  1. This morning I weighted myself for my 4weeks Post Op :) If you saw my post about what was going on in week 3 you have most likely have read that I had gained 1.4lbs and then my weight wasn’t moving. glad to say today I had lost that 1.4lbs and an additional 1.2lbs making this weeks lost a total of 2.6lbs :) I know I have only lost 22lbs in 4lbs and that’s amazing but I’m really excited to lose the next 48lbs to get to my first personal goal :) Weight stats: Starting HW: 270.6 PRE-Op diet starting weight: 268.3 Surgery weight: 266.8 WEEK 1: -11.6lbs Week 2: -5.4lbs Week 3: +1.4lbs Week 4: -2.6lbs Total: -22lbs My personal Goals: Goal 1: get down to 200lbs (48.6lbs to go 😊) Goal 2: get down to 180lbs Goal 3: get down to 160lbs Goal 4: get down to 135lbs NSVS: • I can go in my closet and pick any 2xl clothing and it be fitting just right or lose, and some XL fit nicely :) • I see the difference in my face and body Other updates: • Still have no appetite, still forcing myself to eat for fuel unless I go longer that 3 hours I do get this one feeling of emptiness • I can tolerate Greek yogurt (texture throws me off but I don’t mind it), tuna, 4 shredded cheese blend or mozzarella/cheese sticks, mashed beans, steamed zucchini and carrots (yay I been wanting veggies), Atkins French vanilla protein shakes, cottage cheese, reduced fat ritz crackers, scrambled eggs • can’t tolerate chocolate flavored Atkins protein shake, I get sick with nausea • my water intake is improving, getting closer and closer to 64oz
  2. Ohhhh! See I can't think of avocado as a sweet treat. I can think of it as a thickener and healthy fat underlying a chocolate berry smoothie though. It replaces banana! I will try your avo sweet smoothie though. Maybe this weekend. But the green smoothie is ball busters awesome!!! It's almost like a green gazpacho maybe? So so good. You can even add a spoon of greek yogurt if you want. I just use water. But you can do any kind of milk or liquid that you want. Sometimes I use hibiscus tea as the base of it.

    Full liquids

I lived on fair life milk, high protein yogurt YQ and Campbell chicken noodle (broth only) soup!
  5. Try Gnc they let you sample little cups of their powder. I however never drank one protein drink after surgery because of intolerance of whey. I drank high protein milk and high protein yogurt.

    💜 SEP 2019 CHALLENGE 💜

Squats done!!! At hotel gym! Not going to be going to bed 30 mins earlier...I'm in Vegas [emoji57][emoji57] Peer pressure: Honestly this happened to me at breakfast TODAY!!!! We ordered room service for breakfast and I ordered Greek yogurt and 2 poached eggs. My friend (who has been watching me like I have 2 heads based on my food choices since yesterday!!! Shes been beyond puzzled and slightly disgruntled as these getaways were our reason to go completely and utterly food crazy in the past!!!). So she added strawberry preservatives to my yoghurt and I stupidly decided to go along, when I was halfway done, I must have had what I would classify as "sleeve dumping"!!! It was a godawful feeling that I don't wanna remember or describe. I went straight to the bathroom and had stuff come up on both ends!!!![emoji27][emoji27][emoji22][emoji22][emoji85] I came out, slept it off and hydrated and went to the gym!!! NEVER again!!! I'm sure it was not all peer pressure, my subconscious musta missed sugar as well. But lesson learned!!!! It's a discovery that I am mildly pleased about because there's no better deterrent than that!! My friend is currently looking at me like I converted to a questionable religion [emoji28][emoji28][emoji28][emoji28][emoji28][emoji28][emoji28][emoji28] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. How does cottage cheese work for you? That was my go-to for quite a while. Soups are good, too. Lentil soup is especially high in protein and if you get some unflavored PEA protein powder, you can mix it into the soup and it is actually quite savory. Yogurt is also a go-to. I put a scoop of natural flavored vanilla protein powder into it. Smoothies with milk, some yogurt and vanilla protein powder are also good. Refried beans, thinned with bone broth. (I think the turkey/chicken/beef broth is the best, or just the turkey/chicken, or make your own). Bone broth is high in protein, and the beans are smooth and also have protein. These are all "slider" foods that go down easily and for me, very well tolerated, and helped get the protein in.
  8. Hey ya'll, Trying to decide what to buy now that I have no restrictions. I've seen lots of deli meat and string cheese. I will still eat greek yogurt. But I want more ideas! Help!
  9. I can't eat scrambled eggs either! And I'm so sad because I love eggs. But I ate them two breakfasts in a row, did not overeat or eat to fast, and was HORRIBLY NAUSEOUS after! Went back to greek yogurt and was fine.

    September Sleevers???

Had my surgery on 9/4. So far all is good! Today is day 10 post op, which mean the official start of puree food (yuck lol). Last night, I did try some Greek yogurt and had no trouble with eating it. Only had maybe 1.5 oz since it was half a day early and didn't want to risk feeling sick with it. I can get in about 64+ oz of fluid, but I am counting my protein shakes and broth in that, without including them I am getting at least 48oz of fluid in. I can take about 6-8 sips/gulps of water at a time. Drinking 2 protein shakes a day for 60 grams of protein. For the most part my abdomen feels fine post-op... but I do have that one spot that can feel like I have been stabbed if I move the wrong way still. But even that seems to be starting to subside now. What I haven't been doing a lot of is getting out and walking as much as I should. When I do go for my walks, I am wiped out after 15-20 minutes. Still, I am gradually improving. I actually think I am starting to feel better all around today, so maybe today is the day? I am also not having any trouble swallowing any of my smaller pills. The only liquid prescribed to me was pain medicine which surprised me, everything else I have been taken in it's normal tablet form since the day of surgery. I am down about 7 pounds since surgery, even with the initial 5 pound gain. That came off within 48 hours at most. All in all, everything is good!
  11. Breads and rice, somebody said use good quality bread, toast it well and you'll be fine. Ha Ha to the INTH Degree! Also most meat, ground or pureed into submission, Precious Pouch knows and won't accept it- No siree! I was over joyed when at 10 months she let me eat Greek yogurt once again, helped with the protein deficiency, think my hair has stopped thining and might be actually reviewing. For me growth did really slow down, oh it still did but Tomkitten still gets his hair cut 2 to 1 over me- will that ever CHANGE? Well I shall perpetually be a "Work in PROGRESS", but no real use raging against it so I've mentally kicked back, accepted I may never be protein shake FREE, what Precious will agree to I make of high quality, fresh as possible, and with intrinsic vitamin or mineral content. Almost nothing from cans, has to be fresh or purely frozen. But You ME and My Future Health are worth it. After years and years of sublimating to late husband and other Family Members I have learned to put Frustr8 to the forefront. One if the reasons I treasure All of You , especially Fluffy Chix , I have learned so much reading her past postings and diet advice. So what I cannot eat or Change I find substitute FOR, keep my fluids up- People live on Fluid Drive, after All, take my vitamins and minerals, must be digesti g those because I don't made a rattling sound as I Walk. And trust in GOD and my healthier decisions. And Someday, in Some Way , I will be in Maintainance after GOAL! 😜Smile and show 💘 wherever YOU GO.

    Ulcers

I'm so sorry to hear about your ulcers hon!!! Take that medicine, especially the carafate! Exactly as they tell you. One of the things that is a hidden acid is dairy--like milk, whey, and yogurt. So I'd avoid that. I'd go for soft meats such as foil baked white fish, poached chicken (minced with meat lube aka low sugar, low fat, low carb gravy), ground turkey, ground chicken, shrimp, eggs, egg whites. I'd go for very soft veg like canned green beans, broccoli and cauliflower cooked to beyond hell. Applesauce, canned pears, canned sugar free peaches. Mashed cauliflower rather than mashed potatoes. Mashed butternut squash or even brown butter pumpkin is an awesome savory and low carb side to your meat. You can make a bunch of tuna salad (the recipe can be repeated with canned chicken and also canned salmon and crab). Low residue diet for sure as @RickM suggests. LOW LOW LOW acid and low spice/heat (chiles chile peppers etc). Heal quickly hon!
  13. I still get hungry sometimes, but I have to spend a long time thinking about if I am really hungry or just feel like eating something. My restriction is so strong at 8 months that a couple of low-fat cheese sticks or a yogurt is enough to totally fill me up until the next meal.

    September Sleevers???

Had my surgery. Things went well. It's now day 3 and my stomach muscles are still sore, hurts to stretch or bend over. My stomach still feels bloated but no gas pain. Weirdly my eyesight is a bit blurry. I am meeting my clear liquid goals. Tomorrow I can start cream soups, yogurt, pudding, and cream of wheat cereal. No hunger per say, but I am looking forward to some yogurt and pudding. I hope I still like it.

The importance of trying new foods slowly

No, I initially felt too full. Then a few hours later nauseated and pain in the middle of my back. I was shaky and needed a heating pad. My heart rate was up to the 90/100s but I think that's because I was miserable. I was really surprised that I still had that much oatmeal in my pouch hours later. I ate an ounce of steak at dinner but when i got sick 6 hours after dinner I think that had passed. I have had steak before multiple times. I tolerate ground beef, chicken etc so I was surprised that oatmeal seemed to get stuck. I was also thinking the ground flax seed would balance out the carbs. I almost finished a premier shake over the past 3 hours and now I am trying yogurt (I will try 5oz over an hour or 2). I will stick with soft foods today and know I am probably only going to get 300-400 calories in today. More burping today so it's definitely irritated.

    Purée Pain

I started purees today. Couldn't eat but a few bits of ground/pureed chicken (10 grams protein per 2oz), egg & broccoli this morning. I even divided the 2oz to .05oz. For lunch I decided to open one of my many infusion tuna (2.8oz -22 grams protein) containers that I primarily got for my lunch at work starting next week. Put a little greek yogurt in it - tuna already seasoned with lemon/thyme. As I was making it I was feeling (I'm not even hungry) but I put a little tuna & a little ground chicken measure from breakfast in a plate. My nutritionist wants me to try to eat 2oz meals for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I have tons left! I will try to eat a little every 2 hours - 30 minutes after liquids. My before/after plate & left overs to try to comsume by end of day. One protein shake or fairlife milk will get me to 60 grams of protein for the day. P.S.: It was very flavorful & smooth ; )
  17. I don't but the only thing I can think of is to start probiotics. You can take a pill like Culturelle or start eating Activia yogurt everyday and see if that helps.

Don’t want to eat, I mean drink

Part of what you are experiencing is the natural and normal phenomenon of post surgical bowel sounds and gurgles. LOL. I have it and I'm 18 months out. It does usually get a little better. Stick to easy. Protein Smoothies Protein frappacinos and teacinos Iced protein coffee Blended soups (added protein powder) Canned cream soups (added protein powder) Ricotta Bake Cottage Cheese + apple sauce or sugar free preserves Greek Yogurt + apple sauce or sugar free preserves Making tuna or chicken salad then whizzing it up in a mini food processor. So good actually. Just a smooth texture. But taste is awesome!
  19. I’d pack a cooler with some cold stuff like protein shakes, yogurt, etc. And a thermos with bone broth. Laughing cow cheese also travels VERY well.
  20. We have to make a 7ish hour trip on Sat, and then turn around drive it again to come home on Sun (my daughter is a competitive gymnast meet is on Sun) On Monday due to some reflux issues they made me go back on liquids, my surgeon told me to slowly start adding back some solids. I have some crunchy protein snacks from a bariatric site and I am thinking some drinkable yogurts (light and fit kind) Other than that right no I am completely blanking on what I should pack for the drive. I have been able to have deli meat moistened but somehow that turns my stomach just thinking about eating it while we are driving. I'm also not sure how things like jello would be while driving. Have any of yall had drives like this? What did yall pack to eat on the way. I'll be 4 weeks post op on Mon. TIA
  21. I’m a month out tomorrow and I’ve lost 51lbs. I’m on stage purée but I can’t bring myself to eat any of it. I tried drinkable yogurt but it makes my stomach all gassy and gurgle-I’m afraid I’m lactose intolerant now. Same thing happens with SF popsicles and SF jello. I thought those things were supposed to be a given 🤷🏼‍♀️ Can anyone inspire me with something to enjoy eating err drinking? I bought a fancy mixer just to be able to have things but I’m not about to blend tuna like my binder says 🤢 Help!
  22. Hey sweetie. I REALLY didn't mean to "point fingers." I was just making an observation based on that day of food when you said you only ate to hunger. And sometimes we're not even aware we're doing something--which I was I highlighted those events--not to be food policey or Ana PoPo. You know? I only mentioned the Ana thing, cuz I recognize this behavior in some of my meals where I'm trying not to eat food cuz I don't want to let my hunger go cray. So I sub in things that fill me without being caloric or food based. Like my Herbox Soup, Green Tea, Earl Grey Tea, tea with psyllium husks, cashew milk with a few drops of chocolate stevia, That sort of thing. I definitely think you may be in a vicious cycle of sleep deprivation, exhaustion and hunger. The bad thing about eat so late at night then staying up later and messing up circadian rhythms is that it raises your cortisol which raises leptin and grehlin and downregulates the satiety hormones. So you really are hungrier! Then your brain clues in that if it raises only a little ruckus, you'll give in and eat snacky/high reward food giving it big calories and also big hits of dopamine and seratonin...so it gets fat and high. And the longer you do it, the harder it imprints the behavior in your brain and body. ((hugs)) No preaching. Swearsies. I've been being bad about snacking at night too. And am trying so hard to break up with it. I still eat mostly low cal foods and no sugar sweets, but I still am getting a cephalic insulin response from it--even if sugar free. My first step to quitting should be cold turkey, but instead, I have to use reason to determine if I'm legit hungry and if I am, my choices are now either decaff coffee, Herbox soup, egg (hard boiled), or cucumber/radish/Greek Yogurt mixed with WF Dressing, or a turkey rollup, sf jello cup, sf popsicle. That's it. That's all I get. And if that doesn't do me, then I'm not truly hungry. Loved yesterday's meals!!! Textbook perfect you rockstar!!!
  23. Totally agree. Only thing I can’t eat are greasy foods and I’m thankful to not be able to enjoy them. I did accidentally eat yogurt with more sugar than I should have had and felt awful from that as well. bread? No biggie. Bites of cracker or chips, etc are the same. It’s a choice, but it’s easier for me to choose wisely now.
