  1. I am exactly 4 weeks post op i lost 20 lbs and in one week gained 6 lbs. I am trying to stick to the diet but having a hard time. During the day I am not hungry at all but as soon as I set foot in the house I'm starving. Weekends are the worst since I don't have an active social life Im in the the house thinking of food constantly. has anyone else experience this. My first fill is not until the end of July I am truly disappointed in myself and embarrassed that I have fallen off already. I am willing to listen to all suggestions. Please give me some guidance.
  2. Hi I was banded in Sep 2004 and lost 135 pounds to get to a normal BMI (just). I had a slip diagnosed in September this year and had my band repositioned. Both times i have had a fill since then I have had to go back to get some Fluid out because I was too tight. So I am feeling a little scared of going back for more fill. Plus I don't want to see my fill Dr because I have now gained over 50 pounds and I feel embarassed. I just can't stop eating - I know it's emotions. But I thought the band would help with the regain like everyone says. Josy
  3. So I went in to a stall just after my 3 week post-op. It's been hanging around for a week and a half now, no big deal. What is a big deal is that even though I'm religiously following orders, I'm noticing weight creep. It's not much, but it's about a pound and a half since last week. I'm doing everything I was told to do - I'm exercising (walking) 20-30 minutes a day, I'm getting in at least 70 grams of Protein, under 100g of carbs (way under!), very little fat, and taking all meds and Vitamins. On average, I'm eating about 500-700 calories a day, which leaves me at least 2k caloric defecit on a daily basis. Now I'm getting frustrated. I know I'm supposed to wait this out with the patience of a saint or something, but I am neither patient or a saint so it's going really poorly. I've tried various tips and tricks to jump my metabolic rate and I'm just... ugh >.< Nothing's working.
  4. Well, here's one for ya... I am doing my 3 month supervised diet with my surgeon. I go to the classes, follow the diet to a "T" and exercise. I am just finishing my 1st of 3 months. I just got on the scale and noticed that I have gained 2 lbs. I have my class and weigh in tomorrow night. I have noticed that I do eat more carbs- fruits, vege's and a little quinoa than I have in the past- but this is what I have been told to do in the diet. In myfitnesspal, I am under my calorie intake by 300-500 cals per day due to exercise. I just don't get it... I would have thought I would loose. 2 lbs isn't that much and is probably water, but I am bummed. I am almost thinking of going to 2 shakes and 1 meal a day to loose some weight.
  5. I'm on Paxil for anxiety n scared some of my weight might hv come from it..will surgery still work?any advice?
  6. I won't be having a baby in the next two years but it is a fear in the back of my mind. I would like to know how much those of you who had a baby after the surgery gained and wether it was too difficult to watch out for your cravings during pregnancy. How much did you gain?? At this point, I will starve myself to prevent myself from getting to the point where I was before. I know that is not the wisest thing to say but I will not let it happen again. My fear is that during pregnancy, preventing myself from keeping a healthy diet in fear of gaining massively, might hurt my baby. Which clearly no body wants... I am ranting..[emoji20]

  11. Today I had my weekly weigh-in and I have gained 0.2 lbs. This has been my first gain since surgery in Jan. I have lost 81 lbs and I should not be so upset about this. 81 lbs is huge! So, why does this hurt so bad. A lot of questions are running through my head. What did I do wrong? Have I hit my limit; never loose again? I know it seems silly, but I could really use some encouragement right about now.Weight Gain Panic Today I had my weekly weigh-in and I have gained 0.2 lbs. 12. I am getting sleeved on Jan 17. I started this whole process back in August and I have probably gained 10 pounds since then. My eating has been out of control. I know this may sound strange but I think I am going through some kind of grieving process for the food that I won't be able to have after the surgery. Has this happened to anyone else? Well, now that I have gotten all the hoops out of the way I hope that I can buckle down and at least lose that extra 10.
  13. New year ... new start. Im looking for help/guidance. Had surgery in Nov 2012. I weighed 289 day of surgery. Got down to as far as 214 lb and then just hit a plateau. Which I was fine with. I did more than I ever did. Loved to exercise to relieve the stress of eating etc... Then I was injured couldn't exercise as much. Starting getting depressed and making bad eating choices again. Now Im up to 235 lb. I started back with kick boxing but started getting dizzy and very out of breathe. I figured I had been out of the game for awhile and thought I was just out of shape. I went to get a full work up and physical. Discovered that my B12, Iron and white blood counts were very low and therefore making me extremely anemic. Had to get a few iron infusions done. Dr told me I could resume workouts until levels were up. Levels are still where they need to be... taking vitamin D and b12 supplements now. Dr told me my metabolism is very low and therefore not burning off calories like it normally would. Im feeling at a loss. I want to be back at where I was. Finding it hard to get motivated. Anyone else have a similar experience???
  14. Is it possible that I am not eating enough and my body is going into starvation mode? I am trying to keep the right Protein in me, etc, my calories probably total 600-800 tops. I have started to add some real food, mushy stuff but now I am putting weight back on. My calories are still low seeing as I am less then a 1/4 cup on everything. One egg is not enough calories to push me way up over the limit. I think my body is going into starvation mode. Anybody have any thoughts?
  15. It's been 20 years since my bypass. My surgery weight was 379. My lowest was 170. The most I weighed post opp was 243. I'm now 218 and I'm struggling to get under 200. Anyone else here has this problem. I know alcohol is one of the biggest set back
  16. I'm worried about this! my weigh in is Thursday and I'm starting my period soon and I'm already feeling bloated and I checked my weight on my scale and I'm up 7lbs from last week! That can't be right I'm working out everyday and eating right. I'm scared I'm going to gain weight and be kicked out of the program. I'm not aloud to gain any weight.
  17. I have a friend who is getting VSG (she doesn't have an acct here) and she wanted me to ask you guys a question. If you gain roughly 5-6lbs BEFORE your surgery will it be cancelled? I personally have no idea because my surgery is scheduled for next month but hers is NEXT week!
  18. I gained 9 lbs since I had my GBP yesterday. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, neck, thighs and calves all hurt. Thanks K Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Weight Gain Frustration

Ok, since my slippage surgery on 9/21 I have been dropping weight like crazy and my Doc was worried about the weight loss. Now 4 weeks out from surgery I'm up 5 lbs...out of no where. I stopped doing the protein shakes, Doc gave me the approval to go ahead and try to eat...and so far its been great. I'm able to eat almost anything in small quantities...including bread/pasta and chicken...all of which I couldn't eat prior to this. Makes me wonder, was my band misplaced improperly to begin with...and did the Doc miss it??? Anyhow I'm working out like a crazy woman and the scale just keeps going up and up....I was 6 lbs below goal and now 5 lbs over....11 lbs COME ON. I'm feeling discourage and frustrated and hunger has set in...making Christy a very grumpy girl. I go in for my first fill on Nov. 5th and I cannot wait to get back on track again. Well I'm taking my "lil weight gaining self" to the gym....2nd workout for the day. I CANNOT FAIL!!!!
  20. Did anyone gain during 6 month suprovosed and still got approved if so how much did u gain?
  21. Has anyone gained water weight while taking OTC's? Last week was a weird week. I got really sick (cold) and was on my cycle. I gained 7lbs. I knew it could not be right. Granted I had not worked out since last Thursday, but knew there was NO way I could gain 7lbs! I dropped 4 of those lbs yesterday. I am still suffering with congestion, but feel much better. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I go to Drs 1st week of April and will talk to him about it then as well. I was actually drinking more water to help flush out the cold and eating less. I knew I was not flushing because my urinating was not the greatest.
  22. Since being sleeved on the 21st of October, I've been weighing myself daily. In the last 3 days I haven't lost and in fact I think I went up a pound or two. Is this normal? I'm feeling a little discouraged. I can now have mushy foods and creamy soups and I have been. Did I move too fast to the next stage of food?
  23. Hello I just recently created an account in hopes of receiving some help and advice from gastric sleeve patients (It took me a lot of courage to decide to do this though). I hope I am asking in the right place though hehe. Anyways, I have had my vsg on August 4th 2014 at the age of 17 and so far I am over 80 pounds down! My sw was 220lbs and I am hoping to be near 102-110 pounds (I am only 4 foot 10). I have a few questions so bear with me please I have had my vsg in a different country than in the one I currently live in so I do not have anyone to kinda follow up with. I was also given a nutrition plan for the first 6 months only(although it was quite vague). Right now, I am currently struggling with a lot of grazing. I have never been the one to actually eat a proper meal before my surgery and I grazed instead, but right now I am grazing non stop through the day especially on sweet things. Sadly, this has resulted in me in stalling for a few months and then putting on 2 pounds and i decided to seek advice before I gain more. Also, my family eats completely different things than I do, so I am literally left on my own to figure it out and it is hard to cook and such since I was busy with my last year of high school and I will be starting university soon. I looked up online and a lot of surgeons or nutritionists say no snacking while others encourage it. I believe that maybe having 1-2 planned Snacks would help since I am awake for a long period of time and if I try only sticking to 3 meals I feel like gnawing my own arm hehe I am sticking to Protein but sometimes I am just overwhelmed or bored because I keep eating the same things everyday (I do love chicken though!). I was hoping if someone could share their food choices/meal plans with me if possible or maybe easy things I can cook for myself? Lastly, I was hoping if there are other people who have lost weight everywhere except for their belly. I have lost weight in my whole body and a bit in my belly, but it seems to be the only place where there is stubborn fat (I am apple shaped) and my belly is just hanging and nothing seems to help.( I am guessing that's why I am a bit carb sensitive and I need to completely cut carbs out if i want to lose weight.) Thank you very much in advance and hoping to meet other people as well
  24. In 38 weeks I have lost an average of 1.5 lbs a week; mostly 1 lb per week as I lost a lot in the beginning. I write my experiences down on a weekly blog each Sunday so I know exactly what I weighed and when. Although my loss has been slow, it's been steady and I have to say I have never felt like I was depriving myself or on any diet, although my tummy could only handle certain things. Today I gained 2 lbs. I was on vacation, but I don't think it was the food. I think it was the exercise. So today I wrote about my exercise over the past 8 months, as a 50 something, non-athletic woman. If you're in that category (or if you have any interest) check it out by clicking the link below my signature. Thanks for looking. I haven't been on the forum for a while since I was out having fun! 25. How many of you are "food addicts"? I am definitely one of those. I have lost 62 pounds now gained back 2 of them. I am happy for my loss (probably life saving) but I am following old habits of eating when stressed or sad etc. For me it seems to be a battle of mind over stomach and this month the mind is winning. HOW DO YOU CHANGE YOUR MINDSET and make it permanent? :bored: HOW DO YOU GET OVER A FOOD ADDICTION? The band can't do it for me - I still have to control or alter or replace my cravings for emotional eating. I welcome any response. Can anybody relate? Has anybody found a good tool to use? I need help! Betsy - betsyw20@comcast.net
