Thanks it was from my wedding in March. Seeing my size in the pictures is what really broke the camels back for me. We spent so much and I am not happy with myself in them. Lol. As far as how I am doing post-op... my pain has actually been pretty minimal. I get sore and tender in spots at some times, but nothing has been excruciating. I have been taking childrens tylenol from the pain. Day 1-2 post-op it was hard to keep food down and I was vomitting a lot. Since day three I have not been naseous at all and the worst of my problems have been gas and some loose bowel movements.. TMI I know Feel free to private message me if you want to chat more or have any other questions!

My doc actually told me to take advil! He said that as long as I drink before I take a pill, and then drink at least 250ml (one cup) of warm Water afterwards, AND as long as it doesn't get stuck... then he suggests I take advil as it's much better at releiving pain and it also speeds up the healing process. I haven't had any problems thus far. oh, and this was definitely not TMI. There have been posts that are A LOT worse. This is a good place to be open and honest. -

stcyt replied to moka5298's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm trying not to. I know in my head that I have to have lost weight. I havent eaten in 7 days!!! My stomach feels bloated and my bowels havent moved since surgery (sorry TMI) so I'm sure thats it. Its just we all have such irrational thinking when it comes to this stuff. Thanks for the encouragement -
OMG, TMI!!! Seriously, gassing gets better the later out you get. For me, I think gassing got better around month 5. However, I would never gas someone while talking to them. Oh the shame!!! Better to wait for a private moment so you don't have to have a black belt in the art of inconspicuous gassing. Lol.

I need some help everyone. I had my daughters two years ago and ever since then I have had the Mirena. I have not had a period in a year and a half. I am 12 days post op and I have a period. I read through my stuff from the doctor and don't see it mentioned anywhere. Anyone experience this before? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have had the opposite AND there is a new sweet smell (sorry for the TMI). I am very sensitive to smells right now, so it could be nothing. I have no symptoms.

Warning TMI, but need help.

My dr. had me take a colon cleaner before surgery so nothing would be in my bowel, so not having to go for a long while after surgery is normal. Also, if you've spent a long time after surgery on liquids, it'll be a while before you go. I know that my dr. told me to remember that I would be eating smaller amounts, therefore BM's would not come as frequently as prior to surgery. Now that said, I have found that the papaya juice I drink for times I get stuck has had a wonderful effect on the bowel issue. Also, I love split pea Soup, so that too has been a good thing. I tend to avoid the pill form of taking care of constipation if possible. Usually Water and a really fibrous meal help me out. Sorry for the TMI answer, but it was a TMI question...lol. Annette -
Wow so this may be way tmi but what the heck. My boyfriend and I got busy last night. I'm 10 days post op. Well after I went to get off the bed and I felt like I was going to throw up and maybe pass out. I sipped some cold water and too a quick cold shower. Neither worked. My boyfriend thought he hurt me but he didn't at all. He said I was so pale and almost green. He had me lay back down and then after a few mins I was fine. It was kind of scary. I had never felt so close to passing out. I think that all the blood rushed from my head to other parts of my body and then I got up too fast. That and on top of not eating a lot right now. Now my boyfriend is paranoid to touch me!

Is it time to try Milk of Magnesia? (Time for some more TMI!)
katikati posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, all, I've seen enough on here to know that it's okay to let fly with the TMI. I started my phase 2 diet on Monday, which is full liquids. Prior to full liquids I had some pretty crazy diarrhea for a while, which was to be expected. If I remember correctly, I've only had two BMs since Monday. I don't feel particularly bloated or constipated. I haven't had the urge to go, and then struggled with it or anything. When I did go, it wasn't bothersome, it was just somewhere in between loose and firm. (Ugh, I just cringed saying that. Sorry!) The thing that's bothering me is that I really haven't gone in a couple of days at least, I think it may be more, I just can't remember. I've gained two pounds, and there is just really no way for that to happen on two protein shakes, the occasional sugar-free popsicle or chicken broth, and water every day. I'm becoming alarmed that I may be facing an, um... impending hour of terror in the bathroom. I've never taken a laxative or stool softener in my life. For some reason they kind of scare me. Would it be acceptable to take some pre-emptive Milk of Magnesia since it's been so long? I'm also trying to up my water, to see if that helps. -
My bowel movements severely slowed down after surgery and actually still has (TMI)! This scared me a lot too but my doctor had prepared me for it and gave me instructions on how to handle, starting with Miralax. I want to say it was probably 5 days before my first BM and it was difficult for probably 6-8 weeks. Infrequent and painful. Make sure you're drinking enough water and definitely contact your doctor. You will definitely want to take a stool softener. I think because our diets change so much it really changes our bathroom practices, for the better. Good luck!

You know, I was just thinking today that I should go see my PCP and talk about trying Wellbutrin again, for several reasons: I'm peri-menopausal, and while I'm not having wild mood swings or anything, I generally feel irritated a lot of the time, I get mad easier, and I also have absolutely NO sex drive. I enjoy it once we get into it, but have no desire at all to get things started, ever. I had my gyno start me on it a few years ago, partly because I was under a ton of stress at the time and it was starting to affect me, but mostly because I also heard it was great for weight loss (it's also used to help people stop smoking). I was only on it for 3 weeks because after 2 weeks, I started getting really itchy spots all over my ankles, which at first I thought were bug bites.. until one day when I got really hot at the zoo and broke out in hives all over the place. A little online research showed that to be one of the side-effects. Damn! Because I can say that YES, definitely in those three weeks I noticed an increase in drive. Also, hopefully this is not way TMI, but I was able to hit The Big O during regular intercourse, which is very rare these days (God love the 40s, wheee). So yeah, like you I think I may see about trying it again before the weather gets warm, and see if I still have the same reaction (with the hives--I can hope that it still affects me the other way too! )

Anyone who has been through it and passed... can you please tell me what to expect? I read somewhere that someone tried it years ago and was diagnosed with depression---does that mean you can't get the surgery? I also read that they give you a check off list to show how weight has affected you---what is this truly trying to get at? I know it's seeing are you emotionally/mentally ready for surgery, but I'm just scared I won't pass as I do see a Psychologist already for bi-polar (which is in my charts) which has a depressive side to it and currently on meds for that. :- / A little TMI, but I'd just like to know what I'm getting myself into here.

Ok so I am 10 days post op and the constipation is real 2 days ago I thought I had it worked out after 2 days of max dosage of colase and a suppoitory but now its back and even more vengeful. After the last bout I stopped taking any medication that had constipating side effects because no amount of pain or nausea is worth this. Probably TMI but it is like rock hard... Any suggestions? How long does this last?

May 12th Surgery Stories - Terrific Tuesday!
CyndiMomto3 replied to Kellster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, here's my story :smile2: I started getting ready for the surgery Monday night. I tried to do things that I knew I wouldn't want to do right away after coming back from the hospital. I scrubbed a bath/shower that needed to be cleaned, unloaded & loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen, (TMI) DTD with hubby lol. I also had to wash our sheets so I could sleep on freshly washed sheets, per my instructions. I also had to take a shower with a hibiclens sponge and then take another one in the morning. I only ended up sleeping 2-3 hours so the showers weren't that far apart but oh well. I got to the hospital at 8am with surgery scheduled for 10am. (I wasn't early just for fun, they asked me to come that early) lol I signed a couple of papers at the admissions desk and then sat in the waiting room for about 5-10 minutes. Then they took me back to a small pre-op room with a bed, chair and tv. The nurse asked me to get all the way undressed and put on their stylish gown, gray skidproof sockies and blue surgery cap. She had me hop on the bed and asked a bunch of questions and I had to sign another paper. She also collected a urine specimen (to make sure I'm not pregnant I think). About this time my friend Becky arrived, which helped pass the time. (I had driven myself there because hubby needed to be home with the kids.) The nurse came back in and gave me a shot of heparin in the belly and it really didn't hurt or sting, thank goodness. She told me that they would be taking me down to the OR about 10:30 (so I guess it got moved back a little) she also started my IV and gave me some medicine to calm my nerves a little. That stuff was great, it did calm me down and made me mellow. They gave a little light up pager thing to my friend and sent her back to the waiting room until the surgery was over. They wheeled me down to the OR and transferred me over to another bed, put the mask on my face and I was out. I woke up in a recovery room and coughed a little from the breathing tube they had put down my throat during the surgery. I remember looking at the clock at seeing 11:30am or noon. I honestly don't remember much from the recovery room, just that they told me everything went really well. I think I might have cried a little as I was coming out of the fog, I don't know why, but I'm pretty sure I did. Other than earlier in the day when my surgeon came to say hello, I never even saw him at all. They wheeled me to my room, which was a double room and already had a lady in there. My roommate had a lot of health issues, I felt so bad for her. She had gastric bypass in 1999 and then a revision and she came in to have a hernia repaired for the 3rd time. After being in the room for awhile, I wondered where my friend was and called her cell phone. She, my husband and my 17 month old son were waiting to come to my room, but no one let them know that they could come up. That was kind of annoying...but I understand they get busy. They came up to visit and my son seemed a little scared by the IV, oxygen in my nose and leg compression thingees. My daughter was at school, thank goodness, I think she would have been really worried about me. After they left, I tried to take a nap and nodded off a little here and there. My roomate got discharged so then I had the room all to myself. :tt2: I got up a little while later to go to the bathroom and walk the halls. I spent the evening dozing off and on, getting woken up constantly for vitals, blood sugar testing (even though I'm not diabetic) and once, around midnight, I woke up to find housekeeping stripping down the other bed in the room and cleaning that side of the room. Really, at midnight?? As of right now, I am still waiting to be discharged. I actually kind of wonder if they forgot about me...I was able to get the IV unhooked and took a shower. They also wheeled me downstairs to do the swallow test to make sure the band was in the right place (it is). They have not allowed me to eat or drink anything, other than a small amount of Water...it has been 36 hrs since i ate!! I don't know what is going on but I am not having any problems so hopefully they will let me go soon. -
I got a bra on the day after surgery as I HATE that feeling of having boobs flopping around. I had an incision on the high sternum too, but this was well covered and small so the front of the bra rested on it and caused no pain at all. Having my boobs resting on my stomach loose was WAY worse. This is total TMI, but when I first got out of bed a few hours post surgery I had nothing on but a gown and I had to lift them off of my stomach (what with all the sweat and blood stains) to even get standing. It was so much more painful!

Stuck and Frustrated. ..
LoryLosesXS replied to WildChickie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A few things I've learned is how our bodies hold on to Water before a significant weight drop. The body is holding on for endear life when we don't eat enough calories. Drink lots and lots of water. This may be TMI, but I lost weight after I took a BM. I eat a lot of Protein and I am no longer regular. Every couple of days my body lets go. Hang in there and measure yourself. Even the most fit people use measurements and not weight due to muscle weighing more than fat. You may be gaining muscle too. :-). -
GREEN POOP (sorry, TMI...lol...but seriously, I need to ask about this)
Creekimp13 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm on day 6 of my pre-op liquid diet. I'm surprised I'm pooping at all, since all I'm eating is jello, broth, fluids and protein drinks (and 100 calories of cream of wheat per day). Recently, I've started having greenish, kinda loose bowel movements. This was pretty alarming to me, cause I've always been told to associate green poo with infection. However, I've done some searches of different bariatric sites and found several people reporting the same weird green poo.......typically around day 6! At one of the sites, a doctor responds that this isn't a problem. Could be caused by bile and vitamins...and that it's fairly common. Has anyone else experienced the alien poo during the liquid diet? -
I had my surgery last Wednesday so it's been 4 days. I am finally getting more liquids in, which is good. The other day was the first tim I went #2, but it was like I passed gas and it was like an explosion sorry tmi., but I need to ask if anyone else has experienced the same thing. I have only had clear liquids now since last Tuesday so I would think it would be solid, but if feels like every time go to the bathroom and I pass gas it happens. It's brown and yellow . it's not really diarrhea. As anyone else experience this??

Have searched and saw old post. Just wanted a more updated response. What's anyone been experiencing bad periods since having surgery. I was sleeved on July 1st. Since then I have had a full week and then spotting, I just started with an extremely heavy flow ( sorry if TMI ) I did read that hormones are stored in the fat and can caused abnormal periods. Just wondered if anyone else is having the same experience. Thanks

I wish I was having diarrhea  Since banding, I hold on to a lot of what I eat and don't go to the bathroom quite as much unfortunately. Sorry if thats TMI lol!
-
You're already drinking protein shakes? Man, I'm on clear liquid diet only (water, crystal light, beef or chicken broth and sugar free popsicles). After day 2 I haven't had a problem keeping anything down. I understand what you mean when you say you thought the nutritionist was crazy about the fluid intake, I thought the same exact thing. I would double check with your doctor that protein shakes are OK to be drinking right now, they may just be too much for your system right now. I'm about to call my doctor because the past 2 days I've had an upset stomach and diarrhea which makes no sense to me, at all. I'm sure that was TMI, sorry, lol. How are you doing with your walking?

I Find Out My Date Tomorrow!
crysky replied to crysky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing alright but Today was a tough day. I got into it with my husband who was threatening me about cutting me off our insurance so I can't get surgery. He's a spiteful jerk. Sorry for the TMI but it sucks having to deal with the crap. Anywho I wasn't able to find out my date because the one who schedules was out but I do find out on Nov 2 so I'm excited! I pray everything goes good with the insurance and I get approved for the end of dec. Did you get your surgery done yet?
