    Should I be proud or?

You're probably not doing anything wrong. Took me 3 months to lose 30 pounds and I was thrilled. Relax and enjoy the journey. Protein, veggies, water and vitamins...that's all you need to concentrate on right now. Stay off the scale and measure your success with NSV's.
  2. @@April4 good news bud many people feel miserable, have problems lots of people post that they feel terrible, miserable with problems posts about vomiting, gas, being very tired, no energy, constipation, diarrhea, neck hurting, hair loss, Protein shakes, not losing enough weight in a quick period of time, other people doing better than they are plus many other things people (me) ;)also enjoy talking about their NSVS's (non sleeve victory) health tremendously improving no need for certain meds like diabetes, high blood pressure, CPAP getting on an air plane not needing a seat belt extender feeling like the airplane seats have gotten bigger truth is you've gotten smaller being able to sit in between 2 other people on the plane being able to walk better fitting into smaller size clothes (clothes shopping is a frequent wonderful discusssion) being able to walk past a long mirror at Kohl's and not cringing being able to sit at a booth sitting at that booth with room between your stomach and the booth not worrying that you might break a chair putting your seat forward in a car - because you don't need as much room crossing your legs tying your shoes feet getting smaller realizing you have a collar bone confidence going through the roof being able to go out amongst people not feeling self conscious more things i can't think of my memory didn't improve with weight loss people (me) feeling happy what is wrong very with that guess who have enjoyed the above happening them just a few things that you can look forward to as far as the good we have found - we need to talk about that too but that is more fun!! i'm reallllly glad you like the sleeve you are losing weight you will continue to lose more weight for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer, life who deserves it more you will like experiencing the above too bad stuff does happen that we need to talk about but the good - is very good i might have made my point much earlier and kept talking sorry, don't know when to shut up sometimes still friends hugggggs good luck kathy
  3. I have been trying to get on here for days. The page either doesn't load or a post freezes and wipes out before posting. So my apologies for not responding and being supportive. I know someone had emergency hemmie surgery, hope they are on the mend and feeling better. Prune juice has been magical. Phase 4 has been tough but having lots of NSVs - tying shoes, more stamina for shopping and doing chores, donating bags of Clothes. And last night had a really cool experience, in the ER with mom (she's ok now) and after 7 hours I had to eat something, the vending machine had a protein pack of cheese, ham and almonds 2 ounces 13 grams of protein, cold fresh delist! hubby so impressed he's ordering it for his store. The old me would have gone for the pretzels and never considered anything else. Lovely, congrats on graduating!!! May this coming new year bring everyone good health and happiness and peace on earth.

Hi everyone Happy Holidays of all! Still here I ahve a difficult time logging on to BP or writing a post that freezes, frustrating. I just wanted to add my experience with tomato juice because someone just suggested it as an alternative to the sweet options. I didn't read all my NUTs notes before I tried some V8 and ended up with a very irritated belly. Tomato juice can cause irritation, too acidic for some, so be careful. LainieG thinking of you and hope to share your sleeve success in the coming months. Losing slowly but this week had a bunch of NSVs tied my own shoes, shopped then entire mega grocery store, got rid of 4 bags of clothes, cooked 2 celebration dinners including my own birthday bash and all this while having some intense pain from 2 bone spurs and an Achilles tendon problem- not bragging about doing it just sharing how I can do life with this utterly amazing sleeve. Wishing everyone good health, peace and happiness.

NVS - Fitting in his cloths

I weigh less than my boyfriend and I never thought I would weigh less than a significant other. LOL. Love it! Congrats on the NSV.
  6. @@sonosuzy first off please put on a pair of warm woolen socks now, isn't that better? its understandable to have those thoughts, nerves etc. before WLS but - you made the wise decision to have your choice of surgery - the lapband don't 2nd guess yourself now!!! I had surgery 3 years ago i reached goal one year PO I have been successful on maintenance these past two years if i didn't have the "assistance" of the sleeve i might have gained the 105 lbs that i lost with the help of the sleeve my diabetes/insulin - high blood pressure - CPAP are all gone epilepsy meds/dosage cut in half (unexpected wonderful NSV ) now i'm so healthy and happy i could burst!!! i look cute as a button too!!!" am i happy i had surgery??? what do you think?? your surgery is on Monday try and stay calm take a nap while the doc is working good luck bud speedy recovery kathy
  7. I'm wondering if I'm the only one in a "funk" at this point. Haven't dropped a pound in 4+ weeks. (Well...I have lost...up 2 down 2 a dozen times LOL) There are moments I have tinges of regret when I realize I got this far in WW in the past. Is this it? I should also point out that if this happened to me any other time I'd say screw it and open a bag of chips. That's not happening ! My "logical" brain kicks in and says to keep with the program. This stall will break. I've had more nsv's than I can recount. I try to focus on them, not the scale. I'm also dealing with a bone spur in my hip. Going to PT. But wouldn't be surprised if I'll need surgery on it. I really don't want another surgery. Grr. It's holding me back. I'm so happy for everyone's success. Hoping I can start posting more news about weight loss soon! Later losers! :-)

    OCTOBER 2014

Ok ladies NSV time! My family and I went to Christmas Town last night at Busch gardens - I was actually able to comfortable ride the roller coaster and other rides with my oldest! I was elated to not be embarrassed by the barely closed seatbelt! Also we took a family photo with Santa and it was the first time in 8 years I didn't cringe. I am proud if it! Keep pushing through all! This is so worth it!

    Christmas party

Thank you. Here's another NSV of sorts. I went solo and opted to do so. I don't feel funny if I'm not with a guy because I know that no one is thinking I can't find someone to go with. Unbelievable how different everything is now.
  10. chicken was and still is one of the hardest things for Frankensleeve to digest. At 5 weeks, I was still eating Cream of Mushroom Soup for most of my meals. I ate Peanut Butter as well, but because of the calories in it, I limited myself to 2 tablespoons of peanut butter a day. But for the most part, I didn't eat anything else. It was months before I could really tolerate real food. After I graduated from soup, the next thing I found tolerable was refried Beans and turkey hamburger - and I ate it as my primary food for weeks and weeks. Here's my recipe: http://www.bariatricpal.com/blog/9018/entry-31168-my-favorite-mexican-food/ I've never lifted weights, but I did set a walking goal of 10,000 steps a day - starting the month after surgery. It took me a few months to reach that goal. Now I try speed walking - 3 miles a day @ 3.8 (or better) mph. http://www.bariatricpal.com/blog/9018/entry-31216-nsv-2-you-best-step-off-b-hatch/
  11. Ohhhh NSV= Non scale Victory. I had totally been wondering what that meant!! I had been brainstorming for a few months: -'Nuther Small Victory -New Stellar Victory -No Small Victory -New Sleeve Victory -Not Safe for Vooork (with russian accent) It all makes so much sense, now. Thanks!!!!
  12. @@shizwiz ... thank you! I'm taking that as a non-scale victory (NSV) -- that someone under 30 thought something I said was that funny.

    PostOp - 2 Weeks

hi! Sounds to me like you really have your head on straight. It's all about the NSV's! I can't wait for mine! Welcome to BP!! Lots of good folks here, great support group. I have to wait till January to submit for approval, but I've done my "hoop jumping" in preparation for it. So I hope mine is approved fairly quickly. I hope I have a story like yours!
  14. I'm Ross and 2 weeks post op. My bariatric sleeve surgery was at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. I have dropped weight, as expected. However, my story is that I have not experienced any surgery side affects. Based on pre-op discussions, support groups and forums, I expected and prepared for the worse. Yet, I was walking immediately after surgery. Minimal pain. No gas. No acid reflux. I have had simply weight loss. My overall concern, in addition to attaining my healthy goal weight, is to maintain the the proper amount of protein, vitamin, calcium etc... in my meal plan and supplements. I'm big on NSVs because I expect to stall. I'm looking forward to attaining and maintaining my ultimate healthy weight.

These are the kind of posts I love.. so many successful bandsters. My NSV today is being able to have my Christmas shopping done and presents wrapped because I have so much more energy than I did before being banded. My other NSV is that I no longer run from cameras. We have had so many family functions where I refused to have my picture taken, it's a wonderful thing to not be ashamed of how you look. This surgery has enabled me to become more active and healthy. I am forever grateful to my surgeon and his staff for doing an excellent job for me.

So went in for a regular doctor's appt. to check on my diabetes . I was a little down because I believe I could be losing more weight . And he told me that my A1C has gone from 11.6 to 7(still high but 7 is better than 11). Knowing that made me happy . And that is my NSV ..Getting my diabetes under control is always a victory

    I've lost 45 pounds but.......

I totally get it. I am 8 weeks out and down a total of 38 lbs and although others see a big difference, I just don't see it. I've had some pretty awesome NSV's (being able to cross my legs, fitting into clothing that I haven't worn in over a year) but a previous poster had mentioned looking in the mirror and seeing the weight that still needs to be lost. That describes my outlook perfectly. It's hard not to compare yourself to others, whether on this board or IRL. I just try to internalize what the more experienced sleevers post over and over.....be patient, make sure to get in my protein and water, follow my program, and move my body. I'm not allowed to have nuts yet but I had some veggie chip( 1 freaking oz) and it was like I fed the beast. So...no more veggie chips.
  18. NSV!! I have a beautiful ring that my husband had made for me almost 20 years ago. I haven't been able to wear the past 10 years. It's on my finger as I type :)

Hello All, Hope all is well with all of you. Having a hard time getting back to reality after an amazing 7 days in Florida. I estimate I walked about 27 miles in those 7 days according to my IPhone App which probably is not that reliable. Weather was OK considering what it was like in NH but I had high hopes of 80's. I got that my first day and it was down hill from there. Dropped into the 40's at night. Disney and Universal was fantastic. I cannot get over the detail of the Harry Potter stuff at Universal. You literally feel like you walked into the movie. I sent this Magic Kingdom picture to my Sister in MA on Saturday. It was in the 80's and sun shining. MA was getting an ice storm as Arlene mentioned. LOL My Sister informed me that "I suck and she was jealous" This pic of me on the Plane waiting to depart NH. NSV....no seat belt extender and plenty of room!! My Buddy Eric photo-bombing me in the background. Kelli and I standing in front of Hogwarts Express at Universal What remains of the JAWS ride at Universal. They tore it down to make way for Harry Potter. Huge fan of JAWS and the ride was cheesy but still I was sad to see it gone. Last but not least Kelli and I at Disney's Hollywood Studios Osbourne Festival of Lights show

    Chicago Sleevers

I had my sleeve at Loyola University Medical Center almost a year ago 12/23/2013......went home on Christmas Day. My recovery has been textbook, my weight loss slow. So far I have gone from 235 to 170, which is more than I have ever or could have done on my own. My goal is 135, which was my healthiest adult weight, but I would feel good at 150. Since I am retired, I did not have to worry about getting back to work. From your picture, it looks like you have the advantage of youth. The hardest part about my journey was the pre-op waiting and waiting and waiting for the process to move along. If you have no complications, you may still feel kinda cruddy for the first couple of weeks. As the pounds fall off, you will feel better and better. You have many non-scale victories (NSVs) to look forward to. I wish you good luck and good health. PS, I am a little familiar with Mercy Hospital, such as it was in 1992. I supervised housekeepers for about a year until a foot injury caused me to find a sit down job. I remember there being a convent on the 14th floor, and I had been on the roof once at night to view the skyline. My territory was the basement levels with the offices and morgue, the lobby, the ER and clinics.

    NSV

So, i am still trying to wear my jeans that are a size 26 - I need to get a belt if I continue to do this. A friend gave me a box of her "fat clothes" from after her surgery so I would not have to purchse much. She was smaller that me to begin with, so most of the pants and jeans she sent were a size 16. However, there was one size 18. I thought I would give it a shot, and what do my wondering eyes should appear - they fit - they are tight, but I can breathe in them! Wow!!! so excited!!!
  22. I only notice in my house because There are a lot of leftovers left that my husband has been working on now that I don't eat much...it's really shows me just how much I was actually eating in the house. To have sweets sitting around and throwing out half a peach pie that didn't get eaten Is just astonishing because that NEVER would have happened had I not had this surgery....I defiantly would have had them ate!! Thank Jesus I'm not that way anymore....maybe that's my first NSV?!!!

    NSV shout outs

Every little victory is awesome but I really, honestly, (swear to God HONESTLY) get sick of the shock and awe. Just be happy for me, say I look nice and MOVE ON! It's more about how I feel than how I look (most days anyway). On a side note.... NSV of the day: wearing a pair of trouser pants to work that I knew were lose but having to use some stockingnet (I work in medical field - this is the sleeve that goes under a cast) to rig up a belt because my pants were literally falling down. About to say goodbye to size 16 I hope!
  24. Today I am wearing a sweater I haven't been able to get into for 3 years! It is so exciting!
  25. NSV: finally able to see my nuckles!!!! I have never EVER been able to see them!! My wedding rings are so lose now I will have to get them resized DOWN!!!! and ONE pound shy of 60 loss!! oh HAPPY DAY!! :)
