Dehydration and when to go to the hospital
tparkerc59 replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you went to the ER. Getting fluids in is my biggest challenge as well. Because of my lack of hydration I got a huge hemroid which had to be surgically removed (I know TMI) and the surgeon said it was caused by lack of fluid. Can I just say sitting on a donut with a bunch of stitches in your bum is no fun! I'm trying to drink more!!! -
Day 3 Clear liquids. Cravings are gone and had to choke down my breakfast of jello. Not to go too deep into TMI, but the bathroom is my new favorite room.

Good luck to Feb 1 Surgeries!!
NJDanielle27 replied to general_antiope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi ladies. I am feeling a lot better today. The difference from Friday is amazing. I am not going back to work yet since I still need a couple days. I lay on the couch and then get up and do laps around the house. Most of my gas is right in my chest. Have you guys been able to eat? I only had water on Fri, water and maybe 8oz of skim milk yesterday and today I had some water, green tea, and 2 oz of soup. Even though my stomach is growling, I feel so bloated that I don't feel like eating. I am forcing myself to have more soup later. Are you guys getting your 64oz of water in? I can't get anywhere near that right now. By the way, I've never been so happy to need to pass gas! Ok here comes the major tmi, have you ladies had a BM? I haven't and starting to wonder if I should start taking something like MOM - I just don't want worse gas cramps. Let me know and good luck to the ladies going tomorrow!!!! WE CAN DO THIS! -
WHAT TO TAKE FOR THE FLU
SeriouslyChange replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I went from feverish to okay in 2 days, but now it's a stomach thing. TMI: I've been constipated since post op day 1. I've gone more times now(yesterday) than I have in the past 2 weeks. And I'm nauseous. But I'm not eating. What the hell is this? -
Okay, I knew there would be gas, but didn't realize with every sip or tiny bite of anything I take comes about 20 belches.Seriously I would win the frat boy competition. I've probably walked at least a mile and a half today, took in 66oz liquids, 60oz Protein, a few bites of Soup, applesauce and was sleeved 3 days ago on the 30th. Probably TMI but I've only farted 5 times post of and finally had a bowel movement today. Still...the belching continues. So, my question is should I sign up for a frat now because I'm going to be in burping hell for next to forever or did any of y'all have it and have it go away (and if so, when)?

As I sat here all day loooong, feeling blue and not really knowing why, I started to wonder if post-surgery do you still have fat days? For me it is that TOM (tmi), but you know, those lazy days, you just feel tired, sluggish, and just don't want to move... Btw, I'm better now, made myself get up and shower and taking my son out in a bit to see a basketball game, but just wondering if this still happens...

Falling into bad habits
Sharonisshrinking replied to Sharonisshrinking's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Oh, I found it! I'm not going to do that specifically but I gained a lot of insight from it. I am going to stick to my tight feeling proteins from now on and lay off the carbs. I guess in my mind I thought I was one of the lucky ones who could eat more. I'm realizing that just because I can, doesn't mean I should. I feel reassured, in kind of a sick way, that my pouch is working. I was a good girl at dinner and ate broiled tilapia. But, I ate it at the rate I was eating my wheat thins. Well, guess what! Sorry to give TMI, but I barfed in a ton of napkins. So, my pouch is still good. Just need to let it do its job without cheating around sliders. -
January 2013 Post Op
Natasha K replied to ready2smile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery Jan 3 and I've lost 27#!! (I almost wrote only lost 27#-yikes!) I haven't lost any weight my 4th week, and I'm not going to freak out. I've never lost that much in one month! It's hard not to weigh myself every day. I'm also trying to have a period. I just keep blotting ( sorry TMI). Maybe that is adding to the slow down? I keep reading of stalls that happen in 3 weeks and here I am! For all the Jan post opers... Congrats!!!! We did it!!!!! Group hug!!! Can't wait to see us all 6mos and 1 year from now! -
This maybe a little TMI but I was sleeved 1/21/13, and have yet to have a BM. I wasn't really worried at first because of being on liquids for a week post-op, but I started eating pureed this past Monday (5 days ago) and still haven't gone. This also did't really have me too worried because I'm not getting a lot of food in, only about 1 tablespoon in 2 maybe 3 times a day. But this morning I woke up and thought today was the day... I can feel it movin in there and I've been extra gassy (TMI again, I know) and when I go to the bathroom I feel like I have to go but noting happens. It's painful being in there and it's painful trying to get it out, my abs are hurting from all the pushing. I tried taking a hot shower, and thought about Miralax but it would take me forever to drink all of it... ANY suggestions are greatly appreciated, please help!!

Thank you everyone!!! I'm home and about to take a nap. I was at the hospital a bit longer than expected because I had a hard time urinating (tmi?) but it all worked out. Thank you all again for your kindess -

This morning I did my norm morning routine. Got up pottied and got on the scale before dressing (TMI I know, but it is always best to weigh in you birthday suit). The hubs walks in and hugs me and says "geez I can reach my elbows when I wrap my arms around you". Then he said "I'm proud of you babe, but don't get so skinny I have to shake the sheets to find ya". For those who don't know my husband is visually impaired. His vision is 20/800 - legally blind since birth. Granted he is well educated graduated with honors with a degree in computer science and is a well respected software engineer. He just can't see very well. So it's always been the running joke that he feel for me because I was large print (he always replied to that with you said that not me). Now he is joking saying I am getting so small he won't be able to see me anymore. The joking is all in fun- he is very supportive of my weight loss journey and is helping me leaps and bounds. But I must say it would be nice for him to have to shake the sheets to find me

Everything Happens for a Reason

I wear a cpap nightly and my wife is very happy about it. I used to stop breathing in the middle of the night and it would scare the hell out of her and she would wake me up. Some nights I would suddenly stop snoring and she had to check to make sure my chest was going up and down. Just remember the cpap is for sleeping, not relations although I did ask my wife once if she wanted to have a 'go round with the elephant man'...probably a little TMI there...LOL sleep apnea can kill you and it is no joke. Look on the bright side...you are married. Think how much it would suck if you were single. -

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
Velena replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
newgrandmother, that's so funny. I saw my Dr on Monday and she said I've got slightly too much calcium in my urine (TMI sorry) and it could lead to kidney stones. She said to cut back on cashews, almonds and peanuts. Those were my go to snacks at work. So, I decided to try beef jerky instead. So far so good. I have a low fat, low sodium teriyaki flavor that I like. A little bit goes a long way, by the time I finish chewing it I'm no longer hungry. I'm almost 5 months out, yes, I'm losing some hair but not enough to make me worried. I don't dry it with a blow dryer or use any product on it (my fantastic hairdresser helped me find a style that allows me to do this), so maybe that helps? I'm taking 5000 mg of biotin twice a day and using Nutrix shampoo and conditioner. I use MFP to track my protein and calories, I usually get well over 50 g of protein a day. -

Ugh I dread my periods. TMI here, but I'm dealing with it right now. I always find I'm a lot tighter the first day or two of my period but by day 3 I'm fine again. Hang in there, you're not alone at all on this one. -
I've had problems with lettuce & veggies. May be TMI but gave me horrible gas & bloating... I'm almost 5 months out. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

My 1 year is coming up.....
golden1002 replied to golden1002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yea, I totally stalled. But I put the scale away and knew that I was losing inches. But the numbers were not dropping. So I didn't weigh myself for two weeks. Meaning I stuck to the diet plan and when I finally took the leap of faith too get on the scale, too my surprise I lost over 15 pounds in 2 weeks. I think that's great results. Right now I've lost 125 pounds in 11 months. That's alittle more than 11 pounds per months and I think that's super fantastic. My daily work out is Zumba. I bought the DVD's and I love them. I get 3 things out of it. 1st I'm sweating and burning calories and toning, 2en I'm learning how to dance SUPER sexy...lol and 3rd the bed room is very interesting... I know TMI but I'm just enjoy my NEW life and QUILTY of LIFE :-) -
2nd week post-op stall... NOW I understand how y'all feel. :-(
Catgyrl68 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op weight on 1/10 (prior to liquid fast) was 233. Date of surgery weight (1/18) was 225. Post-op appointment weight on 1/24 was 219, for a total of 14 pounds down (YAY!). Fast forward to today, almost 2 weeks out... NO LOSS AT ALL. I've been getting in my Protein and liquids, and even exercising (and feeling great doing it), but that damn scale won't budge. I suppose I have another addiction to add to my list: scale addiction. A bit TMI, but I really have only had 2 "good" BM's since surgery. That could be the problem, too. Trying the Dulcolax he prescribed, but that doesn't seem to be working. Any other slow losers there that can give me words of encouragement? Or, am I just being impatient? LOL -
I just had eggs this morning and it was my first food and I was able to eat all 1/4 of it and it took me a lil to realize I was full. I had burp when I finished eating, sorry I'd that tmi lol.

Going no 2 and mucous
jrsygrl0520 replied to jrsygrl0520's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ya but there is this clear mucous in it too tmi but i was wondering what thats all about -
A change in smell is common after surgery. The food doesn't spend as long in our stomach so the color and odor are different than what we're used to. I know (TMI!!) mine smelled like baby poo until I'd been on solids for awhile and every now and then it still reminds of that. If the smell bothers you they make stuff you put in the toilet (a couple of drops before you go) and its supposed to block the smell. Just a Drop is one, Poopourri is another. I haven't tried them since my smell kinda stopped and I stay at home but my mother uses it at work and says it works fine

Prilosec/other PPI's - length of use
thepick4u replied to Facing50's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 weeks out and I take a 40mg capsule of Prilosec each morning. I had a hiatal hernia repair also. No trouble with heartburn ever. Since surgery I have only been nauseated one time and I think from vitamins. I am in liquids until 1/31/13. I open the capsule and empty the contents into a spoonful of Poweade zero. I have been really pleased with how good my stomach has felt though noisy. If only I could poop! TMI. Lol -
