    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

#14 - Biggest NSV so far I'm going to change this to my biggest NSV this month .... hiking without feeling anxious I would be out of breath, sweaty, overly exhausted, and generally just feel embarrassed about my weight. That was a huge reason I avoided physical activity, I felt humiliated I was so out of shape.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Hi ladies, Sarsar, sorry things are rough right now... I'm sure things will look up soon for you. I took my little doggie out today for a bird watching trip... a lot of it was car bird watching... which is really good, it doesn't scare the birds off as much a walking around. (we did walk around too, but not so much for birdwatching) I got lots of pics. Ill post a couple. It just makes me feel so good and relaxed when I go out birdwatching... its so beautiful in nature, and there are so many birds out there right now.. I saw flocks and flocks of swans today... really cool. I also think I might have had a break in my "art block" I have had a really hard time feeling up to making art lately... really for around 6 months or so... just not me... but a couple of things just set a spark in me today... I hope I can get the mojo back! Great NSV today too, I went to dance class and there are two tiny, sporty girls there that have been coming to class for maybe 3-4 months now, really nice and committed to the class....much younger than me... anyway today they were saying how the class is kicking their butts, and it is so hard, even their hands hurt! And they are trying to get one of the trainers to come and try the class and how it will kick his butt too.... I told them I had lost 91 pounds while taking the class, and they about fell on the floor. The class really works you, but it does not kick my a$$ any more... I just do it....(with a little grace I might add) and to think that these two sporty, hiking, rock climbing, bike riding girls are getting beat up by the same workout I do.... it just blows my mind! I know the stuff they do would kill me too... different set of muscles... but It makes me really proud, because I have never thought of myself as "sporty" and here I am... in the big leagues! I always liked QOC, she seems like a great adventuresome lady... I say yes if the rest of you agree. Laura!!!!! Come look at my bird photos! Then post a <3 because I know you'll love them!
  4. Question: If my little demon kitty finds sitting at my feet to be his favorite place, does this mean I've hit another NSV moment? As in I've lost my belly so my boobs are 'hanging low' (no shelf) and instead of my food falling on my boobs, it's actually falling to the floor? Bahahaha...ok TMI I think. Melody
  5. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Just spent 25 min writing a lengthy note, and one of my kittens jumped up on my laptop and closed it ! I mean the whole computer !!!! SO, i'm gonna try this again ..... Anne - Congrats! the really WILL fly by! So happy for you HB - 12"Snow? WHere do you live? Antarctica? I'm in ND and it 70 here today ! Christie - Congrats on being Obese :-) Leigha - great goal! Happy Bandiverssary to those celebrating! No word yet from the douch at sears optical. That was Monday! LOSER I cant wait until the 5 of may - going on a scrapbook retreat for 5 days! Its at a resort in Minn. Lake, pool, hiottub, private cabins, meals served, golf, etc... its called Fair Hills Resort - sooo beautiful. we go there twice a tear ( spring and fall ) for these. Have any of you scrapbooked your journey?? I am. I saved all my paper work from pro op , classes, post op , and wrote my weight and nsv's in my calendar and transfered them. I have tons of before and progress pics. I figure the first 2 years are the most important. Its so cool to look at. I think WTF! Was I really that big?? I didnt feel like i was. I cant get over the difference. It makes me feel so proud to show it to others. Ok, kittens crawling up window screens !!!! Gotta go ! ttyl
  6. Welcome Larae, glad your here, congrats on the jeans! HB--I console myself on the boob shrinkage by saying "Well at least my stomach is shrinking under them!" of course, this really doesn't help but I say it anyway. By the way, if anyone finds my missing boobs my husband would like them back, maybe I should set up a reward for them? :cursing: Liz--In case I forget, have a safe trip this weekend. Besty--Is your new book a text book? Christy--I am with you on the grandparents thing, my grandparents were the only stable thing in my life and they get all the credit for me not being a complete nut case. NSV-- This morning when I tried to get dressed, nothing I had clean fit. So when I got off work I went to Academy (they have really good prices on clothes) so I found a pair of Capri pants that I thought would be my new size and tried them on they were too loose! I had to go back and get a smaller size. I cant remember the last time I was in a dressing room and had to go back and get a smaller size anything!

    I'm here to help...

OK Girls....this is going to be a "Me" post. Don't have time to talk much but I did get caught up on all your posts since being gone. Sad to say, I am about ready to be on my way out the door again until next Tuesday. Great NSV a bit ago. We have been having a very hot, hot spell. I just spent 2.5 hours in the hot sun tending to my flower beds and enjoyed it. No sweating, no passing out, no passing away. And, all this at 97 degrees. 2 yrs ago DH would have been planning a funeral (a very eloquent one, I would hope). Anyway, love you all. Driving to the lake this afternoon with puppa. 8am dental appt and only 27 miles from lake place but 70 from home. That's where I want to be anyway when I am recouping from this next procedure (s). I see this entire process not a lot different than getting to goal. Hurdles to jump, pain to be gone through, etc. I sooooooooooooooooooo miss you guys. Told DH today that I am going to try to find a way to get internet up there. I'm at a loss on how to do it. I think I should look into the phone thing and hook it up to laptop? Eva? Would that be a possibility????? OK...gotta run. Thanks for all the well-wishes with this mouth of mine. Protein shakes for a few days. I am one that misses chewing and cannot stand to miss a meal. Boohoo...poor me! I feel awful not talking to all of you and responding to your posts. Thanks for sharing the photos, Julie. Nice job. I also love that shade of green. Talk to you all soon. Sending the love

I hate it when people post just to post.....

passive aggressive. i'd let her re-do ALL the work, let her start making mistakes and sit back silently & smile or grin (well you know what).... i hate that style, i'd rather a full on bitch than play around games. love the suit & congrats all on the NSV's. it's not raining - so i'm going to be a full on country chick today and put my ipod on and ride my tractor & mow , and mow & mow some more. hope i don't run into any snakes:) happy hump day!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

luluc-Huge NSV! That is awesome! Beth-I hope you get someting soon. Also, good luck on the classes. Diva-Hi! Fanny-the snakes scare the crap out of me! I don't know how you do it. PJTP-I had my first semi-public PB today. That was not fun. I know it was stress induced. I was eating lunch when something happened at work that was my fault (thankfully it wasn't as bad as I initially thought). Needess to say, the food that I ate didn't want to go down. I couldn't make it to the bathroom, but thankfully no one was around. How do you deal with stuff like that? That was so odd and embarrassing! I haven't had any other trouble since then, but I moved my fill out a few days just in case.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

PJTP... Mac - congrats on your Tri - I just read your account of the race and I'm very impressed. You make me want to try one at some point in my future! :wink2: Beth and Glouc - congrats on the losses! I have another appt with my band doc this week, so I'll see what the last month has wrought...I think I'm down a few, maybe not enough, but enough to keep going! Baby goats sound cute, but in the city, there's no place to keep them. Although I do have a cross-town neighbor in the more rural part of my town that has llamas! Luluc - little pre-teen girls fitting into your clothes is a MAJOR NSV! It's cold and dreary here in CT today - no outside walk, but I'll row tonight...getting close to the end of the term for me. Statistics class is kicking my royal behind...be glad when it's over! Back to work - no rest for the wicked and those of us whose department is trying to cut costs...

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I guess this would qualify as an NSV: Boss asked me today if I had lost more weight. It's nice that somebody noticed.

Ebony - What a positive upbeat post! And such great NSV's...that should put a spring in your step!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I wear the shapers that go up to your bra line - and I have these corresett type ones too that help the girls look more perky (went from a 42 D to a 34 But did find a new bra at Pennys this weekend - love it... I can't stand to go w/o a shaper - I am too vain - I hate seeing rolls and if I didn't wear them - the saggy skin causes one - I like looking finish - beauty before comfort as my Mom use to say ;0) That was a great NSV - I don't look anything like my passport picture ;0) I forget how far out are you - your port shouldn't be bothering you that much - have you talked to your doc about it
  14. It's 99 degrees here and the humidity is 100050% (no joking) NSV. Hubby and I went t Wal-Mart to by him a hat and I heard someone calling my name. I turned around and it was a girl I used to work with about 4 years ago. We stood there and talked for a minutes about the band and she must have said to me at least five times, How good I looked. She kept saying it over and over. It's times like that that makes me love my band even more.
  15. Back from the funeral and finishing up my 2nd liter of water for the day. Got lots and lots of compliments today about the weight loss. And the best NSV was one lady saying those words I haven't heard in years and years and years.... "you're not going to lose much more weight, are you???" Never thought I'd hear those words, but it sure felt good. Yep, I said. got 23# to go to my first goal. Another lady said.. "I have two things to ask you. #1, will you be in Menopause the Musical if I get the rights for it and #2, tell me about lap band cause I really need something" Soooooooooooooo I just might be in a local production of Menopause the Musical. That's what I get for singing in public! And I invited her to the support group's next meeting Feb. 9. Funeral service went well. Reception afterwards was cookies, fruit, cheese and meat. I had some fruit and a couple cubes of cheese. I had to keep pushing the Bobster away from the lemon bars as he was telling me that lemon was a fruit so he could eat as many as he wanted. arghhhhhhhhh Tonight he has Bible study and I have to sit down at my keyboard and really work on some trouble spots in a couple of the songs my acapella group is getting ready for our concert in March. Tomorrow is hospital volunteer shift and rehearsal in the evening. Daughter Kris is coming over to spend the night and we'll do our Curves workout. Got to go check on dinner. chicken enchiladas from Schwans. Yums. TTFN....
  16. Good Thurs Morn, Vi's~~ It's only 9:29am and I've already had an AMAZING NSV!! DS and I purchased cheap-o tennis racquets & a bag o' balls yesterday and this morning he woke me up & we went down to the park and "played" tennis for an hour!! AND... he was actually impressed that I knew what I was doing and could hit the ball (me, too, come to think of it!!)!! I had sweat pouring... & I *hate* sweating!... but I liked it!! It's been YEARS since I've hit a ball... and I realized that a year or so ago I wouldn't have been able to do that... and I was happy & proud & MOTIVATED to CONTINUE the journey that I've been "pit-stopped" on for awhile now. Everyone think of at least one NSV for this moment... c'mon, you can do it!! & share w/the group.
  17. Good morning violets! Wow everyone be careful who is in that ugly weather. So glad your son in law is ok Judy. I'm sure that was so scary for him! Happy Birthday Laura!! The bracelet is beautiful!! Pam - so lucky that you get to go to Disney. I love that place. We haven't been in about 6 years. We all said the next time we go it's with our kids so that'll be a looonnnggg time from now, LOL! Haven't started on my water or anything this morning. I pledge to be a perfect bandster today. Cottage cheese for breakfast, turkey roll ups for lunch and I've got some chicken breasts defrosting for dinner. No snacking! Oh and major NSV... I wanted to share this pic with ya'll... All the girls in my family are teeny tiny and i've always felt like a huge cow around them. Just recently I've been feeling "normal" around them. Well someone took this picture on sunday and i look normal next to my freakishly little aunts!! it's finally starting to sink in that i can pass for normal...
  18. Tracy~ I used to get my lip waxed, and then about a week later, I'd have a dozen horrible blisters. I thought they were fever blisters, until after about 3 times, I realized it is from the hot wax. Now, I bought Sally Hansen Lip Dipilatory Cream, and do it at home about 3 times a year. Does not burn and more importantly does not blister. I must have sensitive skin there cause I get eyebrows done about 2x a month and beside some redness, no problems. Are you going for the Brazilian??? LOL Anyway, that is my 2 cents. I am sooo pissed again. I need a drink already and it is not even 11am. Oddly enough I don't drink but a few times a year...maybe I should start. NSV...3 large PINK BOXES full of donuts...walked right past them about 6 times already. Not worth the calories. Now chips, kickin salsa and a margarita...that is worth the calories!
  19. NSV. I ordered an Obama O8 long sleeved t shirt, XL. It arrived yesterday and it's tooooooooo big. But I'm wearing it anyway! I'm proud to be a Democrat, proud of Obama (sorry, Laura) and WAY proud that an XL is too big! Suzie... the pool heater is IN. Now it's waiting for the guys to dig the gas line. The pool guy said one of his customers had their pool open through November and it cost them $400 a month to heat it that last month! :smile2: I'm aiming to have it open through October and that's it. But at least we can open it up in April next year instead of June.
  20. Hey~ Today for food this is what I had: 1/2 c. low fat cottage cheese = 100c 1 Kashi gran. bar = 180c 3 oz tuna = 90c lettuce = ? oil/vinegar = 80 tangerine = ? 17 pretzles = 110c 1/3 cobb sal = ? 1 piece of garlic bread = ? 1 JAZZERCISE...kick yo ass class = priceless (LOL) OK...the last two entries were a bit naughty, especially the bread. My brother invited me to dinner (who could resist a free dinner w/ little bro @ fav resturaunt). I don't know what the total is. Before the invitation, I was planning on a Lean Cuisine (all for me these days, the dog is pretty upset I got an unfil...:frown: @ Michelle). Anyway, good, bad or indifferent I DONT KNOW. I am not gonna weigh for a week or two...just gonna keep doing good. I just dont want to see 250 again. I am sure you all are as tired of my 250 as I am. Anyway...that is my story. Oh yeah, about 60 oz of water! OK...have a great night. PS- Had a great NSV today. I wore a shirt that I bought tight, and wore once. The shirt was gapped at the buttons before (not sure what size). Anyway, I first put on a shirt and I was swimming in it. Looked horrible. So I see this "older" shirt, and thought, well I'll just try it and see. It looked great, plenty of room, I wore it today and got sooo many compliments. People today for the first time since April/May have said, "you're lookin good!" Woofreakinhoo ladies! Made me feel soooo good!
  21. Shelbi, I love you too Sweetpea! "A drive by post" that made me laugh! When I worked in the Ped's clinic doing triage, I used to have the parents bring their rash covered kids to the parking lot and I'd run out and check to see if they had anything contagious! We had a kid walk into a very busy clinic and play in the waiting room and he had the measles! After that we called it "Drive By Rashes" Fun huh? I'm glad you moved that appt up and they figured out what was wrong with hubby! I am sorry to hear it was an MI and there is a block! But I'm glad you have a Cardiac Cath scheduled! Things will get better now and you can get him on the road to being a healthy guy! I hope you enjoy the beach! I'm jealous! Brandy, I'll take you up on that plan -- visit a male stripper at his place of employment AND then we'll find me a man! I hope I didn't offend anyone with my post! I was actually asked out on a blind date for tonight, BUT I got really scared! He's someone I met online! I actually come off pretty well online and on the phone... it's the in person meeting that causes men to suddenly forget their wallets and have to go and get them -- then strangely enough, they never return! It's funny how men can get a picture of me in their minds, even if I've told them that I am overweight. They get this fantasy imagine in their heads from my voice. I've been told I have a nice phone voice. One of my parent's Moms has a 1-900 number and she makes a lot of money... she called the NICU once to see how her grandbaby was doing and I answered. She told me, I could make more money working her 1-900 number than I made working as a nurse. She said, I just had one of those voices. (I have other stories, but it's best not to share them online.):wink2: Mini, I'm going to get a sports car after I'm smaller! Another NSV is that I can now get behind the wheel of my daughter's car EVEN when she has the seat pulled way up for her short little stature! She's 5-3, I'm 5-10. Big difference and previously, if I didn't put the seat back before getting behind the wheel, I'd be stuck and not in a good way! Eek! See ya! dee~
  22. Yay, Renee!!!!!!!! Life is looking up for you! What's the old saying? -- So many men, so little time!! Go get 'em and enjoy! You ARE beautiful -- own it, girl! Good on you for your NSV, too!
  23. I'm so glad Natalie called you! She's the best! She's the best part of going to Dr. K's office! I do love teaching! I taught a class at the hospital last week and I loved it. I always love it! I went to Haiti as a Missionary when I was 19 years old and taught 1st thru 3rd grade and English as a Second Language. I loved it! I would love to go to a foreign country and teach again. When I graduated in 1985 from college, I was offered a job in Pusan Korea to direct a language school. Instead, I got married and worked as a Juvenile Probation officer. Can you imagine me, as a JPO? Where do you live Mini? I know the hospital where I work has a good scholarship program too, but I'm not sure how much they'd pay for me to get my masters. Tonight, we went to the mall. It was nice to just walk around. I used to never like the mall because my knees and feet hurt so bad. Now, I love it. I think that's a nice NSV - being able to enjoy the mall.
  24. Hey! Does anyone think those pink peeps are Band Friendly? I just wondered! I actually hate those things, but I called you all "Peeps" so I wondered if you are all Band Friendly! Finally, the end of my long day! An extra shift is a BIG NSV for me! Previously, I would never work 3 - 12's in a row and if we were extra busy and I had to go in on call, I made sure it was not backed up against my long stretch on! I would have died! WELL, I just finished working my 3rd - 12 and I'm going back on Saturday to do a 4th this week. It may not sound like much, but last night I was there til 9pm and tonight til 8pm. I get there at 620am. After work tonight, I went to Lane Bryant to get some new undies! A smaller size! Yeah BABY! Hi Fatwidow! I remember you really well! Nice to see you're back. I remember we talked previously about having the Band when your BMI is high? Mine was over 60 when I had my surgery. I have done very well and haven't regretted my choice once. The thing that made me choose the band is because there is no cutting of the stomach. RNY aka Gastric Bypass and the Vertical Gastric Sleeve both have to cut the stomach. IF my band failed, I would try to do it without another surgery. IF I found I couldn't make it on my own, I'd get the sleeve. BUT I would be very afraid of it because of the cutting of the stomach. The risks are higher when your stomach is cut. That is just my opinion. My insurance insisted that the Band wouldn't be a good choice because the weight loss is too slow and I have so much to lose. I have had several friends get RNY. One is totally disabled in a nursing home due to problems related to her surgery. She's 38 years old. Another weighed almost 500lbs and she had her surgery last June. Almost a year ago and she's only lost 90lbs. I can't say that's bad, but it's not necessarily quick! The band is slower, that is usually true, but it's not the case with everyone. Every person is different, regardless of the surgery they choose. It has to be your decision. Go to Obesity Help and read some of the posts on each forum. Ask them questions about their surgery... read about each procedure and the pros and cons. Good Luck! Mini! I think my fill is good. I'll be ready by the 19th of June for my next one, but for now, this one is doing it's job! I don't like to be too tight, I try to listen carefully to my body and stop when I get my runny nose (my soft sign). Mini, did you call and get a good rate at the Holiday Inn Select? Deb! I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Select in Parker several times. I stayed there 3 nights in a row during a blizzard 12/06. I work at the hospital in Parker and they couldn't get nurses in and we couldn't get home, so the hospital paid for us to stay there for 3 nights. They drove us there each evening and picked us up each morning. The beds are ultra comfy and the rooms are lovely and very clean. I then stayed there again during a spring storm and things were just as comfy and nice. I read on here where someone, I am sorry, I can't remember who, stayed at the hotel and they went out of their way to treat her nice. She had lost her pre and post-op meds and needed the enema for the night before surgery and her pain meds for after the surgery. She didn't have a car since she flew in and came by taxi. Someone from the hotel went to Walgreens and got the meds for her. I thought that was so nice! Mal! How's it going Sweety? Anita! Are you going to be at Red Robin's next week? Michelle! Lovegirl! How's life? Don't forget Peeps, Red Robin June 11th, Wednesday @ 7pm at the Red Robin's at Arapahoe and I-25. Hugs to all! dee~
  25. Thanks!!! But in all honesty, the 18-20 size pants were those stretchy pants, so I'm sure if they were actual pants and not "fat girl" pants, they probably wouldnt' have fit! But I'll take the NSV's where I can get them!
