  1. Hey Guys, I know TMI... but I have been getting horrible gas pains right after I eat. Almost instantaneous. I am about three months out and this just started. Shakes are ok but I just had chicken and it was almost immediate. I'm chewing well so I don't think that is it. Gas X really doesn't help it. It is so weird. Anyone else? Or is i just me??

    Totally inappropriate question

I can't believe I have missed out on this thread! Okay, I am one who actually enjoys this activity. I am dismayed to learn I should have been pretending to suffer through it..LOL Okay, here is TMI ~ since I eat so healthy now I find it surprisingly ... Salty.

    What ya eating tonight?

Kinda of topic but oh well. Does anyone feel more full with water than food. I can only do 2 sips of water but I can sit and eat about 3 ounces of beans or food. I do take my time but I just cant drink anymore for about 30 minutes if I do it comes back up and I cant hold it sorry TMI but Im kinda worried that seems odd or at least I haven't heard of this happening to anyone Im 3 wks out I can't get all my water in. It takes me half a day to drink just a bottle of 16.9 ounces
  5. Okay, I have a question about constipation. I wont get too graphic but ever since I tried adding Protein shakes into my daily diet (I'm on the 6 month supervised diet), I seem to get constipated. I feel like I've tried everything from drinking more Water, adding more Fiber, eating more fruits and veggies, stool softeners and Metamucil. It gets a little better but still there. Anyone else have issues from adding protein? And now, I'm worried about how it will be after surgery when it's all about protein. Any help/insights?

So how did I fair a stomach virus

Well I was always told by my surgeon that lapband patients should never throw up and this question has come up many times on the forums what happens if you get a stomach virus. Well I haven't had one in about 2 decades so I was kind of hoping I wouldn't ever get one again. Well last night after dinner my stomach felt like crap. I only ate a small amount of pork but I took some prilosec and went to bed. Holy crap at 2 a.m. I woke up heaving up what I thought was all my internal organs and had massive amounts of diarrhea I know TMI. The good thing was the only thing that was coming up was gas so it was just horrible dry heaving. I was home alone because my husband was away and I knew I could not drive to the hospital with a bucket heaving as hard as I was. I figured I would take some compazine I had from my gallbladder surgery and I called my surgeon. He said drink water even if it comes back up because it will make the throwing up less violent and meet him at his office at 6.a.m. Well so much for the compazine because that wouldnt even stay down. My doctor met me at his office at 6a.m gave me a shot for the nausea because he is nice like that and sent me for a stat ct scan. By now I was only throwing up about every hour. My little band was fine thank God. He said at three years post op that it is probably well adhered to the stomach so it would take more than this to move it. Of course I have major swelling so he told me clear liquids for the rest of the week and through the weekend and not to try to put any food in there even if I am hungry. He gave me a shot for the nausea which thank God has gone away and told me to drink plenty of gator aid for now. He didn't think there was a need to remove the fluid, just resting the stomach would do fine he said. Well the one good thing about all this is I hate more then anything to throw up and I was thankful that nothing came up. So now ya know if you have a stomach virus the first thing to do is call your doctor to guide you. He is there for me no matter what. I dont feel embarrassed to call him and this time I needed him. I don't like going to the ER's for things like this because there are worse off people then me in there. So now if the other end stops I will be fine. Trying to eat some italian water ice slowly just to get some fluids in. So my hope is to not have a stomach virus for another 4 decades now lol.
  7. Sorry for TMI. I had my first bowel movement post-op this morning. Since that time I have had diarrhea 4 times. I woke up after an hour of sleeping and had the 4 attack of diarrhea. About 30 minutes later, I am having a sudden attack of the first nausea I've had since the first day after my surgery. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I took a promethazine. Waiting for it to work.

    i hate my tom

Tom;tmi; tonight we went out to dinner and because of my special time I crave red meat..as I'm sure a lot of women do. Well when my steak came to the table with my mushrooms and broc I was as excited as a fat girl with a can of whipped cream.. eerrrr my steak was way over cooked so I requested a new one which took about 30 minutes of me eating shrooms and broc...by the time my steak came out I took one bite and realized I had filled up on veggies ;( well I was ready to tell the manager how upset I was when he came over and informed me that because I didn't get to eat with my family that my meal was on the house... ;( I was so ready to inform them how I'm on a special diet and I just lost out on 40 grams of protein and have a complete ragtime rant and he had to be sooooooo nice! So here I am venting to you guys what I was unable to vent at dinner yes I know I'm crazy but at least my protein is sitting in the fridge for tomorrow!

    reflux from fiber tablets?

Can you just increase your fiber intake as part of your eating plan? Or try one of the fiber powders? I add ground flax seed to my protein shake and it keeps me full and excuse me...loose. Probably TMI, but it does work.
  13. It is a change in how deep he can go now. Certain positions can get a little uncomfortable for me now. I have found a vibrator on my clit (can i SAY that??) will distract me from the discomfort & increase my pleasure. I know.....TMI! ????
  14. Hi everyone! I just got banded the other day, 2/7/13. I'm very excited I got it done and I can't wait to start seeing results. My number one complaint right now is back, chest and shoulder pain from the CO2 gas. When should I expect this to go away? I don't really think the pain meds are helping much in regards with that pain, just with the incision pain. My husband has been rubbing ben gay on my back which actually helps a bit. Now sorry for the TMI, but I've starting passing gas early this morning. I've read alot about people taking gas x but it actually feels good, like I'm relieving some pressure. Should I be taking gas x? Thanks!

So sorry for the UTIs. I know how miserable they are as I have had them chronically since my third child was born 40 years ago. I did have a bladder repair when I had my last (10th) baby 25 years ago and it helped for awhile. I take cranberry supplements everyday and that does help. When I do get a full-blown infection, macrobid works but Cipro never does. It took several cultures to prove to my male doctors that Cipro doesn't work for me. Doctors seem to prefer using it first and apparently it works well for most people. The other two things that work for me when I'm miserable are drinking straight cranberry juice--unsweetened and really awful but works almost instantaneously and the other is a prescription pill that numbs the urinary tract. I haven't had to take the numbing pill since surgery so I'll have to make sure it's ok now. I've had two UTIs since my surgery on Dec 10. One took the full treatment of antibiotics but the other I was able to control with the cranberry juice and supplements. If I can treat an infection when I first feel it coming on I have pretty good success. I'm sure this is tmi but maybe there is something here that might be helpful to someone. The doctor who helped me the most is a woman who said she had one infection once and so will not let another woman suffer like that Good luck everyone. Feel better!
  16. I haven't use the restroom #2 in 5 days... What should I do!! I called my doctor he said to drink more water ... Ugh it feels like I have to take a S*** but it don't wanna come out ... It is so Uncomfortable .. HELP
  17. So, I'm struggling with a couple things... First, I haven't lost a thing not a single pound, in well over a week (nearly 2).. Second, I've always been a super 'regular' person and I have barely popped in like 5 days!!! I've added more fiber, drink water constantly, pumped up the exercise.. WTH?! #Frustrated
  18. I'm 7 days post sleeve surgery (surgery date 1/31/13). I've been heavy all my life, but was always pretty athletic and held it together well. I'm roughly 6ft tall, and over the past couple of months, I went from 240lbs to 290lbs with the help of food, and some bad discs in my neck and back. So I decided to start looking around for alternatives for weight loss due to high BP and bad neck and back problems. Fast forward to today. Each day I experience a few different things...pains in my sides, extreme tenderness in one incision, extreme bloating, and now explosive gas and diarrhea (I know, TMI). I get extreme pains in the substernal area. I'm probably just paranoid, but mentally I feel like I did the right thing for my health, but I am very nervous about each little change. I know I'm only 7 days, but I guess I'm just looking for some comfort.

    Post op experiences and support

Today was a good day. My father in law stayed again to take care of our baby, and my husband is getting better from the novo virus which is going around. Red alert, ladies, this novo virus is vomit and diarrhea and is VERY prevalent - would be torture to us newly banded people!! Needless to say, husband sleeps on the couch and we disinfect the bathroom for each other before and after each use. So far so good...neither me or the 3 month old need to share this experience with daddy, lol. I am moving around very well. I'm not risking lifting the baby out of her crib, but picking her up from the changing table or her rocker is easy, and not painful at all. Father in law left this afternoon and DH and I are working in shifts, so he will watch DD while I nap, and then I'll watch her while he naps. It's working out well. I miss my bathtub but will tough it out. Already I am having hunger, but once I start drinking I'm pretty discouraged from solid food. I'm looking forward to the pureed diet (remember, I totally suck with liquids) and am focused on staying on liquids as long as I can. For dinner tonight I mixed 2 TBSP Peanut Butter and 1/2 banana with my chocolate Protein Shake. I not only need the calories but I needed the weight of food. I think I got in like 800 calories today, way better than the last 2 days. Gas X continues to be my hero, and I'm hoping tomorrow I'll start having bowel movements again. (Sorry for TMI, but this stuff becomes necessary lol) How's everyone else doing? Susan, BTW, I'm in the same boat with the scale. I peeked, it hasn't moved. In fact I'm 1 lb up. I'm focusing on protein...pretty sure things will loosen up and weight will drop in the next few days.
  20. Post-op day 2 for me. I had a much better night last night. The nausea has subsided, so I was able to take my pain med (I use Tylenol with Codeine), whenever I needed it. Yesterday was long. I still have pretty sharp pain in my left shoulder, between my shoulder blades, near my collar bone and in my mid back. My only abdominal discomfort is the port incision, but it's getting less each day. Yesterday I sort of forced myself to get enough fluids. I just have no appetite or desire to put anything in my mouth. I did, however, have Water, beef broth, diluted grape juice, suagr free Jello and an ice pop. I also got in one clear Protein Drink. Today I can add to all of that, Skim Milk Plus to make a Protein Shake. I feel no restriction, but then again my surgeon does not do any filling at the time of insertion. I will get in the habit of sipping, because I am a gulper, especially with water. My belly is still quite distended, but I AM passing gas....TMI. I can shower today. I'm looking forward to that. I'm walking my hallways when I can, doing my deep breathing (don't want wind up with pneumonia). I am 59 afterall. I also plan on getting plenty of rest again today. I just wanted to keep you up to date, so those that are waiting for surgery will know what to expect. Of course, we're not all the same. Susan
  21. I was sleeved yesterday afternoon. I have been fighting throwing up all night long. Seems like every two hours, I literally vomit a bit in my mouth (sorry if this is tmi), and then swallow it back down. I was just sound asleep, my mouth filled with bile/acid, then it went back down (waking me up). The nurse says that this can happen, and not to worry. Has this happened to anyone??? I'm so tired cuz I can't seen to get more than 2 hrs sleep.

    For the LADIES Only Please...

lol its natural to feel that way, dont be embarrassed. I haven't noticed any changes down there, but Ive had 2 kids so i might not be the best person to give that type of advice haha but before and after surgery i have not noticed any difference and neither has my husband sorry tmi. I think if someone can have kids and it shrink back to "normal" im sure that with weight loss over time it will be ok.
  23. I was wondering how far into this process I would have "buyer's remorse". Now, just over 2 months from my initial consult, today was the day. I had my first (and hopefully ONLY) vomiting episode this afternoon. I had tried to drink my Protein shake a bit too soon after eating a piece of turkey bacon. Oh Lordy, I almost didn't make it to the bathroom fast enough. That was the strangest puking I've ever experienced. Everything came up exactly as it went down, including the cold shake. LOL (Sorry, TMI) After that, I got so depressed, thinking, "How on earth am I supposed to get any food protein in? One day I can eat chicken... The next day I can't. One day eggs are fine... The next day they make me nauseous. It would be so much easier if I didn't have that "75 GRAMS OF PROTEIN" hanging over my head. Please, please tell me it gets easier.
