    January Dates

This is gross and TMI...but have any of you post-op people experience any diarrhea? I seem to go maybe 2 times a day since surgery. I am deinking enough fluids so as I don't get dehydrated!
  2. I was banded Friday January 18 and so far, so good. I've been talking short walks, sticking to the liquids diet, and taking small sips/bites. I'm glad I've made this choice, but healing has been harder than I was expecting. I'm not sure if what I am feeling is gas pain or something else. Its this tight, squeezing feeling inside. Sometimes it happens after eating or drinking, and sometimes it happens for no apparent reason. It's quite uncomfortable but lasts only a few seconds. Maybe these are hunger pains in my new sore stomach? Other than these pains, I haven't had a bowel movement since before surgery. I feel like I maybe could but it hurts to push! Lol sorry if that's TMI

    Hellish Bowel Prep Tomorrow

I will consider all those things except I cannot have prune juice because I get a JP drain for a week. He said it could be mistaken for blood if there should be a problem. lmao this is TMI but I also made sure I was stocked up on Baby Wipes... Sounds like I might need them.

    Gas pain

I am post op 6 day and I am just now feeling better. It was awful. I did not get any relief until I took some MOM. For some reason, I could not fart. I know TMI but I just want you to know I totally understand what you are going through right now. Today is the 1st day I have truly felt better. Hang in there....

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I travel nearly week and haven't triggered on the staples. However, jeans with thick seams/buttons will do it. TSA also told me that tampons can occasionally trigger (ewwww TMI!) With the new total body scans, it's about density more than metal.
  6. Okay so i haven't been having any trouble with BMs until today! After about 30 mins sitting on the porcelain god it was stuck and WAY too big. Had to leave work and urgent care wasn't open. Got some stool softeners and took one. It finally passed thank you Jesus but it hurt like all get out! Do i take the stool softeners everyday or just when needed?

    Two Questions.....

Congrats on your surgery date!!! I found gas pains minimal as long as I forced myself to walk at least a few minutes ever hour and at night I would use a hitting pad to relax my abdomen muscles enough to let the gas out(maybe a little TMI but it was very helpful for me). As far as the drinking, well not drinking, it was definitely an adjustment at first. I used a timer for a long time to remind me of the rules. Honestly there are times I still set a timer to refocus myself when I get off track. Staying focused and remembering the rules will help keep you successful.

    HELP! i'm concerned!

I think everyone has different bowel experiences. I have not been constipated at all. I am 6 and 1/2 weeks out. I tend to still have loose although not uncontroled or rushing to bathroom. Sorry if that is TMI just wanting to say don't worry loose or constipated it all seems to be normal on here.

    tmi alert!

I was on my period when I had surgery also.when the surgeon came round to speak to me before surgery I informed him sheepishly that I had my period and that It was pretty heavy (tmi) He told me to keep my pants and pad on for surgery even though the nurses would tell me to take them off. I explained to the nurses what the surgeon said and all was fine. ( I didn't have a catheter but made sure I went to the toilet straight before surgery). Ask your surgeon when he comes to see you before surgery, I'm sure he will be fine with you keeping your pants on, just be sure to pack loose fitting ones so that they can easily roll them down and back up again if required (over your tummy) Xxxx

    December 2012 Post Op Group

Today I struggle some since I felt hungry most of the day, which is not the norm, I usually have to remind myself to eat. I ate my 3 meals, but then for a snack I had 3 small pretzels and 1 hershey kiss which I craved, I know bad. My stomach tolerated them, but they are not "good" for me. The hershey kiss tasted different than I remember them tasting, not as good, so strange. I am sure if I had 2 or more I would have gotten sick though. But overall not a bad day, I actually was a lot more thirsty after the pretzels, so I drank 1 extra bottle of water than I normally did and then a big BM, yes, sorry tmi, but the water must have did it. I also tried artifical crab meat today, I really liked it, protein is good, I just wish their wasn't so much sodium in them. So excited to be on regular foods now, but I am finding myself still going back to previous favorites...greek yogurt, chili, refried beans and cheese, and eggs.

    Period & Devo shots

I’m pre-op 44 and have a Merina IUD - I used to have the gigantic chunky heavy periods (TMI) and the only thing that would stop them was meds - that I KNOW we can’t take post surgery. The Merina has reduced my period 90% and I get that icky brown junky stuff - once in a great while I get enough to wear a pad - but almost always it’s just a tiny bit. the first 6 months were horrible - but I’d do it again and again - knowing how it was after that first few months. I have 2 friends - but with the merina - neither had the 6 months of irregularity I had - and both have ZERO period now - I hope when I loose my weight I’ll be the same as them. Good luck.
  14. I'm sorry to just start off with tmi but has anyone else has extremely bad runs from the pre op liquid diet. In afraid to leave my house because I won't have a bathroom near by. I don't know if its the protein mic or the 1% milk or what. I'm just having a really bad go of it.

    TMI?

Not TMI at all, in fact a very common question I can't speak for others, but I won't lie, I'm tons more gassy now than I was before being banded. I personally think it's because before I was eating mostly processed carbs (junk food) and fat. Now, I eat a lot of lean meat and veggies. Both are great for you but both also tend to cause a lot of gas.

    TMI?

I am three weeks post op and still have terrible gas! Is this still from surgery or is this a forever thing with the lap band? I take enough gas x for a village

    January 14th

Hello, everyone! I also had my surgery on Monday the 14th. I was released from the hospital Tues afternoon and I'm feeling pretty good. Is everyone on a sugarfree clear liquid diet? The program I am in lets us have one bottle isopure zero card rtd protien supplement a day. I've been drinking a lot of fluids and haven't had much pain or any vomiting. I have had diarrhea since Weds so I have to go to the lab and give them a stool sample tomorrow. Sorry if TMI.
  19. I haven't had a ton of pain, which is great - the worst part is the gas, and I'm managing it. I've urinated, I've had a bowel movement (TMI, right?), everything seems on track. But I can't manage to get in the water and protein I'm supposed to. After a couple sips, I have a tightness under my sternum. I can breathe fine, and it's only marginally uncomfortable, but... is that my band? And how long before it loosens up? Also, I feel like I've got phlegm in my mouth sometimes that needs to be swallowed - what's causing this? I haven't had any nausea since the first day, but I also think I'm maybe playing it *too* safe because I'm scared of vomiting and slippage, and I haven't figured out what little twinges are the band or my stomach, and which ones are related to surgery and my incisions. Help!
  20. I have an iud, got my period a couple days after surgery and really bled off and on for 2 weeks. Usually its 5-7 days and its so lite I just wear a panty liner. Not this time. I was just sleeved dec 27. So hopefully its back to normal next month. Sorry if tmi but u asked!

    I Can't Wait Till....

I can't wait to- Ride horses again Ski the whole day, not just a few runs. Do Crossfit Wear cute clothes Cut my hair short again tmi- I want a bikini wax, and be able to see it... Be the hot wife and mom I know is in there somewhere! Not have any more knee surgeries because I do things I probably shouldn't at my weight. To have the gobbler (chin) gone.
  23. For the past week I've felt bloated and I hadn't had a BM. Tonight at dinner I had the intense urge to buckle over, I had the worst stomach pain for about 10 minutes, so I went to the bathroom. I swear I must've eliminated at least 5lbs of waste. It's like what I had for dinner decided to kick start my bowels and get them moving again. Now I feel soo much better and the bloating is gone. This is the 2nd time that this has happened since surgery. Has anyone else experienced this?
  24. Well, I'm all set for my surgery tomorrow at 1:00 PM, and lo and behold... Aunt Flow decides to visit me 3 days early!! So gross! Has anyone had any experience with this when they had their surgery? I just cannot imagine laying there without anything to... uh... "sop up the mess" so to speak. LOL! I don't know why I'm so mortified by this. I'm positive my doctor has seen anything and everything by now.

    Help Ladies!

I was super heavy day of surgery. They gave me a pad and all was well. Post op though, be forewarned that you probably won't be able to wipe. So have a willing family member ready or ask a nurse. My step mom put on gloves, grabbed a wad of toilet paper and wiped me a few hours out of surgery. SO humiliating but it felt wonderful to be dry!!! I had to ask nurses to wipe me that night and the day after and they kinda half butted it. I like to be completely dry inside and out, not just a quick swipe without going between the lips. Sorry, tmi, but it's true. And I was too shy to ask her to wipe harder and go between. Had a shorter cycle and then was about a week late for my next period. I was hella nervous because of my period. My surgeon was a male, lol, and yeah. But I survived and so will you! I wouldn't recommend tampons. I prefer tampons but can you imagine trying to pull out the string after major stomach surgery? Pads are easier!!!
