    Newly sleeved

Welcome to the forum. I've never noticed how many teens are on this forum, but I wish I had been able to get WLS back then. It would have saved me years and years of misery. Welcome to the Loser's Bench. You have any NSV's yet?
  2. Horror upon horrors I had to video-conference today for a new job. Eeek! Not only do I have telephone anxiety (conference calls were a major food trigger for me prior to my band) but being seen on camera? Oh. My. God. There are hardly any photographs of me in our family albums and certainly no video. I've always been too ashamed of my weight and how I looked. So today, ta-da! I was fine. Not that I wasn't a nervous wreck -- I still felt anxious but I didn't need food to tamp down the feelings (thank you, Band, for the dimmed appetite). I set the equipment up ahead of time and chose my outfit carefully, positioned the camera just right with all my notes just above and behind. When the conference got going I couldn't believe how good I looked. I am not only acceptable, I'm more than that. I look like some one I'd really like -- and that makes me laugh because now I really do like myself and I like how I look. I've still got some weight to lose but you know what, I don't have to hide anymore. It's okay for me to be out in the world. Yippee!

    Not loosing!

Stalls suck, but they tend to be related to Water retention. Any chance that you've been slipping just a bit? I suspect that if you go into and out of ketosis, it might lead to water retention, which can cause a stall. The good news is that even during a stall you should be losing inches. So check you clothing and use the non-scale victories (NSVs) to get you through. Like a tunnel, there's a light at the end of every stall. Good luck!

    My Sleeves are Too Long!

Sleeves too long is still a NSV! Congratulations on your loss. It just struck me that this is one of the few places you will ever hear those words in the same sentence: "Congratulations on your loss". Most of the time it is: "So sorry for your loss". As a dear friend often says: "but I digress". I'm happy for your success. Wishing you continued NSV's and even more "losing" . I hope to NEVER find the weight I've lost Blessings, Kathleen

    My Sleeves are Too Long!

I noticed the same thing when I started losing....it's not so much that your arms are getting shorter, it's more that since you're now smaller, your taking up less body material for your clothing, so the clothes sorta 'hang more' off of you. As SimplyChearvon says, it's really a great NSV!! Wish you the best!!

  10. Hello everyone. I'm about 1 yr and 5 months post op surgery was August 6 2013 my HW was 350lbs. And I'm currently 165lbs. Still about 20 to 40lbs till my actual goal but this far I'm pretty happy. Well I took my measurements a few months back. I've lost maybe 10 lbs since thing but here's my NSV... Hips: 38 inches (then) Hips: 32 inches (now) Waist: 35 inches (then) Waist: 29inches(now) Bust: 36 inches (then) Bust: 30 inches (now) Neck: 13 inches (then) Neck: 12 inches (now) I've lost 6 inches in hips 6 inches in waist and 6 inches in my bust!! Along with an inch in my neck. :-) now only if I could lose this last 20lbs or so and the excess skin oh how I hate the excess skin!! Anyways this feels great to know 10 lbs and 6 inches from each area that's 19 inches all over lost... :-) hmm anyone else with their NSV... oh also I can wear a size 7 with medium tops :-) from size 24/26 to a 7. And from a 3xl-4xl shirt to mediums! Yay
  11. Thanks everyone. Even a Giants' fan in this horrible season so that's something to respect at least right? I actually had a drawer of clothes I bought pre op that were "goals" because I needed NSV for this weeks were we stall. I'm happy to report it is half empty. That clearance NSV made me laugh! Good for you!! I do the same thing. "There's no way this fits" go into the dressing room and am baffled when it does or weirdly when it doesn't because it's too big lol. It happened so quickly that I just can't wrap my my mind around it yet most days. I need to try that turkey jerky, I've heard that's a great option.
  12. Someone explained this earlier I wish I had saved the post. Basically the first 2 weeks your're losing water weight and you're body is in shock from the surgery. By week 3 you're body is settled into your new eating routine. I'll echo what everyone else is saying, stay off the scales. I actually don't weight myself more than once a month. The scale will make you crazy. Look for other NSV(non-scale victories). For example now would be a good time take your measurements. I just did mine today and I'm down 3 - 4 inches all over.If you must weight yourself only weigh once a week at the same time of day and in the same location.
  13. 1ST real cold since lapband and it sucks, (even dr says boy you haven't been around for awhile have you> I can consider that a NSV right?

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I have had multiple NSV's during this process. Some of favorites have been: 1. Crossing my legs again 2. Shopping in the "normal" section 3. Able to fit comfortably in a restaurant booth 4. Wearing heels/wedges 5. Having lots of energy 6. Working out without feeling out of breath or out of place 7. Walking all day at Disney and having tons of extra room on all the rides- going back next week and can't wait I am looking forward to many more and I love reading everyone's victories!! It is inspiring

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Love the NSV!! I think I had two this week...one was my husband telling me I needed new work clothes because the other ones are literally falling off! The other was getting hit on for the first time in like a billion years...while wearing my wedding ring!! HW: 256 SW: 224 CW: 182
  16. HI all! Today is exactly 9 Weeks since I had my sleeve surgery. I have read a lot of post on here pre and post surgery about people being so dishearten over the numbers on the scale when they weigh. I told myself back before my surgery that I was NOT going to fall victim to the stinking scale! That hellacious thing has a way of ruining a persons whole day/week. Now I know some people can weigh everyday and whatever number pops up they can live with but I know me, I know my past, and I know how many times that Sucker has knocked the wind out of my sails and made me feel defeated. NOT this time honey! So what I did do with my daughter help (Partly to make sure I couldn't fudge on the numbers later) was measured every part of my body. Today is the first time we got the measuring tape out and revisited those numbers and I have to say I am astonished! These inches I have lost so far, far surpasses the feeling I got from any scale number! People are always asking me for recommendations of what they should do and my advice is to take your measurements because you can almost bet when that scale isn't moving but your following orders your probably still losing inches. I'm a open book so I will share my numbers with you... Under bust - 3inches Smallest part of waist -4 inches Natural waist -6 inches Buttock, booty, lovely lady lumps -10 inches!!!!! Yes -10 inches!! Crazy!!(Don't fret there's plenty more where that came from) Upper arm -3inches Thighs -6 inches (loving this) Calves-1 1/2 inches. Such a long way to go but I am so incredibly grateful for my sleeve and the help it has given me to finally be succeeding at something I've wanted for so long! Hey does this count as a NSV?? ( ps: I do weigh myself but only bi-weekly if I feel like it:)

  22. @@Luana526, you're doing great. I agree w/you, it's the best decision I've made in a while. I haven't lost a lot but I'm certain I'll reach my goal. Right now I'm enjoying the nsv's ( being able to walk through a mall without back pain, energy, energy, energy. Dancing through an entire song without being winded, LOL etc. etc. etc.).I have no regrets!
  23. Well not really ran, but I never would have made the train 20 lbs ago!! I wouldn't have even tried.

    What's really going on here

I've been working out since week 3. I find it gives me energy. My advice would be track what you eat to make sure you are meeting your Protein requirements before adding cracker, veg & fruit. I make sure to get in my 60+gm of protein and 64 ounces of fluids daily. Between that and working out regularly I feel more energized than I have in a long time and I am rarely hungry other than when it's time to eat. The other thing I would advice is to step away from the scale. It will make you nuts. I only weigh myself once a month at the doctors. However, if you just weigh at home, do it no more than once a week at the same time of day. That said, if you are on track then look for other NSV's. Take your measurements and compare.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Yey Cathy! Good for you... Monday I focus on food. I had NSV of sorts today... I had to baby sit for a friend (her dad is back in hospital) and on the way back they brought a McDonalds home - they offered me something as I hadn't eaten all day and I refused! I then sat there whilst 5 of them devoured their Big Macs and shakes... and it didn't bother me one bit! How cool am I? lol
