    Really stuck last night

It's when the food you just ate comes back up - no stomach acid involved, so it's not really vomit. Some people just burp and it comes up, other are more violent (like me, it's just like vomiting except it's just food). The first year or so after surgery for me it would be accompanied by major gobs of "goo" (saliva built up in your esophagus. Looks like a jellyfish in the toilet (sorry if tmi). Hope that helps. Oh, and PB stands for Productive Burp Marci
  2. I did not have heavy bleeding! The first time you get your period after insertion it is heavy and last a little longer than normal. But that is normal for the first one! Also you will experience cramping the day that you get it and maybe the day after just because your body is adjusting. My doctor gave me a low dose of pain med. I will say that the little bleeding and cramping is well worth, not taking a pill daily, condoms, pulling out, monthly shots, Patches etc! This might be Tmi but I've had it for about 2 years and my boyfriend and I relied 100% on paragard using no prevention method and I was never a day late!

    Really stuck last night

Oh my! I got stuck last night and about scared myself silly! I was banded in Sept. and have thought I was learning how to eat correctly, etc. The fill I got last week has turned everything on its ear though. I have obviously not learned enough up til now because now I am finding out what all the more experienced folks have warned about the tiny bites and slowing waaay down really mean! I ate half a baked chicken thigh last night, pretty much without thinking, because halfway through the last bite I started hurting and pb'ing. I had to spit out what was in my mouth...and for a few minutes couldn't even swallow my own secretions! I know this is TMI, but for those of you new to this who haven't been stuck yet...I seriously don't recommend it! I'm going back on soft foods today to give it a rest, then back to square one with my eating lessons: tiny bites, go slow, chew until my jaw aches.

    February Sleevers

I'm in the waiting room now....super nervous and trying to calm my nerves....it doesn't help that my cycle started (TMI) and my glasses broke so I will wake up and not be able to see a thing since they are making me remove my contacts....Jesus help me calm down and rid me of this anxiety...I know everything will work out for the good...say a prayer for me fellow sleevers....today I change my life for the better!
  5. After seeing that 1 pecan pie was almost 6000kj yesterday, I bypassed the cafe and went to Woolies and bought some plums. I used to have 2 HUGE plum trees in my backyard when I was growing up and every year the trees would break their branches with the amount of fruit on them. We had 1 type that was great for eating and another type that was sour that we stewed. We had plums all year round. So I bought 6 mid sized dapple dandy plums and over the course of the day, ate all 6. My tummy was so noisy last night I'm sure the neighbours could hear it. I can tell you that I had the best, natural detox last night (tmi?) and literally lost 1kg between yesterday and today. Long story short... It took me 3 weeks to have a bm post op, so if anybody is struggling, rather than drinking GROSE prune juice, eat the plums. If you're on purée or mushie stages, stew them first in some Water until they are super soft. It works. Promise. So glad I walked past the cakes.

    Omg it's that time again.

I know I complained about this before. And this may be a little tmi, but I'm pmsing again. I'm tired and want to eat everything I see. Not to mention I have to go see my personal trainer. Oh well I just need to vent.

    Post op experiences and support

Hello Ladies, It's a little personal, so sorry for TMI, but is anyone having issues with "liquid in, liquid out"? I have between 600-775 cal per day and get between 58-70 grams of Protein. Today is the first day that I have had this specific issues. Been struggling with watching my whole family eat while I've been on liquids for the last 5 days. I've lost 9 lbs since surgery and have been walking daily. Fluids were a little light yesterday but other then that, things have been very positive. I see my Doc Thurs and can't wait to get to puree stage THank you for the support.
  8. When I run my fat jiggles all over and hurts. I have to quit after two minutes of running or jogging. Any ideas on what I could wear

    Awkward question

    This whole thread is TMI!

    Awkward question

I forgot all about the extra farting! Oh damn, I hope I don't have to go through that again when I'm re-banded. :/ This may be TMI, but the other thing that used to happen was whenever my partner and I were getting 'snuggly' my tummy would make these weird 'fruit burping' noises. He said it was his audio gauge as to whether he was doing all the right things . It was one of the first signs that made me suspect that my band was leaking, when I stopped making those sounds in my tummy. It also kinda gave him a complex that he was losing his mojo!

    The defining moment you knew

Honestly and this might be TMI but its the truth , When I could no longer reach to wipe my backside after using the restroom .... went and looked at some pics and noticed I looked like Jabba the hut and said enough is enough .... That was my turning point

    Love my band :)

I was banded in March 2010, and had slow and not too steady success with my band - some other health issues got in the way. Things were moving along nicely combining my band with Weight Watchers. Like everyone else, I had those occasional PB's, those foods you learn are not going to go down, the occasional, "Oops - forgot and eat too much/too fast" and from the beginning, I usually could not eat wearing a bra. In July 2012 things changed...now I couldn't eat while sitting down, and never before 10a. Every night I'd sit down to dinner with my tablespoon of whatever Protein or main dish, a tablespoon each of that evening's veggies, maybe a 1/4 cup salad and three thumb nail sizes bites in, I'd be in the bathroom throwing up. After expelling my three bites and a giant mucus ball, I might be able to get my portion of the main dish down...in about 45 minutes and only if I was standing up. I had to give up eating out after a mortifying "3 Bite" episode @ a business meeting. I started having that burning sensation in my throat. I was getting sick everyday. What happened in July? The only thing I can think of was that I'd had carpal tunnel surgery. I have always had to be "patched" before surgery because of severe nausea. Before this procedure, though, the anesthesiologist told me I didn't need it since I'd only be under 15 minutes. It was day surgery so I was home that afternoon. Hadn't eaten and wasn't hungry. Took the dog out to do her business, and my world tilted - I began retching and couldn't stop. My weight crept up from 216 to 227 - combination of not eating &/or just getting what I could get down. When you're beat, and you need a quick pick up before a meeting and you can't risk an incident, a chocolate bar goes down without returning. After a long day of keeping nothing "real" down, a pint of ice cream is soothing. Not making excuses, not saying it was the right thing to do, but it's what I did. Instead of homing in on the real physical reactions I was having (my husband, friends, oncologist all noticed and encouraged me to go see my WLS), I kept blaming myself for not trying hard enough. Finally in December, I'd had it and made an appointment. They told me I should've come in six months ago. Since then, I've had an upper GI and will be having an endoscopy next week. I'm eating mostly soft foods the consistancy of yogurt. Couple of days ago, I attempted a single slice of deli ham chew 45 times(I counted) and made six trips to the bathroom. Had a piece of toast last night - no problem. Had a piece of toast this morning - not so good and really creepy in that at 11am in addition to being unable to keep toast down, I could taste what I'd had for dinner the night before!(TMI). Like anything, the band has it's good points and it's not so good points. It's taught me a lot and if it needs to come out, so be it. Since my original surgery, I'm about 50 pounds thinner(hey only 81 pounds to go!) and I've learned what full feels like. I've also learned that most people with a gastric band will need to have it replaced by the 10 year mark and many much sooner. A some point though, the inconveniences and embarassments become a bit too much to deal with. Revision surgery - hadn't even thought about that yet!

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Hi guys! I promise every day it continues to improve. I was sleeved 2/7/2013 and am finally feeling almost normal again. I just reached my first goal- Onderland!!! And tomorrow is my BDay :-) so excited! HW: 236, consultation: 229, preop: 222, SD: 212. I will advise to watch your BM closely and talk to your doc if you're not having good BM regularly. I though I was all good, but my first trip to the gym went bad when it hit me like a ton of bricks! Sorry, TMI
  19. Hey Everyone, Quick question, I am being sleeved Feb. 25, and was wondering about what to wear? I only want to take one outfit, to wear there and then again home. I don't care if everyone sees me in my pajamas, it is a hospital after all. Is is easier to wear a nightgown and robe, or to wear fleece jammie pants and a t-shirt?? I want to pack as light as I can. Or do you just wear the hospital gowns?? Keep bra on, or take it off ?? (Sorry guys if TMI) I plan on bringing my crocs to wear to walk around the hallways with, as I hear that you are up and walking that day or the next. Thanks for your input. Carol
  20. So I have been doing great post sleeve up until the last 2 days. I was having a BM every other day since surgery up until about 5 days ago. It has been 5 days since my last BM and I am getting seriously backed up to the point that its very painful. I have been taking a stool softener, milk of magnesia and today my first suppository. Nothing seems to be working and I seriously feel I might hurt myself if I try and push it out. Any other ideas? Once this passes what should I be doing/easting to prevent this from happening again? I know I need more Fiber in my diet but can anyone give me some examples... I don't want to add to many carbs to my diet so please keep that in mind. thank you
  21. It does get better, I was sleeved November 20, and there were some days that I didn't think I could tolerate another Protein shake (I still use them to supplement). There is no way I can get 80-100 grams of protein in a day without them. This may be TMI, but I had problems with gagging while I was having a bowel movement for about 4 weeks, it was very strange and scary. This was the closest to "slimming" I have done, and it was awful. Eeeewwwwwww!

Hello errrbody! Finallly, I'm postin on this thread. I was banded on 1/14/13 in Worcester, MA, at St. Vincent's Medical Center by Dr. Michael Potter (TMI?) hahaha and tomorrow marks 1 full month post op. So far I am down 30lbs! I've had lots of struggles thus far and am not recooping like a lot of you folks (lucky duckies!), but I'm trying to remain strong! Congrats to all of you on your new journey! Friend me so we can chitty chat! Much <3
  25. I am feeling better everyday. I just wanted to give a heads up to everyone: stay on your stool softeners or miralax. Going into TMI, I had gone small tiny amounts a couple times since surgery, at one point I thought the "water" time cleaned me out. Today I had/have the mother of all constipation. No joke, hours, Some relief but I know the job isn't finished yet. Even if you think you are okay, take it as a precaution. I will never go a day without it again.
