This will be a TMI post... I am exactly 49 days post op (yay) Finally starting to feel like myself and experimenting with eating different foods. Its awesome. I haven't had many issues with rejecting food just yet or throwing up so I am really thankful for that. However, my excitement is short lived because......I haven't been able to poop independently since surgery About two weeks postop I had an issue with fecal impaction and it. was. the. worst. thing. ever. I thought I was going to die. the pain, dehydration, straining, dizzy/faint feeling was enough for me to vow to never go that long without pooping again. Therefore I have resorted to using different ways to make myself go. Anytime I have gone has been with the assistance of suppositories or enemas, stool softeners, etc. although they (sometimes) work I really don't want to continue to have to use enemas and suppositories because I feel like constant use CANT be healthy...also being on all fours shoving liquid up your bum, less than desirable :/ I have tried upping my Fiber, nothing. I have tried eating fibrous fruits, no dice. So the next thing I wanted to try is this Wheat bran, prune juice and applesauce mixture that I read might help? Has anyone tried this and had good/bad/any results???

Today is the first day I got on the scale since my surgery. I only weigh once a week. I learned not to weight every day since I started the dieting and exercise program in May. It seems like most of the gas should be gone from what has been going on I have passed a lot of gas (TMI) but I am just so discouraged. Shouldn't have any water weight left either. Lol. I use the bathroom all the time. I hope you are right. I have a doctor appt next Wednesday. I guess I will stay off the scale until I have to get on the scale then, I sure hope I lose because I will be very depressed if I don't.

Has Surgery Changed Anyone's Marriage? Good Or Bad
kmbrlycool replied to 303Gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three months out and if anything it has improved our marriage at this point. My husband is still free to do whatever he wants... Meaning im not letting my surgery change him. He eats what he wants and we still go to restaurants he wants. Plus he sees my sef esteem and sense of self worth increase so I think he is happy because of that. In addition with the more weight I lose and the more time that passes, he realized its that we are just that much closer to tryin to conceive, we both really want children I still cook his regular meals and we still have sex just as often as before... Things are good. More energy. More sex positions (tmi?). -
Hey guys! Sleeved June 19, surgery went well. In and out of the hospital in 2 days. 4 days PO and all I've been dealing with is the rumbling/gurgles of my stomach. Is this normal? It's typically all of the time, but especially after I drink something. I have definitely been struggling to get all the fluids in, but it has been getting better each day. My surgeon has me on Clear liquids 5 days PO and then on to full liquids. Can anyone suggest what they drank/ate at this phase? I can tolerate SF Jello and Popsicles and that's about it, I would like to try some broths but anything that I even smell turns my stomach. Also (sorry for all the questions) I know we are supposed to avoid citric fruits PO, however I am finding that a lot of the G2 drinks and Popsicles have citric acid in them, is it alright to still be eating/drinking them? And finally as far as BMs sorry I know tmi, but all mine have been completely liquid and at least 3-5 times a day, again normal or should I be worried? This journey is far from the easy way out and I wish the people who thought that could go through a day or two of what it actually feels like. But I know that this is the best decision I've made my entire life and I'm so excited to see how much I'll lose and how healthy I can get! Thanks for all your infor. And help! Shelby

My sleeve revision to bypass was done in Mexico 4 weeks ago. Performed by the same surgeon who did my sleeve. He was great with the sleeve so I went back. I had lots of post-op pain the days following the procedure. Surgeons went back in to do an endoscopy to check for a leak, but found no leak. They said I was actually constipated (sorry TMI) and likely causing the pain. Once returned hone I developed a post-op infection, went to see a general surgeon who gave me antibiotics for a superficial infection and said that was all I needed. Thankfully it wasn’t a deep infection. I have had so much difficulty getting anything in. I carry Gatorade zero around with me all day, as well as water and protein drink. I’m so thirsty but it hurts to drink much through the day. I do still try. I’m not getting in my protein, but am getting in my Barimelt vitamins! The abdominal pain has increasingly gotten worse over the past week. I’m curled up in a ballin bed, and my gastric area is sensitive to the touch. Any thought/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Ok, maybe TMI, but..... I have noticed since beginning protein shakes that I feel like I am getting a bladder infection. I did increase my fluids and it seemed to relieve it somewhat. Anyone else have this issue? Any tips?

Headache and Liquid Diet
CherieRyde replied to astalsby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my pre-op on Wednesday as well, and the headaches are INSANE. Also ... no one warned me about the changes in my bowels. I expected loose stools since I'm on liquid for everything except dinner. What I DIDN'T expect was the fact that when you have to go ... it's GO NOW and not after you finish whatever task you are working on like normal. Also ... depending on what shakes you are on (my doc prescribed the New Direction weight control system) ... the odor is ...well .. think baby diapers where the baby is on soy formula. Yes ... this is TMI, but SOMEONE needs to say it. Be prepared. Stay near a toilet, or know where all of the toilets are when you go out. It'll hit on Day 3 if what I'm experiencing and if my friend's experience is anything close to the norm. -

Dominicana 88 Hi, I'm from San Pedro de Macoris I came to NYC when I was 10 yrs old. I did use first response Opk, I wasn't sure when i got them positive, if my body was doing what it was supposed to be doing, you know how pcos is...and after that we only did it twice that cycle during my fertile window, I wasn't even sure if i was ovulating for sure, and I stayed in bed after sorry tmi but I didnt go to pee after. I know yuck, I just clean in bed, somebody told no to pee after, so i pee before. I had my positive 8 days before my period, that is extremely early, n I couldn't believe it, so the next i went to clinic and pay 35 dollars for a same day results and it was positive. Be ready cuz, your miracle is coming soon! God bless you.

Anyone getting sleeved in July or August? Looking for buddies!
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to abbyfran7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I first started my antiobiotics I had so much nausea for 2 to 4 hours after each pill for the first day and a half, then I was fine. Took the body some time to get used to the pills. I like to think it was the death of the little beasties that was making me feel sick. They are being punished for causing me to push back my surgery a month. Oh I just remembered, I also had two absolutely terrible side effects of the Clarithromycin, my mouth constantly tasted gross and I got my first ever yeast infection (TMI, I know but I like to be overly honest at times). If you get Clarithromycin (though from what i'm told it can happen with any antiobiotic because they are killing bacteria, good and bad) try and offset it by eating a lot of yogurt with acidiphillus and chew lots of gum or suck on hard candy/mints. The two weeks go by quickly. -
Milk of magnesia. Just don't plan on going anywhere that day I was do badly constipated I wanted it surgically removed. I know... TMI, but really the pain while on the potty was horrible. But then I had some MOM and I felt so much better. Good luck. Btw, it gets better

I'm a grouchy kind of fellow. I honestly believe that half of the reason for that is I just cannot keep regular. I eat well, a fair amount of Fiber and supplement with Benefiber; but honestly only 1 in 5 BM's are the type that are satisfying. You know the type, where you leave the stall with a smirk and know that you have bested the commode instead shaking your head saying that next time will be different. Lately, my relationship with the john has been one of menace. I step into the stall and immediately cop an attitude with the shitter: But more often than not, I leave like this: You know, head hung low in shame. I'm happy to report that today, I have bested that porcelain SOB. Now I can't wait to go to the gym and weigh in for the week!

I am in purée/ soft food stage (sorta in between) and I noticed a little constipation the other day and dr office said to take fiber so I did all day yesterday but then I didn’t go at all. After surgery they said if you didn’t go for two days it was the start of a big deal is this the same now? Should I just take the milk of magnesia after two days like right afterwards. Is getting enough fiber going to be a lifelong challenge?

IBUPROFEN????? Guys - may be TMI
timmmers replied to JenFenRen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc actually told me to take advil! He said that as long as I drink before I take a pill, and then drink at least 250ml (one cup) of warm Water afterwards, AND as long as it doesn't get stuck... then he suggests I take advil as it's much better at releiving pain and it also speeds up the healing process. I haven't had any problems thus far. oh, and this was definitely not TMI. There have been posts that are A LOT worse. This is a good place to be open and honest. -
I had my bypass on Monday and barely leaving the hospital now.. too much nausea as all can do is burp and walk. No bowel movement, which is ok, considering I haven’t eaten in 4 days. Going to try milk of Mag, although honestly it’s too hard to even reach and wipe.. sorry TMI but truth.

Mexico Bariatric Center- Mi Hospital- Dr. Valenzuela
biginjapan replied to Eric M's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes I did. I'm now 12 days post-op and have lost 6kg/13lb since then. I've felt really good since surgery, including the day of, with no gas pains, no nausea, and little restriction with liquids. And since about day 4 or 5, 3 BMs a day (a little TMI, but a lot of people suffer from constipation post-op). However, I was the only one on my floor like that - everyone else had one or more of the common issues. However, I do find that I am having more restrictions with liquids now, so I have to spread out my drinking and "meals" (still liquids) to be smaller but more constant throughout the day. -
I understand what you mean, I had a business lunch the other day and got stuck....fun. We are going home over the holidays and this will be the first time I will see some of my family since being banded....I am a bit nervous as to how they will take my portion size and GOD I hope I don't have to excuse myself to PB. If I do, however I hope I can make it funny! Phew, thank goodness! LOL Just kidding with you a bit. I've been fortunate to have time to make it to the bathroom too. Although when I am at home, I normally use the kitchen sick.....ewwhh I know but it's the truth. Welcome John and glad I we can all be of service. No but seriously it's nice to hear that you didn't leave the thread thinking....OMG....Way TMI!!!! YOu are so funny! I love your profile piccy btw! Very nice! Hard work has paid off! Did you have work done?

100% on point for me Lisa... I was in a bad marriage, overweight and miserable, of COURSE there was no sex drive. Seven years out of that marriage and 56 pounds off my 5'4" frame, 14 pounds from my conservative goal weight, rocking size 6 jeans and able to wear all those lacy sexy things from the stores in the mall that don't carry any size above a large???? Um, yes, I'm feeling pretty frisky! lol Add a new man into that equation (who constantly tells me I'm hot -- I have to tell myself to believe and accept that)... let's just say if women are in their prime in their 40s and I've wasted 8 years of that, I'm planning to make up for some lost time! Sorry if TMI! lol

November Sleevers
newstart38 replied to brittneywlsj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been awhile since I posted here but here my story, I was sleeved on 11/19 the day of surgery I slept most of the day but my tummy was hungry like crazy, every time I got up to use the bathroom I was dry heaving and vomiting until I got zofran utu my tummy still wasn't having that it wanted food. I was nothing by mouth until the next day, I couldn't even have ice chips. The next day I was given pain meds which I barely had any pain and nausea medicine before going home I was given my BP meds and protonix. I had to drink 30mL of Water every hour until lunch came. I had broth. Gelotein decaf tea and some Protein but I only responded to the Gelotein. So it seems like I was find holding down everything but my tummy was still demanding something else to eat. I walked the halls and then was released home. Once home I was still hungry and drinking 30mL every hour, drink broth and I continue to dry heave and brink up what my tummy didn't like. It went on like this for another day. Yesterday I was able to do full liquids, the first day I tried pudding it shut up for a minute and I was cool the second day it rejected it. Yesterday I tried baby food that I can have as long as it was cooked and thin liquid form. Well let me tell you how I ate the whole bottle over a period of time. My tummy gets hungry every 4 hours. So my last scoop my stomach was not happy with, I thought it was gas pains so I figured I would walk it off in walmart Wrong! !, it continue to hurt. So when I got home a did a gas x strip didn't help so I did some mirlax because now I feel constipated tmi still nothing in return but a sore hungry tummy and dry mouth. I am to scared to eat so I continue to do my ice chips and went to be miserable. This morning I was awaken by really bad heartburn and dry mouth, so I am sitting at my table at 4:30am eating sf Jello and drinking Powerade zero. Is anyone able to drink a lot more liquids at one time inside of sipping? Sorry about the long post. -
Great response. I'm pre-op and after my own research I learned that skin is ruined if it's stretched out so yeah.....I'd rather loose it fast but I agree with all of what u said here. I want to be small and I don't think skin matters. I do it in the dark as it is already lol. Atleast now I'll be able to fit into the lingerie and shape wear I want. Sorry for the tmi Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App

I just had to share…I’m an idiot…OK, you knew that. For those that read yesterday’s blog, a quick update. I was trying on some pants and decided to see how my new body shaper worked under my new too snug size 12 pants (see pics, helps the muffin-top, but I can't tell the difference on the thighs...sigh). So I’m doing my aerobics and working up my usual sweat getting the shaper on…a tug here, a jump there…my crotch is still hanging low, so I go to tug it up… GUESS WHAT?!!! My finger happens to find a hole in the freakin’ crotch!!! I’m serious!!! I’m still in hysterics laughing. OK, I’m not sure how you would manage this hole in the bathroom, or whether they intended it for that use. I looked online, as their tags on it don’t mention this, but online it says a ‘split crotch’…no details on it‘s purpose (I‘m sure they‘re not going to make any promises on use for liability/embarrassment reasons). OK, it’s really not a hole as much as it is two pieces of overlapping fabric…and they overlap more than 2”…you know me, I’m a tester… Yes, I did…well….not really. I got so far as to take off my panties (which raises the question…are you still supposed to wear your panties under these contraptions?) and put the d*rn shaper back on and I sat on the pot. I could use my fingers to get the hole to be pretty big, but not big enough for me to even…ehemmm…risk trying. *Warning TMI (OK, I‘m a little late with that one, sorry)* I’m a ‘dribbler’…after that bladder sling surgery it takes me FOREVER to pee…and after I started the Vesicare pills it now takes an act of God, some serious meditation and prayer, and at least 10 min. So not only would I have to start doing aerobic workouts with my fingers daily to work up to the point where I could sit there for 15 minutes holding this open with them, but I’d have to pee so badly that I’d have a ‘normal stream’. So here’s what I need for my ‘study’….I need a 20 year old, who hasn’t had any children to give this a try and report back to us (I‘m sure I would have figured out a way to do this when I was in my 20‘s…and out to the bars drinking). In fact I’m sure one of you reading my blog had done this, but prefers to remain anonymous…feel free to PM me and share your experience/technique (I can then post for you anonymously). You know me though…if it’s stupid, I’ll be doing it at least once…let‘s just hope it‘s not like my ‘Horrific PB Event‘ when I‘m out to dinner (and decided I could PB between my legs while sitting on the pot)…I know, you‘re all placing your big money bets now…especially after you have that ’Ah-Ha’ moment when you remember I said ’I’m only going to wear the shaper for special events.’
