Do You Weigh After a Poop?
Territravel replied to joatsaint's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
O.k, this is probably TMI, but I know for a fact that the human body can hold up to 5 lbs of poop. Just be sure and weigh yourself before you prep for a colonoscopy, and then after! -
My stomach or what feels like my intestine has had a really loud persistent gurgling every minute of the last 10 hours Its like a rumbling monster that starts up in my left upper quadrant, and roars down like its going to be gas then painfully stops and shoots the gurgling back in to my gut. I have taken gas x strips, and have the colace but havent taken any because they are gel caps and Ive heard that we cant take gel caps. I have only passed gas once and almost went in my pants. I have not had a bm since surgery Wed but have only been drinking water and gatorade a little tomato juice and some sips of protein drink, which I think was the problem. Sorry for the TMI but you ladies are so good at having answers to these things and I am desperate. I have put a call into my dr but I know someone out there must have had a similar experience and I would like your thoughts/advice. Thank you!

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
jessicamarie75 replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Anyone else feel really sick 3 weeks after surgery? I feel like I have a UTI in my colon. I know this is a bit TMI but I don't really know what else to do? I've gone to my dr and they did a X-ray, nothing is wrong with the sleeve itself. I took the anti nausea stuf today and that helped a little, but I still feel sick all the time. I'm having some buyers remorse. Help... -
I just urinated for the first time since leaving the hospital and that oddly relieved the pain in one shoulder. I'm sorry if that's TMI but I'm trying to be as specific as possible about my recovery so others can compare and our prepare for their own experiences. I tried waiting 5 hrs between pain meds (rather the prescribed 4) so far I made it to 4.5. Haven't used any of the nausea meds yet I'm guessing I'll need those when I get off the Clear Liquids.

TMI for Sure. But i need some advice from my fellow sleevers. I was sleeved April 2012. I have had bouts of constipation here and there. But. Nothing like what I am dealing with now. I have been taking miralax for about a week now and have been able to go some. Yesterday I did an enema and within 30 seconds I had to go& it was all watery. I did another enemy today. Went right away again and watery as well. I am so bloated & my abdomen hurts. I'm so nauseous & I feel like there is more to come out. But. Nothing Else is coming out. Any suggestions?? Is this common? Do I call my doctor?

Kind of TMI topic but here goes: I think I have a problem "downstairs" Had sex with my partner 4 days ago. We use condoms so no issues there. I am now itchy down there. It burns when I pee. It hurts when I wipe. It could be because I was a bit aggressive when checking and spreading down there. I was convinced for a minute that my partner gave me something, he got himself checked, nothing. My gyno isn't free till Friday. I'm freaking out. I've read a few ladies get UTIs after getting sleeved. Can anyone tell me symptoms or signs of a UTI or yeast infection?

I'm finding it harder & harder to stay 100% focused these days. I don't have that same "gusto" I used to have. I used to log on almost every day, and track my food daily. I logged my food for almost 105 days in a row... and no, nothing in the last week or so. I feel disappointed in myself, and out of sorts. I go to my parents house almost every single day, check their mail, make sure Dad has his meds filled, do their grocery shopping, then take mom to get her hair done every Saturday. That part makes me smile. I don't mean to complain at all as I"m thankful to have them around. They will be 87 & 85 in a week. I have to admit it's a bit exhausting, and I don't have much in the way of energy left to focus where I need to : ME! I know I talked about this during my last post & I thought I could re-focus, but I'm almost at a lost. It's not that I'm over-eating, but I may as well be because I'm not eating as healthy & therefore just maintaining. I'm not even 'regular' (TMI, sorry). I I know it's my own doing, but I'm having a hard time with things. My dad's health affects my own mood. If he's doing well, I'm doing OK. If he's doing poorly, I get a little sad & don't focus. Why is it so stinkin; easy to go back to old habits? He has so many ups & downs. How do you deal with a parent dying of cancer? My dad's so strong too. The last few days he's been feeling better due to steroids he's on, in addition to all the other meds he's on. He still has energy so he's not bed-ridden. But my God, how do you stay focused with this **** going on? I have my 6 month follow up apt on March 11th (a month late), so I think I will ask for a small fill. Again, I'm not over-eating, and I may have lost 3 or 4 ponds in the last 4-6 weeks, but I'm not eating healthy or even working out. I want my focus back.

I suspect UTI as I see you're not a woman. I've had kids and my weight doesn't help, exercises don't help (TMI), I believe that my constant urge to urinate will go away after I lose weight, maybe not.

Question about Positive side effects
onelessfatgirl replied to JMS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for posting this! My knees have really become bothersome. They hurt even when I'm not using them. And (TMI) they have made my favorite sexual positions really painful. As a result of having unsatisfying/embarrassing moments of intimacy I've been emotional and felt bad about myself. My partner has been super understanding and supportive. But, one of my main fears is that my knees will still be problematic and hinder me from a lot of physical activities. I'm glad to hear that knee pain has resolved for some other sleevers. -

Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Ok now that I'm not in so much pain I was sleeved on the 20th and had a HUGE hernia repair. I had extreme pain when I woke up. My BUTTON was my BEST FRIEND. I was so sad when they took it away I was up and walking the night of surgery...that wasn't bad. Nausea from the anesthesia was my enemy. It made me dry heave until the doc gave me medication to stop it. I got put on a liquid diet on post op day#2 and I was sent home that same day. I was 316 on the day of surgery, 321 on day#2 post op, and this morning day#4post op I was 314! Pain is minimal but sorta constant on my left side. And it kinda feels like I'm sucking my tummy in when I'm not. Only pain med I take maybe twice a day is liquid extra strength Tylenol (only 5ml) I drink all my liquids 2oz at a time....so far the protein shake goes down the smoothest. I have trouble with water...it tends to hurt when it gets to the opening of the stomach. And my TMI moments.....I started passing gas AND my first BM on day#3 post op -

Is it time to try Milk of Magnesia? (Time for some more TMI!)
katikati posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, all, I've seen enough on here to know that it's okay to let fly with the TMI. I started my phase 2 diet on Monday, which is full liquids. Prior to full liquids I had some pretty crazy diarrhea for a while, which was to be expected. If I remember correctly, I've only had two BMs since Monday. I don't feel particularly bloated or constipated. I haven't had the urge to go, and then struggled with it or anything. When I did go, it wasn't bothersome, it was just somewhere in between loose and firm. (Ugh, I just cringed saying that. Sorry!) The thing that's bothering me is that I really haven't gone in a couple of days at least, I think it may be more, I just can't remember. I've gained two pounds, and there is just really no way for that to happen on two protein shakes, the occasional sugar-free popsicle or chicken broth, and water every day. I'm becoming alarmed that I may be facing an, um... impending hour of terror in the bathroom. I've never taken a laxative or stool softener in my life. For some reason they kind of scare me. Would it be acceptable to take some pre-emptive Milk of Magnesia since it's been so long? I'm also trying to up my water, to see if that helps. -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

How bad is the end result of magnesium citrate?
NurseGrace replied to mactrio's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YEP do NOT go anywhere. Get yourself some good reading material because you will more than likely be setting up shop in the bathroom. Nice TP is also a must. TMI but I was cursing my off brand TP the night I had to do my prep -
Hi All! I am happy to say I was banded yesterday! Just feeling sore right now but no gas pains- happy about that. So, my question has to with my recovery yesterday. It didn't go as smoothly as expected.... All of the pain meds they gave through IV made me incredibly nauseas(even when coupled with Zofran) The scary part is that I actually vomited yesterday while in the hospital. Sorry if TMI, but it was a little bloody. Of course this happened while in the hospital and my nurses and doctors were well aware. Before I left they ran lots of extra tests, including a barium swallow and in"ate" broth as well. I am no longer so nauseas. I guess I'm just nervous because I had read so many times you should never vomit and I'm scared that I did on the first day. I'm glad to have my docs reassurance, but just wondering if this happened to anyone else and how unusual it is. I'm just so afraid of a slip! Any thing you could share would be helpful! Other than that everything is great and I'm so excited to finally be banded.

Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!
Jrob805 replied to LizTex2587's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on 2/18, so far so good. Gas pains are starting to go away, just had my first BM (sorry for TMI), and I'm down 11 pounds since Monday. I'm ecstatic that everything has been so good so far, I've only taken 2 Percocet since I left the hospital and that was the first day. I'm walking my dog about 5 mins 3 times a day and I feel great. I'm only getting around 40-50 ounces of liquid in a day though. That's the one thing I need to work on. -
So, I'm pre op but have been trying things out. Ive been using isopure zero carb vanilla powder. It gives me some pretty significant intestinal distress. (Sorry TMI). Is this a problem for anyone else? Is there protein that will sit better? I was hoping for a vanilla so I could flavor it with SF Torani. Thanks!

Dumping Syndrome from drinking too quickly?
Sjane posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never imagined this could be an issue. I drank 16 oz of water in a hour (trying to meet my 80 oz goal). The only thing I had with it was my vitamins. Within minutes of swallowing my last vitamin I was doubled over in the bathroom. And I know its TMI but what came out the other side was still cold. Literally all the water I just drank is gone! Anyone experience this before? -
Thank you JBooze, I've been googling myself to death looking for reasons for my malady. I searched gallbladder attacks and gallstones, I don't think I fall into any of those categories. But thanks for caring! I was told to have a colonoscopy by my PCP-OB/GYN. I go for them every two years, as colon cancer runs in my family. But I stopped having them done in 06. I had to boss my med team around (something I am NOT accustomed to!) to get me a colonoscopy ASAP, the Gods weren't having it. I booked with two different gastroenterologist's, just to see who could see me first. I now have an appt for an office visit in mid April, and an an appt for the test on April 19 (I think ) with my fave gastro...! Not looking forward to it, but I was told to do it, I should have been doing it all along and I want to know the results. The test isn't so bad, but the prep is not fun at all! IDK, my problems shift, sort of. My abdomen still hurts and is still bloated most of the time, my stools are inconsistent (TMI?) and my back pain has broadened and the pain is through the roof! If it weren't for the Lortabs I'm on, I'd not make it through my easy, pt work day, or very mild housework! I'm so disillusioned and wondering if I've lost my mind. I never get sick, not even colds...but this? Wow.

Band has been slipped for 10 mths now...getting frustrated!
marfar7 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey all! Most of you probably know my story: I was banded in OCt of 2009 and did well. Lost 104 lbs in 2 yrs, was down to within 9 lbs of my goal when I started having severe nightime reflux last year. Had to sleep on my back only propped up on 3 pillows, taking RX Prilosec, OTC Zantac, and popping Tums like crazy. I refused to tell my dr cuz I was scared he would take out some of my fill. My husband got tired of my whining about my reflux (some mornings I'd wake up with brown stomach acid on my pillow, sorry if tmi) and insisted I see my dr. I made the 6 hr round trip visit to my dr and he did an xray. My band was slipped. So he took out about 1/2 of my 10cc fills (I have a 14cc band) and let me rest for 4 weeks. The reflux stopped right away. Yeah. In 4 weeks I made the trek again (not to mention that everytime I say hello to my dr, it's $160 + the xray) and without doing a followup xray, he put in 1cc. Well, that was fine, still nor reflux, but also no restriction. So 3 weeks later, he put in another 1cc. The reflux came back that night. Went back (yet anoter 6 hr journey - it's an all day affair + $160) so he finally did another xray. It was still slipped (could've done the xray earlier and prevented all this) and said that "he treats the symptoms, not the xray" so he took out the previous 1cc he had put in. I still have 7 cc in my band. I haven't had reflux too bad (maybe 2x a month or so - I can handle it), but much, much less restriction. In the past year, I've gained 24 lbs. I started Atkins 3 weeks ago in hopes to get rid of it. I promised myself I'd never diet again after getting the band and prided myself on never counting anything and still losing 104 lbs. The portion control only works till about 6 pm then it's a free-for-all. I've lost 11 lbs in the past 3 weeks. Still 20 lbs from my 135 goal. Here's my dilemma: I have this very expensive tool inside me that not's working correctly. Should I go to my dr and pay the over $300 I owe him (no clue where that'll come from) and insist that he correct my problem? That may mean surgery again and starting from scratch, with monthly fills, monthly 6 hrs trips and a liquid diet for 4 weeks (HATED that). Or should I continue to diet and lose the weight (I'm doing well on Atkins, but I'm not really happy right now. I sure miss carbs!) and rely on my band to do just PART of the job? Like I said, I have SOME restriction, just not optimal to lose more weight. No clue what to do. I'm sure Medicare would pay for revision surgery, but I don't want to demand to my dr that he operate when I have no symptoms anymore. He said this was up to me now, not to rely on my band so much. What would you do? I HATE dieting, that's why I got the band in the fist place. I luv being able to eat just a few bites of everything I luv and still lose. HATE not being able to eat about 95% of food. Suggestions? Marci -
3 weeks post-op and a quarter of the way to goal!
roxannez replied to roxannez's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had a single vomiting episode and I'm pretty sure that was because I drank a mug of herbal tea too fast (tmi, but at least it was raspberry tea coming up instead of something worse!). I also get the stuck feeling in my throat if I eat too fast. Honestly I think it's my new full signal. Although, if you're in any way concerned you have a stricture, I highly recommend checking it out with your surgeon, just in case.
