Yesterday I was able to decorate the Christmas tree and mantle without resting or directing my husband on where to put things from the sofa. I've lost 50 lbs since October 1st and the big NSV is that my lower back pain is just about gone. I never would have been able to be on my feet so much. My poor husband has had to decorate under my direction for about the past 3 years. I am so happy! -

Most recent NSV....being able to take a picture one time and not nitpick everything about it. Also having candid pictures taken of you at an event and not chasing down the person with the camera to delete the photos Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App -

Oops -- forgot a big one -- Been having trouble with the CPAP machine keeping me awake at night (sleep apnea). I called the doctor and took the machine over to the clinic to have the pressure lowered from 11 to 8 (all attributed to weight loss). However, for the past 2 nights, it's still bugging me, so I have an appointment to see the doctor in about a month and I think I'll end up going off it for good. For now, I'm not using it because it interferes with more than helps me sleep. THAT's a big NSV. -
Weird NSV ,the two rolls of fat on my back are gone! Good riddance!!

Hi there! My surgery went great! I’m down 26lbs my third week post op. I still do feel sick at times and am learning how to eat and drink slowly. I can’t keep too much down though. My NSV would be ; no more back pain, and I can’t leave out that my feet don’t hurt anymore! I had the worst throbbing foot pain in both my feet and now I can walk and run errands without being miserable. Congrats on your toe nail victory. I hadn’t tried! I just leaned over and saw that Wow I can! However it does hurt my tummy to do much since my incisions are still healing. -
Thanks for the advice Barbara. I have my six month appointment coming up in about 2.5 weeks. I will definitely address it with my doc. Til then I'm gonna eat early, stay away from the offenders and see what happens! Congrats on getting rid of the pants. I haven't done that yet. I'm waiting for the day I'm walking down the hall at work and my pants just fall off. Now THAT's a wacky NSV!

Feb 2017 sleevers - how's everyone doing post-op?
biginjapan replied to biginjapan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been a month and a day since surgery. I lost 23 pounds pre-op, but only 15 pounds post-up. I've been stalled for 2 weeks, although my weight has been fluctuating up and down by the same 1 or 2 pounds. I've cut back on dairy, which has helped with a lot of issues, and I'm trying to get my calories in (my NUT wants a minimum of 800 daily), which I can do, but I feel like I'm either full or eating all day. I would have liked to have lost more by this point (I was hoping for 20 pounds post-op) but I put on a pair of jeans today that I haven't been able to wear in over 2 years, so that's a nice NSV. I've also noticed that my fat seems more loose and jiggly (I was always kind of solid before), and that I've got some weird bulges in my thighs that I never had before. The inches are coming off, I just want that d@mn scale to move! -

Edd, I love you NSV. It's fantastic. I hope to be a copy cat and make it mine too. I've made plans to do something similar. My banded friend and I are going to an amusement park the 4th of July weekend. No kids, no partners. Just us former fatties, enjoying the ride which we haven't ridden on since high school. I'm super excited. -

Fanny, your in the 70's in the middle of winter! How cool is that! Happy Bandaversary KT! Ebony, congrats on the NSV. I love NSVs:wub: Good morning everyone. Hope you are all doing well! I love antiques also. My parents loved antiquing. Dad would refurbish wood antiques. I have a table that he redone. The chairs have pretty much all gone. I have 5 chairs left and 3 are usable. It originally had 8. I have a china hutch that dates from the 1800s that was my parents. I have some butter dishes and Black Amethyst vases. I have a child's wooden ironing board that my grandfather made my mom when she was 3. It is signed and dated. (but it is fading) It is 83 yrs. old. It folds and unfolds just like a regular ironing board. I have some antique dolls. My favorite I have had since I was 6. She is a Suzy doll. She is worth $400.00. (she was appraised at a antique road show type deal.) If I had her shoes and her dress was in better shape she would be worth more. She was given to me when freinds of the family bought a house and there were toys there. They gave them to me. My kids laugh at me when we go yard saleing or to the flee markets because of the antiques. They think I am like a kid in a candy shop. Everyone have a blessed day -
WARNING...NON-SCALE VICTORY (NSV) AHEAD! So I am out for my walk today, just going along, admiring the view of this beautiful day and minding my own business. Most of the walk was uneventful, outside of saying HI to a few people I would pass by here and there, until I made my way back home, a car came by and some TWENTYSOMETHING guy whistled out the window at me! ROFL. Wow, how long has it been since that has happened? I have no idea *grin*....but it certainly feels great! The funny thing was, I had nothing revealing or outstanding on...just a casual outfit of capris and matching top. Of course, they were a couple of sizes smaller. Heh.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
PrtyAntOvrYt replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Everyone! I've been Traveling with the Band. I drove to ABQ on Easter for a Dentist appt. on Monday. Yes, I travel over 400 miles to see a Dentist. Insane! NO! I have had the same dentist since I was 10 years old! I have only seen 1 other dentist in the last 34 years. I'm never nervous! He is a good friend of mine! AND I was the Lap Band Marketing Queen! I had some of Dr K's cards from my previous appts. You know the ones they give you with your time on the back - well I passed them out like candy! Everyone noticed my weight loss! It was such a pat on the back! Everyone knows someone who needs the surgery, so I would give them a card and my speech and then I would remind them that is has to be a very personal decison. And if someone had asked me last year at this time if I would have WLS, I would have told them absolutely not. They need to be patient and loving with their friend or family who is overweight. Give them the information and allow them to do the research and make the choice. The funny thing about seeing my friends and family was that everyone said I look like I've lost more than I have. I think when a person is my size, they wear very baggy clothes so they appear much bigger. Yes, I am huge, but I think with the baggy clothes I looked larger than that! This weekend I wore more form fitting shirts (my same huge and now very baggy pants - I only own one pair of 3xl - so I have to wear my suspenders.) and people were shocked! Someone at work said, "Hey you have boobs!" I replied, "I have always had boobs, but my tummy is now smaller - making my boobs look bigger." I guess you can call that a NSV! Okay Friends: Tina - we do need to see some recent pics! You my dear need to see some recent pics! It's such a pat on the back to see yourself in pics after you've lost weight, even if it's just 10 lbs, it's good to see the change. You're not a bad bandster! You're human and I think you're doing very well! I think I was like you before surgery. I never really ate poorly, I ate whole grains, lean proteins and a lot of veggies and fruits, but I was a bulk eater. Now I'm thrilled to be able to be satiated on a small amount. I think that is why I force myself to get a take-out container when I'm out and separate the food out before ever taking my first bite. Then I close the container and put it on an empty chair. What is on my plate is for me to enjoy and savor and what is in my take-out container is for tomorrow or later. It keeps me on track. Because I know my weakness! Amieru - Dr. K told me I could start riding my recumbent bike at 3 weeks and I could start swimming after I saw him at my 4 week appt. I think it's fine to start exercising, BUT I'd just send a quick email to Natalie and clear it with her. (how's that for a response from a former Telephone Triage Nurse?) -

Friday was my 6 month (at 7 months? post op follow up visit. My BP was 110/57 HR was 76 Amy cholesterol 135 overall LDL 43 HDL 85 all other blood panels were in the normal range A1c was 4.1and my body fat is down to 20%! The Dr. was extatic about my results! He said that by far I am his most successful patient at the VA! My skin is healing well I have some loose skin but looks like it is still young and will probably not need to have any removed as it is not hanging and my muscle building will help for it to "go back to normal"! Another NSV is my energy level, my family and are are getting ready to move across country (for me to continue my education I was accepted to Colorado State University) and I have been loading the moving pods all weekend and have done most of the heavy-lifting myself. I am not tired or sore I worked all day both Saturday and yesterday and was like the energizer bunny, I just kept going and going. -
A pat on the back to all you St. Patty's Day Banders!! I think Jonathan is on the slippery slope. He tends to stay away when he is doing poorly. I hope he finds his second (fifth?) wind and pops back in soon. Interesting NSV for me. I was looking though some old pictures (circa 2004) and was commenting aloud about how good I looked them. My husband asked what I weighted back in then. I said about 217. He then asked how much I weighted today. 208 I said. Then it hit me. With the exception of a few more wrinkles, I look that good- now. One of the reasons I knew I needed to do something about my weight was because I saw a picture of myself (at 284) and was disgusted. Sometimes when I look in the mirror I don't see what is really there. It works both ways.

What was your most recent NSV? (non-scale victory)
gowalking replied to tamg26k's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Was at my son and DIL last night for dinner and to see the nursery furniture they got for my newest grandchild due in April. The crib has the changing table attached and it's a big piece of furniture. The space between the crib and the dresser is a bit narrow so I suggested they might want to rearrange some things and my son said there was no reason to since we were all pretty skinny and wouldn't have any problems maneuvering. I looked at that space and said a silent prayer of thanks because I know that two years ago, I might not have been able to squeeze past so easily. Oh...and a dinner NSV as well. I knew which plate was mine when I saw how much food was on it. My DIL is getting used to mom sized portions and knows how much I eat Loving the new normal for sure.
