I hate that I had this surgery
MaryAnn49 replied to HisMrsWright's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
GENEPRO helped me with this. I added a scoop to my hot decaf tea and a scoop to my broth. I drank both all day. I strained out the noodles from Lipton chicken noodle Soup. I told all my friends in my support group that. It really turned my mind around. 24 hours later I felt much better. I hope your doctors appointment goes well on Monday. What is the first thing you eat or drink everyday?
byefatbye replied to Tim C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love breakfast, so I can't imagine not having some kind of breakfast. When I'm in a rush, I'll just put 6 ounces of almond milk, packet of decaf folgers instant coffee, scoop of genepro unflavored protein powder, and a pump of Jordyn's skinny mix coffee syrup in a shaker bottle and drink that at work. If I'm really pressed for time, I grab a pre-made protein drink. If I have time though, I'd rather eat food and I enjoy scrambled eggs, my version of egg salad, or high protein oatmeal. My surgery is soon but I cannot stand the taste of protein shakes is there anything else I can drink to get proper protein?
cutebutcrzy replied to HLsleeve's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I mostly used genepro and mixed it in to everything. Fairlife is the only premixed shake that doesn't make me nauseous since the surgery. -

Megarooni replied to HLsleeve's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My tastes changed after surgery and I couldn’t stand the taste of premier protein anymore. I tried a few others and now I love Iconic Protein. That’s been helping me get my protein levels back up. I also use Genepro unflavored protein powder and can mix that into anything. -
I can still do milk +carnation SF + genepro unflavored in the morning which is close to 40 grams of protein. All of the rest of the 5 flavored Syntrax i bought I can't tolerate. I can also do isopure alpine punch ready to drink. I have been trying to do some soup with protein mixed in. It does get repetitive

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
Tiffany2021 replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will try the warm water. I do drink the sugar free propel and crystal lite throughout the day. I don't seem to like water right now, so I don't drink enough of it. I don't drink the protein shakes much either, but I did buy some Genepro unflavored protein powder and mix it in things to make sure I get my protein in everyday. I should probably not get on the scale everyday when I am in a stall! Hopefully things will get moving again in both areas lol. -
A normal day of food post op?
ichabodny replied to TrueNorth1's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I am just now at 3 months. Everyone is really different with this honestly. I had a tough time-just passing Thanksgiving, I am getting a bit more used to foods I can handle but I will be honest and say there are a lot of limits. Some days are still worse then others-Doc said that's normal for the first year. I try to eat my normal keto diet from before but still have to add Atkins shakes. Cold does better for me then hot so I will sometimes freeze a drink in a bowl for lunch and have that. It definitely helps. Turkey meatballs are my staple these days if I can mix it with a little sauce. They say bread is difficult but I will have at least one or two slices of Aldi zero carb bread- it gives me a lot of fiber and some protein. I toast it then put either the turkey meatballs (smushed and mixed) onto the bread then let it get a bit moist or, if it's a good day, I can try some egg and then chicken that's been boiled with keto barbecue sauce (just a tad-it has about 3 net carbs). Sometimes I can handle deli meat and cheese seems to be fine for me if I really chew well and take tiny bites. I also have my tablespoon or two of genepro for the missing protein. Veggies are still really hard for me but I do take a v8 green and I have been trying little bits of apple. Banana was pretty hard and other fruits can be a toss-up depending on the day. I started to mix a bit of sweet potato mashed with almond milk and some of my boiled chicken together for some meals and peas mashed can be ok if I can handle it. Popcorn that's air-popped is doable for me and seeming the easiest to take down in small amounts (no butter or salt-just plain). I will take it as a treat- a cup or so. I also live on the sugar-free popsicles with 15 calories when my store has it in stock. Tillapia works for me some days as well if it's not baked or fried but boiled in the bag. My calories are still only at around 800 on good days but I'm exercising well and labs are showing the genepro is doing well with the protein. Probably not the best example for you as you can be better able to handle varieties then I am right now but it's where I'm at. Had bypass Sept 1. -
@@Kiba - one thing to consider as you experiment with your diet - you mentioned that GENEPRO is your main Protein source. I've done some digging on GenePro and I'm concerned that they may be overstating the amount of protein in their product. If this is true, you may actually be far under your protein goals. It might be worth mixing it up with different protein sources to see if this helps your loss. A few months ago I read a thread on here where a man mentioned using a Protein powder that is similar to GENEPRO but less expensive. I unfortunately cannot remember the name of that product, but perhaps you could do a keyword search and locate that thread. It's possible that powder is available in the UK. You could also try posting your question on the listing for Genepro on Amazon. Ask if they know of a distributor that ships to the UK, and alternatively, and if there's a similar product to try. Other Amazon consumers can reply to questions in addition to the vendor, and they might be able to offer more direction. http://www.amazon.com/Musclegen-Research-Genepro-Medical-Servings/dp/B00K6OSDYA

Protein Shake Questions
NewNewMe replied to MOMMY2MGM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After my surgery I could not stomach the protein shakes. My saving grace was Genepro. It will mix in anything hot or cold. It has 30g protein. The serving scoop size is small. I would mix it with crystal light, or soup broths when on liquids and in creamy soups later. When I got to soft food I put it in mashed potatoes and cream of wheat. For some reason I do stomach shakes again now. But Genepro was fantastic during the post surgery weeks. -
Best (unflavored) protein powder
Nylaj replied to Skywalker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GENEPRO is a lifesaver for me. I can have one cup of coffee so for Breakfast, I drink my coffee & 1 scoop of Genepro. 30g of Protein. Then if I am not that hungry, I will do another scoop later in a yogurt or something. It has no flavor. It mixes well if you follow directions. -
Best (unflavored) protein powder
Bufflehead replied to Skywalker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no such thing as tasteless protein powder, only unflavored -- but protein powder will always have its own, inherent taste. To keep it from clumping, you should mix it only with warm liquids, not hot. Other than with hot liquids, I've never known protein powder to clump if you mix it with a good blender. I used both Unjury and Syntrax and found them fine, though best mixed into stronger-flavored foods to mask the protein powder taste as much as possible. Some people will claim that Genepro is tasteless and mixes into anything -- I personally think Genepro is a complete scam and doubt that it has much if any protein in it at all, but lots of people swear by it and claim good results with their labs and weight loss, so who knows. -
Best (unflavored) protein powder
Skywalker replied to Skywalker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have gotten GENEPRO in the mail today, and used it in some Greek Yogurt. Impressed with it so far; it mixed in well and did not screw up the taste. It's a bit pricey, but if it works I'm sticking with it. Will definitely be worthwhile if it gets me out of the stall. For the first time in a while I'm meeting my daily Protein goal of 60 g. -

Skywalker replied to Skywalker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the tip, I'm looking into GENEPRO and have noticed that it has almost 100% positive reviews on Amazon. When I finish my upcoming trial with unjury I think I'm going to test that. -
Help, please! Premier Protein shakes taste awful to me.. Need recommendations!
Stevehud replied to blissfulbeing's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Syntrax Nectars are my personal favorites. I use 1 and 1/2 scoops of product with 5 ounces of liquid that way you get 35 grams of Protein in a 5 to 6 pounce serving, no product can touch that. If you are interested you can view my video taste tests of many brands and flavors on my blog at http://cuttingthefatwithaknife.blogspot.com By the way the GENEPRO people have sent me a letter Texas lady showing that their product is only 10 grams of protein per serving. as you cannot get 30 grams of protein product from a 15 gram serving size ( 1 tablespoon is 15 grams) Their study is a spreadsheet no actual study was done and the award they say they received was sponsored by musclegen which is the company that makes Genepro. Also your blood work doesn't show protein levels, serum protein, which is almost never looked at in blood does not show protein intake, only protein in the blood at that time, just so you know. -
I am the same way and it is real hunger. I keep a small snack for this. I'm not sure how you are eating during the day but it could be that you aren't get a lot of calories during the day, your stomach gets a rest for most of the evening (5 or 6 hours?) and is able to take a little something more. I have some questions on where it comes from as I started a new job last month just before Thanksgiving. I work from 4 pm until around 12-1 am but don't eat at all during my shift (I drink tons of water mixed with my genepro protein for energy though all shift long). My work is at a factory and I'm doing fast, physical work with heavy lifting. I then pick up my son after work (our family works at the same place but different buildings) and I have to wait for him. By the time I get home, I'm really ravenous but can't eat many things still. I have some mild slim jims put aside and will eat a couple of the small snack size. I can't drink anymore and still getting used to the schedule. I have to go back and pick up my husband at 4 am (he works 12 hour shifts) so I don't sleep so much but I'm not hungry again until the next afternoon after sleeping all morning until around 3 pm with my husband. Until I read your post, I thought that was the reason for the hunger but it can be just the time our stomachs can handle it after not eating for so many hours.

Good protein powder clear
ChunkCat replied to Selenamarie44's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hear a lot of good things about Genepro, so that's what I ordered. I haven't tried it yet though, I'm on the pre-surgery diet and it only allows two brands of protein shakes, so I'll post after surgery to let you know how the Genepro is! -
Post-Op Protein HELP!!
mrshenry replied to teezora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am right there with you. The struggle is so real and everyone seems to think you just have to "find a way" but the fact is, you are trying but your body and stomach just rejects it. I had to pray and get divine power because I was in tears. I'm not there yet, but I am seeing a little progress in tolerance for the Genepro protein powder if I put it in liquid first, shake well and then put it in soups I enjoy ( the broth). I have a ninja blender so it blends any grit taste out 90%. I'm learning to give myself a good balance of grace and perseverance through drinking. Nothing is Goldilocks "just right" perfect yet, but I've accepted that that's okay. It's easy for some people to get there protein grams in and others struggle, but know that you doing great. You made a healthy and bold decision for a better life, applaud yourself for that first! I made this post a few days ago and maybe it will help you. Just look for the title in this thread and feel free to private message me if you need to. You are NOT ALONE!!! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -
I figured out the "trick" with purees...
RedSalamander posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I graduated to purees on Monday, woohoo! But I've been struggling along with them, booo. A few bites of scrambled eggs here, then I get overfull and barf delicately into the sink. A few bites of blenderized chicken Soup there, I get overfull and barf delicately into the sink. And hey, I'm a pretty good barfer. But that overfull feeling SUCKED. So finally, I made a decision the day before yesterday. I decided that consuming food was going to be an unpleasant necessity, something I'd just have to get through, but wouldn't look forward to or enjoy. (I also quit eggs and chicken!) What a difference! I exceeded my Protein goals yesterday and focused on non-meats like hummus and cheese and soup (blended sweet potato soup with GENEPRO this time!). I was able to eat much more (over 1/4 cup at lunch and dinner) and never felt overfull. That adjustment in expectations and the subsequent change in what I ate totally helped. So there you have it--eating sucks for a while after surgery, and that's Ok! You will figure out how to make it work. -
I am prepping some 2 ounce containers for my post-op clear liquids phase. I grew tired of messing with Jello and found that I could dissolve a half scoop of Genepro in a small amount of chicken broth. The total slurry mix fits within the 2 ounce container. That would give me 15 grams of protein per serving, which is WAY more than I doctor up with my Jello attempts. Perhaps a chemist could do better, but I am done. Any reason not to do this? I have 2 containers chilling in the refrigerator now as a test run. I assume it will separate a bit, but I could just shake it. I really like the taste of the broth and don't expect the Genepro to mess with the flavor, but I know the consistency must thicken a bit. Thoughts? Thanks!

Appetite back with a vengance!

I can’t make the new app work the way I want it to! Yes I was trying to quote her post asking about Genepro. She said she didn’t know how it could have those calories and no carbs. -
Help! Can't find a protein drink that I can tolerate!
madameloua replied to talkingmountain's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Genepro is good. It is almost tasteless and 1tbsp is 30 grams of protein. -
I'm 5 weeks out and I still use Genepro protein powder at least once a day. It's a tiny scoop of flavorless, fully dissolvable protein. I put it in water and mix it with some crystal light drops. One scoop is 30g. I will also mix it into other recipes (you can bake with it up to 400 degrees). So when I make ricotta bites I add a scoop or two. It helps just boost all the things I eat with extra protein.
