QUESTION FOR LADIES ONLY - UTIs

You may want to visit a urologist to see if there is an underlying cause. I once read an account from someone that had a kind of pouch form on her urethra. The pouch held onto infected liquid, and so the infection never really would clear. Thus, recurrent infections. I have no idea how common such a thing could be, but just thought I'd mention it. And, of course, cranberry juice, orange juice, lots of water, etc. Personally, I've only ever had two (touch wood), and they both happened after TMI... anal sex... despite a shower right after. Be sure to empty your bladder after any sex. (I know it is tempting to go right to sleep). There are supplements that are supposed to help, but I'm not that versed in them. Good luck, and let us know if you figure anything out!

    Do you still eat popcorn?

I still eat popcorn occasionally, though my surgeon advised not to. There is not much nutritional value in popcorn, but perhaps TMI, it is still a very effective laxative for me. Like others, I limit the amount I eat, and choose the lower calorie versions.
  3. Okkkk update. I went number two yayyyy it was not really bothering me not going I was just concerned, (sorry if this is tmi but i want to write everything in case it might help others) I went very little and it was kind of soft in consistency. Oooook let’s talk about something else. Food I have been eating the same meaty soup/purée for the past couple of days it has been good on my tummy and is delish. I I’m eating the same thing few days at a time so that when something doesn’t go down well I know exactly what it was. Ok other things that have been happening, my incisions have started feeling a bit tender like a little bit of pain and burning I think it was due to rubbing against clothing so I covered them and it has helped. Also yesterday and today I have felt week and a bit trembly for the first time. Yesterday was just for a few minutes today I feel week in general, idk maybe my body is complaining about not eating enough. The pain in the inside has diminished quite a bit is way way lower I can get up and down with very little pain, sometimes it is a bit stronger than others but nothing compared to how it was before. Overall I’m happy, I look skinnier and that always makes me feel good lol. The premiere protein shakes taste awesome the only thing is they leave a light after taste that is not very pleasant, idk if is just me or for everyone but it happens to me every time. Well that is it I think if anyone has any questions I’ll be glad to answer anything

  6. My BM just liquid sorry TMI (well like dark green) kinda like a babys first time i guess since technically our stomach is brand new with RNY lol

    Muscle Depletion?

No kidding. I went for a followup with my nutritionist and she's got me reading about "Lactate Thresholds' and heart monitoring. Geez, I never had any of this information 40 years ago wen I was in high school and running. This might be TMI in the real sense of the words.
  8. Yesterday I had a dumping incident after eating a bit of spicy Indian chicken to fast. It was about 30 grams. I became violently ill and (tmi) I felt like my stomach and intestines were being torn in half. This was 20 hours ago. Today i cannot hold anything down. Protein shakes, protein yogurt, protein crackers, rice cakes (advised by my nutritionist) come back up. I am only able to tolerate 0% sugar applesauce and water. Has anyone experienced this? Has anyone experienced not having a sufficient amount of protein. How negative can this impact my weightloss?

Why i cant tolerate food anymore?

Just last night I experienced something like this. I didn't over eat but I gagged and vomited. I was really trying not to but I kept having to and only bile came up. Tmi, I know but I was really surprised coz I've been fine for a month, since the surgery. Then I tried to put something else in my system and voila, did it again. It was horrible so I was afraid to eat today. Thank goodness for muscle milk and Isopure to get my Protein. I just know I need to put more calories in coz I don't want to wreck my metabolism. Grrrrrrrr. Good things come to good people.
  10. Thanks everyone! I am so flipping excited, I couldnt believe my eyes this morning when I hopped on the scale! I am confident that I will never see the 200s again, in life! My first major goal was reached on today! Cant believe it. My second major goal is to get to 190 lbs by New Years Eve! I know it doesnt sound that difficult but trust me, my body does what it wants to do from time to time. LOL And as women we have to consider our monthly cycles because I tend to gain about 3-4 lbs during that time. (Sorry men, that was a TMI). Let's have a cyber party for ONDERLAND! Woo-Hoo! But we will not be eating any cake only protein bars and protein shakes! lol :lol0: P.S. Rene, im so happy that you have your sleeve date- Keep me updated on what hospital you will be in. I would love to come by and give you some support-since we are in the same town. It always help when you have support!

    Newer You... older habits...

I'm totally in that class of people who pick out the big clothes first, thinking there's no way I'll fit into a small or size 4-6, but I do. My ears still perk up at those weight loss commercials and I've noticed now how many of them there are. TMI - but I still feel really self conscious undressing in front of my man... somehow I don't see that my body's not fat anymore. My legs are thin and toned, I have a defined waist and nice, curvy hips.
  12. Pickles-I see your point that you have lost that much before, but just like you said yourself...how long did you keep that off? That's the difference. Losing that much with a defective port is awesome and just think...now that it's fixed you will start getting fills and get some restriction and it will feel less like a diet. I opt to keep my band a tad bit loose because yes I do eat the dreaded BREAD once in a great while. I just choose the whole wheat kind with lots of fiber (and hey TMI, but with the high protein I can use all the fiber i can get!) I know for me personally if I feel deprived, I snap and got way overboard with the bad food. So yes I don't always eat things that are what my surgeon would consider good. He also said that yes in a perfect world he would like me to never touch cake or cookies or ice cream or chips ever again, but he knows that that's really not realistic and said if I really want or feel like I need something, incorporate the extra calories (eat really good the rest of the day) and try to go by the 3 bite rule which really works well for me. I can take 3 bites and be satisfied and not feel deprived. Hope this makes sense and helps!
  13. A little background... So a big reason for me to have WLS was to be healthy enough to get pregnant. A year ago this month I had my first appointment with a fertility specialist. At that time my cycle was anywhere between 55-80 days (I think). I remember that they gave me medicine in November to bring on my period so they could do 3 day blood work, and it still took 11 days before my period actually came. They determined my fibroids were so large (as well as small) and numerous that I needed to have them removed before proceeding with treatment. I was also diagnosed with PCOS (although my PCP had diagnosed it 2 years previous as well). I had the open surgery to remove the fibroids in Jan. 09 and my next 2 cycles were fairly normal (around 36 days). Then I started really packing on the weight and had an 80 day cycle. I began researching weight loss surgery (there were other factors as well). Well, for the NSV... This month I had a 28 day cycle! After the last two years, it is just so amazing. I actually recorded the date I thought I ovulated and it was exactly 14 days into the cycle. I am so excited and hopeful that this will continue.

    Tmi Allert!

2 weeks out for me. We did it slowly to make sure nothing happened, but there were no problems. I was on my side. Sorry if tmi
  15. I have read so much that has helped me and I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else finds things in it that can help them. Day of Surgery Good experience in the hospital. They are a “center of excellence” and really know what they’re doing. I made use of my pain pump through the night but, by morning, was pretty much off it. I wanted to be alert for all that was going on around me and what people were telling me. According to my surgeon, all went well. The only red flag of any kind was an upper GI/leak test that the doc said was “delayed” – meaning I swallowed that god awful stuff and it sat at the top of my sleeve and took several minutes to trickle on through. Even though, I guess I passed. Post Op Day 1 – car ride home...every bump killed. I hate potholes! Got home to find I it was difficult to get comfortable in any chair we have in this house. Forget the bed – no way to get in or out. Rethinking my decision to leave the hospital so soon…maybe should have stayed the extra day. I’m freaking out a little about blood clots, pneumonia, and dehydration. It sucks to feel fear in the midst of feeling so dang crappy. My abdomen burns. Incision pain and weird internal pain… Gave myself my first (of 10) Lovenox shot. This is something I was a little queasy about but it turns out it’s no problem at all. Don’t worry guys – this is easy compared to some of the other hurdles to face. Day 2 – aren’t I supposed to be able to sip? All I can do is splash enough liquid in my mouth and swallow like it’s spit. Any more than that (even the tiniest of sips) HURTS! Waves of pain and nausea. The nausea med my doc gave me helps. But it’s “minty” and dissolves under the tongue. So gross! I can’t tell if I hurt inside (digesting) or outside (incisions) – probably both. I’m a little panicked. My left shoulder is beginning to really hurt – I suspect it’s gas. This is an emotional day. It’s hard to sound upbeat on the phone with concerned family members and not let on that I’m slightly freakin’ out. Day 3 - I think things are getting better. I was able to drink 6 oz. of apple juice (over the course of an hour). That’s the most I’ve had to drink since surgery. I think I’m figuring out what I can and can’t drink. Liquid Tylenol=too thick, I think. Apple juice=nice! Just tried warm chicken broth and that was nice, too! Put some red G2 in the a cup in the freezer – great suggestion by someone out there, I forget who. Left shoulder is better today. Day 4 – keep on course… it’s getting better. My left side is out of “anguish” and into mere “achy.” I’m feeling much better physically. I find that if I stay pretty regular on anti-nausea and main meds, I can keep this thing under control. The best part of the day was a popsicle for dinner. Aaahhh – yum! I was significantly more upbeat and found myself tidying up the kitchen table, folding blankets, and stuff. My family says I look waaaaaaaay better. Day 5 – much better day! I woke up with dry, dry mouth and nausea and it occurred to me that I might be getting dehydrated. I started the day determined to up my liquids and sipped on a 16 bottle of Water. Before too long (about an hour), it was gone! I had 8 oz. of apple juice, 6 oz. of chicken broth, and 16 more oz. of water. I am able to do this! The more liquids I can take in, the better. The sips are nearing drinks (certainly nowhere near a gulp!) and I feel like my body is getting what it needs. I’m able to swallow my small meds (pre-surgery) OK. I was worried about being able to take them, but it’s working out. Got up in the night with a little reflux (generic CVS acid reducer tablets work great!) and – TMI warning – diarrhea! Oh joy. Glad to know there’s something in there to move out, but oy – clean up was interesting considering I can’t really twist/lean in the mid section. Day 6 – Woke up feeling rested and positive about the day. My panic/anxiety is all gone and I’m feeling great. Had warm diluted apple juice for Breakfast. Feeling like the swallowing thing is all good at this point. My big problem now is abdomen pain. Incision areas burn when I bend/twist/reach down. Getting out of bed is the worst. I’m still taking pain meds because of this, though I’d like to wean off all pain med if I could. I can’t imagine exercising in the near future…walking is all I can handle (and not a heck a lot of it at one time). Day 7 – Very sore…wait a minute, could this be gas pain? I’m worried about pulled muscles or abscesses but maybe these are pockets of gas trapped internally? Anyone have any experience with this? First official weigh-in = down 5 pounds! Well, I’ve made it through the first week. In some ways it seems like only as long as a day, but in others, as long as a whole month. So may emotions and changes. I feel like I'm through the roughest part.
  16. Hi Dianmi, I'm having surgery on the 14th and still on the liquid diet and I've been experiencing the same thing, I took 2 Dulcolax yesterday but it didn't do anything for me. Maybe this is tmi but I can go but it's very hard and very little and I fee like there's more, today I bought some Miralax hopefully that will help.
  17. I am in purée/ soft food stage (sorta in between) and I noticed a little constipation the other day and dr office said to take fiber so I did all day yesterday but then I didn’t go at all. After surgery they said if you didn’t go for two days it was the start of a big deal is this the same now? Should I just take the milk of magnesia after two days like right afterwards. Is getting enough fiber going to be a lifelong challenge?
  18. @@Dar200 You sound just like me. Day 1 4 tablespoons, lots of rumbling. Day 2, 4 tablespoons, 2 hours later full eruption! The funniest part is when the stool that is plugging you up comes flying out. Then, on the verge of TMI, chocolate pudding for about 1/2 an hour. Then it is over. Weight yourself if you can before the second BM. I lost 5 pounds in one sitting. It made my week.

    Should I be worried?

I take a GNC Solotron chewable multi-Vitamin twice daily. These are by far the best multi-vitamin I have been able to find for my needs. Plus, they taste yummy, and I don't have to swallow a horse pill. They contain bioavailable Iron which is a necessity for me since I still have all my reproductive organs, and have menstrual cycles. Sorry if that's TMI. Anyways, I take 2 of the multi-Vitamins daily (morning and evening), and I take 1 sublingual 2500 mcg B12.
  20. Had gastric bypass last month and I've been doing really well recovery wise. Warning - there is some TMI in this post, but I really need help... Background info: My BMs since surgery have been regular but...flaky? Not liquid diarrhea, but just - kinda powdery. Didn't think much of it since I figured well, I've been eating so much less and, blah blah. But then, the past couple of days I could "feel" the constipation was oncoming (I've had it my whole life, I know the feeling). I took some stool softeners, no bueno. Fast forward to last night - I was on the toilet all night off and on, crying out in pain, almost passing out and nauseated and feeling like I was gonna puke. I could "feel" this rock hard huge BM was right there at the edge, and even having to urinate was hell bc it would put pressure on it and I could feel it trying to come out but, it was NOT gonna come out. By 4am, I was close to having husband take me to urgent care bc I knew it was "impacted" in there. I tried a couple of enemas, as hellish as that was - absolutely no help. Finally later this morning I managed to pass the monster-brick-hard BM (TMI - this involved my awkward digital breakup attempts, also hell) that has probably been in there this whole time I thought the "flaky" BM's were "normal." 😨 And I felt relief, but then next time I tried to go to the bathroom, a couple of hours ago, I can tell there's more, and it hurts. 😰 Oh and I did call the doctor (first thing this morning) and he said to take Milk of Magnesia and drink lots of water. Done. But research on this wonderful site has given me all other kinds of good advice regarding routines and products, etc. etc. - . I will be using it. Where I need guidance/advice: So, I'm in the "soft/mushy" foods phase of the post-op regimen. I've been continuing with at least 1 Premier Protein shake a day, sometimes two - to help get in enough protein (it's so hard to reach my daily goal!). Then for dinner I've been having one of the following: Mushed up lowfat cottage cheese - OR - hard boiled egg blended up in my mini-blender with a tiny dollop of lite mayo and mustard - OR - also using my mini-blender, ground up moistened chicken breast with a tiny bit of lite mayo and celery salt (my version of "chicken salad" lol) - OR - watered down and mushed up refried beans with a bit of green salsa. I'm also meeting/ exceeding my 64oz fluid requirement daily (mostly water, some herbal teas) - and in fact usually surpass that. Are there any soft foods phase "meals" y'all can recommend that can - along with the other stuff like MOM, Colace, etc. - help prevent constipation or at least not actively contribute to it? Are my foods listed above not "ideal"? I'm going by doctor's list of recommendations - but admittedly only sticking to a very few of the choices. I try to keep things simple basically. I've had constipation issues my whole life, even as a young child - and nothing is more terrifying to me honestly - I even had to have a hemorrhoidectomy last year it got so bad - and if this crap continues (ha ha, get it) I know I'll be headed down that road again, which is a nightmare I never wish to repeat. 😩 ANY advice on what other soft foods that could help with avoiding constipation I should start including in my diet would be really helpful, thanks so much in advance!

    Psychology appt anxious

The problem i have with food is i know when i am full but i go back for more for instance dinner i eat until i am full but i make the excuse that i want more i don't know how to explain it and i drink a lot of fluids and then i feel bloat and i hate the feeling it gives me i lose my breath and the only way for me to feel better and to catch my breath is to lay on my back in bed and then i let out this burp ( sorry TMI i know) then i get up and feel a little better anyway what causes the bloat ? 22. I am a week and a day post op! I was really hoping to be up and at em by now, but I still have such pain in the main surgery area that I still can't even wipe myself(sorry TMI) if I get up and move around it does ease up and I think I'm on the mend, but it never seems to get any better! I'm supposed to go back to work on Friday(my choice, I am a nail tech) but I don't think I'm going to be able to do it! Did anyone else have this searing pain and any tips in how to get rid if it? Thanks so much!

    Tattoo Or Not To Tattoo

I have 8 tattoos(all were done before surgery) and now only 1(on my chest above my upper left breast) is changing. I've developed a tremendous amount of extra skin in my breast area(sorry TMI) in the last 3 months and it isn't looking so great. I'm actually in the process of having it removed! Best advice wait until your at or near goal so it will be absolutely beautiful!
  24. WARNING: Might be TMI for some...I am about 14 weeks out from surgery and yesterday morning I woke up to intense cramping in my abdomen and diarrhea. I am usually constipated and only go about every two weeks. This cramping has continued now for more than 24 hours. I was up all night last night every hour on the hour with this intense cramping. I have no more stool left so nothing comes out, just horrible cold sweat cramps coming every minute or so. It felt like labor but it was in my intestines. I feel weak and tired now and my tummy still hurts and cramps but not as intense. Its in my lower abdomen. Has anyone had this happen? I didnt change my diet at all. I eat Talapia for supper most nights as I did the night this began. Any suggestions on what to do? Sorry if this is TMI for some.
