Do they come before? Do they come during the period or do they come after? I never remembered to write down my TOM schedule. The reason I ask is twofold. (if you're a man, get off this thread!) My breasts feel like they weigh 20 lbs each, my nips feel like they've been freeze dried and are about to crumble at the slightest touch, my abdomen is killing me. At what point of menstruation do these types of signals occur? BECAUSE... I notice my band feels "tighter" during this time. And I have gotten stuck more than I care to think about. It's worse in the morning, some liquids even made me feel stuck. Can the band get tighter before, during and/or after your period? I'd love to hear what you say, it would be nice if I could predict my life better.

Oct. 15, 2012 Sleeve Date
BioEngineeringChick replied to Kdedeo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was very worried at first too! I lost 20lbs of water in the first 8 days and then nothing for over 2 weeks. This may be TMI, but it wasn't until after my first menstral cycle that my weight started coming off again. It went from 266 to 255 in less than 5 days since then. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but what people say about a stall is SO TRUE. I was really depressed over it since I emptied our saving to have this surgery and my husband was losing more weight than me just regular dieting and I was also following all of the rules. Keep it up! It kicked in again for me and I pray it will for you too! -
5 days post op--have such a disgusting taste in my mouth. Will this go away? Can I chew gum? Also--what about bowel movements? I've only had a very watery one (sorry for TMI) is that normal? I am scared of being constipated. Thanks in advance!

I'm Pre-Op..what Do I Need To Stock Up On Before Surgery?
BBdoodle replied to hihellohowdy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would stock up on the "heavy" items unless you have someone to carry them for you after surgery. Be careful on stocking up on too much stuff because my taste changed big time after surgery. I use to love crystal light now I can't stand it, the same with Wylers peach green tea, it taste like chemicals. I would stock up on bottled waters (16.9 oz) size. You will need to drink 4 a day to get your water in not including the protein. Try a couple of different proteins, see what one you like the most then buy a big container of it. I like Isopure, I bought the 7.5 lb. tub of it. I also stocked up on soups, I still like the same ones as I did before surgery so that is a good thing. Also stock up on vitimans, I found the chewable kind were easier to get down for the first few months. I could not handle the larger pills they hurt way too much plus caused me to throw up too sorry TMI. -
9 Months Out And Just Started Vomiting ? Weird
TexasSteph posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else.. I was sleeved in March and have had no problems with any food until last week. I don't eat bad but noticed I had French fries twice within two weeks and my stomach totally rejected it. My body cramped up and achy. I think it was due to the grease because that's all that came up. I know sorry TMI. Anyone else experience this? I thought it was weird to start at 9 months out. -
Awesome! I too experienced that moment and it felt great! Also to be able to look down and see my "lady part" without moving my gut out of the way was a pretty exciting also! Haha, sorry if TMI . Congrats to you !

Ready, Set, Go! Surgery Date 1/7/13- Still Preparing...
dmk951 replied to BrnButrfly2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I just had my surgery on 10.16.12 so I am about 5 weeks out. It was a blessing that I did not have anyone telling what to buy as I would have spent it on things I did not need. However saying this I have purchased some food items as I move along. The ONLY thing I would get is a small fork, knife, and spoon. Buy some cheap baby spoons. I bought the use and toss but don't toss just wash them in the dishwasher. I also purchase small custard bowls. You can't drink and eat at the same time so maybe you should not buy small glasses. Okay You have desert plates, your little spoons and a small set of utencils. That was all I needed. I call it my Barbie dinnerware. Because you do not drink a 1/2 hour before and after I would suggest you use a regular glass but REMEMBER to SIP, SIP,SIP! No big hits of fluid. I found it very uncomfortable to take a large drink of liquid. So I sip all day long. I check my skin to make sure I am not dehydrated, and watch the color of your urine. If it is dark you are dehydrated. Urine should be almost clear if not a very pale yellow. Maybe this is TMI. I wish you well, and no matter what you will be pleased with your choice. Take care Dorian from New Mexico USA!!! -

OK, I am 9months post op, never an issue at all since being sleeved, I just HATE eating. It isn't enjoyable at all. In fact, it actually feels more like work now than anything. I eat slow, take small bites, watch what I eat. It just feels gross when I eat, and I can still feel my sleeve moving when digesting (tmi, sorry). Milk tears my stomach up now, but I can still have cheese and yogurt. Ya see, the issue is, I know I HAVE to eat, for health and nutrition, but I simply don't want to. My husband even mentioned that eating with me is depressing. He said I just look sad! Anyone else feel like this?

No stomach noises just still bad gas pains. Still on pain meds just in case. Burping a lot but no gas. I know tmi but I really wish I did have it. Gas is all In my lower abdomen. Living on Popsicles and water. Not ready for broth or protein yet. Less nauseated. So that's good. Hope all are well. Have a great thanksgiving!!!

Thanks it was from my wedding in March. Seeing my size in the pictures is what really broke the camels back for me. We spent so much and I am not happy with myself in them. Lol. As far as how I am doing post-op... my pain has actually been pretty minimal. I get sore and tender in spots at some times, but nothing has been excruciating. I have been taking childrens tylenol from the pain. Day 1-2 post-op it was hard to keep food down and I was vomitting a lot. Since day three I have not been naseous at all and the worst of my problems have been gas and some loose bowel movements.. TMI I know Feel free to private message me if you want to chat more or have any other questions!

One Week And Two Days Out And I've Lost....
Yasmine replied to Sharonisshrinking's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm with you ladies!!! I was operated on November 12, my surgery weight was 230... when I was released from the hospital 2 days later I weighted myself and I was at 240 A weight gain of 10 pounds, but I figured it had to be all the IV that was given to me, also the swelling and keep in mind that a lot of us don't have bowel movements right away (TMI): In fact I was constipated probably 5 days before my surgery... but today is day 9... I checked my weight and I'm at 227 - sounds awesome but have you have remember I gained 10 pounds...so in really I'm down 3 pounds... but it's okay it will start to come off!!!!
