Hello my friends, Been nursing DH today. He was dethatching the lawn yesterday but I guess caught some bug. He started with the shivers this morning with no fever, then threw up and then the fever. Seems to be doing better now but, man we're nervous with the TripleE around here. He hasn't thrown up again and his fever is in check so we're doing well. He's watching his NASCAR race now (bet Betty is too hee hee). I tried to get some chicken soup in him earlier and he did well with it but, he hasn't been hungry for supper. Just trying to be a good nurse Hmmm now if I had a uniform it might help change his mood lmao sorry couldn't help it lol. He is doing better though I think I got everyone with my personal email addy but, if I missed ya and you'd like it please PM me and I'll give it to you. I'd love it if we all kept in touch should something happen to the website. Seems the hacking and weekend shutdowns have me nervous. Hopefully the fighting will stop soon...such silliness and man they get so nasty :girl_hug: So sad that they've forgotten what this website is truly for and how much it's helped us all. Oh well enough about that. Cindy - Thank you for the compliment. I think it might be sinking in that I'm doing well. I truly didn't see it in my picture but, for the first time on Friday at work....I saw something. I went into the ladies room and while washing my hands I looked at myself in the mirror (Gosh I hate to do that lol) and saw something. My mind finally allowed me to see a smaller girl. I looked at my hips and tummy and saw it......finally thought "wow....you have lost girl....more to go but, it's really showing". I guess that's a NSV for me...I've never said that to myself before. Anywho...thank you for all you did to help me get here The food suggestions have helped alot. I really do need to slow down, cut my Protein nice and small and I do much better. All the things I knew to do but didn't until ya reminded me lol Mandy - WELCOME girl! Any friend of Cindy's is considered a friend of mine. Please feel free to ask any questions here including WHATS A PB lol. We won't get mad but if ya ask twice we might tell ya again but laugh hee hee. Just kidding. You'll find we all like to help each other and we all need each other. Your dog is adorable.....I have two Golden Retrievers. They're cute but Jake the 4 month old is cruisin big time. He chewed up my kitchen chairs....the seat of all things and they are oak. Mamma isn't happy with him right now. Apparently he did this while my son was home alone and not paying attention :girl_hug: Needless to say they were both in the doghouse Friday. Betty - God bless ya. I've seen your postings within some of the threads and it must be so hard with the Gripe catagory. I don't know if the catagory is being used properly, seems like it's nothing but trouble so I've been staying away from it. I got caught up in it when I was looking for New posts to see if I could help people. That dang curiosity sometimes does me in but, I keep my mouth or fingers shut. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing your best moderating here. It just can't be easy. Now......do you use a special smoker type thing for the meats? Its an outdoor thing right? Hows the foot? Mary - Hows it going? Seems like life is very busy for you! I do hope you've had time to pamper yourself a bit. Kat - Waiting to see those pics girl. I bet you see a big difference I'll be happy to help you get them posted if you'd like. How is DH doing today? Good idea with the email addys and anyone that wants to share mine with anyone here, it's ok with me. Chris - Sorry we couldn't get together today. I was looking forward to it but, I couldn't take the chance of you or Donna getting sick. No idea what DH has but he's feeling better Maybe we can make plans for next weekend or something How many days now? 30? Wahooo you're going to do sooo good with this I just know it! Pat - Thanks for letting us know about the hack thing with Eileen. I don't blame ya for being afraid to go there. My DH repairs computers so I know I'd get it fixed but, still I don't want to lose any information I have stored up on it lol. How are things going for you? Your new hire start yet? Ohhh I still have the one that doesn't balance her deposits with me and she hasn't improved getting to work on time grrrrrrrr. She's going to make me do it...I just know it UGH. Patty - How old is Channing? I remember my son going through some self esteem issues. Still not easy when it happens but, he's getting better with it realizing that sometimes it's not him but the kid that is making fun of him has a problem. Teenage years are so difficult sometimes. Good luck finding the help you want for him, I'm sure you're helping him a great deal too. He's lucky to have such a wonderful mom Eileen - Glad you got your computer up and running right. DH do that for a living? Sometimes these viruses and hackers really cause a great deal of mess. Thanks for getting the info to us through Pat. My luck I would of flopped right over it and allowed it into my computer as well. Minestrone soup....ahem...Greg's special soup....easy peasy to make! I'll give the recipe if ya want it If you have a can opener...you're golden with this recipe. No measuring cups needed either lol. It's even better after it sits in the refridge overnight and reheated the next day Bene - Hows the vacation going....you still on it? Hope all is well. love yas

WOW! I got my bike back from the shop and had to try it out! I just got back from a 15.12 mile Bike Ride!!!:whoo: 1 hour and 6 minutes... an average of 14.6 mph!:clap2: I only intended to go out for 4 or 5 miles... but I wasnt even winded. So, I thought ok 10 miles... got to 10 miles and wasn't even winded. So, I thought ok, 15 miles. I was still NOT winded at all! breathing well... and hyped up on adreniline BUT if it wasnt for the fact that it was getting tooo dark to ride safely. I could have just kept right on going!! I feel great. So, happy I got started on this. I LOVE my bike! ------------------ Next order of business, NSV -- OMG I had my first Cat Call tonight!! hahaha -- these guys saw me riding my bike -- as they came out of their apartment and totallly did "the whistle" and shouted some kind of "hey baby" comment at me. I was like, "what the hell!?!?" (then I started thinking) I ride in these little bitty short shorts and tank top... I never once thought about what I must look like up on that bike. Half my ass is probably exposed! :omg: i guess they got to see a whole lot of "leg." haha... and mamma must be looking better these days when she is riding around town! I laughed so hard when I figured out the whistling was directed at me! I almost fell off my bike. THAT would have been sexy! ------------- Claud -- well, at least you found a nice guy to spend the evening with... sound like you may want to give him a bit of a chance. I know your heart is in Chicago BUT this guy sounds awfully polite and nice. He would be great to spend time with and just enjoy yourself. BUT I know what you mean, when you heart lie somewhere else -- it is hard to even look at another person. Booboo -- YEAH!! for not killing the mother! haha -- I am glad she finally came around. That probably took alot for her to make that compliment. She seems like the type of person that would have had to swallow her pride to say that one. So, I know must have meant alot to you. Kudos on the tubing!! I was with my 5'2'' sexy as hell Hawaiian friend this weekend. She is GORGEOUS! and she is like "you want to go down to the pool?" I had to have looked at her like she was crazy! I havent been in a bathing suit in over 10 years! in a publice pool since I was 15 or 16! and here she is in all of her perfectly tanned and toned glory!! YEAH... um, that was NOT the day for me to try out sun bathing... I love her to death. Best person ever, but she is like Ms. Hawaiian Tropic... THAT would make anyone feel infearior. Steph -- yeah, I would let them have it too!! haha -- i dont put up with ANYONES crap anymore. or at least I try not to. I just cant handle it. Give 'em hell! I am glad to see you checking in more. I've missed you! Congrats on the awesome day! Make sure not to skip breakfast, it will put your metabolism in SLOW MO for the entire day. Ive been setting my alarm for 5am getting up eating my breakfast and then taking an hour power nap before I have to keep getting ready for work. It helps jump start my metabolism -- so I keep on burning up the food all day. Just an idea!! hehe about "the boinking" of the husband. you crack me up girl. You seem to have a very healthy happy relationsihp with your husband. that is good! Keeps you both young and um..... satisfied??? haha:heh: BabyGotBack! Hey chica! I keep up with you on the boards... I check up every few weeks to see how you are doing and how things are progressing :-) OF course we remember you! You are doing an awesome job with your band. I was plateaued for about 2 months. I've had to kick up the exercise HARDCORE to see results. But I think things are finally moving again! So good to hear from you!

Hello, everyone! Some random thoughts: I had my suregery last Tuesday, the 9th, and today was the first day I felt hunger pangs. I made a can of low fat cream of chicken soup, thinking that since I was "ravenous" I could easily eat the can and once I got through about 10 spoonfuls I felt like I just ate a Thanksgiving dinner. How weird. On another note, I've lost 5 lbs. since the surgery, for a total of 15 lbs so far, and I've had my first NSV (non scale victory)... I went to get a maincure and the nail lady gasped when she saw me. She asked if I was on a diet and she said my face looked "so" thin. That was pretty awesome. I guess I'm still bloated from the surgery so my pants are tight, but apparently my face is thinning out, which is really nice. Last thing, for now. I ordered some of the clear, fruit flavored Isopure zero carb protein drinks - they taste like Gatorade or Vitamin Water - they have 40 grams of protein, no fat, no sugar and are 160 calories. So far, I like them all - a lot. Good protein alternative to the protein shakes if you're sick of the milkshake schtick. You can find them in GNC or have them shipped directly to you from the Isopure website, which I think was actually cheaper and there's a better selection. The grape frost reminds me of grape kool aid. Yum.

I even put the armrest between my hubby and I down. I havn't been able to do that in years! I guess this is my first NSV!! WOOHOO!!! Good luck to all of those being banded this week. My thoughts and prayers go out to you!

Hey Merry May'ers! I had a huge NSV this weekend... I saw friends I haven't seen since about a month before surgery. When I got out of the car at their house, one of the folks said... "Oh my! Your face is getting skinny!" Yes, I'm glowing....

Weird NSV ,the two rolls of fat on my back are gone! Good riddance!!

How about some NSVs!?!?
Princess Sarah replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is one month from my surgery date and I'm considering this to be my first nsv and that is I actually weight the same as what is says on my drivers license. May sound silly but I haven't been this weight in years! -
How about some NSVs!?!?
GG'sArtsMom replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't weigh myself often so most of my victories are NSV. Today was an incredible day for them. First of all, 2 pairs of jeans that were a little snug last WEEK are a bit loose this week, so I am officially down another size as of today. Second, I wanted to take one of my dogs for a walk since it was such a gorgeous night. I was only going to go 2 miles, but when I got to the point where I was going to turn around I realized that I felt great, not tired, my legs were feeling strong and powerful, so I kept going. We ended up walking 5 miles, and towards the end I had to slow down because my dog was getting tired, but not me! I thought that was incredible. -
How about some NSVs!?!?
zallykatz16 replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope your surgery went well @SGirl35. MY NSV is being able to cut my toe nails with out pain. P. S. what does NSV actually stand for? -
Hi All! Glad to report that I'm doing fine after yesterday's fill. The surgery center told me they gave me a 1.1cc fill. This morning I ate one scrambled egg. It was fine, but I felt pretty full and satisfied until lunch. (other than sipping coffee at my desk) For lunch, I had about 1/2-2/3 c. tuna salad. Did fine. Happy til supper. For supper, had a "lean gourmet" cheese lasagna. Did fine. Still happy now at 8:30 pm. Maybe I WAS just full from my 3pm yogurt. I seem to stay satisfied for about 4 hours! YEAHHHHHHHH!!! I have eaten cauliflower before, but my RNY-friend said maybe it was the "richness" of the cheese I put on it, not the cauliflower itself. I'll just have to see which foods work and don't...trial and error, I suppose. I don't understand the "spasms" either. No, I couldn't feel them, per se, but you could DEFINITELY see them on the fluoroscope! When I swallowed, the top of my stomach just pulsed. Noone said anything else, so I guess it doesn't matter, but I thought it odd that it has been "mentioned" each and every time I've had a fluoroscope. (including my pre-op upper GI!!) I'm still a little nervous about eating solids, but I'm going to start trying a few bites of something new at each meal so I can test stuff out. I'm excited that they suggested BEEF and CHICKEN and SALAD (which I thought would be no-no's forever!!) Oh, and I got my CAPSULE changed to a pill, so I can break it into pieces and NO BITTERNESS!!! Yeah! So far, all I can say has decreased in size is my wrist...my watch "hangs" on me now and it used to be skin tight! (I don't think that's a NSV though!) Several people have said my face is looking thinner, but I think it's my new (darker) hair color and/or the fact that I'm letting my hair grow out--but, I'll take what I can get!!!:biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1: I asked hubby last night (I actually kinda "set him up" I guess!) if he would love me more when I get skinny. He immediately said "no". (5 points for him!!) Then, he said, well if I love you the same and you're thinner, then I guess PER POUND I'll be loving you more! He's got a "unique" style, but I took it as a compliment. So, I'm ready to get MORE LOVE PER POUND!!! *grin* It's almost Friday, so everyone hang in there. Later, Nanster

@@amylynns My arms are jiggly too and I can't seem to lose in my thighs very well. Major stubborn area. Calves too. Ughhhh! NSV: I went on a ropes and zip line course the other day and I was so proud and happy with myself that I did it! Taking those leaps of faith into thin air at 30 to 40 feet would NOT have been possible just 6 months ago and although my arms were a little shaky afterward from that and climbing up cargo nets, I have only a little soreness in my muscles. Pleasantly surprised! Before, I would have been out of breath after the first course and worried about the weight limit and if the cable would hold me.

Kristen, throw that Halloween candy in the garbage! That's what you would tell me so do it for yourself. We're supposed to get Papaya Enzyme. I got mine at Walmart and the brand name is Spring Valley and they are chewables. It's not very expensive for 180 tablets and the holistic Dr I spoke to yesterday said we can take 6 if needed. Caryn, I know that protein drinks do that to me too. Now I need to cut out the black beans in my hubby's wonderful turkey chili and no more sweet potato fries for me. I just started the probiotic and maybe between that, watching what I am eating more carefully and the Papaya Enzymes i can reduce the gas. Sorry about TMI. Last night we ordered Outback takeout with friends. I was amazed that I actually stopped and felt full after les than half of my petie filet and less 1/4 of a baked potato. I ate all my salad with their Tangy Tomato dressing and felt full so I stopped without eating even half of my dinner. A real NSV for me. I thought their dressing was low fat so I used it. NOT! That house salad was 216 calories. I should have checked it before I ate it. If I know I am going somewhere out to eat I always check to see if their menu is online. If I had, I would have taken off the croutons and used my own dressing. I really did enjoy it but looking back I should have been more careful. Since I had not eaten much yeserday I was 156 calories over my 1100 so it will probably be OK. Overeating on salad, dumb mistake. :mad3: We can do this! Blessings, GG

Karey...sounds wonderful! I got a bathing suit last week (one of those "Miracle Suits") on sale for$25 instead of $100 plus. It's actually a tankini! Size 16 for now...hopefully less by the middle/end of summer. Mim....have you noticed that your balance is off? Hope you are feeling better each and every day. Thanks for the encouragement BTW. A new NSV for me today....the weather was a cool 63 degrees with a light breeze and I ran 5 miles! I enjoyed every minute of it! Not sure what to do when the temps get up over 100 but I plan on finding something else to do. This is just too good to be true....a first for me ever! Sadly, the scale does not reflect what is happening....I am at 190 this morning...up one pound. Just realized that the scale hasn't really moved in a month. Getting a fill tomorrow. I am so ready!!!

So much for doing fine. I was going to try to not watch my carbs as strictly over the weekend and just eat "sensibly". Which started off alright. I even had what I thought was the most fantastic NSV of my life when on Friday my husband announced I no longer needed to lose any weight. I was flabbergasted to say the least! It was the first time since I ever knew him that he didn't think I needed to diet, and only the second person (besides my mother that is) to have ever told me that. And that was over 20 years ago! You would think I'd be over the moon, and I was all that night. I kept thinking how happy his comments had made me and how much weight seemed to be lifted off my shoulders to know that from now on any weight I continued to lose was truly being lost just for me and not for him or anyone else. But ofcourse it didn't last. The very next day he was all over my case about something I was eating that he thought I shouldn't be able to eat with the band saying he thought it showed I needed another fill. And to make matters worse he added that it disturbed him that I had "read so much" into his one innocent comment about my not needing to lose any more weight. It made me feel like he was having second thoughts about having ever said it. I don't know if it was because he was afraid I would take it as an excuse to stop watching what I ate and start gaining again or if he hadn't really meant it when he said it but I don't think he could have said anything more hurtful to me after having made me so happy. Then just to fullfill the prophecy I had to turn around and eat 2 slices of cherry pie that he bought at the grocery store, a king size candy bar and a snickers ice cream bar to boot. And if I get a chance I'm still of the mood to go out and get a chocolate frozen custard with chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in. All behind his back ofcourse and now I've gained half of what I lost back and am so disappointed in myself. Why do I let him get to me like this?

Sounds like we all getting fills now, finally! I am getting my 4th teeny tiny .25 cc. fill tomorrow but I do feel like I am getting close to the green zone. My appetite is getting less and I get full faster which is a good thing. It still makes no sense to me how we eat 900-1000 calories a day and are not loosing tons of weight. That's normal in our situation I guess but it sure can be frustrating. Catherine, I hope that fill goes well for you and your weight loss continues. Chick, keep us posted. Hoe are you doing now? Jess, chicken is not good to me either. Ms lady, let us know how it goes. Cake girl, have that appetizer, you can do it and stay on program. It is so hard to watch others eat isn't it? Bobrocky, maybe saltines explode when they go down. LOL Glad you are feeling some restriction. Hope the next time it goes down easier. Ctarintina, 30 lbs is amazing. Keep up the good work. Caryn, good job. Keep it up. Helathywoman, I can't wait to see those 180's. Good job. Did anyone get much snow or loose their electricity? My youngest lives in NY in Sunnyside and they got a few inches. Chich, I thought of you. Stay warm. I had a few NSV's today at church. 3 people asked me how I was loosing weight and said I looked good. I'm at 19 lbs and I've always heard it takes at least 15 lbs for anybody to notice. I said exercise and counting calories, which is true. I have not told many people yet about my lapband. I will when I loose a lot more weight. I just don't want people watching me and asking how I am doing or like some of your experiences of asking why I have not lost more weight. How is everybody else dealing with telling people about your lapband? Keep those reports coming about your fills, unfills and victories. You never know when it's just the thing someone else needed to hear to help them. Have a great week, stay warm and on program. We can do this! Blessings, GG

Wom, Mim, great loss for the week! I know the fill has been a little challenging, but it sure is great the see the results! lisalee, I know what you mean about NSVs. They are really much more important than a number on the scale. Just knowing that I'm making progress has taken a load off my shoulders. I think I was in a low-level depression for many months (years?), and I've pulled out of that. I don't know if it's the weight loss, the fact that I'm getting better nutrition, or a combination of both, but it seems like my mind is clearer, colors brighter, and it seems a little easier to face problems and stop procrastinating. Mom, I'm down 2 more pounds this week. Good luck to all of you for a great week! Tami

Calling all A11s!!
LisaAnnMurray replied to CarynW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well Guys and Gals. I went for my 4th fill appt on the 19th. My doctor asked if I wanted a fill and I told hime "a little". Just a little because I was feeling pretty tight before hand. He did the fill and I drank the "yuck" and watched it go down. I went home prepared to do broth two days and so forth. lunch went down ok. dinner Soup was a no go. I got choked in the middle of the night and from then til after noon the next day I could barely swallow even my own salvia. I got sick several times and was feeling bad. I have a lap band friend that I called and she insisted I call the dr and go back. I did. They took out a little more than they put in on Monday and I go back in three weeks. I still have the tight feeling. My fitness pal is showing I have lost 16 pounds and don't know why. I have lost 29. I had my NSV of going from 18W to a 16 misses and from a 2xl shirt to xl. I am so excited to start seeing a difference in my clothes. I thought Thanksgiving would be hard but I fixed my very small plate and ate slowly, and actually cut a piece of cake and nibbled a little but didn't eat much . Wasn't as good as it use to be. GG, I will be praying for you. I pray that all of us are good during Christmas and don't gain. Merry CHRISTmas to you all. -
ok J, YOU KNOW what stress can do to us girls. You need to go for a massage!!! Get that stress out and let that weight go!!!! I was wondering where you were at today, good thing they got it fixed at work!!!!!J, ARE YOU WEIGHING DAILY?????? I would hope YOU ARE NOT!!! If you are, I am coming over there to take away the scales!!!! Personally I think your problem is stress!!! You know how it mess with your periods, so it can mess with your mind and your weight too!!! I think you probably have also gotten a bit a muscle gain from this last weekend!!! A pound or two maybe being built up, and now you are not going to see a drop on the scale but what about other nsv's???? How many of those do you see EVERYDAY!!!! Chin up girlie!! Oh, and I had my Vitamins, shake form, this morning, very very weird feeling. Then I had some minestrone Soup blenderized. About 1/4 c. Then just not interested. Then just now, I had about 1/2 c. refried Beans. This restriction thing sure is WEIRD feeling, compared to what I have been working with!!!! I think I might like it though, I was up to eating way more than two cups of food at a time, and snacking. SO, I do think it was my time. I just hope no more getting stuck episodes are in my near future!!!!

I forgot to tell my NSV....at school today several of my classmates that I have been going to school with for two years now, did NOT recognize me!!!!!! That made me super excited.....
