Cuz we are on mainly liquids, hardly anything builds up in our bowels. My Dr recommended some milk of Magnesia. But he said he would also suggest a suppository first to see if that will work instead of MoM for the first couple weeks. I used a suppository the other day cuz it had been 6 days, (this will b TMI) but hardly anything was released. If you feel pain is cuz you can go then try a glycerin suppository. I had surgery 17th and my right side is killing when I stand up or sit on toilet. I can barely wipe myself when I pee. Sorry TMI. What can this be? My incisions all look okay. Once I walk around a bit it's okay. And sitting on recliner is fine. -
I started messaging everyone , then I saw how many of us there are! So how are you guys and girls doing? How is the pre op diet going? I am doing ok! I am baking here and there for the holidays and its a little tempting but I am ok! I got TOM(sorry guys and anyone else who thinks this is tmi) this week so I am starving all day and Optifast isnt really working for me, but I am doing it and I am losing already! I have lost 8 lbs since I started!!!!! We have parties on both christmas eve and christmas day to attend so this is when my husbands side of the family will find out about the surgery! I am excited but scared, mostly about the hernia repair. If any of you want to message me or reply to this post it would make me so happy! Also I go in at 6am ( which mean I leave my house at 4:30) surgery is supposed to start at 7:30!! Are we all morning sleevers?

Down 123 in 6 mo but getting concerned..
Looking Ahead posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I am very proud of being down this much...I went from a 26W to 14R Levis this week. From 338 to 215 today. Heres the concern..when I stress lately, I crave chocolate. I have never really had a craving for any type of chocolate. I would be fine with one candy bar a year....if that. Now, seems like when I'm stressed to my limit, I want everything bad for me...cokes, chocolate, cupcakes, etc. I know I don't need to have theses items but at times , I feel I have no control over it especially when I see some type of candy left over from holiday parties or what I have bought for the rest of my family. Any suggestions? I am still losing but I know this is why it is slowing down. I can tell I've been under so much stress lately, my depression is getting bad again. It was getting so much better I was going to ask to half my meds again...two more halves and I'm off the medication. Wellbutrin. How do you handle the stress and cravings for sweets? Could my hormones be changing due to the weightloss? I've had a hysterectomy but never been on hormone replacements other than trial and error the first few months after surgery. I have always been fine without them. Also, TMI.....my sex drive is slowing down again. It was up for a while but seems to be down again. I think it started low because of my weight, now its low because of the excess skin- How do I deal with this.. I set my first goal for 190...but I want to change it to 150 when I reach 190. Any advice is appreciated. angie -

My hubby is the ultimate nurse. He woke me up about 15 minutes ago to 'get me moving' … saying that he doesn't want me to get 'too stiff' … but I'm wondering if a full night's rest would be better for me or not. What are your thoughts? Another thing … and this may be a little TMI … but I have a potty question. My bladder woke about 6 hours post-op … but well, the other side has not …if you catch my drift. In fact, I haven't gone to the bathroom [in the way] since about Sunday. It is now Friday. I realize I have not eaten solid foods in a long time so there may not be much to work with here, but I did have a little stool softener yesterday afternoon so maybe that'll help. Anyone else having this 'issue'??? I can only imagine how much better I would feel in the belly area if only I could 'go' …. ugh! -
I was sleeved on the 18 th too! Congrats to u!!! I haven't passed any gas either. Had a few small burps but that was it. My pain has been more from gas and the bad headache I got from the morphine. They ended up giving me toradol and that helped much better than the morphine. Have u had any trouble keeping stuff down? I had 3 baby spoon worth of vanilla chobani yogurt when I got home and it slide right back up. I'm supposed to be doing all liquids and that includes Greek yogurt without bit of fruit in it; low fat cream soups strained; sugar free pudding and jello... nothing feels good once I swallow. Wondering if my sleeve is still too swollen to handle anything other than liquids. I think I'm calling the nutritionist tomorrow just to check. I don't want to lose muscle mass or hair. Oh and have you tried gas x strips or chewables? I chewed up 2 today and it seemed to help get stuff moving. No gas out but it did help with a small bm. Tmi but hope it helps! Keep in touch. Love finding all these sleeve sisters!

On my way to surgery in 20 minutes.
castiel replied to castiel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for the good luck wishes. I was a rough 2 days. But I can say that about 7 hours after surgery, I was up and walking. The nurses were amazed and the doctors joked that I must want to get out of there fast. However, I didn't see a lot of other bariatric patients walking around like I did. I couldn't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time, but I would just walk circles around the surgery floor. I think that's what saved me from having gas pain in my chest and shoulders. [TMI] It's all coming out the other end hahah -
I'm day 16 post op and i've been doing really great so far. I can't wait until the day i'm able to drink just a sip of one but i'm trying not to focus on what i'm missing instead of what i'm gaining by losing this weight!

Diahrrea After Surgery?
Butterflysecrets replied to Ola Tess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My issue is that I have diarrhea after almost every meal. Is this normal? It is an odd yellow color (TMI, sorry). Not sure if I should be worried or not. -
I know exactly how you feel. Sweets are like my drug. And I own a bakery fantastic combination right?! Lol I allow myself to have something nearly everyday. I keep it in my calorie range and I'm still losing weight. If the urge is still there, fiber one makes these great 90 calorie brownies and cookies that hold me over really well. I recommend giving into your craving because if you don't, you may binge later and it's only downhill from there. Trust me, by the time you get to 1/2 a cupcake, you'll feel satisfied. I was a 6 pack of cupcakes kind of girl and now I'm satisfied with only a 1/2. Any more than that and I feel gross. Christmas cookie production is very hard right now so I try to keep it to one cookie a day. And they're small...usually only 100 calories worth which is manageable. Maybe for every sweet u eat, u could exercise what it takes to burn that amount? I try to do that whenever I can. I just keep reminding myself how I was in the bathroom all day long before...and until Lapland I thought that was normal. Now normal is so nice and I'm not running to the bathroom every hour because of the constant sugar and fat in my system. :/ tmi, I know...but it's reality.

iron deficient anemic
ShrinkyDinkMe22 replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks all. My Dr did tell to continue iron supplement but it's a tablet. So i sent hubby out later night to get a chewable. He came back with the above. I hesitated taking it because of the herbs. I knoe I can take vitamin c but it had trace amounts of rose hips and a couple other items in there. I will wait until Monday and check with the Dr. I wanted to make sure I got back on something bc i know surgery csn make the iron low again and my wonderful monthly friend came a few days later (tmi sorry). But that was the other reasons I felt like I should get on something right away. And I refuse to crush up the tablet is have. The pill tastes disgusting on my tongue lol. Thanks all! -

Stiff is right, Nancy. Our bladders may just need a few days to wake up. I have found that if I tilt my pelvis a little, I can get more out. (Sorry, TMI) -
I am pre-op and I have had the same kind of rash in that area. It was really red and sometimes itchy and painful. I thought it was a yeast rash and tried all the over the counter creams, but nothing helped. My doctor confirmed it was a yeast rash and the Rx cream took care of it. The Rx creams are much stronger so I would recommend that route. I also found a product online called InterDry which is a medical grade anti-microbial fabric with silver that wicks moisture away from your body. It also inhibits the yeast or any bacteria from multiplying. It was created for exactly this problem. It is a roll of fabric that you cut to size and place in the folds of skin. It works wonders!!! It isn't cheap but you don't have to buy it very often (you can use each piece for up to 5 days - depending). Making sure the area is clean and dry is the key. After I shower, I always use my hairdryer on the cool setting to dry "the area" before I get dressed. You can do this several times a day if needed. Hope this wasn't TMI, but I was miserable and these things helped me.

Sharp stinging and burning pains
Tiffany Winn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery Tuesday and came home Thursday afternoon.. I've been in pain since I got home. Mainly on my left side. When I pull myself into a sitting position, get up, or sit down. My left side burns and has a stinging pain. Is this normal? I usually have to take the pain medication they gave me every 4-6 hours on the dot because of this pain alone. I get my drain removed Monday and will be asking her about this. I was just wondering if it's normal. Or if anyone else had it. I think the hardest part of things has been the pain. I questioned myself a day after surgery, wondering if this was the smartest decision. I also have tons of gas and grumbling. And really loose stool, diarrhea, and grumbling before I actually let loose. (Sorry if that's TMI.) I hope all these start to go away. So tired of feeling like this already. -
If my day is really busy I will eat lunch at my desk and continue to work. This was the case today. My lunch was meat & cheese rolled up and baby carrots, had this many times. So I’m eating and working….about half way into lunch I get the soft stop feeling. Okay, I stop. I then get the heavy chest feeling, something is trying to go down. This feeling stayed with me most of the afternoon. At 4pm I made myself a cup of hot tea, black tea with cream & splenda (It’s the English in me). I’m sipping my tea and I get the soft stop feeling….hummm, never got that with liquids before. I wait a few minutes and take another sip, get the soft stop feeling again. This time it’s followed up with saliva building in my mouth. TO THE BATHROOM I GO! Yep, I pb’d that tea right up along with carrots (sorry if TMI). Well, I guess I got stuck at lunch and finally got it out 4 hours later….. My Yellow Rose (my band) started talking to me after that & this is what she said, “See what happens when you don’t chew your food enough. See what happens when you don’t pay attention to what you are eating. See what happens when you eat too fast.” Wow, wasn’t expecting that. But, hay it happens. Sorry Yellow Rose, guess I won’t be eating that Mahi Mahi I planned for dinner. .. “Nope, I want liquids. I’ll teach you not to chew your food!” So, I am having a protein shake for dinner.

I am now 5 days postop, surgery 12/10 and still haven't passed a BM? Anyone else experience this? Gas, yes, plenty, but no BM. Sorry TMI wondering if this is normal? -
My doctor said my scales are fine. I weigh every day when I get up after I pee and in my birthday suit (TMI I know) and I chart my weight. This gives me an accurate movement since it's daily on the same scale. I however would love the FITBIT ARIA scale.

I'm in the "What have I done" phase. HELP!
LovieC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Monday the 10th at 10:00 a.m. and everything seems to be on track for my recovery. I did my walking in the hospital and sipped as much water as I could, but still couldn't get much down at all. I was discharged the following day at about 9:00. I've been doing laps at my house, but the pains in my stomach are making it difficult to keep hardly anything down. I was able to get a protein shake down this morning a little broth this afternoon, but between the meds, broth, and shake I can't seem to get hardly any water in. They said I would feel miserable for the first several days, but I "thought" that was only for those who didn't follow orders. I've had a lot of phlem (yes TMI) and coughing to express it feels like daggers in my stomach. I really am questioning whether I did the right thing by having this surgery. I scheduled to go back to work on Monday and am having difficulty in seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'd love to hear some of you experiences with this in the first few days of post op. As hard as I want to put a big smile on right now and provide encouragement to others I am in the middle of my own pitty party. Thank you for any advice you can give. -

I have been walking 3-4 x a week for about 60 min. I live in MN and it is now cold. No problem... I just bundle up. Today the walking path had lots of icy patches and some snow. I did fine but my dogs were walking on 3 legs after a while. BUMMER. I may get them some little shoes so they can continue to go with me. Does anyone else have problems with hemmorhoids??? I have had one that is really bothering me for the last 2 weeks. I am not constipated and am very regular. UGH Sorry TMI.... Other than that I am feeling awesome!! I tried on some pants a couple of weeks ago and they were too snug. Tried them on today and they are baggy. I have only lost about 5-7 pounds since then. Lovin my sleeve!!!!
