    Things I won't miss...

So many good lists here, and I have to agree with most of them! One thing I'd like to add, since I've seen no one else mention it, is the awkward/embarrassing way of wiping oneself after going poo (sorry, TMI).....but for the past year, that seems to be bugging me most often I'm also one of those who is reluctant to go anywhere because of my size, and I've only been to church a handful of times in the past 18 months... I really miss my church family, and look forward to spending more time with them. I feel so bad for every one of us here.... Years ago, I never gave much thought to overweight/obese people; now that I've been one for a couple years, I think differently. And I hope that, a year or more down the line after surgery, I remember exactly how I felt at this moment when I look at others around me. God will give me the compassion, understanding, and helping hands I'll need now and in the future!

    First Stuck/Slime/PB Episode

I took my son and his girlfriend to a fancy restaurant for his birthday yesterday. I ended up getting stuck right away and having to go back and forth to the bathroom. There was really no reason that I got stuck so fast. I was eating Soup, carefully. Sometimes I think eating is just not worth it. I was thinking about a previous post while I was noticing (gross to much information) that when I would spit the slime into the sink, it was like a big stretchy long string. I remember someone posting about slime and how sometimes it comes out in little bubbles, etc. Like I said, TMI. I think when I go to restaurants for awhile, I am just going to order herbal tea. This next two weeks should be interesting. I am going to see my dad who doesn't know I got banded and he likes to eat dinner out every day.
  3. I'm 6 weeks post-op and thought I was the exception to the stall rule and didn't experience the dreaded 3rd week stall. Boy was I wrong. At the 4 week point, I'd gained 2 lbs (TMI moment - likely water retention since I was on my cycle that week). Last week I lost 1 lb and this week I lost another 5 lbs. Stalls come with the territory, but keep doing the right thing and you'll feel good when you come out on the other end!

Things that the Dr.'s didn't tell us!!!

The Minimum RDA for fiber grams is 18g per day. It is something you need constantly and daily to keep things moving. We also need to make sure we are getting all the 64 oz of Water too. Keeps things "moving" properly. I know many here are on extremely low carbs but there's no way I'll give up my fiber in detriment for using the bathroom properly. I need to make sure I'm ridding myself of waste! LOL Maybe TMI, but is a normal function! So I try to make sure any carbs I do eat are stocked with fiber. You can still do low carb/hi fiber. I'm starting to get into my purees and mushies from time to time. I'm taking it really slow and feeling so much better right now. But I'm also noticing I'm not flowing right. I think it's time to start making sure I'm getting all my fiber! As for the rings, I went from an 8 to a current 6 right now. My rings were literally falling off. My husband bought me a beautiful new diamond ring in size 6 for our last Anniversary and is being used to hold in my other rings. As I continue to lose I will eventually just have them sized. Just not ready to do that yet as I still need to lose 100 lbs.
  5. Ugh had to vent everything drives me nuts and I just want to be alone I have no desire for anything oddly enough the only thing that dosnt get on my nerves is my hubby! But on the flip side I feel I'm useless to him and I've been on my damn cycle for 8 days I hope it ends soon because this is crap!!! Sorry if its TMI

    Weight going up

Weight fluctuations happen. I bounce from 129 to 133 throughout the week. Also, not to be too TMI, but the best time to weigh is naked, in the morning, after you poop. LOL

    Quite A Realization

I had surgery for my health, but my recent motivation to exercise has been such a shallow thing that I hate to post it. I love looking at my own smaller butt in the mirror! Sorry if that's TMI! You do have a great attitude about this whole journey. I'm working to keep mine positive, but I'd really like to see the weight start coming off on the scale. I'm seeing improvement in every area of my body except my stomach, but I'm somewhat bummed that the scale isn't dropping faster. I do know that I'm building muscle, though. I can feel that muscle and it's effects on my daily life every single day.

    Feeding tube after vsg

OMG I feel for you. Back in 2014 I had complications (couldn't swallow) after they removed my thyroid. I couldn't drink or eat. My veins kept blowing from all the IVs. They finally decided to give me a feeding tube. The. Absolutely. WORST. Experience of my life! Once it was in, it was bearable, but the process of inserting it? I don't know about you, but they don't give you anything to make it easier. You can feel it and I don't think the tech who put in mine had much experience. I was crying because of the pain and gagging, snotting up, peeing myself from stress incontinence (TMI) not able to breathe--did I mention pain? Then, after they did it, the damn thing kept want to wriggle it's way back up. I think my body was saying, "Oh HELL no!" Then they started talking about putting some sort of tube/shunt (I can't remember the word) directly into my stomach). It was depressing as hell. I was lucky and turned the corner (possibly from fear of another procedure). I'm sorry you are having so many problems. Right now I'm waiting for a pleural effusion (Water on the lungs) to be drained and tested. It's pretty much preventing me from exercising, etc., not to mention difficulty breathing. But what I have pales in comparison to what you've gone through. May you also "round the corner" soon.

    Magnesium Citrate

does it make you go when you aren't "going"?....I dunno what my issue is (stop reading here if this is TMI), but I am not going and since I have been having green leafy veggies, figure I should be.... so, if yes, where do I get it. Laxative didn't work.
  11. Thank you so much! I get gas pains regularly and wake up with massive BM. Yes yes tmi.. So im wondering if it will get worse. Lord I hope not! Thank you for all the great info. Walking it is! Did u guys start a workout regiment before surgery? Or did u just start after?

    Fruit

I’m 3 weeks out and craving fruit so badly. How far out did you start eating fruit and what did you choose? My other issue is that I’m not pooping at all (TMI, I know) and I feel like fruit might help that along. I’m taking Linzess and drinking a laxative tea with no results. I have a bottle of mag citrate, but I’m trying to avoid it.

  14. Thanks to EVERYONE that has replied. We should keep the music from Rocky in the back of our minds.....the "theme music" for this phase of our Journey........LOL!!!!! ok.... For those not into "theme musi " it's ok..... But I know that THIS TIME..... we are going to FINALLY going to be VICTORIOUS against this long rivaled Obesity opponent!!!! Good luck Everyone!!!!! @ findingreneeagain: I have to do a liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op. Today was my first day & OMG...... I think my kids think I've been playing a new instrument call the "Flatulant". LOL!!!! ( ok.... That was probably TMI, sorry ) hope that doesn't aggregate your pain. I hate to hear that ur still hurting. I would take advantage of the long weekend....do ABSOLUTLY NADA!!! Glad to see ur in good spirits. Your right. We must keep our eyes on the prize. @Thinkinthin LOL!!! u crack me up!!! But, "I feel ya!"..... Uve gotta do what uve gotta do!!!! All for the ultimate goal of "Healthy" even if uhave to "hide" for a few minutes. Please don't get caught!!! LOL!!! @ Cathie: my surgery is scheduled for July 14th. Are u doing a liquid diet right now? Good Luck on Tuesday!!! @ Candaceshenea: Awwhhh I hate u had this setback. Do u think that it was made worse by extra moving (like reaching above, sliding in ur chair, etc) on ur 1st day bk @ work? Sometimes the smallest of things that we normally do without a 2nd thought can set us bk. Thankfully u were able to give urself the extra time. Hang n there!! @ Penpen: Hey...... Have u been in my head? U sound like me with the "exploding stomach & blood clot" fears (among others) LOL!!!. But, ur right, I just keep reminding myself if my ultimate goal. I havent told but a few close friends & family abt me having this surgrey, so thats another added fear abt a longer recovery. I know it should be my LAST concern. So I keep reminding my self of that. @ Nancy: My job is pretty sedentary. But I will have to control how much I move around. THATS my plan. I've had a little practice with the recovery after my Hyst. I was "reminded" when I over did it. Hopefully I've learned how to gauge it.

    Bowel problems

I was just sleeved on 10/24 and it took almost 7 days for my 1st BM. It was not at all pleasant. It was very difficult and took awhile. Even though I did pretty good getting fliuds in it was hard. Anyhow I talked to my Dr. the other day at my 1 week checkup and was advised to use a stool softner along with benefiber and or miralax. I did pick up colace and benefiber at the store but I only used them that day. The colace being another pill to take along with my other scripts it just too much for me right now. So I think I'll head back out and grab yhe miralax. Btw, I have gone daily since that first time but the poop really reminds me of a babys first in terms of look and texture. Sorry if that was TMI Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App
  16. I know this is tmi..but whatever..sleeved on the 20th and I just had my second bowel movement since getting home. I noticed a very slight bit of mucus..and teeny almost string of blood? Today is the most active I've been since getting home...went to the store.cooked for my family..is this a big deal or do I need to just sit my ass down?
  17. How about 2 weeks post op? I know I'm naturally pretty gassy *sorry TMI* so I don't want it to be even worst. My sister who had surgery last week is having the worst gas problems. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  18. I know what you mean about the worrying. If you feel that it is more pain than you should be having, I would contact your surgeon and ask him what he thinks you should do. I was given a huge binder full of pretty much everything I could expect from this surgery (as well as what to do and how to eat in each phase) and I kept it next to me on the couch for 6 weeks. I read through it regularly to make sure I was on track. My surgeon told me to expect a lot of pain but I blew him off. I don't usually have a lot of pain from surgery and I HATE pain meds, so I was caught off guard and questioned everything. I am glad your gas pain is changing. I had loose stools for about a minute and then....nothing. For many, many days. I got so constipated from those drugs it was crazy. I actually (TMI alert!) developed a fissure. Now THAT was excruciating!!! Miralax has been my constant companion since then, and even now I still get bound up. Hopefully your symptoms will clear up in a day or so and you won't end up going to the extreme opposite end of the spectrum like I did. Just remember to drink pretty much every time you are not "eating." I know it is all liquid at this point, but Water will help stave off constipation after the loose stools end. I really do hope you start feeling better soon. You have been through a lot! Welcome to the other side, though. Soon this will all be behind you and you will be able to get on with getting healthy!
  19. This has been on my mind for awhile now... and maybe it is a bit of TMI. I don't think it is really. Okay I'm creating a poll to see how many of you here actually floss your teeth. I mean EVERY SINGLE DAY like clockwork. Not just when you remember or have time, or when you know you have a cleaning or dental appointment. Actually, maybe I'll make that an option too. Not to worry, I won't make this poll viewable so you can be honest with your answer. The reason why I'm wondering is because, myself, I NEVER used to floss (I know, gross huh?). I was brought up with good dental coverage and all that. I just never did. Maybe I was lazy or whatever, I don't know why I didn't. Growing up my Mom would make sure I got my cleanings on schedule every six months, and even had braces. She took good care of my teeth! I've had three oral surgeries. One to extract extra teeth in preparation for my braces, then another to extract the same teeth (yes they were adult teeth) that decided they wanted to regrow. I was truly one in a million with that one! Anway, the last one was for the wisdom teeth. Okay I'm getting off track here, I'm just trying to say - I had no excuse for not flossing. I was taught better. Well, I went 6 years without a cleaning as of last year! Yeah, I know - gross again... LOL!! Turns out I needed to have some fillings fixed and a deep cleaning on each side.:scared2::confused: Yeah! That sucked!! Trust me, deep cleanings are a b*tch!! Anyway, I asked my Dental Hygienist how on Earth could I prevent this from ever happening again??? She simply said, well - floss. Simple as that? Well she did also then tell me making sure I'm getting my routine cleanings too will help as well. She said my pockets were ranging from 4 to 7's. Not sure if any of you know what I'm talking about, but apparently that's not very good. She said not super bad either for someone who has neglected my teeth for so long though. She said she had hope for me. So, I flossed every single day in between my deep cleanings and such.... Long story less long, I just went in for a cleaning and she told me I had the cleanest mouth of the week award! Wow!! She even called in my Dentist to check it out! He said wow, great job too. He said she's really tough when it comes to that and I should be honored... LOL!! Also, my pockets are all 2's now. So, flossing and regular cleanings really do work! Who knew? Share your stories if you dare. :sneaky:
  20. @ I was like you and still am some times. I am 3 months post op and sometimes it's like nothing coming out. BUT, yesterday and today, I finally took a good, hearty poop since my surgery. I'm sorry, TMI, but I kept waiting and waiting for months for it to happen I had to tell someone. LOL Where ya from, Southern Sleever?

    Bowel movements

Not too much actually. Just remember you haven't had much really except shakes...down the road I would suggest taking a stool softener, I'm almost 7 weeks out and have had horrible constipation (tmi sorry). Getting 65ounces of water in on top of 65 gm protein is my struggle!
  23. I don't know what the back pain would be. Other than referred pain from your tummy or gas that you don't even know you have. I stil have pain in the larger incision. They said that would hyrt the longest because it's where they pull the stomach through. (TMI truly) But I'm glad they told me. Now I need to get walking more.
