Although I despise pix of myself I included one just as proof! My NSV is walking into the employee store & being able to buy a large fitted tee & having it actually fit! A year ago I never would've worn this....mainly cause it would've fit better around one of my thighs then my core GO DUCKS!!!!

Well as my title says I am 11 weeks post op today and I am down 60.2 lbs!!!! I am so excited and happy with my progress I could just scream it from the roof tops!! This surgery was not something I wanted to do, it was recommended to me by a doctor I was seeing to repair my ventral hernia. So we started looking into it. I was so afraid of the surgery, the recovery, the way I would have to eat, etc. I don't think there was one part that didn't scare me. I am glad that I had to do a 6 month supervised diet because it gave me time to wrap my head around all the changes and to make sure I thought I could do it. Well I did it and I am doing it. Nothing went as I thought and that is a good thing. I have had very few problems and the ones I have had have been minor. Grant it the weight I am at now is a weight a lot people are starting their journey at, but for me with a highest weight of 324, and pre op diet weight of 314.8 I have come a long way. I still have a ways to go, but I truly believe I can do this. I feel so much better already. The NSV's are happening daily. Like just the other night we went to dinner and I did my usual check out the booth before I sit down, picked the side that looked bigger and sat down. I literally squeal out loud almost everytime I sit in a booth and I have like 5 inches between me and the table now. My family just laughs at me. It's little things like this that amaze me everyday. I just wanted to share my joy this morning!! This site has been a god send for me, pre op and post op. I try my best to encourage and give back posting when I can. For anyone out there just starting their journey, when you read it will get better, IT DOES GET BETTER!! Sometimes it is hard to believe that but it does!! Have a great Monday everyone and drink your water!! lol

Sounds like one fantastic NSV to me!!!!!!!! -
Love these posts! Arlene, let's go dancing! Gay clubs were such a a great dance outlet for me in the eighties. Fun times. In the last year we made friends with people who host monthly dance parties in a town not far from here. We've been to two and that's another NSV for me: dancing! We are definitely then oldest people but I can still tear it up. Thanks to my band and losing the two cinder blocks worth of fat.......

Slow weight loss - feeling very low
Kindle replied to slimgal2015's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thin out your shakes with milk or water. Have you tried Isopure or Syntrax nectar protein drinks? They have the consistence of water. Try broth with added unflavored protein powder. Warm stuff went down better for me. And for heaven's sake, stay off the scale! Sounds like you have very unrealistic goals. How is 36 pounds in less than a month a "slow" weight loss?!? Took me 3 months to lose 30 pounds and I was thrilled with every single ounce. And I only stepped on the scale about 6 times in those three months. Quit obsessing over the numbers, concentrate on getting in all of your nutrition, relax and enjoy your NSV's. -
Side sleepers/body pillow
joatsaint replied to Lindsey Skinner Abbott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a lifelong side sleeper and for 3 weeks or so after, I could not comfortably sleep on either side. I'd feel an uncomfortable "pulling" sensation in my stomach. My solution was to sleep propped up, on my back, like in a hospital bed. I rolled up a comforter like a log and put it against my headboard. That provided enough of an angle for me to sleep comfortably. Sometime during that 3rd week, the pulling sensation went away and I resumed sleeping on my side. Now the only problem I have side-sleeping is having to keep some comforter between my knees - I lost all the fat in my legs and know my knees hurt when they touch. I rank that as one of my top 10 NSV's!!!! So you get to look forward to THAT! -
Gratitude - what are you thankful for?
CrazyJaney posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
10 months post op and -115 pounds (30 more to go). I'm constantly having NSV's and feel grateful everyday. More than anything, I am grateful for better mobility and overall health. Watching others struggle with basic functions has really opened my eyes as to where I was going had I not lost weight. This week has been so stressful at work. I'm a nurse and we have been unbelievably busy for about 2 months. The patients being admitted are so sick. I can't tell you how many times I've stood at a bedside this week and felt immensely grateful that I have been able to lose 115 pounds. Several of my patients have weighed 250-300 and are severely limited in their mobility. I know if I had kept on, that would have been me in 10-20 years. I felt so sad for two different women today: one a patient who weighs 300+ and can't do anything for herself, and a 250 pound visitor (elderly woman) who couldn't make it back to her car because it was too much walking. She was so stooped over with arthritis and her knees could barely hold her. I am so grateful and motivated to keep this up. I never want to be that immobile of that dependent. I. Am. Grateful. -
I know so many of us are numbers focused, myself included but we should really look at NSVs and/or the bigger picture regarding quality of life. I say this because for two years now, I've been watching my weight go down and my clothing sizes go down as well and at so many times, the two do not match up as I expected. I've said before on other posts, that I had to lose an awful lot of weight just to go down one or two sizes from my inital starting point of 4X in tops and 26/28 in pants. Yet I've noted that over the last four months, I've dropped a total of ten lbs. That's roughly .6 lbs. a week. Not much, right? Yet....I have gone from a petite medium/large to petite small in tops and fit comfortably in a size 6 petite in slacks and possibly into size 4's depending on the manufacturer. I bought silk thermal leggings/tops last week because of the cold weather and I tried them on yesterday and the small fit with no problem...in fact, I might have been OK in the extra small (which is a size 2/4). All on ten pounds. So what I'm trying to get across here is that numbers are just that....numbers. It's the changes we've made. The healthier eating...the healthier we've become...more mobility, less co-morbidities, the more active we are in terms of exercise and socializing. The more comfortable we have become in the world. The more engaged we are with life. This is what is important to remember in our weight loss journey. We are so much more than our stats...and we have to remember that so as not to obsess over it. Have a great weekend everyone.

Welcome to the forum. I've never noticed how many teens are on this forum, but I wish I had been able to get WLS back then. It would have saved me years and years of misery. Welcome to the Loser's Bench. You have any NSV's yet?

Horror upon horrors I had to video-conference today for a new job. Eeek! Not only do I have telephone anxiety (conference calls were a major food trigger for me prior to my band) but being seen on camera? Oh. My. God. There are hardly any photographs of me in our family albums and certainly no video. I've always been too ashamed of my weight and how I looked. So today, ta-da! I was fine. Not that I wasn't a nervous wreck -- I still felt anxious but I didn't need food to tamp down the feelings (thank you, Band, for the dimmed appetite). I set the equipment up ahead of time and chose my outfit carefully, positioned the camera just right with all my notes just above and behind. When the conference got going I couldn't believe how good I looked. I am not only acceptable, I'm more than that. I look like some one I'd really like -- and that makes me laugh because now I really do like myself and I like how I look. I've still got some weight to lose but you know what, I don't have to hide anymore. It's okay for me to be out in the world. Yippee!

Stalls suck, but they tend to be related to Water retention. Any chance that you've been slipping just a bit? I suspect that if you go into and out of ketosis, it might lead to water retention, which can cause a stall. The good news is that even during a stall you should be losing inches. So check you clothing and use the non-scale victories (NSVs) to get you through. Like a tunnel, there's a light at the end of every stall. Good luck!

My Sleeves are Too Long!
Katcloudshepherd replied to Spooney's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeves too long is still a NSV! Congratulations on your loss. It just struck me that this is one of the few places you will ever hear those words in the same sentence: "Congratulations on your loss". Most of the time it is: "So sorry for your loss". As a dear friend often says: "but I digress". I'm happy for your success. Wishing you continued NSV's and even more "losing" . I hope to NEVER find the weight I've lost Blessings, Kathleen -
I noticed the same thing when I started losing....it's not so much that your arms are getting shorter, it's more that since you're now smaller, your taking up less body material for your clothing, so the clothes sorta 'hang more' off of you. As SimplyChearvon says, it's really a great NSV!! Wish you the best!!

Sounds like a great NSV !

I had an "aha" moment finally (with pics)
LaLoLaughs replied to LaLoLaughs's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks everyone. Even a Giants' fan in this horrible season so that's something to respect at least right? I actually had a drawer of clothes I bought pre op that were "goals" because I needed NSV for this weeks were we stall. I'm happy to report it is half empty. That clearance NSV made me laugh! Good for you!! I do the same thing. "There's no way this fits" go into the dressing room and am baffled when it does or weirdly when it doesn't because it's too big lol. It happened so quickly that I just can't wrap my my mind around it yet most days. I need to try that turkey jerky, I've heard that's a great option. -
Slightly Depressed- 3 Weeks Post Op and Gaining Weight
BLERDgirl replied to MyssJones's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Someone explained this earlier I wish I had saved the post. Basically the first 2 weeks your're losing water weight and you're body is in shock from the surgery. By week 3 you're body is settled into your new eating routine. I'll echo what everyone else is saying, stay off the scales. I actually don't weight myself more than once a month. The scale will make you crazy. Look for other NSV(non-scale victories). For example now would be a good time take your measurements. I just did mine today and I'm down 3 - 4 inches all over.If you must weight yourself only weigh once a week at the same time of day and in the same location. -
1ST real cold since lapband and it sucks, (even dr says boy you haven't been around for awhile have you> I can consider that a NSV right?

How about some NSVs!?!?
glitter eyes replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had multiple NSV's during this process. Some of favorites have been: 1. Crossing my legs again 2. Shopping in the "normal" section 3. Able to fit comfortably in a restaurant booth 4. Wearing heels/wedges 5. Having lots of energy 6. Working out without feeling out of breath or out of place 7. Walking all day at Disney and having tons of extra room on all the rides- going back next week and can't wait I am looking forward to many more and I love reading everyone's victories!! It is inspiring -
October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Love the NSV!! I think I had two this week...one was my husband telling me I needed new work clothes because the other ones are literally falling off! The other was getting hit on for the first time in like a billion years...while wearing my wedding ring!! HW: 256 SW: 224 CW: 182 -
HI all! Today is exactly 9 Weeks since I had my sleeve surgery. I have read a lot of post on here pre and post surgery about people being so dishearten over the numbers on the scale when they weigh. I told myself back before my surgery that I was NOT going to fall victim to the stinking scale! That hellacious thing has a way of ruining a persons whole day/week. Now I know some people can weigh everyday and whatever number pops up they can live with but I know me, I know my past, and I know how many times that Sucker has knocked the wind out of my sails and made me feel defeated. NOT this time honey! So what I did do with my daughter help (Partly to make sure I couldn't fudge on the numbers later) was measured every part of my body. Today is the first time we got the measuring tape out and revisited those numbers and I have to say I am astonished! These inches I have lost so far, far surpasses the feeling I got from any scale number! People are always asking me for recommendations of what they should do and my advice is to take your measurements because you can almost bet when that scale isn't moving but your following orders your probably still losing inches. I'm a open book so I will share my numbers with you... Under bust - 3inches Smallest part of waist -4 inches Natural waist -6 inches Buttock, booty, lovely lady lumps -10 inches!!!!! Yes -10 inches!! Crazy!!(Don't fret there's plenty more where that came from) Upper arm -3inches Thighs -6 inches (loving this) Calves-1 1/2 inches. Such a long way to go but I am so incredibly grateful for my sleeve and the help it has given me to finally be succeeding at something I've wanted for so long! Hey does this count as a NSV?? ( ps: I do weigh myself but only bi-weekly if I feel like it:)

My daughter bought me this ring to replace my wedding ring. Its my late husband's birthstone. Last time I wore it was about 2006. It fits!!
